유비쿼터스 환경에서의 센서 인터페이스를 위한 12비트 1kS/s 65uA 0.35um CMOS 알고리즈믹 A/D 변환기 (A 12b 1kS/s 65uA 0.35um CMOS Algorithmic ADC for Sensor Interface in Ubiquitous Environments)

  • 본 논문에서는 가속도 센서 및 자이로 센서 등과 같이 고해상도 및 작은 면적과 적은 전력 소모를 동시에 요구하는 센서 인터페이스 응용을 위한 12비트 1kS/s 65uA 0.35um CMOS 알고리즈믹 A/D 변환기 (ADC)를 제안한다. 제안하는 ADC는 재순환 기법을 이용한 알고리즈믹 구조를 사용하여 샘플링 속도, 해상도, 전력 소모 및 면적을 최적화하였으며, 일반적인 열린 루프 샘플링 기법을 적용한 버전1과 오프셋 및 플리커 잡음을 제거하여 동적 성능을 향상시키기 위해 닫힌 루프 샘플링 기법을 적용한 버전2로 각각 제작되었다. 또한 SHA와 MDAC 회로에는 스위치 기반의 전력 최소화 기법과 바이어스 공유 기법이 적용된 2단 증폭기를 사용하여 면적과 전력 소모를 최소화시켰다. 한편, 저전력, 소면적 구현을 위한 개선된 기준 전류 및 전압 발생기를 온-칩으로 집적하였으며, 시스템 응용에 파라 선택적으로 다른 크기의 기준 전압 값을 외부에서 인가할 수 있도록 하였다. 제안하는 시제품 ADC는 0.35um 2P4M CMOS 공정으로 제작되었으며, 측정된 DNL 및 INL은 12비트 해상도에서 각각 최대 0.78LSB, 2.24LSB의 수준을 보이며, 동적 성능으로는 1kS/s의 동작 속도에서 버전1, 버전2 각각 최대 60dB, 63dB 수준의 SNDR과 70dB, 75dB 수준의 SFDR을 보여준다. 시제품 ADC의 칩 면적은 버전1, 버전2 각각 $0.78mm^2,\;0.81mm^2$ 이며 전력 소모는 2.5V 전원 전압과 1kS/s의 동작 속도에서 각각 0.163mW, 0.176mw이다.

  • The effect of radioactive sulfur-35 on the growth and tissue respiration in rye, Secale cereale L., seedlings were studied in this investigation. The growth and respiration rate of the materials treated with the different intensities of radioactivity, represented by the different concentration(${\mu}c$) of radioactive sulfur were shown similar effects in treated groups as those of Gamma-ray or X-ray irradiation on plant materials. However, in the groups of ($0.1{\mu}c$ and ($0.4{\mu}c$ S35-solution, the growth and respiration rate were stimulated somewhat more clearly than in case of control. And the higher concentration groups, $1.6{\mu}c$, $6.4{\mu}c$, and $25.6{\mu}c$ were depressed of the growth and tissue respiration rate. The present data could be explained on the basis that the higher concentration treatments with the radioactive isotope did produce injury to the plant metabolism generally, but the moderate treatment would stimulate to the plant growth and tissue respiration.

Microcystis 3종(M. aeruginosa, M. ichthyoblabe, M. viridis)의 성장과 microcystins 생성에 대한 온도 및 조도의 영향 (Effects of the Temperature and Light Intensity on the Growth and Microcystin Production of Three Species of Microcystis (M. aeruginosa, M. ichthyoblabe, M. viridis))

  • 수화가 발생한 영천댐과 안계댐에서 분리한 Microcystis (M. aeruginosa, M. ichthyoblabe, M. viridis) 3종의 온도 및 조도에 대한 성장률과 microcystins 생성 특성을 알아보기 위해 배양실험을 실시하였다. 성장률은 3종 모두 $30^{\circ}C$ 이상에서 최고값을 나타내었으나 microcystins은 $20^{\circ}C$에서 최대로 생성되었으며, 온도가 증가할수록 microcystins 생성은 감소하였다. Microcystis aeruginosa와 M. ichthyoblabe은 $70\;{\mu}mol\;m^{-2}\;s^{-1}$의 광 조건에서 최대성장률을 나타낸 반면, M. viridis은 $35\;{\mu}mol\;m^{-2}\;s^{-1}$의 광 조건에서 최대성장률을 나타내었다. Microcystis aeruginosa, M. ichthyoblabe 및 M. viridis는 각각 $120\;{\mu}mol\;m^{-2}\;s^{-1}$, $70\;{\mu}mol\;m^{-2}\;s^{-1}$ 그리고 $35\;{\mu}mol\;m^{-2}\;s^{-1}$의 광 조건에서 최대의 microcystins를 생성하였다. 온도와 조도에 대한 이들 3종의 microcystins 생성정도와 microcystins 타입은 종간에 뚜렷한 차이를 나타내는 종 특이성을 보였다.

  • Objective: A case report on the improvement of athlete's foot using Ortho-Cellular Nutrition Therapy (OCNT). Methods: A Korean male in his 50s is suffering from athlete's foot for 10 years. Results: Keratinization of the soles and deformity of the toenails were alleviated after undergoing OCNT. Conclusion: Application of OCNT to patients with athlete's foot can help protect the skin barrier and improve symptoms.

Effects of the fermented Zizyphus jujuba in the amyloid β25-35-induced Alzheimer's disease mouse model

  • BACKGROUD/OBJECTIVES: Alzheimer's disease (AD) is the most common cause of dementia in the elderly. Due to the increased incidence of dementia, there is a corresponding increase concerning the importance of AD. In this study, we investigated the protective effects conferred by Zizyphus jujuba (Zj) and Zizyphus jujuba fermented by yeast (Zj-Y), on cognitive impairment in an AD mouse model. MATERIALS/METHODS: AD was induced by injecting amyloid beta25-35 (Aβ25-35) in ICR mice, and subsequently 200 mg/kg Zj or Zj-Y was administered daily for 14 days. The cognitive ability of AD mice was observed through behavioral experiments in T-maze, novel object recognition, and Morris water maze tests. We subsequently measured the levels of malondialdehyde (MDA), nitric oxide (NO), aspartate aminotransferase, and alanine aminotransferase in either tissues or serum. RESULTS: In behavioral tests, deterioration was revealed in the short- and long-term learning and memory functions in the Aβ25-35-injected control group compared to the normal group, indicating that Aβ25-35 injection impairs cognitive functions. However, administration of Zj and Zj-Y improved cognitive function in mice, as compared to the Aβ25-35-injected control mice. In addition, the Aβ25-35 induced elevations of MDA and NO in the brain, kidney, and liver were suppressed after exposure to Zj and Zj-Y. Especially, Zj-Y showed stronger scavenging effect against MDA and NO, as compared to Zj. CONCLUSIONS: Results of the present study indicate that Zj-Y exerts a protective effect on cognitive impairment and memory dysfunction, which is exerted by attenuating the oxidative stress induced by Aβ25-35.

Characterization of the Open Reading Frame 35 of Bombyx mori Nucleopolyhedrovirus

  • Open reading frame 35 (bm35) of the Bombyx mori nucleopolyhedrovirus (BmNPV) is a special gene whose homologues are only found in some group-I nucleopolyhedroviruses, suggesting that bm35 plays a specific role in the viral life cycle. This paper described the characterization of BmNPV bm35. Computerassisted sequence analysis shows that a putative RING finger motif is observed in the protein, Bm35 encoded by bm35. The coding sequence of bm35 was amplified and subcloned into the vector pET30a(+) and the $(His)_6$-tagged fusion protein His-Bm35 was expressed in the Escherichia coli BL21 (DE3) LysS cells. The bm35 transcript and Bm35 protein were detected in BmNPV-infected BmN cells at 12~48 h post infection (p.i.) by RT-PCR and Western blot analysis using the polyclonal antibody generated by immunizing a rabbit with purified $(His)_6$-tagged Bm35, suggesting that bm35 is synthesized in the late stage of BmNPV infection cycle. Bm35 was not a structural component associated with budded virus (BV) and occlusion derived virus (ODV). These data indicated that bm35 is a functional gene in the BmNPV life cycle.

초자화동결된 생쥐 미수정란의 Cytoskeleton 및 염색체 변화 (The Cytoskeletal and Chromosomal Constitution in Vitrified Mouse Oocyte)

  • 본 연구는 동해방지제인 EFS35를 이용한 생쥐 미수정란의 초자화동결이 cytoskeleton과 염색체에 미치는 영향을 indirect immunocytochemistry와 염색체 분석으로 확인하고자 실시하였다. 생쥐 미수정란은 M2 배양액에 35% ethylene glycol, 18% ficoll, 0.3 M sucrose와 10% FBS가 함유된 EFS35를 이용하여 초자화동결되었다. 본 연구에서 얻어진 결과는 다음과 같다 초자화동결된 미수정란의 융해후 생존율은 89.3%로써 노출군 (97.7%)과 차이가 없었다. 초자화동결이 미수정란의 microtubule과 microfilament에 미치는 영향을 조사하였던 바, 동결군 (95.5, 100%)의 microtubule과 microfilament의 정상적인 형성율은 대조군 (97.5, 100%) 또는 노출군 (92.3, 100%)의 결과와 비교하였을때 차이가 나타나지 않았다. 또한, 체외수정 후 동결 군에서 정상적인 염색체수를 가진 난자의 비율도 73.5%로써, 대조군 (79.5%)과 노출군 (78.7%)의 결과와 차이가 없었던 바, 생쥐 미수정란을 EFS35에 노출하고 동결하는 것이 미수정란의 cytoskeleton과 염색체 성상변화에 영향을 미치지 않는다는 것을 알 수 있었다. 따라서, 본 연구에서 사용된 동해방지제인 EFS35를 이응한 초자화동결법은 생쥐 미수정란의 동결에 적합하다는 것을 시사한다고 하겠다.

  • 동물유전자인 mouse adenosine deaminase (ADA)유전자가 안정적으로 연초 형질전환체에서 발현되었다. ADA cDNA 을 연초에서 강력히 발현시키기 위해서 35S/35S/AMV promoter을 부착시켰으며 식물세포에 도입을 위해서 binary vector인 pRD400을 이용하였다. 연초의 형질전환은 Tri- parental mating에 의해서 도입된 ADA 유전자 함유 binary vector와 disarmed Ti-plasmid을 함유하고 있는 Agrobacterium tmefacience MP9O을 사용하였다. 동시배양은 연초의 잎 disc을 이용해서 kanamycin이 첨가된 배지로부터 직접 shoots을 선발하여 형질전환체로 유도하였다. 형질전환 체에 ADA 유전자의 삽입여부는 PCR을 이용하였으며, 실험결과 ADA 유전자를 확인할 수 있었다. 또한 도입된 mouse ADA 유전자로부터 mRNA 및 단백질 합성여부를 각각 northern blot 및 immunoblot 분석한 결과 형질전환체 에서는 공히 확인되었다.

PERFORMANCE OF RAINBOW TROUT (Oncorhynchus mykiss) FED ON DIFFERENT DIETARY PROTEIN WITH FIXED ENERGY RATIO

  • An experiment was conducted on rainbow trout(Oncorhynclus mykiss) for eight weeks to investigate the growth performance of the fish fed with different dietary protein with constant diet energy of $20kJg^{-1}$. Four diets containing 25, 30, 35 and 40% crude protein were used. The highest mean final weight was obtained for the fish fed with diet having 35% protein. Growth performance in terms of Specific Growth Rate (SGR), Food Conversion Ratio (FCR) and Protein Efficiency Ratio (PER) were calculated for each diet. There were no significant differences in SGR but the highest value was exhibited by fish fed with 35% protein diet. Significant differences were found among FCR of different diets. Diets with 35 and 40% crude protein gave better FCR value than that of 25 and 30% crude protein. Although significant differences were not found between PER of different diets but PER of diet with 35% protein was found to be better than PER of both high and low protein diets (diets of 40 and 30% crude protein). It is concluded that diet having 35% protein with protein energy ratio of $17.53mgkJ^{-1}$ was suitable for rainbow trout (O. mykiss) among the protein spectrum used.

35 kWh급 초전도 플라이휠 에너지 저장 시스템 설계 및 제작 (Design and Construction of 35 kWh Class Superconductor Flywheel Energy Storage System)

  • A superconductor flywheel energy storage system (SFES) is an electro-mechanical battery which transforms electrical energy into mechanical energy for storage, and vice versa. A 35 kWh class SFES module was designed and constructed as part of a 100kWh/1MW class SFES composed of three 35 kWh class SFES modules. The 35 kWh class SFES is composed of a main frame, superconductor bearings, a composite flywheel, a motor/generator, electro-magnetic bearings, and a permanent magnet bearing. The high energy density composite flywheel is levitated by the permanent magnet bearing and superconductor bearings, while being spun by the motor/generator, and the electro-magnetic bearings are activated while passing through the critical speeds. Each of the main components was designed to provide maximum performance within a space-limited compact frame. The 35 kWh class SFES is designed to store 35 kWh, with a 350 kW charge/discharge capacity, in the 8,000 ~ 12,000 rpm operational speed range.
