분무열분해 공정에서 붕소 농도에 따른 Gd2O3:Eu 형광체의 GdBO3:Eu 형광체로의 전환 (Transition of Gd2O3:Eu Phosphor to GdBO3:Eu Phosphor with Boron Concentration in the Spray Pyrolysis)

  • The transition of europium-doped gadolinium oxide phosphor to gadolinium borate phosphor with the concentration of boron in the spray pyrolysis was investigated. The particles prepared from spray solution below 10 wt% boric acid of prepared phosphor had crystal structure of $Gd_2O_3:Eu$ phosphor, in which the crystallinity of the particles decreased with increasing the boron concentration. A single phase $GdBO_3:Eu$ phosphor particles were prepared from spray solution above 50 wt% boric acid of prepared phosphor. The phosphor particles prepared from spray solution with 20 wt% boric acid of prepared phosphor had no XRD peaks of $Gd_2O_3:Eu$ and $GdBO_3:Eu$ Therefore the phosphor particles prepared from spray solution with 20 wt% boric acid of prepared phosphor had the lowest photoluminescence intensity under ultraviolet and vacuum ultraviolet. $GdBO_3:Eu$ and $Gd_2O_3:Eu$ phosphor particles prepared from spray solutions with proper concentrations of boric acid had good photoluminescence intensity under vacuum ultraviolet. The morphology of the phosphor particles were strongly affected by the concentrations of boric acid added into spray solution.

  • Nanosized $Gd_2O_3:Eu^{3+}$ red phosphor is prepared using a template method from metal salt impregnated into a crystalline cellulose and is dispersed using a bead mill wet process. The driving force of the surface coating between $Gd_2O_3:Eu^{3+}$ and mica is induced by the Coulomb force. The red phosphor nanosol is effectively coated on mica flakes by the electrostatic interaction between positively charged $Gd_2O_3:Eu^{3+}$ and negatively charged mica above pH 6. To prepare $Gd_2O_3:Eu^{3+}$-coated mica ($Gd_2O_3:Eu/mica$), the coating conditions are optimized, including the stirring temperature, pH, calcination temperature, and coating amount (wt%) of $Gd_2O_3:Eu^{3+}$. In spite of the low luminescence of the $Gd_2O_3:Eu/mica$, the luminescent property is recovered after calcination above $600^{\circ}C$ and is enhanced by increasing the $Gd_2O_3:Eu^{3+}$ coating amount. The $Gd_2O_3:Eu/mica$ is characterized using X-ray diffraction, field emission scanning electron microscopy, zeta potential measurements, and fluorescence spectrometer analysis.

  • 전구체인 (Y,Gd,Eu)(OH)$CO_3$.$H_2O$$900^{\circ}C$에서 열처리하여 얻은 분말을 플라즈마 디스플레이용 적색 형광체 $(Y,Gd)_2O_3$: Eu를 제조하기 위하여 이용하였다. 크기가 대략 1$\mu\textrm{m}$의 구형 형광체 $(Y,Gd)_2O_3$: Eu는 위의 분말에 소량의 융제를 첨가하여 $1350^{\circ}C$에서 2시간 소성하면 얻을 수 있다. 제조된 형광체의 발광 스펙트럼은 여기원이 254 nm와 147 nm인 파장에서 측정하였으며 최적인 활성제의 농도는 254 nm 하에서는 15 몰 %, 147 nm에서는 10 몰 %로 결정되었다. 또한 발광세기를 비교한 결과 BaCO$_3$, $AlF_3$$Li_3PO_4$$BaCO_3$가 가장 우수한 것으로 나타났다. 최적화된 형광체 $(Y,Gd)_2O_3$: Eu의 상대 휘도 및 색좌표는 상용품인 $Y_2O_3$: Eu 보다 개선되는 것으로 평가되고 있다.

  • We present a new toed phosphor, $Gd_{2-x-y}Li_xEu_yO_3$ with superior luminescent Properties compared to the commercially available red phosphor $Y_2O_3:Eu^{3+}$. The phosphor, with a diameter of about $2\mu\textrm{m}$, consists of the psedospherical particles in a regular array. The photoluminescence measurements as a function of the laser power and the Eu mole fraction were performed at zoom temperature The luminescence intensity linearly increases as both the laser power and the Eu mole fraction Increase. As for the dependence on cathodoluminescence, the incorporation of Eu and Li ions into $Gd_2O_3$ lattice brings about an increase in luminescent efficiency. The highest emission intensity for the phosphor occurs at the applied voltage of 500 V, its value is larger than that of $Y_2O_3:Eu^{3+}$ powder by 70%.

  • $Gd_2$$O_3$:Eu phosphor particles with nano-sized and non-aggregation characteristics were prepared by spray pyrolysis using the spray solution containing polymeric precursor and $Li_2$$CO_3$ flux material. Nano-sized $Gd_2$$O_3$:Eu phosphor particles had higher brightness than the commercial $Y_2$$O_3$:Eu phosphor particles. The $Gd_2$$O_3$:Eu phosphor particles had nano-size and non-aggregation characteristics after heat-treatment at $1000^{\circ}C$ when the addition amount of $Li_2$$CO_3$ flux was 1 wt.% and 3 wt.%. The mean size of particles were 200 nm and 400 nm when the amount of flux was 1 wt.% and 3 wt.%, respectively. The prepared phosphor particles had higher photoluminescence intensity than that of the commercial product regardless of the content of$ Li_2$$CO_3$ flux and had the maximum brightness when the content of flux was 5 wt %. The photoluminescence intensity of the nano-sized $Gd_2$$O_3$:Eu phosphor particles containing 3 wt.% $Li_2$$CO_3$ flux was 125% in comparison with that of the micron-sized $Y_2$$O_3$:Eu commercial product.

  • In this paper, we have synthesized $Gd_2O_3:Eu^{3+}$ nano phosphor particle using a low temperature solution-combustion method. We have investigated the structure and the luminescent characteristic as the sintering temperature and europium concentration. From XRD(X-ray diffraction) and SEM(scanning electron microscope) results, we have verified that the phosphor particle was fabricated a spherical shape with $30{\sim}40nm$ particle size. From the photoluminescence results, the strong peak exhibits at 611 um and the luminescent intensity depends on europium concentration. $Gd_2O_3:Eu$ fine phosphor particle has shown excellent luminescent efficiency at 5 wt% of europium concentration. The phosphors calcinated at $500^{\circ}C$ have possessed the x-ray peaks corresponding to the cubic phase of $Gd_2O_3$. As calcinations temperature increased to $700^{\circ}C$, the new monoclinic phase has identified except cubic patterns. From the luminescent decay time measurements, mean lifetimes were $2.3{\sim}2.6ms$ relatively higher than conventional bulk phosphors. These results indicate that $Gd_2O_3:Eu$ nano phosphor is possible for the operation at the low x-ray dose, therefore, the application as medical imaging detector.

  • 졸겔법을 사용하여 $Gd_{1.9-x}Li_{0.1}Eu_xO_3$(x=0.02, 0.05, 0.08, 0.12) 형광체 분말을 합성하였다. 형광체 입자의 표면을 나노 크기의 $SiO_2$(입자크기${\thickapprox}30 nm$)로 코팅한 후 스핀-코팅법으로 유리 기판에 형광체 막을 제작하였다. 유리의 연화온도인 $700^{\circ}C$ 부근에서 융착 되는 $SiO_2$ 나노 입자들에 의해 $Gd_{1.9-x}Li_{0.1}Eu_xO_3$ 입자들은 유리 기판 표면 위에 강하게 융착 되었다(>9H, 연필 경도계). 본 연구에서 채택한, 형광체 막을 제조하는 간단하고 비용이 저렴한 이 방법은 디스플레이장치의 응용 분야에 적용될 수 있을 것으로 생각한다.

  • $Y_{2-x}Gd_xO_3:Eu$, phosphors for plasma display panel(PDP), were prepared by Pechini method which use yttriun chloride, gadolinium chloride, and europium oxide as starting materials. This method is a different way to the synthesis of europium(Eu)-doped phosphors, and it consists of the formation of a polymeric resin obtained by polyesterification between metal chelate compounds and a polyfunctional alcohol. This needs lower temperature than solid-state synthetic method. The prepared $Y_{2-x}Gd_xO_3:Eu$ phosphor particles had spherical shape and coherence. The luminescence intensity of $Y_{2-x}Gd_xO_3:Eu$ phosphor particles increased according to the increase of gadolinium(Gd) content(to 0.8mol%), and $Y_{1.2}Gd_{0.8}O_3:Eu$ phosphors had the highest luminescence intensity under vacuum ultra violet(VUV) excitation. The optimum concentration of Eu in the phosphor and optimum calcination temperature was 3wt% and $1100^{\circ}C$. The prepared phosphors were consist of particle, and its size was between 100nm and 150nm. Among the different polyfunctional alcohols, diethylene glycol(DEG) improved the luminescence intensities of phosphors more than other additives. The Pechini method proved that it is demonstrated to be suitable for the synthesis of phosphors used in PDP.

Eu3+ 이온이 첨가된 바나듐산염의 형광특성 연구 (A Study on the Luminescence Properties of Eu3+ Ions Doped Vanadate)

  • 형광체 내 모체로 사용될 때 활성 이온 주위에 분포하여 형광 특성에 많은 영향을 미치는 알칼리 토금속인 $Ba^{2+}$ 이온을 기반으로 하는 바나데이트 화합물인 $Ba_2GdV_3O_{11}$에 희토류 이온 $Eu^{3+}$를 첨가하여 형광 강도 및 형광 수명을 연구하였다. 고상법을 이용하여 $Ba_2GdV_3O_{11}:Eu^{3+}$ 형광체를 합성하였으며 X선 회절 분석을 통하여 형광체의 결정성을 확인하였다. $Ba_2GdV_3O_{11}:Eu^{3+}$ 형광체의 형광특성은 광학 및 레이저를 이용하여 측정하였다. $Ba_2GdV_3O_{11}:Eu^{3+}$ 형광체의 에너지 전이와 확산은 $Eu^{3+}$의 농도에 크게 의존한다. $Eu^{3+}$의 농도가 낮을 때 CT 밴드로의 강한 형광을 보이나 $Eu^{3+}$의 농도가 높아질수록 4f - 4f 전이에 의한 형광이 강하게 나타난다. $Eu^{3+}$ 이온의 농도 증가로 인해 이온 간의 에너지가 확산되어 형광의 수명시간은 감소하였다. 에너지 전이는 낮은 $Eu^{3+}$ 농도에서 두 $Eu^{3+}$ 이온 사이에서 발생하며 에너지 확산은 높은 $Eu^{3+}$ 농도에서 크게 발생한다.

  • High brightness (Y$_{x}$/Gd$_{1-x}$ )$_2$O$_3$:Eu Phosphor Particles were directly Prepared in the spray Pyrolysis by adding flux materials such as LiCl and HBO$_3$. The (Y$_{x}$/Gd$_{1-x}$ )$_2$O$_3$:Eu particles prepared from solution with flux material had higher PL (photoluminescence) intensities than those prepared from solution without flux. In the spray pyrolysis, the flux acts as promoter of the growth of crystallite and activation of doping material as in the solid state reaction method. Additionally, the flux improved PL intensity of (Y$_{x}$/Gd$_{1-x}$ )$_2$O$_3$:Eu phosphor particles by densifying the internal structure and eliminating the defect existing inside and surface of (Y$_{x}$/Gd$_{1-x}$ )$_2$O$_3$:Eu phosphor particles.r particles.
