나노입자기반 CO2 폼을 이용한 CO2 지중저장에 대한 기술적 고찰 (Review of the CO2 Geological Storage Using Nanoparticle-stabilized CO2 Foam)

  • 이산화탄소(CO2)를 대염수층에 폼 상태로 주입할 경우 그대로 주입했을 때보다 CO2의 상대투과도가 감소하고 점성도가 증가하여 유동도가 감소한다. 이로 인해 대염수층과의 CO2와의 접촉효율이 증가하면서 궁극적으로 CO2 저장효율이 향상된다. 일반적으로 CO2 폼 형성을 위해서 계면활성제를 사용하였는데, 최근에는 계면활성제만을 사용했을 때보다 안정적인 폼 형성을 위해서 나노입자를 이용한 연구가 많이 수행되고 있다. 이 논문에서는 나노입자 기반 CO2 폼을 이용한 CO2 저장기술에 대해서 소개하였다. 친수성 나노입자의 일부표면을 CO2 친화적인 부분으로 개질하면 입자는 CO2와 물에 양친성을 나타내므로 고온, 고염도 조건의 심부 대염수층에서도 폼은 상대적으로 안정적인 상태를 유지할 수 있다. 경제적인 측면에서 나노기반 CO2 폼 주입공법은 일반적인 CO2 주입보다 비용이 증가하지만 주입 효율성이 향상되므로 가격 경쟁력이 있을 것으로 추정된다. 환경적 측면에서 살펴보자면 세계적으로 오염물질 제거, 석유생산 등 특수한 목적을 위해 대수층이나 저류층에 계면활성제나 나노물질 등의 화학물질 주입이 가능한 상황이다. 그러나 일부 연구에 의하면 나노입자나 계면활성제에는 수생동물에 영향을 줄 수 있는 독성이 있는 것으로 알려져 있기에 환경적 검증된 물질을 사용해야 할 것이다. 따라서 향후에도 추가적인 연구개발을 통해 환경적으로도 안전하면서도 경제적으로도 합리적인 나노기반 CO2 폼 제조 및 주입에 대한 연구가 필요할 것이다.

Slag-Quartz-$Na_2$$CO_3$계의 Foam형성에 관한 연구 (A Study on Foam Formation of Slag-Quartz-$Na_2$$CO_3$ System)

  • Foam formation of Slag-Quartz-$\textrm{Na}_2\textrm{CO}_3$ system was investigated. The foaming agent used was sulphide and sulphate compounds which are present in the slag. The microstructures and x-ray analysis of foam slag, the effect of composition and particle size of slag on the formation temperature, and foam size and distribution of slag foam were studied. The Increment of $\textrm{Na}_2\textrm{O}$ in the slag batch composition decrease the initial foam formation temperature and enhance the foam growth. The formation of temperature and soaking time had pronounced effect on the foam growth and increasing the glass phase in the slag foam.

  • Solar reforming of methane with $CO_2$ was successfully tested with a direct irradiated absorber on a parabolic dish capable of $5kW_{th}$ solar power. The new type of catalytically activated metallic foam absorber was prepared, and its activity was tested. Ni was applied as the active metal on the gamma - alumina coated Ni metal foam for the preparation of the catalytically-activated metal foam layer. Compared to conventional direct irradiation of the catalytically-activated ceramic foam absorber, this new metallic foam absorber is found to exhibit a superior reaction performance at the relatively low insolation or at low temperatures. In addition, unlike direct irradiation of the catalytically-activated ceramic foam absorber, metallic foam absorber has better thermal resistance, which prevents the emergence of cracks caused by mechanical or thermal shock. The total solar power absorbed reached up to 2.1kW and the maximum $CH_4$ conversion was almost 40%.

단열재의 무게변화와 열전도도와의 상관관계에 관한 실험적 연구 (Experimental Study of the Relationship between Weight Variation and Thermal Conductivity in Polyurethane Foam)

  • Cellular foamed insulation such as polyurethane foam ages and degrades the thermal conductivity. Aging of foam is a result from the diffusion of gases, initially consisting of $CO_2$ but eventually replaced by air from the environment. The variation of the cell gas content with time is primarily influenced by the increase of thermal conductivity of the cellular foam. The weight of foam also changes as the gas diffuses and exchanges. In this study, a weight measurement method has been proposed to evaluate the effective diffusion coefficients of $CO_2$ and Air, $D_{CO2}=7.08504E-11$ and $D_{air}=4.86086E-12$, respectively and are compared with the gas analysis method.

니켈합금 Metal Foam을 적용한 예혼합 버너의 연소특성 (Combustion Characteristics of Premixed Combustor using Nickel Based Metal Foam)

  • A premixed combustion has many advantages including low NOx and CO emission, high thermal efficiency and a small volume of combustor. This study focused on combustion characteristics in a premixed combustion burner using the nickel based metal foam. The results show that the blue flame is found to be very stable at heating load 6,300-25,200 kcal/h by implementing the proper nickel based metal foam and baffle plate. The premixed flame mode is changed into green flame, red flame, blue flame and lift off flame with decreasing equivalence ratio. NOx emission was measured 80 ppm(0% oxygen base) from 0.710 to 0.810 of equivalence ratio and CO emission is 90 ppm(0% oxygen base) under the same equivalence ratio. It is also found that the stable blue flame region in flame stability curve becomes wider with increasing the heat load.

  • Fischer-Tropsch synthesis (FTS) was carried out in heat-exchanger typed reactor with cobalt metallic foam catalyst. Considering the heat and mass transfer limitations in the cobalt catalyst, a Co-foam catalyst with an inner metallic foam frame and an outer cobalt catalyst was developed. The Co-foam catalyst was highly selective toward liquid hydrocarbon production and the liquid hydrocarbon productivity at $203^{\circ}C$ reached to $52.5ml/(kg_{cat}{\cdot}h)$, which was higher than that obtained by the Co-pellet. Furthermore, the heat-exchanger typed reactor was developed to efficiently control the highly exothermic reaction heat. The reaction heat generated in the FTS reaction on the cobalt active site was easily transferred to reactor wall by the metallic foam in the catalyst and the transferred reaction heat was directly removed by the hot oil which circulated the wall side of the heat-exchanger typed reactor.

난연제 종류에 따른 경질 폴리우레탄 폼의 난연 특성 (Effect of Flame Retardants on Flame Retardancy of Rigid Polyurethane Foam)

  • 본 연구에서는 인계 난연제가 첨가된 경질 폴리우레탄 폼을 합성하여 난연제의 종류에 따른 난연성능 변화를 고찰하였다. 난연제로는 Tetramethylene bis(orthophosphorylurea) [TBPU]와 Tris(2-chloroethyl)phosphate[TCEP], Tris(2-chloropropyl)phosphate[TCPP], Triethyl phosphate[TEP]등을 사용하였다. 콘칼로리미터를 이용하여 열방출량, 질량감소율, 연기발생량, CO 및 $CO_2$ 발생량 등을 측정하였다. 콘칼로리미터 시험 결과 TBPU가 첨가될 경우 평균 발열량, 최대 발열량, 유효연소열, 질량 감소율, CO 및 $CO_2$ 발생량이 감소하였고 다른 난연제에 비하여 낮은 값을 나타내어 우수한 난연성능을 나타냄을 알 수 있었다.

페놀 폼과 폴리우레탄 폼의 난연 및 내열성 연구 (Study on Flame Retardancy and Thermal Resistance Properties of Phenolic Foam and Polyurethane Foam)

  • 본 연구에서는 페놀 폼의 난연성을 증가시키기 위하여 널리 사용되고 있는 인계 난연제의 첨가에 따른 페놀 폼과 폴리우레탄 폼의 난연 성능을 비교 평가하였다. 난연제가 첨가된 페놀 폼과 폴리우레탄 폼을 각각 열분석(TGA)을 통하여 열분해 거동을 알아보았고 Cone calorimeter를 이용하여 열방출량(HRR), 연기발생량(TSR) 및 CO 및 $CO_2$ 발생량과 산소한계지수(Limited oxygen index, LOI)를 통하여 난연성능을 평가하였다. 실험 결과 페놀폼이 폴리우레탄 폼에 비해 초기 분해는 빠르지만 $800^{\circ}C$에서 잔존량이 월등히 많았으며 낮은 열방출속도 값을 나타내었다. 또한 질량 감소율, 연기발생량도 폴리우레탄 폼보다 낮아 우수한 난연성능을 가지는 것을 알 수 있다.

선박화재 적용 단백포 소화약제의 안정제에 따른 소화특성 (Characteristics of Protein Foam Agent by Stabilizer on the Ship Fire Extinguishment)

  • Onboard fire extinguishing system is important to protect cargo and human lives and every oil tanker has foam type fire extinguishing system. Because of environmental problem, agent which contains materials such as Perfluorinated compounds are regulated and the development of the environmental friendly agent is required. The protein foam has less environmental pollution problem and has an excellent fire extinguish performance to oil fire. In the research, bivalency metal salts were added as stabilizer to increase fire resistance and stability of the foam. Ferrous sulfate, Iron chloride and Nickel chloride were used and to adjust to vessel, sea water was applied. As a stabilizer increased, the expansion ratio was raised. However 25% drainage time was decreased over 2.0 wt.% which is knowable that the foam brokes easily. The amount of generated foam was measured to check fluidity of foam and it appeared that when $FeSO_4$ 1.2 wt.% was added, the amount of generated foam reached large and also the 25% drainage time was high. To evaluate the fire extinguishing performance for oil fire, the small scale oil fire test was executed. When $FeSO_4$ 1.2 wt.% was added, fire extinguishing time was in its shortest which informs fluidity of foam and stability are important factors on fire extinguishing efficiency.

선체 저항에 대한 수치 해석의 통계적 신뢰도 분석 (Statistical Reliability Analysis of Numerical Simulation for Prediction of Model-Ship Resistance)

  • A wide scope of numerical simulations was performed to predict model-ship resistances by using STAR-CCM+ and OpenFOAM. The numerical results were compared with experimental measurements in towing tank to analyze statistical reliability of the present simulations. Based on the normal distribution of resistance errors in 113 cases of container carriers, tankers and very large crude-oil carriers, the confidence intervals of numerical error were estimated as [-2.64%,+2.32%] and [-1.82%, +1.87%] with 95% confidence in STAR-CCM+ and OpenFOAM, respectively. The resistance errors of liquefied natural gas carriers with single- and twin-skeg were confident in the ranges of [-2.51%,+2.64%] and [-2.29%, +1.46%], respectively. The grid uncertainty of resistance coefficients for KCS was also quantitatively analyzed by using a grid verification procedure. The grid uncertainty of OpenFOAM (5.1%) was larger than 4.4% uncertainty of STAR-CCM+ although OpenFOAM provided statistically more confident results than those of STAR-CCM+. It means that a grid system verified under a specific condition does not automatically lead to statistical reliability in general cases.
