The Effects on Antimicrobial and Cytotoxicity of Brassica oleracea L. Fractions. (적채 분획물의 항균, 암세포 증식 억제효과)

  • This study was carried out to investigate the affects on antimicrobial and cytotoxicity of red cabbage (Brassica oleracea L.,BO). In the paper disc test, antimicrobial activity of BO fractions was increased in proportion to its concentration. Among the various solvent fractions of methanol extract (BOM) of BO, the ethylacetate partition layer (BOMEA) showed the strongest antimicrobial activity We also determined the cytotoxicity and Quinone Reductase induced effect of BO extract and fractions on human cancer cells. The cytotoxicity of BO fractions on HepG2, HeLa and MCF-7 cells was evaluated by MTT assay. The BOMEE and BOMEA showed strong cytotoxic effects on all cancer cell lines we used. The quinone reductase induced effect of BO fractions on HepG2 cells, the hexane partition layer (BOMH) at a dose of 200 $\mu{g}$/ml was 2.88 times more effective compared to the control values of 1.0.

  • The mentalis muscle is a paired muscle originating from the alveolar bone of the mandible. This muscle is the main target muscle for botulinum neurotoxin (BoNT) injection therapy, which aims to treat cobblestone chin caused by mentalis hyperactivity. However, a lack of knowledge on the anatomy of the mentalis muscle and the properties of BoNT can lead to side effects, such as mouth closure insufficiency and smile asymmetry due to ptosis of the lower lip after BoNT injection procedures. Therefore, we have reviewed the anatomical properties associated with BoNT injection into the mentalis muscle. An up-to-date understanding of the localization of the BoNT injection point according to mandibular anatomy leads to better injection localization into the mentalis muscle. Optimal injection sites have been provided for the mentalis muscle and a proper injection technique has been described. We have suggested optimal injection sites based on the external anatomical landmarks of the mandible. The aim of these guidelines is to maximize the effects of BoNT therapy by minimizing the deleterious effects, which can be very useful in clinical settings.

Cosmeceutical Activity of Broccoli (Brassica oleracea var. italica Plenck) with Different Light Sources (광원별 브로콜리 추출물의 화장품약리활성 검증)

  • The purpose of this study was to research the cosmeceutical activity of 70% ethanol extracts when Brassica oleracea var. italica Plenck (BO) was dried under red lighting (RLD), blue lighting (BLD), red+blue lighting (RBLD), or white lighting (WLD). The electron-donating abilities of 70% ethanol extracts from drying BO under RLD, BLD, RBLD, and WLD were 62.8%, 68.1%, 60.9%, and 69.9%, respectively, at a concentration of 500 ppm. The superoxide dismutase (SOD)-like activities of 70% ethanol extracts from drying BO under RLD, BLD, RBLD, and WLD were 39.2%, 47.2%, 19.6%, and 21.6%, respectively, at a concentration of 1,000 ppm. In terms of xanthine oxidase inhibition effects, the proportions of 70% ethanol extracts after drying BO under RLD, BLD, RBLD, and WLD were 45.1%, 56.2%, 38.8%, and 53.3%, respectively, at a concentration of 1,000 ppm. The tyrosinase inhibition effects of 70% ethanol extracts when BO was dried under RLD, BLD, RBLD, and WLD were 21.0%, 13.1%, 26.0%, and 19.1%, respectively, at a concentration of 1,000 ppm. The collagenase inhibition effect of 70% ethanol extracts when BO was dried under RLD, BLD, RBLD, and WLD were 47.4%, 20.8%, 54.6%, and 37.2%, respectively, at a concentration of 1,000 ppm. The astringent inhibition effects of 70% ethanol extracts when BO was dried under RLD, BLD, RBLD, and WLD were 21.5%, 39.6%, 40.0%, and 51.6%, respectively, at a concentration of 5,000 ppm. All of these findings suggest that BO extracts dried under RLD, BLD, RBLD, and WLD have great potential as a cosmeceutical ingredient with good biological activity.

  • The mechanochemical process were employed to prepare the red phosphors (Y,Gd)$BO_3:Eu^{3+}$. The main factors affecting particle size, particle distribution, and luminescent properties of the product were investigated in details. Particles sized around 200-600 nm are formed after intensive milling. The phosphors were characterized by X-ray diffraction (XRD), scanning electron microscope (SEM) and photoluminescence spectrum. Results revealed that phosphors with different morphology, small particle size and high luminescence intensity could be obtained by mechanochemical process.

Theory of Jeong, Sin-bo(鄭臣保論) - With regard to the Introduction of Neo-Confucianism to Korean Dynasty from Southern Song Dynasty (정신보론(鄭臣保論) - 남송 성리학의 고려 전래와 관련하여 -)

  • This article is on the introduction and origin of Korean Neo-Confucianism. In this article, it is verified and clarified that a scholar named Jeong, Sin-bo (鄭臣保) from Southern Song settled on today's Seosan Ganwoldo (看月島) in the year of 1237 (24th year of the king Gojong in Korean Dynasty) and he introduced the Neo-Confucianism both by Jeong, Myung-do (程明道) and Jeong, Yi-cheon (程伊川) who are also called Double Jeong to Korean scholars. Based on these facts, it overturns the history that Anhyang (安珦) first introduced Neo-Confucianism to Korean Dynasty in the year of 1290 even with 35 years ahead. When this gains official approval by the academia, the history of Neo-Confucianism seems to be rewritten. This article first examines changes in history of Korean Neo-Confucianism with three stages and then concentrates on the life of Jeong, Sin-bo. It presents that Jeong, Sin-bo was a descendant of a Southern Song's noble family named Pogang Jeong (浦江鄭氏) and he committed to Chunqiu thoughts (春秋思想) and spirit of loyalty (義理精神) naturally as the posterity of Pogang Jeong. Lastly, it also infers the transmission of Jeong, Sin-bo's scholastic mantle and his influence on the posterity.

  • Recently, interest in BIM technology has been growing in the domestic construction market as the number of construction projects requiring the application of BIM technology has increased. The use of BIM allows the use of various visualization functions through 3D models as well as drawing interference review, quantity calculation and integrated management of information. In particular, estimates of construction costs based on BIM can increase work efficiency by reducing the burden of calculating construction costs and managing them. In order to increase the efficiency of BIM-based cost estimates, it is necessary to improve the correlation between the BoQ(Bill of Quantity) information and the BIM model. For this purpose, the ratio of the amount and item to the detailed construction of the current BoQ was analyzed, especially the problem of the calculation of construction cost in the window work in this study. In addition, we would like to suggest a method for systematically linking the BoQ information with the BIM model by improving the BoQ information structure of the window work. It is expected that this will increase the efficiency of the quantity calculation and analysis work of construction cost of window work. In addition, it is expected that this method will help to analyze and predict changes in construction cost of windows and doors by facility characteristics and type.

Afterglow Properties of LLBO Scintillation Crystal (리튬 루테튬 보레이트 섬광단결정의 잔광 특성)

  • We grew a $Li_6Lu(BO_3)_3:Ce^{3+}$ single crystal as a new scintillator. And, the scintillation and thermoluminescence properties of the scintillator were determined. The emission spectrum of $Li_6Lu(BO_3)_3:Ce^{3+}$ is located in the range of 370~530 nm, peaking at 416 nm and 439 nm, due to the $5d{\rightarrow}4f$ transition of $Ce^{3+}$ ions. The fluorescence decay time of the crystal is composed two components. The fast component is 34 ns (84%) and the slow component is 125 ns (16%) of the crystal. The afterglow is caused by the electron and hole traps in the crystal lattice. We determined physical parameters of the traps in the crystal. The thermoluminescence trap are composed a trap. The determined activation energy (E) and frequency factor (s) of the TL trap are 1.05 eV and $4.4{\times}10^{10}s^{-1}$, respectively.

  • The interest in the use of borate crystals in ultraviolet(UV) nonlinear optics(NLO) has increased because all solid-stste UV lasers obtained with NLO are in highly demand. Much effort has been spent on developing borates series, such as{{{{ { beta -BaB }_{2 } {O }_{4 }(BBO), {LiB }_{ 3}{O }_{5 }(LBO)}}}} and{{{{{ CsKiB}_{6 }{O }_{10 }(CLBO)}}}} in this decade. Recently another new borate crystals, {{{{{ YCa}_{4 }O({BO }_{3 })_{3}}}}} and{{{{{Gd }_{x }{Y }_{1-x }{Ca }_{4 }O({BO }_{ 3})({Gd }_{x }{Y }_{1-x }COB)}}}} have been developed by the present authors. Here, the growth and NLO properties of YCOB and {{{{ {Gd }_{ x} {Y }_{ 1-x} }}}}CO B crystal are reported and their properties discussed in relation to those of other nonlinear optical crystals, such as LBO.

  • Making a conclusion through the research done above may be rather haste, but summarizing the results of the research is as follows. 1. More prescriptions of exogenous diseases in the former term, and more prescriptions of inward damage in the latter term. 2. More unity of the prescription names in the former term, and less in the latter term. 3. It is hard to see that ${\ll}DongEuiBoGam{\gg}$ was widely used in practice.
