The Corrosion Control Using CCPP(Calcium Carbonate Precipitation Potential )Index in Metallic Coupons ($CaCO_3$침전능 조절에 의한 금속시편에서의 부식방지)

  • The purpose of this study was to evaluate the effects of $Ca(OH)_2$ and $CO_2$ additions on the corrosion of metal coupons(ductile iron, galvanized steel, copper and stainless steel). Corrosion rate and released metal ion concentration of ductile iron and galvanized steel decreased by adjusting alkalinity, calcium hardness and pH with $Ca(OH)_2$ & $CO_2$ additions on copper and stainless steel were less than those on ductile iron and galvanized steel. When ductile iron coupon was exposed to water treated with Ca(OH)$_2$&$CO_2$, additions, the main components of corrosion product formed on its surface were $CaCO_3$ and $Fe_2 O_3 or Fe_2 O_4$ which often reduce the corrosion rate by prohibiting oxygen transport to the metal surface.

  • Amorphous alloys of Co-rich magnetic amorphous films are well known as thpical soft magnetic alloys. They are used for many kinds of electric and electronic parts such as magnetic recording heads, transformers and inductors. CoFeHfO thin films were prepared by RF magnetron reactive sputtering. The films were deposited onto Si(100) substrates with a power of 300 W at room temperature. The reactive gas was introduced up to 10% ($O_2$/(Ar + $O_2$)) during deposition, and the $Co_{39}Fe_{34}Hf_{9.5}O_{17.5}$ thin film exhibit excellent soft magnetic properties : saturation magnetization ($4{\pi}M_s$) of 19kG, magnetic coercivity ($H_c$) of 0.37 Oe, anisotropy field ($H_k$) of 48.62 Oe, and an electrical property is also shown to be as high as 300 ${\mu}{\Omega}cm$. It is assumed that the good soft magnetic properties of $Co_{39}Fe_{34}Hf_{9.5}O_{17.5}$ thin film results from high electrical resistivity and large anisotropy field.

  • To improve the coercivity of ${\gamma}-Fe_{2}O_{3}$ particles. We have made cobalt ferrite epitaxial ${\gamma}-Fe_{2}O_{3}$ particles by crystallizing cobalt ferrite on the surface of ${\gamma}-Fe_{2}O_{3}$ particles. The coercivity of $Co_{x}Fe_{3-x}O_{4}$ which is conform to coating layer showed the most superior characteristic when the value of x was 1. On the formation of cobalt epitaxial ${\gamma}-Fe_{2}O_{3}$ particles, controlling reaction atmosphere as oxidation at. mosphere after non-oxidation atmosphere was the optimum condition to prepare cobalt epitaxial ${\gamma}-Fe_{2}O_{3}$ particles with superior magnetic properties. Epitaxial growth of cobalt ferrite on the surface of ${\gamma}-Fe_{2}O_{3}$ particles was accomplished at $90^{\circ}C$ for 30 minutes.

Effects of $Fe_{3}O_{4}$ Addition on Spinel Phase $LiMn_{2}O_{4}$ for $CO_{2}$ Decomposition (($CO_{2}$ 분해용 스피넬상 $LiMn_{2}O_{4}$에 대한 $Fe_{3}O_{4}$ 첨가효과)

  • The spinel $LiMn_{2}O_{4}$ powders were synthesized at $480^{\circ}C$ for 12 h in air by a sol-gel method using manganese acetate and lithium hydroxide as starting material and the $Fe_{3}O_{4}$ powders were synthesized by the precipitation method using $0.2M-FeSO_{4}{\cdot}H_{2}O$ and 0.5M-NaOH. The synthesized $Fe_{3}O_{4}$ powders were mixed at portion of 5, 10, 15 and 20 wt% about $LiMn_{2}O_{4}$ powders through ball-milling followed by drying at room temperature for 48 h in air. The mixed catalysts were reduced at $350^{\circ}C$ for 3 h by hydrogen and the decomposition rate of carbon dioxide was measured at $350^{\circ}C$ using the reduced catalysts. As the results of $CO_{2}$ decomposition experiments, the decomposition rates of carbon dioxide were 85% in all catalysts but the initial decomposition rates of $CO_{2}$ were slightly high in the case of the $5%-Fe_{3}O_{4}$ added catalyst.

  • The pseudo-spinel type solid solution, $LiAl_{2.5}/Fe_{2.5}O_8$ was prepared by reaction of $LiCO_3, Al_2O_3, Fe_2O_3$ mixture at 1620K, which can be used for cathode material in lithium batteries. Its structure was investigated by Rietveld profile-analysis of XRD in detail. The space group of solid solution is $P4_3$32(a=8.1293$\AA$) and the final residual index of structure refinement was about 5%. Cations $Al^{3+}, Fe^{3+}$ are located at both tetra- and octahedral-coordination and $Li^+$ ions are occupied in the octahedral 4b-, 12d-site of the inverse spinel.

  • The properties of black ceramic pigments including thermal and glaze stability were systematically investigated so that these pigments could be used to decorate porcelain products. Various compositions of $(Ni,Mn)(Fe,Cr,Mn)_2O_4$ and $Co(Fe,Cr)_2O_4$ powders were synthesised using a solid state reaction method. The obtained $Co(Fe,Cr)_2O_4$ and $(Ni,Mn)(Fe,Cr,Mn)_2O_4$ powders showed single phases of spinel structure after calcination processes at $1000^{\circ}C$ and $1200^{\circ}C$, respectively. CIE $L^*a^*b^*$ colourimetric parameters of glazed $Co(Fe,Cr)_2O_4$ and $(Ni,Mn)(Fe,Cr,Mn)_2O_4$ pigments were analyzed according to the different amounts of Cr substitution. In addition, the amount of $Cr^{+6}$ remaining in the $Co(Fe,Cr)_2O_4$ and $(Ni,Mn)(Fe,Cr,Mn)_2O_4$ pigments was also measured.

Electrochemical Properties and Thermal Stability of LiNi0.8Co0.15 Al0.05O2-LiFePO4 Mixed Cathode Materials for Lithium Secondary Batteries

  • We prepared various $LiNi_{0.8}Co_{0.15}Al_{0.05}O_2-LiFePO_4$ mixed-cathode electrodes by changing the content of $LiNi_{0.8}Co_{0.15}Al_{0.05}O_2$ and $LiFePO_4$ used, and we analyzed the electrochemical characteristics of the cathodes. We found that the reversible specific capacity of the cathodes increased and that the capacity retention ratios of the cathodes decreased during cycling as the content of $LiNi_{0.8}Co_{0.15}Al_{0.05}O_2$ increased. Conversely, we found that although the reversible specific capacity of the cathodes decreased because of the material composition, the cycle property of the cathodes increased when the $LiFePO_4$ content increased. We analyzed the thermal stability of the $LiNi_{0.8}Co_{0.15}Al_{0.05}O_2-LiFePO_4$ mixed-material cathodes by differential scanning calorimetry and found that it increased as the $LiFePO_4$ content increased.

Kinetics of $CO_2$ decomposition over CuO-Magnetite and ZnO-Magnetite catalysts (CuO-Magnetite 및 ZnO-Magnetite 촉매상에서 $CO_2$ 분해반응속도론)

  • $Cu_xFe_{3-x}O_4$ catalyst and $Zn_xFe_{3-x}O_4$ catalyst were synthesized by the air oxidation method with various C(II) and Zn(II) weights. Activated catalysts decomposed carbon dioxide to carbon at $350^{\circ}C$, $380^{\circ}C$, $410^{\circ}C$ and $440^{\circ}C$. The value of carbon dioxide decomposition rate for $Cu_{0.003}Fe_{2.997}O_4$ and $Zn_{0.003}Fe_{2.997}O_4$ catslysts than was better catalysts. The decomposed rate of the catalysts is about 85%${\sim}$90%. The reaction rate constant(4.00 $psi^{1-{\alpha}}/min$) and activation energy(2.62 kcal/mole) of $Cu_{0.003}Fe_{2.997}O_4$ catalyst are better than $Zn_{0.003}Fe_{2.997}O_4$

  • 전력선 통신용 LC 공진필터에 사용되는 Ni-Zn 페라이트를 제조하기 위해 $Ni_{0.8}Zn_{0.2}Fe_{2}O_{4}$를 기본조성으로 첨가제 $Bi_{2}O_{3}$, CaO와 x (co mol 비)를 변화시켜 전자기적 특성을 조사하였다. $Bi_{2}O_{3}$ CaO가 첨가됨으로써 균일한 입자성장과 입계에 고저항층이 형성되어 주파수 손실이 감소하였으며, $Ni_{0.8-x}Zn_{0.2}Co_{x}Fe_{2}O_{\delta}$의 기본조성에 Co의 함량을 증가시키면 x = 0.05에서 투자율 75, 공진주파수 20MHz의 특성을 나타내고 결정 입자 크기와 같은 구조적 특성에는 영향을 거의 미치지 않지만 전자기적 특성에는 영향을 미친다. 또한, $Ni_{0.75}Zn_{0.2}Co_{0.05}Fe_{2}O_{4.017}$ 조성의 페라이트 코어의 발열량은 큐리온도 이하에서 일어난다.

  • To develop array magnetic sensors, specular-type giant magnetoresistive- spin valve (GMR-SV) film of Glass/Ta(5)MiFe(7)/IrMn(10)NiFe(5)/$O_2$/CoFe(5)/Cu(2.6)/CoFe(5)/$O_2$/NiFe(7)/Ta(5)(nm) was deposited by using a high-vacuum sputtering system. One of 15 way sensors in the area of $8{\times}8mm^2$ was Patterned a size of $20{\times}80{\mu}m^2$ in multilayer sample by Photo-lithography. All of 15 sensors with Cu electrodes were measured a uniform magnetic properties by 2-probe method. The highest magnetic sensitivity of MR and output voltage measured nearby an external magnetic field of 5 Oe were MS = 0.5%/Oe and ${\triangle}$V= 3.0 mV, respectively. An easy-axis of top-free layers of $CoFe/O_2/NiFe$ with shape anisotropy was perpendicular to one of bottom-pinned layers $IrMn/NiFe/O_2/CoFe$. When the sensing current increased from 1 mA to 10 mA, the output working voltage uniformly increased and the magnetic sensitivity was almost stable to use the nano-magnetic devices with good sensitive properties.
