자동차 전장품용 무연솔더 접합부의 시리즈 시험 유효성 (Validation of sequence test method of Pb-free solder joint for automotive electronics)

  • Due to environmental regulations (RoHS, WEEE and ELV) of the European Union, electronics and automotive electronics have to eliminate toxic substance from electronic devices and system. Specifically, reliability issue of lead-free solder joint have an increasing demand for the car electronics caused by ELV banning. The authors prepared engine control unit and cabin electronics soldered with Sn-3.0Ag-0.5Cu (SAC305). To compare with the degradation characteristics of solder joint strength, thermal cycling test (TC), power-thermal cycling test (PTC) and series tests were conducted. Series tests were conducted for TC and PTC combined stress test using the same sample in sequence and continuously. TC test was performed at $-40{\sim}125^{\circ}C$ and soak time 10 min for 1000 cycles. PTC test was applied by pulse power and full function conditions during 100 cycles. Combined stress test was tested in accordance with automotive company standard. Solder joint degradation was observed by optical microscopy and environment scanning electron microscopy (ESEM). In addition, to compare with deterioration of bond strength of quad flat package (QFP) and chip components, we have measured lead pull and shear strength. Based on the series test results, consequently, we have validated of series test method for lifetime and reliability of Pb-free solder joint in automotive electronics.

Enhanced pectinase and β-glucosidase enzyme production by a Bacillus subtilis strain under blue light-emitting diodes

  • Bacillus subtilis B22, a chemotrophic and aerobic bacterial strain was isolated from homemade kimchi, identified by 16S rRNA gene sequencing. B22 was primarily screened by biochemical, carbon source utilization tests. B22 was used to produce pectinase and ${\beta}$-glucosidase by submerged fermentation under different light sources. B22 was incubated in pectin media and basal media (pH 7.0) under blue, green, red and white light-emitting diodes (LEDs), fluorescent white light, and in darkness at $37^{\circ}C$, orbital shaker 150 rpm for 24 hours. Fermentation under blue LEDs maximized pectinase production ($71.59{\pm}1.6U/mL$ at 24 h) and ${\beta}$-glucosidase production ($56.31{\pm}1.6U/mL$ at 24 h). Further, the production of enzyme increased to pectinase ($156{\pm}1.28U/mL$) and ${\beta}$-glucosidase ($172{\pm}1.28U/mL$) with 3% glucose as a carbon source. Activity and stability of the partially purified enzymes were higher at pH 6.0 to 8.0 and $25-55^{\circ}C$. The effect on the metal ions $Na^+$ and $K^+$ and (moderateactivity) $Mn^{2+}$ and $Ni^{2+}$ increased activity, while $Hg^{2+}$, $Cu^{2+}$, $Fe^{2+}$, and $Fe^{2+}$ inhibited activity. EDTA, phenylmethylsulfonyl fluoride and 5,5-dithiobis (2-nitrobenzoicacid) reduced activity, while tetrafluoroethylene and 1,10-phenanthroline inhibited activity. The amylase was highly tolerant of the surfactants TritonX-100, Tween-20, Tween-80 and compatible with organic solvents methanol, ethanol, isoamylalcohol, isopropanol, t-butylalcohol and the oxidizing agents hydrogen peroxide, sodium perborate and sodium hypochlorite, although potassium iodide and ammonium persulfate reduced activity. These properties suggest utility of pectinase and ${\beta}$-glucosidase produced by B. subtilis B22 under blue LED-mediated fermentation for industrial applications.

품종별 지황의 일반성분, 무기질 및 당 조성 (Proximate, Mineral and Sugar Composition of Rehmannia glutinosa by Cultivars)

  • Proximate composition, reducing sugar, and mineral content of several cultivars of Rehmannia glutinosa were analyzed. the moisture and soluble solid content of fresh Rehmannia glutinosa ('Korea', 'Kokang', 'Sewon 10', 'Sewon 11' and 'Jihwang 1') were 74.6~78.4% and $19.6{\sim}22.4^{\circ}Brix$, respectively. Proximate composition of dried Rehmannia glutinosa ranged from 82.91~86.94% carbohydrate, 3.38~5.70% crude protein, 2.5~3.0% crude ash and 3.47~3.80% fiber. Sugar composition by HPLC/ELSD showed that sucrose (4.49~7.75 g/100 g), raffinose (2.96~4.78 g/100 g) and stachyose (42.36~45.87 g/100 g) were present, whereas monosaccharides were not detected in 5 cultivars of dried Rehmannia glutinosa. Mineral compositions of dried Rehmannia glutinosa by ICP-AES were Ca (639.9~782.0 ppm), Fe (128.5~634.9 ppm), Na (119~150 ppm), K (6,639.1~10,448.0 ppm), Mg (372.2~981.8 ppm) and Zn (8.8~474.2 ppm). However, Co and Mo were not detected. Among 5 cultivars of Rehmannia glutinosa, 'Kokang' and 'Sewon 10' contain higher amounts of Fe, Ca, K, Mg, Cu and Zn than the other cultivars.

Emission Detection of Mercuric Ions in Aqueous Media Based-on Dehybridization of DNA Duplexes

  • To quantify the presence of mercuric ions in aqueous solution, double-stranded DNA (dsDNA) of poly(dT) was employed using a light switch compound, $Ru(phen)_2(dppz)^{2+}$ (1) which is reported to intercalate into dsDNA of a right-handed B-form. Addition of mercuric ions induced the dehybridization of poly(dT)${\cdot}$poly(dA) duplexes to form a hairpin structure of poly(dT) at room temperature and the metal-to-ligand charge transfer emission derived from the intercalation of 1 was reduced due to the dehybridization of dsDNA. As the concentration of $Hg^{2+}$ was increased, the emission of 1 progressively decreased. This label-free emission method had a detection limit of 0.2 nM. Other metal ions, such as $K^+$, $Ag^+$, $Ca^{2+}$, $Mg^{2+}$, $Zn^{2+}$, $Mn^{2+}$, $Co^{2+}$, $Ni^{2+}$, $Cu^{2+}$, $Cd^{2+}$, $Cr^{3+}$, $Fe^{3+}$, had no significant effect on reducing emission. This emission method can differentiate matched and mismatched poly(dT) sequences based on the emission intensity of dsDNA.

CBD 방법에 의한 ZnS 버퍼층 형성의 착화제 농도에 따른 영향 (Effect of the Concentration of Complexing Agent on the Formation of ZnS Buffer Layer by CBD Method)

  • ZnS was chemically deposited as a buffer layer alternative to CdS, for use as a Cd-free buffer layer in $Cu(In_{1-x}Ga_x)Se_2$ (CIGS) solar cells. The deposition of a thin film of ZnS was carried out by chemical bath deposition, following which the structural and optical properties of the ZnS layer were studied. For the experiments, zinc sulfate hepta-hydrate ($ZnSO_4{\cdot}7H_2O$), thiourea ($SC(NH_2)_2$), and ammonia ($NH_4OH$) were used as the reacting agents. The mole concentrations of $ZnSO_4$ and $SC(NH_2)_2$ were fixed at 0.03 M and 0.8 M, respectively, while that of ammonia, which acts as a complexing agent, was varied from 0.3 M to 3.5 M. By varying the mole concentration of ammonia, optimal values for parameters like optical transmission, deposition rate, and surface morphology were determined. For the fixed mole concentrations of $0.03M\;ZnSO_4{\cdot}7H_2O$ and $0.8M\;SC(NH_2)_2$, it was established that 3.0 M of ammonia could provide optimal values of the deposition rate (5.5 nm/min), average optical transmittance (81%), and energy band gap (3.81 eV), rendering the chemically deposited ZnS suitable for use as a Cd-free buffer layer in CIGS solar cells.

준정적 압축하에서 구조용 벌크 아몰퍼스 금속의 변형 및 파괴거동 (Deformation and Fracture Behavior of Structural Bulk Amorphous Metal under Quasi-Static Compressive Loading)

  • The deformation and fracture behaviors of a bulk amorphous metal, Zr-based one (Zr$\_$41.2/Ti$\_$13.8/Cu$\_$12.5/Ni$\_$10/Be$\_$22.5/: Vitreloy), were investigated over a strain rate range (7x10$\^$-4/~4 s$\^$-1/). The uniaxial compression test and the indentation test using 3mm-diameter WC balls were carried out under quasi-static loading conditions. As a result, at the uniaxial compressive state, the fracture stress of the material was very high (~1,700MPa) and the elastic strain limit was about 2%. The fracture strength showed a strain rate independent behavior up to 4 s$\^$-1/. Using indentation tests, the plastic deformation behavior of the Zr-based BAM up to a large strain value of 15% could be achieved, even though it was the deformation under locally constrained condition. The Meyer hardness of the Zr-based BAM measured by static indentation tests was about 5 GPa and it revealed negligible strain hardening behavior. At indented sites, the plastic indentation occurred forming a crater and well-developed multiple shear bands were generated around it along the direction of 45 degree when the indentation load exceeded 7kN. With increasing indentation load, shear bands became dense. The fracture surface of the specimen after uniaxial compressive tests showed vein-like pattern, typical morphology of many BAMs.

Purification and Anticoagulant Activity of a Fucoidan from Korean Undaria pinnatifida Sporophyll

  • Crude fucoidan was extracted from the sporophyll of Korean Undaria pinnatifida collected at a coastal area ofWando, Korea, mainly by dilute acid extraction, ethanol precipitation, CaCU Precipitation, with an yield of approxi-mately 3.9% in mass. It was further purified by DEAE-cellulose column chromatography and its chemical composi-don and in vitro anticoagulant activity was determined. The average molecular mass of the purified fucoidan wasestimated about 2.1 x 103 kDa by size-fractionation HPLC and it consisted of neutral sugar (52.34% in mass), uronicacid (26.2%), and sulfate esters (7.4%). From the HPAEC-PAD analysis, the monosaccharide composition of thepurified fucoidan was shown to be fucose, galactose, xylose, and mannose, with a molar ratio of 1, 0.2, 0.02, 0.15,respectively, demonstrating that major monosacd-iande was fucose (72.3% in mol percentage) and other sugars,xylose (1.5%), galactose (14.6%), and mannose (10.9%) were present as minor component. The results suggested thatthis fucoidan is a sulfated, U-type fucoidan. The activated partial thrombloplastin time (APTT) assay of the purifiedfucoidan showed that the purified fucoidan elicited anticoagulant activity in a dose-dependent manner. Five jUg ofsporophyll fucoidan delayed the blood clotting time up to 5 times than untreated control and also up to 1.5 timesthan the same amount of the commercial fucoidan, respectively. Although it is preliminary, these results suggestthat the fucoidan of Korean Undaria vinnatifida sporophyll would be promising candidates for the development ofan anticoaeulant.

성·복토용으로 사용된 전로제강슬래그가 주변 토양환경에 미치는 영향 (Effect of Basic Oxygen Furnace Slag used as Structural Filling Materials on the Subsurface Environment)

  • The effect of blast oxygen furnace (BOF) slag used as filling materials on the soil environment was studied using column tests that simulated the flow of the BOF slag leachate through the soil layer. The Cu, Mn, Zn, Ni, and F contents of the leachate affected soil were similar to that of the controls (i.e., soils that were not affected by the leachate). The As, Cd, and Pb contents were lower in the leachate affected soils than the controls. The changes in these contaminants contents can be attributed to the interactions between anions such as alkalinity generating anions (e.g., CO32−, HCO3, OH) or calcium ions with heavy metals or F, which consequently affected the fate of heavy metals and F in the leachate affected soils. The germination and growth of Spinapis alba in the soils affected by the leachate and the controls were also similar. However, the proportion of alkalophilic bacteria in the soils affected by the leachate significantly increased, and this can be explained by the increased soil pH due to the alkaline leachate. Overall, this study shows that the alkalinity of the BOF slag leachate, rather than the presence of heavy metals and F in the leachate, needs to be considered when the BOF slag is to be reused as structural filling materials.

폐 타이어에 의한 고장폐수 내의 중금속 제거에 관한 연구 (A study on the Removal of Heavy Metals from Industrial Wastewater by Treatment with Discarded Automotive Tires)

  • 산업발달로 인하여 산업공장에서 다량의 중금속이 배출되어 하천을 오염시키고 있다. 이로 인하여 수중생물에도 중금속이 축적되고, 농업용수로 이용한 농촌의 토양을 오염시키고 농작물에 중금속이 축척되는 것을 알 수 있다. 이러한 피해를 줄이기 위한 방안으로 물속에 용해되어 있는 각종 중금속을 제거시키는 것이 가장 시급한 문제이다. 따라서 본 연구에서는 폐 타이어를 이용하여 중금속중 카드뮴, 구리, 아연, 은 등의 이온을 흡착, 제거하기 위한 실험을 행했으며, 동시에 활성탄에 의한 실험을 행함으로써 폐 타이어의 효율을 비교 고찰한다. 따라서 폐기물 재활용과 공장폐수 처리장의 시설 및 운영비 절감면의 경제성에도 목적이 있다. 중금속 농도는 Automic Absorption Spectrophotometer로 측정하였으며, 온도, 흡착제주입량, 흡착제의 크기, 원수의 농도, 접촉시간 등에 따른 흡착평형식을 실험하여 흡착능을 알아내고, 또한 Column 실험을 통하여 접촉시간에 따른 중금속제거 특성과 흡착제의 여상깊이의 변화에 따른 중금속제거를 추정하여 BDST(Bed Depth/Service Time)식을 설정하여 실제 중금속 처리를 위한 설계치를 제시한다.

전기영동법에 의한 탄소나노튜브 및 탄소나노섬유 강화 탄소섬유 하이브리드 복합재료 (CNT and CNF reinforced carbon fiber hybrid composites by electrophoresis deposition)

  • 탄소섬유 복합재료의 전기전도도와 기계적 강도를 높이기 위하여 음극 및 양극 전기영동법을 이용하여 탄소나노튜브(MWCNT)와 탄소나노섬유(CNF)를 탄소섬유직물에 부착하였다. 양극 전기영동에서는 MWCNT와 CNF의 탄소나노 입자들만이 탄소 섬유에 부착되었으나, 음극 전기영동에서는 MWCNT와 CNF 및 나노 크기의 구리 입자가 동시에 탄소섬유직물에 부착되었고 이에 따라 부착 밀도 및 복합재료 물성의 증대라는 시너지 효과를 거둘 수 있었다. 특히 나노 크기의 탄소나노입자 및 마이크로 크기의 탄소 섬유가 혼합된 멀티스케일 복합재료의 제조를 통해 두께 방향 전기전도도의 높은 향상을 얻었다. 또한 MWCNT와 CNF를 동시에 멀티스케일 복합재료에 적용하였을 경우, 각각을 적용한 경우보다 두께 방향 전기전도도가 높게 나타났다.
