Cyanotoxin, microcystins commonly produced by cyanobacterial affect various aquatic organisms and even human health. Kinds, structures, measurement analysis, toxicity and removal of Microcystin-LR were explained and discussed.

Most of sewage treatment plants in Korea is operated for the removal of organic material. Because of low C/N ratio of domestic wastewater it is very difficult to remove nitrogen and phosphorus from wastewater. Therefore C/N ratio is key factor for the removed of nitrogen and phosphorus. PSB(photosynthetic bacteria) can remove the nutrient materials, so this study is focused on PSB characterization of nutrient removal. PSB is possible to remove nitrogen, phosphorus in anaerobic and aerobic condition. This study try to find out condition of the PSB in SBR reactor, Batch reactor. It consists of three Mode. Mode 1, 2 is to apply activated sludge process and Mode 3 is that seeded PSB in the activated sludge process. As a result of SBR process, Mode 1, 2 which was activated sludge Process showed $79\~90\%,\;66\~90\%$ of SCODcr, $94.67\~95.89\%,\;95.76\~98.56\%$ of TKN, and Mode 3 has $84\~92\%$ of SCODcr, $95.39\~99.52\%$ of TKN removal efficiency, respectively. When comparison with Mode 1, 2 and 3, most of nitrogen and phosphorus is removed at the anaerobic condition in Mode 3. but Mode 1, 2 has just revealed activated sludge process characterization. It would because of characterization of PSB.

Soy sauce is one of the most Korean representative and traditional seasoning sauce, which occupied about 150 million won of 550 billion won in the domestic sauce market. There are many arguments over the safety of the soy sauce made from acid-hydrolyzate. This study on the use pattern of soy sauce in the popular restaurants. Surveyed restaurants were 106 places in Uijeongbu-city The results of this study showed that the highest number of chemical soy sauce which was mixed with acid-hydrolyzated and commercial fermented soy sauce on surveyed restaurants. These results suggest that necessitate the requirements of establish of concerns for food safety again.

We just carried out this study in order to obtain an appropriate information of the population of toxigenic fungi in crude drugs in seoul. Results of fungal examination on twenty-three kinds crude drugs were described in this report. In 21 crude drugs, colonies of fungi were possible to identify into 7 genera. Predominant genera of fungi in crude drugs were Aspergillus spp. $(14,\;46.6\%)$, Scopulariospsis spp. $(7,\;23.3\%)$, Penicillium spp., Rhizopus spp., Fusarium spp $(2,\;6.6\%,\;respectively)$ and Phoma sp., Chaetomium sp. $(1,\; 3.3\%,\;respectively)$. Mycotoxin producing fungi like Aspergillus spp., Penicillum spp., and Fusarium spp. were 18 colonies$(60\%)$, totally.

Chitosan is a dietary fiber because of a linear polysaccharide composed of $\beta-(1{\rightarrow}4)$-linked 2-amino-2-deoxy-D-glucopyranose. In this study, control release system of vitamin C has been estimated in chitosan molecular network as a vitamin C carrier of controlled release. The amount of released vitamin C were decreased in higher amount of chitosan concentration. Especially, vitamin C were slowly released from chitosan solution in dialysis membrane when compared with vitamin C solution alone in dialysis membrane. These result assumed that chitosan driving force is dependent on chitosan molecular weight and cationic property of amino group with anionic property of vitamin C.

This study was Performed to survey and evaluate the contents of Plasticizers such as DEP(diethyl phthalate), DPrP(di-n-Phthalate), DBP(di-n-butyl Phthalate), DPP(di-n-pentyl Phthalate), DCHP(dicyclohexyl phthalate), BBP (butylbenzyl phthalate), DEHP(di-(2-ethylhexyl) phthalate) and DEHA(di-(2-ethylheryl) adipate), which are suspected as endocrine disruptors, in food and drug PVC packaging. Tested samples were 5 food wraps, 35 food containers, 40 food and drug packages(type of tablet and capsule) in Gyeonggi-Do area. The contents of DEHA in wrap were 188.9g/kg, 203.1g/kg, 238.4g/kg, 290.9g/kg and 308.3g/kg, respectively, while the other plasticizers were not detected. DEHP was used in 4 samples of food containers and DEHP contents were 4.7g/kg, 30.7g/kg, 35.8g/kg and 53.4g/kg, respectively. In food and drug packaging materials(type of tablet and capsule), the plasticizers were not detected.

The World Health Organization(WHO, 1998) and the United States Environmental Protection Agency (USEPA, 1992) recommended $2{\mu}\;guranium/{\ell}$ in drinking water as a guideline. The Korea Institute for Environmental Research recently reported that the radioactive pollution in ground water was almost negligible In Korea$(1999\~2002)$. Cs were cast into beads(2mm in wet form) and treated with hexamethylene diisocyanate for stability in acidic aqueous solution through cross-linking of the beads surfaces. The removal study was carried out in a static batch system and a flow system. In the static system, a certain amount of sample water was confined in a vessel and beads(dry weight 0.5g) were packed into it in order to adsorb uranium for a certain period of time. Afterwards the remaining uranium in water vessel was determined by inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometry. The effective pH range was 4 to 8. The smaller the size of beads, the better the removal efficiency. Furthemore, the lower the flow rates, the higher the removal efficiency. The results showed that chitosan beads can be effectively used for the removal of uranium contained in water.
