  • In this paper a novel line interactive UPS (Uninterruptible Power Supply) using the two 4-leg VSCs and AC line reactor is proposed. The 4-leg Voltage Source Converter(VSC) can use the DC link voltage effectively by the 3-D SVPWM method. Hence the DC battery voltage can be reduced by $15\%$ in comparison to that of the conventional line-interactive UPS system. One VSC is in parallel with the AC line reactor of the power source side, and the other is in series with the load. The parallel 4-leg voltage source inverter controls three-phase line voltage independently in order to control the line reactor current indirectly. It eliminates the neutral line current and the active ripple power of the source side using the pqr theory so that unity power factor and the sinusoidal source current can be achieved even though both the source and the load voltages have zero sequence components. The series 4-leg voltage source inverter compensates the line voltage and allows the load voltage to be balanced and harmonic-free. Both of parallel and series 4-leg voltage source inverters always act as independently controllable voltage sources, so that three-phase output voltage shows a seamless transition to the backup mode. The feasibility of the proposed UPS system has been investigated and verified through computer simulation results.

6 직렬 연결된 ITER VS 컨버터의 시퀀스제어 비교 해석 (Comparative Analysis of Sequence Control in Six Series-Connected ITER VS Converters)

  • This study investigates the structure and operation of the ITER VS converter and proposes a sequence control method for six series-connected VS converters to reduce reactive power. The operation and the proposed sequence control method are verified through RTDS simulation. The ITER VS converter must supply voltage/current to the superconducting magnets for plasma current vertical stabilization, and the four-quadrant operation must proceed without a zero-current discontinuous section. The operation mode of the VS converter is separated into a 12- and 6-pulse circulating current and transition modes according to the size of the load current. The output voltage of the unit VS converter is limited because of the rated voltage; however, the superconducting coil must increase the operating output voltage. Thus, the VS converter must be connected in a 6-series to provide the required operating output voltage. The output voltage of the VS converters is controlled continuously; however, reactive power is limited within a minimized value of the grid. In this study, the unit converter is compared with converters connected in a 6-series to determine a suitable sequence control method. The output voltage is the same in all cases, but the maximum reactive power is reduced from 100% to 73%. This sequence control method is verified through RTDS simulation.

Complex Quadruplet Zero Locations from the Perturbed Values of Cross-Coupled Lumped Element

  • In this paper, complex quadruplet zeros of microwave filter systems are investigated. For the cascaded systems the chain matrices are most conveniently used to derive the voltage transfer function of Laplace transform with cascaded two-port subsystems. The convenient relations of transfer function and chain matrix are used in order to find the transmission zeros. Starting from a ladder network, we introduced a crossed-coupled lumped element, in order to show the improved response of bandpass filter. By solving the transmission zero characteristic equation derived from the cascaded subsystems, we found the zeros of filter system with externally cross-coupled lumped elements. With the cross-coupled elements of capacitors, the numerator polynomial of system transfer function is used to locate the quadruplet zeros in complex plane. When the two pairs of double are on the zeros -axis, with the perturbed values of element, we learned that the transition band of lowpass filter is improved. By solving the characteristic equation of cascaded transfer function, we can obtain the zeros of the cross-coupled filter system, as a result of perturbed values on lumped element.

순환 전류를 저감 시킬 수 있는 보조 Coupled-inductor를 사용한 영-전압 스위칭 interleaved 벅-컨버터 (Zero-Voltage Transition Interleaved Buck Converter with an Auxiliary Coupled-Inductor)

  • 본 논문에서는 interleaved 벅-컨버터를 영-전압 스위칭으로 구동하기 위한 새로운 회로를 제안한다. 제안하는 회로는 두개의 벅-컨버터 모듈과 보조 회로로 구성된다. 보조 회로는 coupled-inductor와 커패시터로 구성된다. Coupled-inductor에 흐르는 전류가 스위치가 꺼지기 전에 스위치의 전류의 방향을 바꾸어서 영 전압 스위칭을 달성한다. 제안하는 회로는 보조회로에 반도체 소자를 추가하지 않고 수동 소자만으로 구성하여 신뢰성의 저하를 막는다. 또한 수동 소자만으로 구성된 보조 회로로 인해 발생하는 도통 손실의 증가를 최소화 한다. 제안하는 회로는 시뮬레이션을 통해 검증하였다.

  • 본 논문에서는 하나의 감극성 커플드 인덕터 보조 회로를 갖는 발전된 영전압 천이 소프트-스위칭 인버터를 제안한다. 기존에 제안된 소프트-스위칭 인버터의 큰 커패시터나 추가 회로의 필요성과 같은 구조적 단점을 극복하였다. 또한, 하나의 커플드 인덕터 보조 회로를 이용하여 풀-브리지 인버터를 구현하여 보조 회로의 소자 수를 줄여 가격과 부피에서 장점이 있다. 본 논문에서 제안된 회로의 동작 원리와 특성들을 다룰 것이며 시뮬레이션을 통하여 유효성을 검증하였다.

  • A new low conduction loss, low cost zero-voltage-transition power factor correction circuit(PFC) is presented. Conventional PFC which consists of a bridge diode and a boost converter(one switch) always has three semiconductor conduction drops. Two switch type PFCs reduces conduction loss by reducing one conduction drop but the cost is increased because of increased number of active switches. The proposed PFC reduces conduction loss with one switch, which allows low cost. Conduction loss improvement is a little bit less than that of two switch type, but very close up. Operation and features are comparatively illustrated and verified by simulation and experimental results of 1 kW laboratory prototype.

  • 본 논문에서는 전파형 ZVT-PWM 승압형 컨버터를 제안한다. 보조 스위치를 전파형 모드에서 동작을 시킴으로써, 기존의 컨버터에서 보조 스위치가 턴-오프 순간에 하드 스위칭(hard switching)을 하는 반면에 제안된 컨버터는 수동 및 능동 소자를 추가하지 않고 보조 스위치의 턴-오프 손실과 스위칭 잡음(noise)을 줄였고 그리고 고전력 밀도 시스템을 구현할 수 있다.

  • In this paper, a new active snubber circuit that overcomes most of the drawbacks of the normal "zero voltage transition pulse width modulation" (ZVT-PWM) converter is proposed to contrive a new family of ZVT- PWM converter. A converter with the proposed snubber circuit can also operate at light load conditions. A design procedure of the proposed active snubber circuit is also presented. Additionally, at full output power in the proposed soft switching converter, the main switch loss is about 27[%] and the total circuit loss is about 36[%] of that in its counterpart hard switching converter, and so the overall efficiency, which is about 91[%] in the hard switching case, increases to about 97[%].

  • This paper presents parallel operation of ZVT(Zero Voltage Transition) Full Bridge Converter with Dynamic Current Shared Inductor. In the conventional method, CT(Current Transformer) have been used to share the load current equally with converters. In this system, at parallel operation of ZVT Full Bridge Converter, dynamic current shared inductor divides the same current of unit converter and ZVT circuit aids to high efficiency. This method which is proposed to compare in the conventional method will do simple control circuit. To show the superiority of this converter is verified through the experiment with a 2kW, 50kHz prototype converter.

  • In this paper, the diode bridge-type ZVT(Zero-Voltage Transition) inverter is proposed. It consists of one auxiliary switch, three resonant inductors and six blocking diodes. So, the advantage of the proposed topology is the reduction of the auxiliary switch. The topology of the proposed ZVT inverter is analyzed with a description of the control conditions based on the load current. Therefore, this paper two control algorithms were discussed. A variable resonant pattern control algorithm by using load current feedback and a resonant period control algorithm by using resonant inductor current feedback is proposed in order to achieve the ZVT switching condition in full control range and the reducing current spike main switches cause by reverse recovery problem.
