AN EXTENSION OF JENSEN-MERCER INEQUALITY WITH APPLICATIONS TO ENTROPY

  • The Jensen and Mercer inequalities are very important inequalities in information theory. The article provides the generalization of Mercer's inequality for convex functions on the line segments. This result contains Mercer's inequality as a particular case. Also, we investigate bounds for Shannon's entropy and give some new applications in zeta function and analysis.

  • In this paper, we prove that infinite-dimensional vector spaces of -dense curves are generated by means of the functional equations f(x)+f(2x)+${\cdots}$+f(nx) = 0, with $n{\geq}2$, which are related to the partial sums of the Riemann zeta function. These curves ${\alpha}$-densify a large class of compact sets of the plane for arbitrary small ${\alpha}$, extending the known result that this holds for the cases n = 2, 3. Finally, we prove the existence of a family of solutions of such functional equation which has the property of quadrature in the compact that densifies, that is, the product of the length of the curve by the $n^{th}$ power of the density approaches the Jordan content of the compact set which the curve densifies.

  • The purpose of the present paper is to introduce and investigate two new subclasses of bi-univalent functions of complex order defined in the open unit disk, which are associated with Hurwitz-Lerch zeta function and satisfying subordinate conditions. Furthermore, we find estimates on the Taylor-Maclaurin coefficients ${\mid}a_2{\mid}$ and ${\mid}a_3{\mid}$ for functions in the new subclasses. Several (known or new) consequences of the results are also pointed out.

  • CDMA 셀룰라 시스템은 같은 시간에 같은 주파수를 모든 사용자들이 같이 사용하므로 자기 신호 외의 다른 사용자의 신호는 간섭으로 나타나 통신 품질에 영향을 미친다. 이 간섭의 양에 따라 단위 셀당 사용자 수로 정의되는 시스템의 용량이 결정되며 간섭량의 정확한 계산이 이루어져야 시스템 성능 평가를 정확히 할 수 있다. 본 논문은 임의의 겹(tiers) 구조를 갖는 다중 셀 구성의 CDMA 셀룰라 시스템의 타셀 간섭량을 계산하기 위해 Riemann-Zeta 함수를 이용하여 임의의 전파 감쇄 지수에도 적용할 수 있는 근사식을 제안하였고, 제안된 식의 수치 결과와 시뮬레이션 결과를 비교하여 그 효용을 살펴보았다. 제안된 근사식을 이용해 계산한 타셀 간섭량과 시스템 용량은 시뮬레이션을 통해 얻은 결과를 중심으로 상한과 하한을 이루고 있으며 겹 수에 따른 값의 변화가 평균 간섭 및 용량 계산치와 일치하는 결과를 얻었다. 제안된 타셀 간섭 근사식은 복합적인 전파 환경이 공존하는 계층셀(Hierarchical Cellular) 시스템에서의 간섭 및 용량 계산과 알고리즘 검증에 유용하게 사용될 수 있을 것으로 생각된다.

Maximum vortex-induced vibrations of a square prism

  • This paper presents an experimental investigation concerning the peak amplitudes of oscillation of a square prism due to Vortex-Induced-Vibrations (VIV) as a function of the mass damping parameter $m^*{\zeta}$(the so called Griffin--plot); $m^*$ and ${\zeta}$ being, respectively, the non-dimensional mass and the mechanical (structural) damping ratio. With this purpose in mind, an electromagnetic actuator has been employed to provide controlled damping. During the experiments the mass--damping parameter was in the range 0.15 < $m^*{\zeta}$ < 2.4. Experiments show that there is a value of $m^*{\zeta}$ below which VIV appears combined with galloping and the prism oscillation increases monotonically with the incoming flow velocity. For $m^*{\zeta}$ >0.3 the present experiments show a well-defined VIV phenomenon and, consequently, a Griffin-plot can be defined.

경계적분방정식의 수치해법 -축대칭 유동- (A Numerical Solution Method of the Boundary Integral Equation -Axisymmetric Flow-)

  • 본 보에서는 축대칭포텐시얼유동에 대한 경계적분방정식의 해법이 제시된다. 이 문제는 고리용출점과 고리보오텍스에 의해서 표시되는데 이들의 세기는 한 구간내에서 매개변수 $\zeta$의 선형함수로 근사된다. 물체의 형상은 3차 B-spline으로 표시된다. 속도가 계산되는 점이 고리용출점이나 고리보오텍스에 접근할 때의 극한표현식이 $\zeta{ln}\zeta$항까지 유도된다. 수치계산에서 양 옆구간에 의한 주치적분은 정확하게 서로 상쇄되기 때문에 특이점에 의한 유기속도중 $\(\frac{1}{\zeta}\)$에 비례하는 항은 계산에서 제외된다. 그리고 ${ln}\zeta$에 비례하는 항과 $\zeta{ln}\zeta$에 비례하는 항은 해석적으로 적분이 가능하기 때문에 수치계산에서 이에 비례하는 항을 빼고 계산한 후 해석적으로 계산한 값을 더해 준다. 기타 수치적분은 4점 Gaussian Quadrature 공식에 의해서 수행되었다. 수렴률을 정하기 위하여 구간의 개수에 따른 평균자승근오차를 조사하였으며, 이 방법의 수렴률은 2에 접근점이 밝혀졌다.

  • In this paper we define the (p, q)-analogue of Bernoulli numbers and polynomials by generalizing the Bernoulli numbers and polynomials, Carlitz's type q-Bernoulli numbers and polynomials. We also give some interesting properties, explicit formulas, a connection with (p, q)-analogue of Bernoulli numbers and polynomials. Finally, we investigate the zeros of the (p, q)-analogue of Bernoulli polynomials by using computer.

EVALUATIONS OF SOME QUADRATIC EULER SUMS

  • This paper develops an approach to the evaluation of quadratic Euler sums that involve harmonic numbers. The approach is based on simple integral computations of polylogarithms. By using the approach, we establish some relations between quadratic Euler sums and linear sums. Furthermore, we obtain some closed form representations of quadratic sums in terms of zeta values and linear sums. The given representations are new.

  • In this paper, we consider a modified Euler polynomials ${\tilde{E}}_{n,q}(x)$ with variable $[x]_q$ and investigate some interesting properties of the Euler polynomials. We also give some relationships between the modified Euler polynomials and their Hurwitz zeta function. Finally, we derive some identities associated with Bernstein polynomials.
