저수축 반응소결 알루미나 세라믹스의 제조 (Fabrication of Low-Shrinkage Reaction-Bonded Alumina Ceramics)

  • Fabrication possibility of low-shrinkage alumina without oxidation and wetting agent was presented on the basis of observation about oxidation behavior, microstructure and physical characteristics of such reaction agents free Al2O3-Al system. The composition less than Al 10w/o where Al can act as a sintering agent for Al2O3 was excluded. Under the condition of present experiments oxidation of Al2O3-Al system was dependent not on holding time but mainly on oxidation temperature. In thes case of Al powder not comminuted effectively during powder mixing of Al2O3-Al, columnar structure which would act as a hindrance to the densification during sintering developed more during oxidation with higher Al contents, and which made the fabrication of low-shrinkage Al2O3 ceramics impossible. If Al powder was comminuted effectively due to co-mixed Al2O3 characteristics, densification was improved because of no columnar structure and made the fabrication of sintered body with -2.7% dimensional change and 81% relative density possible. As a result, it is possible to fabricate dense low-shrinkage Al2O3 ceramics without oxidation and wetting agent under conditions such as smaller particle size of Al, Al contents below 50v/o, higher green density of Al2O3-Al compact and the use of Al2O3 powder used for high-density ceramics.

  • CaO-TiO2 이성분계에서 40~50 mol% CaO 조성범위를 선택하여 CaTiO3과 CaTiO3-TiO2세라믹스의 마이크로파 유전특성을 조사하였다. CaTiO3 단일상 (50 mol% CaO조성)일 때 유전율(er) 178, 공진주파수 (fo)의 온도계수(r,)+1000ppm/C, 픔질계수인 Q값 2760(fo=2.7 GHz)으로 가장 큰 값을 나타내었다. CaTiO3와 TiO2상이 혼합상으로 있는 유전체에서는 CaO 함량이 감소함에 따라서 유전율과 공진주파수의 온도계수는 점차 감소하였으나 Q값과 밀도는 47 mol% CaO조성에서 가장 낮았다. 이것은 이상 혼합 세라믹에서 TiO2상의 감소로 인해 CaTiO3의 결정립 성장이 급속하게 일어남으로써 입계와 입내에 큰 기공이 존재하지 때문으로 생각된다.

$ZrO_2$를 이차상으로한 복합체의 기계적 특성 (A Study on the Mechanical Properties of $ZrO_2$ Based Composite)

  • Mechanical property enhancing mechanisms of $Al_2O_3-ZrO_2$ two phase ceramic composites were studied for several compositions of different $ZrO_2$/$Al_2O_3$ ratio. Microstructural analysis of $Al_2O_3-ZrO_3$(pure) composites indicated that pre-existing microcrack due to larger $ZrO_2$ particle at grain boundary extended along alumina grain boundaries within process zone. Microcracks also nucleated when very small $ZrO_2$ particles at the grain boundaries transformed to monoclinic phase at near of main crack tip. These types of microcracks could contribute to the toughening achieved by creating additional crack surface area during crack propagation. Microstructural analyses also showed that the average grain size and abnormal grain size of $Al_2O_3$ were decreased with increasing $ZrO_2$ vol% in $Al_2O_3$ matrix. As a result it could be concluded as follows In TEX>$Al_2O_3-ZrO_3$(pure) system 1. Microcrack nucleation (stress-induced microcracking) and extension was effective mechanism for absorpiton of fracture energy 2, More narrow distribution and smaller grain size of $Al_2O_3$ due to $ZrO_2$particles mainly contributed to main-tatin the strength and hardness.

Effeet of Al2O3, MgO and SiO2 on Sintering and Hydration Behaviors of CaO Ceramics

  • CaO ceramics were prepared by conventional sintering process and their hydration behaviors were evaluated by measuring weight increment on saturated water vapor pressure at ambient temperature. CaCO$_3$ and limestone were used as CaO source materials and $Al_2$O$_3$, MgO and SiO$_2$ were added as sintering agents. $Al_2$O$_3$ was a liquid phase sintering agent to increase densification and grain growth rates, whereas MgO and SiO$_2$, densification and grain growth inhibitors. Regardless of composition, all of the prepared CaO ceramics showed the improved hydration resistance as bulk density increased. Especially, when bulk density was more than 3.0 g/㎤, there was no weight increment after 120 h of hydration. Therefore, to decrease contact area between CaO and water vapor by increasing bulk density with the $Al_2$O$_3$ sintering additive was effective for the improvement of CaO hydration resistance.

  • Mechanical properties of the system PbO-B2O3-V2O5 low melting glass during crystallization by heat-treatment were investigated. Wettability of the system PbO-B2O3-V2O5 was excellent and appropriate for commercial sealing as a low melting solder glass. Crystals, during heat-treated at 30$0^{\circ}C$ of the system PbO-B2O3-V2O5 were $\beta$-4PbO.B2O3, 5PbO.4B2O3, and Pb2V2O7 mainly. The percent of crystallinity was 82$\pm$5%. Mechanical properties of the system PbO-B2O3-V2O5 were influenced not only by the differences of density and coefficient of thermal expansion and the stress induced from the difference in the density and coefficient of thermal expansion between glass phase and crystals but also crystallization conditions.

  • 구조의 유기-무기 혼성화합물 Cu2(OH)3(CH3COO)·H2O를 선구물질로 사용하여 Cu2O를 합성하였다. 75oC의 수용액에서 Cu2(OH)3(CH3COO)·H2O를 글루코오스로 환원시켜서 정육면체 Cu2O를 합성하였다. 선구물질과 글루코오스의 효과를 조사하였다. Cu2(OH)3(CH3COO)·H2O의 구조는 균일한 크기의 Cu2O를 만드는데 중요한 역할을 한다.

  • FT-IR and thermography were used to investigate the infrared radiation characteristic of SiO$_2$ film and SiO$_2$/Fe$_2$O$_3$film coated on aluminum. Through FT-TR spectrum, SiO$_2$film showed high infrared absorption in accordance with the stretching vibration of Si-O-Si, and as$ Fe_2$$O_3$was mixed additional absorption band appeared resulting from the stretching vibration of Fe-O at $590cm^{-1}$ and the bond of Si-O-Fe at $900 cm^{-1}$ The two kinds of film measured by the integration method and the reflective method coincided with each other in the wavelength area of infrared absorption and radiation, and corresponded well with Kirchhoff's law as the infrared emissivity is high in wavelength where infrared absorption rate is high. The emissivity of $SiO_2$ film was 0.65 and that of $SiO_2$/Fe$_2$$O_3$film was 0.77, so the addition of$ Fe_2$$O_3$ raised the infrared emissivity by approximately 13%.$ SiO_2$$Fe_2$$O_3$ film is efficient as an infrared radiator at below $100^{\circ}C$. The temperature of heat radiation after 7 minutes was 117$^{\circ}C$ in aluminum plate and $155^{\circ}C$ in $SiO_2$$Fe_2$$O_3$ film, $38^{\circ}C$ higher than the former.

  • Stabilization of the perovskite phase and sequence of reactions occuring during calcination were studied with solid solutions formed between Pb(Zn1/3Nb2/3)O3 and Pb(Fe1/2Nb1/2)O3. In the PZN-PFN composition of equal molar ratio, rhombohedral type pyrochlore phase (Pb2Nb2O7) and PbO-rich distorted cubic type pyrochlore phase (Pb3Nb2O8) were coexisted as intermediate phases at temperatures below 85$0^{\circ}C$, and these phases transformed to a stable cubic type pyrochlore phase, Pb3Nb4O13 solid solution and a perovskite solid solution at temperatures above 85$0^{\circ}C$. The major stable phase as increasing sintering temperatures was a perovskite phase in this binary system and prominent suppression of the pyrochlore phase was achieved by substituting Zn2+ with Fe3+ or by increasing sintering temperature. The composition containing 20mol% PZN possessed the best dielectric properties, and the dissipation factor was lower than 5% in all compositions.

  • The effects of $La_2O_3$on the microstructure and electrical characteristics of Pr-based ZnO varistors were investigated. The average grain size increased in the range of 21.9~56.3$\mu$ m with increasing $La_2O_3$additive content(0.0~2.0 mol%). La was, of course grain boundary, largely segregated at the nodal point. As $La_2O_3$additive content increases, threshold voltage and nonlinear coefficient decreased and leakage current increased. In particular, 2.0 mol% $La_2O_3$-added varistor exhibited low threshold voltage 17.0V/mm and nonlinear coefficient of about 6. Based on these results, this varistor can be said to be used as low-voltage varistor, if nonlinear coefficient is somewhat improved forward.

적외선 반사체용 결정화유리 제조 및 광학적 특성평가 (Fabrication and Optical Characterization of Glass-ceramics for IR Reflector)

  • 본 연구에서는 적외선 반사체 제조를 위하여 MAS(MgO-Al$_2$O$_3$-SiO$_2$)계 유리로부터 핵행성 및 결정성장의 2단계 열처리에 의해 cordierite(2MgO.2Al$_2$O$_3$5SiO$_2$)와 rutile(TiO$_2$)을 주결정상으로 하는 결정화유리를 제조하였다. MgO-Al$_2$O$_3$-SiO$_2$3성분계 조성에 조핵제로 TiO$_2$를 첨가하여 용융법으로 유리를 제조한 후 결정화 열처리를 하여 핵생성 및 결정화 거동과 결정화유리의 결정상, 입자 크기와 확산 반사율과의 관계를 관찰하였다. 그 결과 75$0^{\circ}C$에서 3시간동안 핵생성 시킨 후 110$0^{\circ}C$/5hr 이상의 열처리 조건에서 cordierite와 rutile이 주결정상으로 석출되었으며 570~2500nm 범위에서 90% 이상의 반사율을 갖는 결정화유리를 제조하였다.
