The dispersion and attenuation of Lamb and Leaky Lamb waves propagating in a 1 mm-thick steel plate were investigated. For acquiring a long(or large) range inspection capability, the fundamental symmetric and anti-symmetric wave modes(S0 and A0) over law frequencies were studied. Based on the dispersion curves, as well as pitch-catch and multi-mode simulations, it was shown that the S0 mode over law frequencies is the proper mode to minimize the dispersion and attenuation. In addition, it was shown that the S0 mode couldbe easily distinguished under multi-mode simulation since it has a larger group velocity than the A0 mode.
Methods for mode identification and accurate measurements of the unloaded Q ($Q_0$) of a dielectric-loaded $TE_{01{\delta}}$ mode cavity resonator with HTS endplates are proposed. A resonator with a sapphire rod and $YBa_2Cu_3O_{7-x}$(YBCO) endplates was prepared and its microwave properties were studied at temperatures above 30 K. The $TE_{01{\delta}}$ mode $Q_0$ of the resonator, designed to work as a tunable resonator with variations in the gap distance (s) between the sapphire rod and the top YBCO, was more than 1000000 at s = 0 mm and at 30 K with the resonant frequency of 19.56 GHz. The $TE_{01{\delta}}$ mode $Q_0$ decreases as s increases for s < 2 mm until mode couplings between the $TE_{01{\delta}}$ mode and other modes appeared at s = 2 mm. Significant dependence of the $TE_{01{\delta}}$ mode $Q_0$ on the input and output coupling constants was also observed. Applications of the open-ended $TE_{01{\delta}}$ mode cavity resonator for a tunable resonator with a very high Q as well as a characterization tool for the surface resistance measurements of HTS films are described.
We proposed a novel mode shape converter (MSC) that can effectively reduce the coupling loss between polymer rib waveguide and single mode fiber. The double-nb geometry that was used in the novel MSC converted an elliptical mode to circular mode and an circular mode to elliptical mode. This structure can be easily realized by using the typical fabrication process for polymer wavegUide. Simulation using a three dimensional beam propagation method showed that the novel MSC has a coupling loss of 0.079 dB/facet and total lllsertioll loss of less than 0.2 dB. .2 dB.
Purpose: To determine the conversion coefficients (CCs) from the dose-area product (DAP) value to effective dose in cone-beam CT. Materials and Methods: A CBCT scanner with four fields of view (FOV) was used. Using two exposure settings of the adult standard and low dose exposure, DAP values were measured with a DAP meter in C mode ($200mm{\times}179mm$), P mode ($154mm{\times}154mm$), I mode ($102mm{\times}102mm$), and D mode ($51mm{\times}51mm$). The effective doses were also investigated at each mode using an adult male head and neck phantom and thermoluminescent chips. Linear regressive analysis of the DAP and effective dose values was used to calculate the CCs for each CBCT examination. Results: For the C mode, the P mode at the maxilla, and the P mode at the mandible, the CCs were 0.049 ${\mu}Sv/mGycm^2$, 0.067 ${\mu}Sv/mGycm^2$, and 0.064 ${\mu}Sv/mGycm^2$, respectively. For the I mode, the CCs at the maxilla and mandible were 0.076 ${\mu}Sv/mGycm^2$ and 0.095 ${\mu}Sv/mGycm^2$, respectively. For the D mode at the maxillary incisors, molars, and mandibular molars, the CCs were 0.038 ${\mu}Sv/mGycm^2$, 0.041 ${\mu}Sv/mGycm^2$, and 0.146 ${\mu}Sv/mGycm^2$, respectively. Conclusion: The CCs in one CBCT device with fixed 80 kV ranged from 0.038 ${\mu}Sv/mGycm^2$ to 0.146 ${\mu}Sv/mGycm^2$ according to the imaging modes and irradiated region and were highest for the D mode at the mandibular molar.

Purpose : The purpose of this study is to evaluate the accuracy and usefulness of the Trigger mode for the Respiratory Gated Radiation Therapy (RGRT) Materials and methods : A QUASAR respiratory phantom that inserted a 3 mm fiducial marker (a gold marker) was used to estimate the accuracy of the Trigger mode. And the 20 bpm was used as reference respiration rate in this study. The marker that placed at the center of the phantom was contoured, and the lower threshold of a gating window was fixed at 2.0 mm using an OBI with Truebeam STxTM. The upper threshold was measured every 0.5 mm from 1.0 mm to 3.0 mm. The respiration rates were changed every 10 bpm from 10 bpm to 60 bpm. We repeatedly measured five times to check the error rate of the trigger mode in the same condition. Result : The differences of a distance from a peak phase to upper threshold, 1.0 to 3.0 mm at a 20 bpm as a reference for 3 days in a row were 0.68±0.05 mm, 0.91±0.03 mm, 1.23±0.03 mm, 1.42±0.04 mm, and 1.66±0.06 mm, respectively. Measurement result of changes in respiratory rate compared to baseline respiratory rate in maximum absolute difference. The coefficient of determination (R2) to estimate the correlation between the respiration velocity and variation of absolute difference was on average 0.838, 0.887, 0.770, 0.850, and 0.906. The p-values of all the variables were below 0.05. Conclusion : Using Trigger mode during respiratory gated radiation therapy (RGRT), accuracy and usefulness of trigger mode at reference breathing rate were confirmed. However, inaccuracies depending on the rate of breathing it could be uncertain in case of respiration rate is faster than 20 bpm as a standard respiration rate compared to slower than 20 bpm. Consequently, when conducting a RGRT using the trigger mode, real time monitoring is required with well educated respiration.

In this paper, a dual mode baseband analog channel selection filter is described which is designed for the Bluetooth and WCDMA wireless communications. Using the presented current-mode integrator, a dual mode channel selection filter is designed. To verify the current-mode integrator circuit, Hspice simulation using 1.8V Hynix $0.18{\mu}m$ standard CMOS technology was performed and achieved $50.0{\sim}4.3dB$ gain, $2.29{\sim}10.3MHz$ unity gain frequency. The described third-order dual mode analog channel selection filter is composed of the current-mode integrator, and used SFG(Signal Flow Graph) method. The simulated results show 0.51, 2.40MHz cutoff frequency which is suitable for the Bluetooth and WCDMA baseband block each.

This study investigates interlaminar fracture characteristics of Graphite/Epoxy composite (HFG Graphite/Epoxy) under mode I (opening mode), mode II (sliding mode) and mixed mode loading conditions. The effects on interlaminar fracture toughness due to different fiber orientations on the crack surface are also investigated. The antisymmetric test fixture proposed by M. Arcan is used for this test. Both critical stress intensity foctors and critical energy release rates were determined and several mixed mode fracture criteria were compared to the experimental data. Also fracture surfaces were investigaed to obtain informations on the fracture behaviors of Graphite/Epoxy composite by means of a scanning electron microscope(SEM).

Purpose: In this study we evaluated the morphologic aspects of defects created by a piezoelectric ultrasonic scaler with scaler tip on casting gold alloy using scanning electron microscope (SEM) images and defect surface profiles. Methods: 54 blocks of type III casting gold alloy (Firmilay, Jellenko Inc, CA, USA) were scaled by a piezoelectric ultrasonic scaler (P-MAX, Satelec, France) with scaler tip (No. 1 tip) on a sledge device. 2-dimensional profiles of defects on all samples were investigated by a surface profilometer (a-Step 500, KLA-Tencor, CA, USA). The selected working parameters were lateral force (0.5 N, 1.0 N, 2.0 N), mode (P mode, S mode), and power setting (2, 4, 8). SEM images were obtained. Defect surface profiles were made on Microsoft Excel program using data obtained by a surface profilometer. Results: Among P mode samples, there were similarities on defect surface profiles and SEM images regardless of lateral force. The defects created in P mode were narrow and shallow although the depth and the width increased as power setting changed low (2) to high (8). In P mode samples, the defect depth was the greatest when lateral force of 0.5 N was applied. However all the depths were smaller than 1 m. SEM images of Lateral force of 0.5 N, S mode, power setting 2 and 4 were similar to that of P mode, but the other SEM images of S mode showed discernible changes. Defect depth of S mode samples was the greatest when lateral force of 1.0 N was applied. Conclusions: Within the limitations of this study, it can be concoluded that removing capability of piezoelectric scaler with scaler tip becomes maximized as power level becomes higher but the capability is restricted when excessive lateral force is applied on scaler tip.

A rigorous field analysis by the non-decaying mode and the contour graph method is presented for dielectric-rod loaded cylindrical cavity resonators. Resonant frequencies and the lowest order modes for this resonator are calculated. The mode charts are presented to design the resonators. TE mode(transverse electric or H mode, having no Ez), TM mode(transverse magnetic or I mode, having no ㎐) and HEM mode(hybrid electromagnetic mode, having non-zero Ez and ㎐) are analyzed in detail using non-decaying mode method. The mode charts are completed. The validity of the theory is confirmed by experiments. The results were on the whole satisfactory. Experimental measurements show excellent agrement with the numerical results. The average error of TE, TM, and HEM mode is about 0.20 %, 0.14 %, and 0.28 %, respectively.
In this study, the generation of photoneutrons between the 10 MV FF mode and the FFF mode was evaluated and the amount of photoneutrons generated by the 10 MV and 15 MV energy changes in the FFF mode was evaluated. The generated neutrons were evaluated at 13 measurement points and the KTEPC was used to collect the generated neutrons. 10 MV FF mode was measured at 10 MV FF mode and FFF mode at all measurement points. In the superior direction, 0.455mSv and 0.152mSv were the largest, and more than 33% optical neutron was generated in FF. 10 MV in FFF mode, 15 MV in 15 MV, and 0.402 mSv in the direction of Superior, and 6.9% in the direction.
