Bacillus sp. A56 was studied, because of its high flocculating activity. The flocculating substance produced by this strain was purified by ethanol precipitation, cetylpyridinium chloride (CPC) precipitation, and gel permeation chromatography (GPC). The FT-IR spectrum of the purified bioflocculant, designated as BF-56, showed typical characteristics of polysaccharides. The non-sugar substituents, and sugar components of BF-56 containing glucose, fucose, glucuronic acid, and galactose in an approximate molar ratio of 2.76:1.10:1:0.12, suggested that it was a novel bioflocculant with an estimated molecular mass of over $7{\times}10^3$ kDa. Rheological analysis of BF-56 revealed that it was a pseudoplastic that had higher apparent viscosity rate at dilute concentrations than those of zooglan. The solution of bioflocculant BF-56 exhibited non-Newtonian characteristics and it was compatible to high concentrations of salts such as KCl, NaCl, $CaCl_2,\;or\;FeCl_3.$ The present results suggested strong possibility of bioflocculant BF-56 to be fully applicable to industries such as wastewater treatment.

In this paper, the dependence of silicide properties such as sheet resistance and cross-sectional profile on the dopants for source/drain and gate has been characterized. There was little difference of sheet resistance among the dopants such as As, P, BF$_2$ and B$_{11}$ just a(ter formation of NiSi using RTP (Rapid Thermal Process). However, the silicide properties showed strong dependence on the dopants when thermal treatment was applied after silicidation. BF$_2$ implanted silicon showed the most stable property, while As implanted one showed the worst. The main reason of the excellent property of BF$_2$ sample is believed to be tile retardation of hi diffusion by the flourine. Therefore, retardation of Ni diffusion is highly desirable for high performance Ni-silicide technology.y.

TaSi$_2$ was formed by rapid thermal annealing(RTA) on BF$_2$ doped single crystalline silicon substrates. The formation and various properties of TaSi$_2$ have been investigated by using 4-point probe, HP414, XRD, and SEM. And the redistribution of boron with RTA has been observed by SIMS. Implanted boron was diffused out into the TaSi$_2$ for RTA temperature but did not significantly affect the formation temperature of TaSi$_2$. Also, the contact resistance for TaSi$_2$/p$^{+}$ region had a low value 22$\Omega$, at contact size of 0.9$\mu$m, and the native oxide formed on Si-substrates by BF$_2$ implantation retarded the formation of TaSi$_2$.
To evaluate the antitumor activity and antimetastatic effects of Bruceae FructusCBF), studies were done experimentally. The results were obtained as follows : 1. In cytotoxicity against A549, SK-MEL-2, MCF-7 and XF498 cell concentration inhibiting cell growth up to below 50% of control was recognized at $25{\mu}g/m{\ell}$ of BF. Also BF inhibited cell growth up to below 50% of control against HCT15 cell at $12.5{\mu}g/m{\ell}$, so it showed stronger cytotoxicity against HCT15 cell than another cancer cell. 2. In Inhibitory effect on activity of DNA topoisomerase- I, the $IC_{50}$ was shown $10-50{\mu}g/m{\ell}$ of BF. 3. The T/C% was 143.4 in BF treated group in S-180 bearing ICR mice. 4. The concentration inhibiting adhesion of A549 and SK-OV-3 to complex extracellular matrix up to below 30% of control was recognized at $1{\mu}g/m{\ell}$ of BF. 5. In pumonary colonization assay, a number of colonies in the lungs were decreased significantly in BF treated group as compared with control group. These results suggested that BF extracts might be usefully applied for prevention and treatment of cancer.
Objectives : This experimental study was performed to investigate antibiosis of decoctions made by Cassiae Semen(CaS), Celosiae Semen(CeS) and Buddlejae Flos(BF). Methods : Decoctions made by CaS. CeS and BF were prepared. After administering decoctions made by CaS. CeS and BF on bacterial species(Staphylococcus aureus, Staphylococcus epidermidis, Pseudomonas aeruginosa, Aspergillus niger, Fusarium oxysporum, Condida albicans) which cause Keratitis, the size of inhibition zone and MIC(Minimum Inhibition Concentration) were measured Results : The inhibition zone on bacterial species didn't appear, after administering decoctions made by CaS, CeS and BF. Conclusions : This experimental study is showed that decoctions made by CaS, CeS and BF don't have antibiosis on bacterial species which cause Keratitis.
Appropriate soil temperature and early planting of potato is very important for the successful potato-soybean cropping system in central region of South Korea. This experiment was carried out to determine the effect of mulching materials on the growth and yield of potato (Solanum tuberosum L.). Five different mulch treatments were had been applied on an upland soil as follows ; no mulch (NM), transparent film (TF), transparent film + additional transparent film (TF + ATF), black film (BF), and black film + additional transparent film (ATF). In the period of sowing time to removing additional films, mean soil temperature of the treatments was in the order of TF+ATF > TF > BR+ATF > BF as $20.3^{\circ}C$ > $18.5^{\circ}C$ > $16.1^{\circ}C$ > $15.4^{\circ}C$, respectively and that of NM was $13.8^{\circ}C$. The accumulated soil temperature was TF > NM > BF during the removing additional films to earthing at inter-tillage. On the changes in the soil temperature during a whole day, the temperature in the BF was lower than NM during around 18:00 PM to 12:00 NM, while NM was higher than BF in the time period of 10:00AM to 21:00PM. The sequence of potato sprout emergence was 15 > 18 > 20 > 22 days of TF+ATF, TF, BF+ATF, and BF, respectively and that of NM was 24 days. Comparing to the NM, potato sprout emergence was observed on the TF+ATF treated plot as early as 9 days. At 10 days before harvest, the significant difference in the tuber dry weight had been observed and the sequence tuber weight was in the order of TF > TF+ATF > BF+ATF > BF > NM. The potato yields of TF, TF+ATF, and BF+ATF were increased of 40.7, 37.3, and 22% as compared to NM ($2,805kg\;10a^{-1}$), but almost same yield in the BF. The differences of tuber dry weight and potato yields was co-related with the temperature rise of soil by the application of mulching materials on soil. Based on these results, application of mulching film had been very effective to increase the tuber size and the yield of potato by the temperature rise during seedling stage of potato. Transparent mulching was better than black mulching especially for the emergence of sprout of potato in relation to minimizing cooling injury.
This study examined the difference in growth rate between Korean breast-fed(BF) and formula-fed(FF) infants(n=31) at 1, 2 and 3 months postpartum. The results indicated that the growth rate was comparable between groups, but that of the BF infants tended to be slow during the first three months. The intakes of energy, protein and lipid except lactose of the FF infants were greater than those of the BF infants, however the difference in growth rate did not correlate to these variables. But these results suggest that the availability of nutrients might be different between the BF infants and the FF infants.

The dihydrido iridium(Ⅲ) complex [$Ir(PPh_3)_2H_2(ac)_2$]$BF_4$ (ac=acetone) reacts with 2-phenylpyridine and 7,8-benzoquinoline to yield the C-H activated complexes [$Ir(PPh_3)_2$H(ac)(L)]$BF_4$ (L= phenylpyridine; 7,8-benzoquioline). The dihydrido iridium(Ⅲ) complex [$Ir(PPh_3)_2H_2(ac)_2$]$BF_4$ also reacts with triaklysilane via an oxidative addition reaction to yield the trihydrido iridium complexes [$Ir(PPh_3)_2H_3SiR_3$]$BF_4$ (R =Et and Ph). The structual configuration was studied by conventional spectroscopy.
This study was conducted to investigate the effects of concentrated pig slurry and byproduct liquid fertilizer on the growth and yield of chinese cabbage. The experiment was conducted in a rain-shelter house which was installed in the agriculture farm. Plants were fertilized with concentrated slurry (CS), byproduct fertilizer (BF), mixture of concentrated slurry and byproduct liquid fertilizer (CS+BF), combined organic and chemical fertilizer (CS+BF+BF) and chemical fertilizer (CF) as control. 1. The pH level of byproduct liquid was decreased from the 3rd to the 7th day and increased 9 day to 14th day, but pH of concentrated slurry (CS) was not greatly varied. EC of concentrated slurry (CS) and byproduct liquid was increased gradually during the fermentation. 2. The concentrated slurry (CS) was low in phosphorus, calcium, magnesium, rich in potassium and unbalanced as a low nitrogen and high potassium. But byproduct liquid fertilizer was balanced in nitrogen and potassium ratio. 3. The leaf number, head height, head width of chinese cabbage in treatment with organic and chemical fertilizer (CS+BF+N) showed significant difference compared with control. The plant and head weight of chinese cabbage in treatment of concentrated slurry was severely decreased, but that in treatment organic and chemical fertilizer (CS+BF+N) were increased 8, 10% compared with control chemical fertilizer (CF), respectively. 4. The content of $K_2O$ in plant tissue and in soil was increased after using concentrated slurry. On the other hand, mineral content of except $K_2O$ did not differ significantly between any of the treatments. In conclusion, organic and chemical fertilizer (CS+BF+N) could improve growth and head weight of chinese cabbage.
