High-Level synthesis of digital circuits calls for automatic translation of a behavioral description to a structural design entity represented in terms of components and connection. One of the critical steps in high-level synthesis is to determine a particular scheduling algorithm that will assign behavioral operations to control states. A new scheduling algorithm called Data Availability Scheduling (DAS) for high-level synthesis is presented. It can determine an appropriate scheduling algorithm and minimize the number of states required using data availability and dependency conditions extracted from the behavioral code, taking into account of states required using data availability and dependency conditions extracted from the behavioral code, taking into account resource constraint in each control state. The DAS algorithm is efficient because data availability conditions, and conditional and wait statements break the behavioral code into manageable pieces which are analyzed independently. The output is the number of states in a finite state machine and shows better results than those of previous algorithms.

Often ESOP(Exclusive Sum of Products) expressions provide more compact representations of logic functions and implemented circuits are known to be highly testable. Motivated by the merits of using XOR(Exclusive-OR) gates in circuit design, ESOP(Exclusive Sum of Products) expressions are considered s the input to the logic synthesis for random pattern testability. The problem of interest in this paper is whether ESOP expressions provide better random testability than corresponding SOP expressions of the given function. Since XOR gates are used to collect product terms of ESOP expression, fault propagation is not affected by any other product terms in the ESOP expression. Therefore the test set for a fault in ESOP expressions becomes larger than that of SOP expressions, thereby providing better random testability. Experimental results show that in many cases, ESOP expressions require much less random patterns compared to SOP expressions.

The resistive shunting for the fine control of a Direct Energy Transfer(DET) systems is fully developed, but the non-resistive shunting using variable size solar array segments is in progress. This paper presents the spacecraft power control through switching of solar array segments, which uses a fully regulated DET power regulation. This method eliminates a dissipative element and removes the associated design limitations which arise from the dissipative elements for radiating cooling in deep space. The switching shunt regulator comprises the switched Solar Array Shunt(SAS) modules that regulate the solar array power. These SAS modules connect/disconnect the solar array segments to/from the bus according to the loading in the main bus without significant variations in the dissipation level. In this paper, twelve segments are used in the shunting. In order to verify the basis of analysis, the computational result of an analytic loop gain is performed.

In this paper we apply routing algorithms in circuit switched networks to B-ISDN networks and investigate the performance. B-ISDN supports a wide range of services with hetrogeneous bandwidth requirements. We assume that the network supports D classes of traffic. It is modeled as a finite D dimensional Markov chain. A call is blocked on arrival if the required bandwidth is not available on the route. The shortest path routing, alternate routing and trunk reservation are considered for performance comparison. We also consider trunk reservation with restricted access control where the network reserves certain amount of bandwidths for one class of traffic that assumes a higher transmission priority. Through the method of successive iterations, we obtain the steady state equilibrium probabilities and call blocking probabilities for dynamic routing. The results can be used to design a B-ISDN network that improves network connection availability and efficiency while simultaneously reducing the network costs.

In this paper, an NxN input-buffered crosspoint packet switch which selects a Head of the Line, HOL, packet in contention randomly is analyzed with a new approach. The approach is based on both a Markov chain representation of the input buffer and the probability that a HOL packet is successfully served. The probability as a function of N is derived, and it makes it possible to express the average packet delay and the average number of packets in the buffer as a function of N. The contention resolution policy based on the occupancy of the input buffer is also presented and analyzed with this same approach and the relationship between two selection policies is analyzed in terms of the occupancy of the input buffer.

In this paper, a robust adaptive sliding mode control algorithm for accurate trajectory tracking of robot manipulators is proposed, with unknown parameters being estimated on-line. The controller is designed based on a Lyapunov method, which consists of adaptive feed-forward compensation part and a discontinuous control part. It is shown that, in the presence of the uncertainty and the disturbances arising from the actuator or some other causes, the tracking errors is bound to converge to zero asymptotically. An illustrative example is given to demonstrate the results of the propose method.

This paper deals with some characteristics of a nondestructive eddy current detector to measure OPGW(Composite overhead ground wire with optical fiber) corrosion. This detector is designed to automatically run on OPGW and to continuously inspect the corrosion of the line. The impedance of the eddy current coil changing by any corrosion phenomenon of OPGW is analyzed. Several performances of the detector are described and experimental procedures and test results are also given. As a result, it is shown that the implemented detector can be measured some quantitative data for crack, broken wires or severe deteriorations in OPGW. This nondestructive test method would be applied to improve the reliability and efficiency of transmission line in service.

A continuous, accurate, and robust variable structure tracking controller(CVSTC) is designed for brushless direct drive servo motors(BLDDSM). Although conventional variable structure controls can give the desired tracking performances, there exists an inevitable chattering problems in control input which is undesirable for direct drive systems. With the presented algorithm, not only the chattering problems are removed by using the efficient compensation of the disturbance observer, but also the prescribed tracking trajectory can be obtained using the sliding dynamics when an initial of the desired trajcetory is different from that of a BLDDSM. The design of the sliding mode tracking controller for the prescribed, accurate, and robust tracking performance without the chattering problem is given based on the results of the detailed stability analysis. The usefulness of the suggested algorithm is demonstrated through the computer simulation for a BLDDSM under load variations.

The photomachinable glass-ceramics of Ag and CeO2 doped Li203-SiO2 (LAS)glass system was investigated as a function of UV irradiation time. After the expose and the non-exposed samples were heated, they went under crystalline phase with DTA, SEM, TEM and XRD of normal/high temperature. In this work, crystalline phases, microstructure and dielectric properties were studied under the various time of UV irradiation and heat treatment.

In this paper, a new traffic sign detection algorithm.. and a symbol recognition algorithm are proposed. For traffic sign detection, a dominant color transform is introduced, which serves as a tool of highlighting a dominant primary color, while discarding the other two primary colors. For symbol recognition, the curvilinear shape distribution on a circle centered on the centroid of symbol, called a circular pattern vector, is used as a spatial feature of symbol. The circular pattern vector is invariant to scaling, translation, and rotation. As simulation results, the effectiveness of traffic sign detection and recognition algorithms are confirmed, and it is shown that group of circular patter vectors based on concentric circles is more effective than circular pattern vector of a single circle for a given equivalent number of elements of vectors.

A theoretical calculation and an optical measurement method of normal-incidence absorption are proposed. By using a waveguide structure, optical interference and the problem of low level signal can be avoided in the measurement of normal-incidence absorption. The oscillator strength of intersubband absorption for a waveguide structure is calculated in Si(001), Si(110), and Ge(001) quantum wells. The polarization angle dependence of the measured and the calculated absorption strength can be obtained with the same waveguide structure, and be compared after normalization. The normal-incidence absorption in Si(110) and Ge(001) quantum wells is shown theoretically, and can be observed in the optical measurement using waveguide structures at the polarization angle of 90

In this paper, we propose an effective on-line identification method for rotor resistance, which is useful in making speed control of induction motors without rotational transducers robust with respect to the variation in rotor resistance. Our identification method for rotor resistance is based on the linearly perturbed equations of the closed-loop system for sensorless speed control about th operating point. Our identification method for rotor resistance uses only the information of stator currents and voltages. In can provide fairly good identification accuracy regardless of load conditions. Some experimental results are presented to demonstrate the practical use of our identification method. For our experimental work, we have built a sensorless control system, in which all algorithms are implemented on a DSP. Our experimental results confirm that our on-line identification method allows for high precision speed control of commercially available induction motors without rotational transducers.

A DSP-based robust nonlinear speed control of a permanent magnet synchronous motor(PMSM) is presented. A quasi-linearized and decoupled model including the influence of parameter variations and speed measurement error on the nonlinear speed control of a PMSM is derived. Based on this model, a boundary layer integral sliding mode controller to improve the robustness and performance of the nonlinear speed control of a PMSM is designed and compared with the conventional controller. To show the validity of the proposed control scheme, simulations and experimental works are carried out and compared with the conventional control scheme.

A new flux-weakening scheme for an Interior Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motor (IPMSM) is proposed. This control scheme enables the maximum torque operation for the fast acceleration in the constant power region according to the current and voltage limit condition. Especially the dynamic performance of the braking in the flux-weakening region is improved with the compensation of the stator resistance. Also since the onset of the flux weakening operation is adjusted according to the load conditions, the machine parameters, and whether motoring or braking region, the stable and precise transition operation into or out of the flux weakening region can be achieved. The effectiveness of the proposed scheme is verified through experiments with an IPMSM drive system.

A single-crystalline epitaxial film of GaAs has been grown on Si using a gs assisted-ionized vapour beam eptaxial technique. The native oxide layer on the silicon substrate was removed at 550
$^{\circ}C$ by use of an accelerated arsenic ion beam, instead of a high-temperature desorption. During the growth the substrate temperature was maintained at 550$^{\circ}C$ . Transmission electron microscopy and electron diffraction data suggest that the GaAs layer is an epitaxially grown single-crystalline layer. The possibility of growing device quality GaAs on Si is able demonstrated through fabrication of GaAs MODFET on Si substrates. -
In this paper, in order to investigate the fading reduction effect of narrowband and broadband signals in an indoor multipath propagation environment, both the received narrowband signal while a vehicle unit in motion and the frequency sweeped broadband signal received by vertical polarized antenna, horizontal polarized antenna and circularly polarized antenna are analyzed. Specifically, in order to evaluate polarization diversity effect, we examined the difference of fading reduction effect between the polarization diversity reception and the space diversity reception. Using the correlation coefficient and correlation graph for the polarization diversity branches, the diversity effect is evaluated. And also, using the cumulative distribution for the received signal strength simulated by diversity reception, the diversity effect is also estimated. From the evaluation results it was found that the polarization diversity which use a circularly polarized antenna at the transmitting end and the vertical and horizontal polarized antenna branches at the receiving end is markedly excellent.

In this paper, a new interference rejection filter using the data-recycling technique is presented. The reference signal of the interference rejection filter is formed by using chip decisions, which is correlated with the narrowband interference components of the received signal. The decision feedback techniques reduce the distortion of the desired signal, which is introduced by the interference rejection filter through he use of feedback chip decisions. In order to update the filter coefficients a simple and efficient data-recycling technique that has improved performance over the conventional LMS algorithm is used. The performance of the proposed interference rejection filter is compared to filter with conventional LMS linear filter. The results show that the convergence speed of the proposed interference rejection filter using decision feedback and data-recycling technique is significantly faster than that of the conventional filters. Also, BER performance of the interference rejection filter demonstrates the superiority of the proposed filter algorithm.
