The purpose of this study was to test a causal model of subjective financial well-being. The data of this research was obtained from 660wives who lived in Seoul, 1996. Major findings of this study were at follows: 1. Both employed and unemployed wives, younger managers were more likely to have a higher cohesion and adaptability between spouses. For the unemployed wives, locus of control over managers’financial situation and perception of gap between standard and level of living were significant predictors of the personal subsystem. 2. In both groups, financial planning was positively influenced by amount of saving. But amount of saving was not significant predictor of financial implementing. Financial implementing was positively influenced by locus of control, in the unemployed wives. For the employed wives, predictors of financial implementing were family income and marriage duration. 3. For the employed wives, the effect of personal and managerial subsystem on subjective financial well-being was greater than unemployed wives. 4. It was found that personal and managerial subsystems had effect on subjective financial well-being. Thus, the path model designed in this research was found to be proven for employed and unemployed wives.
The purpose of this study was to investigate the relationship between wive's sex-role attitude and their marital satisfaction for understanding a part of marital relations. For this purpose, a questionnaire was constructed and administrated to 626 married women. the sex role attitude scale was a modified version of the sex-role attitude scale constructed by Osmond and Martin, and the marital satisfaction scale was developed basing upon the scales used by Terman and Hayes & Stinnett. The result of this study are summarized as follows; The majority of wives have relatively modem attitude toward their sex role in the extra familial roles. Wives have relatively modem attitude toward their sex role when the couples are younger, more educated, on a higher income level and working or a job (especially or a professional job). Wife's education level, husband's education level and family income make significant difference in their marital satisfaction specifically, a wife would be relatively more satisfied when she has more education and the family income level is higher. It is founded that wives sex role attitude has significant relationship with their marital satisfaction. A wife tends to be more satisfied when she has a traditional sex role attitude . A professional wife who has a traditional attitude shows most satisfaction and one who has a modern attitude and not having a job tends to be most dissatisfied with her marriage. It is also founded that a wife who has traditional attitude and received college education are above shows most satisfaction while the wife who has modern attitude and received high school education or below shows most dissatisfaction with their marriage lives.
Previous studies show that working wives in the market contribute to the family economy that affects the family member's behaviors as consumers. Accordingly, the consumer behavior among working wives would be differ form that among nonworking wives. As the number of working wives in the market is increasing, this study focuses on the estimation of the degree of rationality in purchasing decision making among wives in relation to their working status. Therefore, this study attempts to construct an rationality index of a purchasing decision making both at a high and a low involvement situation by working and nonworking wives, and analyzes the differences in the results of the two groups. This study also examines how the rationality indices vary with the selected socioeconomic variables. The data are obtained from self-administered questionnaires from a sample of 217 working and 191 nonworking wives at Seoul and Seongnam in 1986. The statistical methods used in this study are Factor Analysis, Multiple Regression, and Analysis of Variances. The major findings of this study are as follows; 1) The mean value of the rationality index among nonworking wives is higher than that among working wives. Under a high involvement situation, the mean value of the rationality index among working wives is negative. Therefore, it is likely that nonworking wives make purchasing decisions more rationally than working wives. 2) The higher the degree of wive's education, the more rational the purchasing decision making. Under a low involvement situation, the higher the monthly family income, the more rational the purchasing decision making . under the same situation, the shorter the duration of marriage , the more rational the purchasing decision making. 3) Under a low involvement situation, the rationality indices of working wives vary with their occupations. The rationality indices among those in selling and service jobs are lower than those among those in professional jobs. 4) The impact of the selected socio-economic variables on the degree of the rationality in purchasing decision making differs depending on whether the wife is working or not. Under a low involvement situation, the positive impact of the monthly family income on the rationality in purchasing decision making is stronger among nonworking wives than among working wives. Under the same situation, the negative impact of the duration of marriage on the rationality is stronger among nonworking wives than among working wives.

The degree of life satisfaction of employed wives indicated more than middle level(M=3.44) While the degree of satisfaction in marital satisfaction indicated high the degree of satsifaction in the used time and role performance indicated low 2. On the whole the influential valiables on the marital satisfacton of employed wives were found in the following oreders; wife's and husband's educationa level job and income. 3. There were a non-significant difference in the life satisfaction of employed wives between living with mothers or not. The purpose of this study is to empirically test some hypotheses derived from the alliance model of the family, which focuses on theorizing situations in which family members simultaneously compete with other members within a family and rivals in society to maximize their statuses in the family and in society. Specifically, associations between wives' level of income relative to that of their husbands and each spouse's satisfaction with family relationships were examined, using the first wave of Korea Welfare Panel Study having been conducted in 2006 by the Korea Institute for Health and Social Affairs. The results of the analyses showed that three ones among four research hypotheses were supported. Wives' satisfaction with family relationships was negatively associated with their relative level of income. This pattern strongly appeared among wives from lower class families rather than among wives from middle/upper class families. Relationship between wives' relative level of income and husbands' satisfaction with family relationships was likely to be bi-directional among husbands from middle/upper class families. Unlike the author's expectation, however, this bi-directional relationship was not observed among husbands from lower class families.
