  • 3-Carbomethoxy-1(3H)-isobenzofuranone(9) underwent condensation with ${\alpha}{\beta}-unsaturated$, esters 3a-b to produce the corresponding naphthacene-6,7-diones 11a-b with high yields in one pot procedure. Among the naphthacene-6,7-diones formed, compound 11a without an ethyl group at C-9 position was oxidized to give the naphthacene-5,12-dione 13a, while compound 11b containing the ethyl group was oxidized to give a 3:2 mixture of the naphthacene-5,7,12-trione 12b and naphthacene-5,12-dione 13b under the same experimental conditions.

  • 1-Amino-5,6-dimethoxyindan hydrochloride was synthesized from 3- (3,4-dirnethoxyphenyl)propionic acid by intramolecular Friedel-Crafts acylation, oximation with hydroxylamine, and reduction with an overall yield of 74%. 2-Amino-5,6-dimethoxyindan hydrochloride was synthesized from 3-(3,4-dirnethoxyphenyl)propionic acid by intramolecular Friedel-Crafts acylation, oximation with isoamylnitrite, reduction in NaOH and reaction with HCI to form 5,6-dimethoxy-2-indanone, which was reacted with hydroxylamine and reduced with an overall yield of 42%. 5,6-Dimethoxyindan-1,2-dione-2-oxime, which was catalytically hydrogenated to afford cis-, and trans-1-amino-5,6-dimethoxyindan-1-ol as 3 : 1 ratio. This mixture was treated with Li and reacted with chloroacetyl chloride. Cis isomer was acylated and cyclized to synthesize rir -( ${\pm}$ )-7,8-dimethoxy-4,4a,5,9b-tetrahydroindeno[1,2-b][1,4]oxazin-3(2H)-one, but trans isomer was just acylated to form amide.

Preparation of Nanostructures Using Layer-by-Layer Assembly and Applications (층상자기조립법을 이용한 나노구조체의 제조와 응용)

  • We introduce a novel and versatile approach for preparing self-assembled nanoporous multilayered films with antireflective properties. Protonated polystyrene-block-poly (4-vinylpyrine) (PS-b-P4VP) and anionic polystyrene-block-poly (acrylic acid) (PS-b-PAA) block copolymer micelles (BCM) were used as building blocks for the layer-by-layer assembly of BCM multilayer films. BCM film growth is governed by electrostatic and hydrogen-bonding interactions between the oppositely BCMs. Both film porosity and film thickness are dependent upon the charge density of the micelles, with the porosity of the film controlled by the solution pH and the molecular weight (Mw) of the constituents. PS7K-b-P4VP28K/PS2K-b-PAA8K films prepared at pH 4 (for PS7K-b-P4VP28K) and pH 6 (for PS2K-b-PAA8K) are highly nanoporous and antireflective. In contrast, PS7K-b-P4VP28K/PS2K-b-PAA8K films assembled at pH 4/4 show a relatively dense surface morphology due to the decreased charge density of PS2K-b-PAA8K. Films formed from BCMs with increased PS block and decreased hydrophilic block (P4VP or PAA) size (e.g., PS36K-b-P4VP12K/PS16K-b-PAA4K at pH 4/4) were also nanoporous. Furthermore, we demonstrate that the nanostructured electrochemical sensors based on patterning methods show the electrochemical activities. Anionic poly(styrene sulfonate) (PSS) layers were selectively and uniformly deposited onto the catalase (CAT)-coated surface using the micro-contact printing method. The pH-induced charge reversal of catalase can provide the selective deposition of consecutive PE multilayers onto patterned PSS layers by causing the electrostatic repulsion between next PE layer and catalase. Based on this patterning method, the hybrid patterned multilayers composed of platinum nanoparticles (PtNP) and catalase were prepared and then their electrochemical properties were investigated from sensing $H_2O_2$ and NO gas.   • The crystal structure of sulfamethoxypyridazine has been solved by the direct method and refined by least squares methods from three-dimensional data collected by the multiple-film technique to a final residual of 8.5%. Two molecules (A and B) in one asymmetric unit are different each other in the conformation about S-N(2) bond, and are linked together by N(2A)H${\ldots}$N(3B) and N(2B)H${\ldots}$O(1A)S hydrogen bonds. Benzene and pyridazine rings make the angles of $89^{\circ}$ and $77^{\circ}$ for molecules A and B respectively.

Identification of Calcium/Calmodulin-Dependent Phosphatase as the Dephosphorylating Enzyme of IgE-Dependent Histamine-Releasing Factor in RBL-2H3 (RBL-2H3 세포에서 IgE-depnedent Histamine-releasing Factor의 탈인산화 효소에 관한 연구)

  • IgE-dependent histamine-releasing factor(HRF) was initially described as a secretagogue for secretion of histamine from IgE+ basophils from a subset of allergic donors. Previously, we identified that S98 residue of HRF was phosphorylated using anti-HRFpS98 antibody which specifically recognizes the phosphorylated serine residue of HRF and HRFS98A mutant construct. In vitro kinase assay, only wild type HRF was phosphorylated by PKC, and S98A HRF was not affected by PKC. In this study, we attempted to characterize the phosphatase which specifically dephosphorylates HRF by immunoprecipitation and pull-down assay. In RBL-2H3 cells, HRF interacted only with calcineurin (also called as PP2B, calcium/calmodulin-dependent phosphatase) but not with PP1 or PP2A. The results suggest that HRF is most likely dephosphory-lated by calcineurin.

Inhibition of IgM Secretion in Murine B Cell Lymphoma by Hydrogen Peroxide

  • Reactive of gen species (ROS) contribute to several cellular function and are involved in the regulation of signal transduction, gene expression, and proliferation. In the present study, we investigated the effect of $H_2O_2$ treatment on IgM secretion in LPS-stimulated murine B Iymphoma, CH12.LX. Cells were treated directly With $H_2O_2$ and stimulated with LPS. $H_2O_2$ treatment during 72 h time period inhibited IgM secretion in LPS-stimulated CH12.LX cells in a dose- and time-dependent manners. After treatment with 50 $\mu\textrm{M}$ $H_2O_2$ during 72 h time period, the level of IgM in LPS-stimulated CH12.LX cells was markedly decreased, whereas cell viability was not significantly changed. Addition of $H_2O_2$ concomitantly with LPS, or 12 h post-LPS stimulation, produced a significant inhibition of IgM secretion, Whereas inhibitory effect of $H_2O_2$ on IgM secretion was not observed when added 24 h after LPS stimulation. These findings suggest that $H_2O_2$ can inhibit the secretion of IgM in LPS-stimulated CH15.LX cells, and may alter the events necessary for terminal B cell differentiation.

Synthesis of Boron-doped Crystalline Si Nanoparticles Synthesized by Using Inductive Coupled Plasma and Double Tube Reactor (유도결합 플라즈마와 이중관 반응기를 이용하여 제조한 보론-도핑된 결정질 실리콘 나노입자의 합성)

  • B-doped Si nanoparticles were synthesized by using inductive coupled plasma and specially designed double tube reactor, and their microstructures were investigated. 0~10 sccm of $B_2H_6$ gas was injected during the synthesis of Si nanoparticles from $SiH_4$ gas. Highly crystalline Si nanoparticles were synthesized, and their crystallinity did not change with increase of $B_2H_6$ flow rates. From SEM measurement, their particle sizes were approximately 30 nm regardless of $B_2H_6$ flow rates. From SIMS analysis, almost saturation of B in Si nanoparticles was detected only when 1 sccm of $B_2H_6$ was injected. When $B_2H_6$ flow rate exceeded 5 sccm, higher concentration of B than solubility limit was detected even if any secondary phase was not detected in XRD or HR-TEM results. Due to their high electronic conductivity, those heavily B-doped Si nanoparticles can be a potential candidate for an active material in Li-ion battery anode.

  • Let $\mathcal{B}(H)$ and $\mathcal{B}(K)$ denote the algebras of all bounded linear operators on Hilbert spaces $\mathcal{H}$ and $\mathcal{K}$, respectively. We show that if ${\phi}:\mathcal{B}(H){\rightarrow}\mathcal{B}(K)$ is an additive mapping satisfying ${\phi}({\mid}A{\mid}^2)={\mid}{\phi}(A){\mid}^2$ for every $A{\in}\mathcal{B}(H)$, then there exists a mapping ${\psi}$ defined by ${\psi}(A)={\phi}(I){\phi}(A)$, ${\forall}A{\in}\mathcal{B}(H)$ such that ${\psi}$ is the sum of $two^*$-homomorphisms one of which C-linear and the othere C-antilinear. We will also study some conditions implying the injective and rank-preserving of ${\psi}$.

Phase Transformation by Cu Diffusion of Electrolessly Deposited Ni-B Diffusion Barrier for Cu Interconnect (Cu 미세 배선을 위한 무전해 Ni-B 확산 방지막의 Cu 확산에 따른 상변태 거동)

  • The phase transformation of Ni-B diffusion barrier by Cu diffusion was studied. The Ni-B diffusion barrier, thickness of 10(Inn, was electrolessly deposited on the electroplated Cu interconnect. The specimens were annealed either in Ar atmosphere or in $H_2$ atmosphere from $300^{\circ}C\;to\;800^{\circ}C$ for 30min, respectively. Although the Ni-B coated specimens showed the decomposition of $Ni_3B$ above $400^{\circ}C$ in both Ar atmosphere and $H_2$ atmosphere, Ni-B powders did not show the decomposition of $Ni_3B$. The $Ni_3B$ was decomposed to Ni and B in hi atmospherr: and the metallic Ni formed the solid solution with Cu and the free B was oxidized to $B_2O_3$. However, both the boron hydride and free B were not observed in the diffusion barrier after the annealing in $H_2$ atmos There. These results revealed that the decomposition of $Ni_3B$ by Cu made the Cu diffusion continued toward the Ni-B diffusion barrier.
