Ground state energy levels of $Gd^{3+}$ ion (effective spin S = 7/2) in $PbWO_4$ single crystal doped with $Gd^{3+}$ paramagnetic impurity at tetragonal symmetry are calculated with spectroscopic splitting parameters and zero field splitting parameters using by effective spin Hamiltonian. It turns out that the zero field splitting energies of $Gd^{3+}$ ion were the same regardless of the directions of $PbWO_4$ : Gd single crystal. The calculated energy differences for ${\mid{\pm}7/2}$ > ${\leftrightarrow}{\mid{\pm}5/2}$ >, ${\mid{\pm}5/2}$ > ${\leftrightarrow}{\mid{\pm}3/2}$ >, and ${\mid{\pm}3/2}$ > ${\leftrightarrow}{\mid{\pm}1/2}$ > transitions were 6.9574 GHz, 6.9219 GHz, and 15.8704 GHz, respectively when the applied magnetic field is zero. The calculated energy level diagrams were different for different directions of applied magnetic field. For B // a- and c-axis, the energy level diagrams are calculated and discussed.

Under the regulation of rational energy use in public institutions, it has been mandatory for educational facilities to meet the first grade or higher since 2014. Also the regulation has forced educational facilities as public institutions to use renewable energy since September 2008. Educational facilities are required to be qualified as zero-energy buildings from 2020 under the revision of the Green Building Act. In this study, we identified the current status of the building energy efficiency rating system and the renewable energy system installation for 316 educational facilities that were accredited as "building energy efficiency rating system" from February 2015 to March 2019. Also we analyzed the energy self-sufficiency rate based on energy requirements and renewable energy output. Of the 316 facilities, 12 had 1++ and 293 had 1++ for the "Building Energy Efficiency Rating System". Among the 12 facilities which had 1+++, 11 recorded ZEB level 5 or higher, and 28 out of the 293 facilities(11%) which got received 1++ had ZEB level 5. Thus, it is impossible to implement the ZEB certification system for educational facilities under the present conditions. Expanding the ratio of 1+++ and investing in renewable energy systems should be preceded.

This paper presents the two lossless auxiliary inductors-assisted voltage source type half bridge (single ended push pull: SEPP) series resonant high frequency inverter for induction heated fixing roller in copy and printing machines. The simple high-frequency inverter treated here can completely achieve stable zero current soft switching (ZCS) commutation for wide its output power regulation ranges and load variations under its constant high frequency pulse density modulation (PDM) scheme. Its transient and steady state operating principle is originally described and discussed for a constant high-frequency PDM control strategy under a stable ZCS operation commutation, together with its output effective power regulation characteristics-based on the high frequency PDM strategy. The experimental operating performances of this voltage source SEPP ZCS-PDM series resonant high frequency inverter using IGBTs are illustrated as compared with computer simulation results and experimental ones. Its power losses analysis and actual efficiency are evaluated and discussed on the basis of simulation and experimental results. The feasible effectiveness of this high frequency inverter appliance implemented here is proved from the practical point of view.

The KINS (KAERI-Improved Nodal Simulation) program, a three-dimensional nodal simulation code for pressurized water reactors, has been developed and benchmarked against the first cycle of the Kori-1 reactor. The KINS program is based on the computational model used in FLARE code and has been modified to represent the PWR characteristics more explicitly. The critical boron concentration and three-dimensional power distribution at the beginning of life hot zero power have been calculated and compared with the operating data. A three-dimensional depletion calculation at the intervals of 1000 MWD/MTU turnup steps has been performed. As the result of comparison, our calculation is shown to be in excellent agreement with the operating data. It is displayed that, incorporated with the computing time, the KINS program is an effective and powerful tool for PWR core management.

In achieving carbon neutrality and the hydrogen economy, the estimation of H2 cost is critical in terms of CCU technologies. This study analyzes LCOH of hydrogen produced by the carbon utilization unit with methane reforming and CO2 from thermal power plant. LCOH for H2 made with CO is estimated in three ways of Joint Cost Allocations with financial performance risk assessment. Regarding cost analysis, the zero value of LCOH is $6,003/ton. We found that the CCU technology has economic feasibility in terms of profitability. The sensitivity analysis result shows that the input ratio is more influential to the LCOH than other variables. Risk analysis presents the baseline price of zero value of LCOH - $8,408/ton, which is higher than the cost analysis - $6,003/ton. Mainly, the price variability of natural gas primarily affects the LCOH. The study has significant value in analyzing the financial performance risks as well as the cost of H2 produced by a Plasma-based CCU system.

Time-dependent frequency and energy of free vibration of the Spagetti problem, that is the axially moving continuum with time-varying length, are investigated. Exact expressions for the natural frequency and time-varying vibration energy are derived by dealing with traveling waves. When the string length is increased, the vibration period increases, but the free vibration energy varies as a function of both translating velocity and boundary velocity of the continuum. However, when the string undergoes retraction, the vibration energy increases with time, String tension together with non-zero instantaneous velocity at the moving boundary results in energy variation.
A novel current-fed energy-recovery sustaining driver (CFERSD) for a PDP is proposed in this paper. Its main idea is to recover the energy stored in the PDP or to inject the input source energy to the PDP by using the current source built-up in the energy recovery inductor. This method provides zero-voltage-switching (ZVS) of all main power switches, the reduction of EMI, and more improved operational voltage margins with the aid of the discharge current compensation. In addition, since the current flowing through the energy recovery inductor can compensate the plasma discharge current flowing through the conducting power switches, the current stress through all main power switches can be considerably reduced. Furthermore, it features a low conduction loss and fast transient time. Operations, features and design considerations are presented and verified experimentally on a 1020X106mm sized PDP, 50kHz-switching frequency, and sustaining voltage 140V based prototype.
Time-dependent period and energy of free vibration of a string, whose length varies with time at a constant rate, are investigated by a traveling wave method. When the string length is increased, the vibration period increase, but the free vibration energy decrease with time. However, when the string undergoes retraction, the vibration energy increases with time. String tension together with non-zero instantaneous velocity at the moving boundary results in energy variation. Analytical solutions by the traveling wave method are compared with previous results using the perturbation method and Kotera's approach.

Hydrogen is considered a key energy source to achieve carbon neutrality through the global goal of 'Net Zero'. Due to limitations in domestic green hydrogen production, Korean companies are interested in importing green hydrogen produced overseas. Because Australia and the Middle East possess high-quality renewable energy resources, they are attracting attention as suitable regions for producing green hydrogen using renewable energy. The cost of constructing and operating a green ammonia plant varies depending on the region. In this study, an economic feasibility comparison of green ammonia plant construction in Australia and the Middle East is conducted. Through this, it is expected to contribute to the economic analysis and feasibility analysis of the project to import hydrogen in the form of green ammonia into Korea.
