Construction management is essential for a achieving any pre-determined objective. It is however seen that in spite of construction management, majority of the project do not keep up their original time schedule and their completion cost is also higher as compared with the estimated cost The main reason for overrun in time and cost is that the planning at the outset of the project was not adequate or method of planning was not a refined one. In this research work, I showed the overall conditions of construction work and management in Sylhet city of Bangladesh and found many drawbacks in the construction management after completing my research. I found several factors affecting proper construction management and I have provided brief results. I have also provided some recommendations after my research work.

GS E&C had developed construction management system, PMS which is based on EVMS in 1997. Recently, TPMS has developed for effective construction management through applying daily schedule management and JIT on materials, labors, equipments focusing field work. TPMS realizes "Shielding" and "Make-Ready Process" which are the main concept of Lean construction. Through this system, it can manage and plan daily field work, support the field work related material, labor, and equipment planning, and minimizes the non-valuable process. This paper introduces the concept of TPMS, and through established system, it can lead the construction culture and raise the competitive power of construction industry

Demand is increasing for large, high-rise, and complex buildings, which is leading to advances in the development of high-performance structural systems. In this context, precast concrete (PC) technology has received a large amount of attention owing to its benefits in terms of schedule reduction, high quality, and easy installation. In addition, advanced methodologies that improve the PC performance by the addition of various materials have recently been reported. Research on analyzing the effects of such high-performance PC on the construction process and productivity is very limited. This makes it difficult for decision-makers to apply PC to particular projects. Thus, the aim of this research was to analyze the work productivity of the high-performance PC slab installation process by using a construction simulation tool to resolve critical issues. In this study, a real construction project that adopted PC slab installation work was analyzed, and a sensitivity analysis was performed to confirm the reliability of the analysis results.

In building construction project, there are numerous information or data parts across many different software applications and professional specialists. BIM (Building Information Modeling), as a medium for managing information generated during construction project, it is intended to enhance the effectiveness of construction management and reap a lot of advantages such as, automatic quantity takeoff, error-free estimation, 4D(3D+Time), 5D(4D+Cost) simulation. Nevertheless, the overall and practical effectiveness of BIM utilization is difficult to justify at this stage. While helpful, there are some limitation when BIM applied to construction management due to the differences of data processing process between BIM and work in the field, limitations of information generated from BIM object and interoperability problem among BIM application. Therefore, this paper propose a framework integrating BIM with cost-schedule information using IFC. And we construct the system prototype based on the framework and performed case study to examine the framework. The proposed framework provides the information basis for BIM based cost-schedule integration. ultimately, the framework increase the utilization of BIM and work efficiency of construction industry by supporting an understanding of information.

This article aims to (a) investigate children's images of a scientist's life style by comparing children's drawings about a scientist's schedule with those about a company employee's schedule in a weekday and on Sunday; and (b) examine the usefulness of 'Drawing A Scientist's Schedule (DASS)' test as a new instrument of learners' conceptions of a scientist and his/her work. To do those, thirty sixth- grade children participated in this study. The children, 15 boys and 15 girls, were selected from a classroom of an elementary school located in Gongju city. The children's drawings were analyzed in conjunction with individual interviews. The interviews facilitated the clarification of any ambiguous attributes of the drawings by questioning after their completion. Several significant conclusions can be drawn from this work: First, the children conceived that a scientist has more mandatory time, and less necessary and leisure time than does a company employee. Interestingly, many children thought that a scientist has similar life style on Sunday to that in a weekday, unlike a company employee. Second, in case of necessary time use in a weekday and on Sunday, the difference between a scientist and a company employee results from their sleeping time. Also, the children showed more various conceptions of a scientist's sleeping time than those of a company employee's sleeping time. Third, in case of mandatory time use, the children conceived that a scientist spends more time for his/her occupational work and less time for his/her housework activities than does a company employee. Fourth, the children's drawings showed that there is difference between a scientist's and a company employee's leisure time use and activities. Finally, the DASS test indicated its possibility and usefulness as an instrument for investigating learners' images on a scientist and his/her work. The instrument exhibited several distinctive children's conceptions that is difficult in identifying by using the DAST, a popular instrument.

Purpose: The purposes are to identify the factors that influence work-based stressor experienced by clinical nurses and to provide a perceived causal structural model among these factors. Method: Data was collected and analyzed in 2 steps to apply a perceived causal structure : network analysis which was developed by Kelley(1983). Results: 1. The extracted causes from qualitative data were identified 10 categories ; over loaded work, relative feelings of deprived, inefficient duty schedule, negative attitudes of patient, burden of extra affair, inadequate administrative support, negative attitudes of physician, conflict with other personnels in hospital, lack of professional knowledge and skill, nursing service marketing burden. 2. Construction of the perceived causal structural model ; 1) The most central cause is over loaded work and the distal causes were inadequate administrative support, lack of professional knowledge and skill in the systems of causation. 2) The causes that have a number of outgoing link were over loaded work, inadequate administrative support, negative attitudes of physician. 3) The cause that have a number of incoming link was relative feelings of deprived. Conclusion: The network suggests that the first centre cause was related on over loaded work.
Standard safety management costs can not be applied to each site with same rate, it is very difficult, because it depends on the experience, work method, work kind, work progress schedule, and hazard level of each construction company. Therefore, this study is to find out hazard level of each work kinds through questionnaire and interview and investigate analyze the status which standard safety management costs have been used. Also, this study is to show reasonable rates of standard safety management costs in construction industry and to set up countermeasures against those problem after reviewing its status in korea with in Japan and Europe. This study is to investigate eleven project kinds of domestic system, first, and to investigate eleven items of apartment bldg, office. Also this study is to investigate and analyze performed costs of presently processing worker finished work so that it shows a new reasonable rate against standard safety management costs in construction industry, in order to make basical data and material to be systemized.

Objectives : To evaluate the association between working conditions and adverse pregnancy outcomes in Korea. Methods : We obtained data on health history, lifestyle, housework and Working conditions, such as shift work, hours standing, working time, job demand, lifting at work and at home, between August and September 2000, from self-reported questionnaires. A group of 344, occupationally active, pregnant women from 51 industries were studied. Of the women studied, 328 women were further interviewed by telephone between November 2000 and September 2001. Result : Compared with daytime work, shift work increased the risk for preform birth (an adjusted risk ratio of 2.74, 95% CI=1.02-2.62) and low birth weight (an adjusted risk ratio of 2.74,95% CI=1.02-2.02). A significantly increased risk was found for prolonged standing, with an adjusted risk ratio of preform births of 6.80 (95% CI=2.01-23.0). There were no significant differences in the incidence of spontaneous abortion between the occupational working conditions, with the enception of a previous history of spontaneous abortion. Conclusion : These findings suggest that maternal working conditions, such as shift work and prolonged standing, contribute significantly to preterm birth and low birth weight.
