In this work, highly uniform size-controlled $Cu_2O$ nanocubes can be successfully formed by means of pulse electrodeposition. The size distribution, crystal structure, and chemical state of deposited $Cu_2O$ nanocubes are characterized using scanning electron microscopy, transmission electron microscopy, X-ray diffraction and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy. The phase transition from $Cu_2O$ to Cu can be controlled by constant current electrodeposition as a function of deposition time. In particular, the size of the $Cu_2O$ nanocubes can be controlled using pulse electrodeposition as a function of applied current density.

Cuprous oxide ($Cu_2O$) is one of the potential candidates as an absorber layer in ultra-low-cost solar cells. $Cu_2O$ is highly desirable semiconducting oxide material for use in solar energy conversion due to its direct band gap ($E_g={\sim}2.1eV$) and high absorption coefficient that absorbs visible light of wavelength up to 650 nm. In addition, $Cu_2O$ has other several advantages such as non-toxicity, low cost and also can be prepared with simple and cheap methods on large scale. In this work, we deposited the $Cu_2O$ thin films by electrodeposition on gold coated $SiO_2/Si$ wafers. We changed the process conditions such as pH of the solution, applied potential on working electrode, and solution temperature. Finally, we confirmed the structural properties of the thin films by XRD and SEM.

Assembling heterostructures by combining dissimilar oxide semiconductors is a promising approach to enhance charge separation and transfer in photoelectrochemical (PEC) water splitting. In this work, the CuO nanorods array/$Cu_2O$ thin film bilayered heterostructure was successfully fabricated by a facile method that involved a direct electrodeposition of the $Cu_2O$ thin film onto the vertically oriented CuO nanorods array to serve as the photoelectrode for the PEC water oxidation. The resulting copper-oxide-based heterostructure photoelectrode exhibited an enhanced PEC performance compared to common copper-oxide-based photoelectrodes, indicating good charge separation and transfer efficiency due to the band structure realignment at the interface. The photocurrent density and the optimal photocurrent conversion efficiency obtained on the CuO nanorods/$Cu_2O$ thin film heterostructure were $0.59mA/cm^2$ and 1.10% at 1.06 V vs. RHE, respectively. These results provide a promising route to fabricating earth-abundant copper-oxide-based photoelectrode for visible-light-driven hydrogen generation using a facile, low-cost, and scalable approach of combining electrodeposition and hydrothermal synthesis.
The effect of cupric ion concentration on the throwing power has been studied in the electrodeposition of Cu on the porous reticular electrodes with the electrolytes of $CuSO_4\;and\;H_2SO_4$. Sulfuric acid electrolytes with lower concentration of $CuSO_4$ improved throwing power in electrodeposition of copper not only due to higher cathodic polarizability but also due to higher conductivity of the electrolytes. The increase in conductivity of the electrolytes at low concentration of $CuSO_4$ could be also illustrated by the decrease in viscosity of the electrolytes. It was found that both the throwing power and the limiting current density should be taken into account in the electrodeposition of Cu on the reticular electrodes. According to the experimental results, the electrolyte of 0.2M $CuSO_4$ and 0.5M $H_2SO_4$ was found to be the most appropriate condition at the current density of $10mA/cm^2$.
$SnO_2$ was electrodeposited on nodule-type Cu foil at varing current density and electrodeposition time. Unlike the previous research results, when the anodic current is applied, the $SnO_2$ layer was not electrodeposited and the substrate is corroded. When the cathodic current was applied, the $SnO_2$ layer could be successfully deposited. At this time, the surface microstructure of the powdery type was observed, which showed similar crystallinity to amorphous and had a very large surface area. Crystallinity increased after low-temperature heat treatment at $250^{\circ}C$ or lower. As a result of evaluating the charge/discharge performances as an anode material for lithium ion battery, it was confirmed that the capacity of the heat treated $SnO_2$ was increased more than 2 times, but it still showed a limit point showing initial low coulombic efficiency and low cyclability. However, it was confirmed that the battery performances may be enhanced through optimizing the electrodeposition process and introducing post heat treatment.

Cu2O films as a photocathode for photoelectrochemical water splitting were potentiostatically deposited on FTO glasses. The morphology and composition of the electrodeposited Cu2O films were adjusted by the applied potentials. The potential-dependent grain size of Cu2O films was characterized by XRD and SEM analysis. Photoelectrochemical properties of the fabricated Cu2O photocathodes were investigated with photocurrents as a function of potentials under 1 sun condition of 100mW/㎠. Photocurrents of the electrodeposited Cu2O films were controlled with the tailored surface morphologies of Cu2O photocathodes.

Sn-based lithium-ion batteries have low cost and high theoretical specific capacity. However, one of major problem is the capacity fading caused by volume expansion during lithiation/delithiation. In this study, 3-dimensional foam structure of Cu-Sn alloy is prepared by co-electrodeposition including large free space to accommodate the volume expansion of Sn. The Cu-Sn foam structure exhibits highly porous and numerous small grains. The result of EDX mapping and XPS spectrum analysis confirm that Cu-Sn foam consists of $SnO_2$ with a small quantity of CuO. The Cu-Sn foam structure electrode shows high reversible redox peaks in cyclic voltammograms. The galvanostatic cell cycling performances show that Cu-Sn foam electrode has high specific capacity of 687 mAh/g at a current rate of 50 mA/g. Through SEM observation after the charge/discharge processes, the morphology of Cu-Sn foam structure is mostly maintained despite large volume expansion during the repeated lithiation/delithiation reactions.

We have performed the electrochemical method to fabricate high temperature superconducting (TlPbBi) -(SrBa)-Ca-Cu-O films. The precursors of the superconducting sample were codeposited at a periodic pulsed-potential cycle (1 second at -4V and 1 second at -1V) on a silver substrate. The variation of structure, microstructure and element were analysed by ICP and SEM techniques. The specimens were consisted predominantly of the Tl-1212 phase and have a transition temperature of 80~87 K in low magnetic field. It was showed that each grain has the stoichiometric ratio of $T1_{0.7}$Pb_$Bi_{0.3}$$_Sr{0.1}$$Ba_{2.4}$$Ca_{0.2}$$Cu_{1.2}$$2.5/O_{x}$ by EDX analysis.sis.
