  • The purpose of this study is to examine the change of inner roads responding to the street system and to examine the how to influence to communal space of village focused on 22 existing old settlements in downtown Cheong Ju. This study examined the types of inner roads based on advanced research. For the research on communal space, interviews with the residents living in the village were conducted to figure out the location and function of it. Also, it was analyzed comparatively with the present communal space. The results are as followings: the width of an inner road has a effect to function of an inner road when flow of an inner road has kept. The function of inner road has been kept when the width of an inner road expanded as pedestrians should be given priority to vehicular traffic. However, the function of inner roads has been changed and the community has been separated when the width of inner roads expanded for vehicular. Because the location of the communal space in the village is affected by the change of the inner road, when the inner road is maintained, the location of the communal space is also maintained, but when the inner road is changed, the location of the communal space is also changed. The communal spaces such as public wells and wash spaces have lost and they have been substituted with senior citizen centers or community centers.

  • This paper is concerned about the development system that the bead width's size can be controlled. In order to control the bead width, DC motor driving slide on auto carriage is used. The adjustment of bead width is carried by amplitude and weaving shape is controlled by MCU(Micro Controller Unit). We confirmed the result by tracking experiments.

  • A micro channel heat sink has been studied and optimized for mixed pressure driven and electroosmotic flows through three-dimensional numerical analysis. The effects of ionic concentration represented by zeta potential and Debye thickness are studied with the various steps of externally applied electric potential. Optimization of the micro channel heat sink has been performed considering two design variables related to the micro channel width, depth and fin width. The surrogate-based optimization is performed using a search algorithm taking overall thermal resistance as objective function. The thermal resistance is found to be more sensitive to channel width-to-depth ratio than fin width-to-depth of channel ratio.

  • Generally, it is pointed out that the submerged breakwater with one row can not regulate the long period waves efficiently, because the crown width is very shorter than the wave length of the long period waves. Therefore, the wide crown is needed to raise the controlling efficiency for the long period waves. This study picks up the submerged breakwater with two rows which has smaller construction materials comparing to the one row and discusses the wave controlling function for the long period waves. Judging from the results obtained by using the strict dividing region method, the submerged breakwater with two rows can more regulate the long period waves than one row can, especially, in case that crown width and inner width of its construction come to be wider.

  • This study involves 2 newly built apartment houses which are A with 23 floors as 150 mm slab width and B with 16 floors as 180 mm slab width. The impact was added by tapping and bang machine at the middle floor level of these 2 apartments and the test was arranged in terms of the characteristic of vibration and sound level which transferred to upper or down floors. As a result, impact floor shows the highest value in terms of both sound and vibration level and followed was at down floor of the Impact floor. Also, blocking function for the lightweight and heavyweight floor impact sound level was tested for each room of the apartment A and B including living room, main room, room 1 and 2. As a result, sound blocking function of B apartment was better than that of A and the function was getting worse when the room size is getting smaller.

  • Mainly, Floating Breakwaters (FBs) have been constructed in many coastal regions due to the advantages of the coastal environment and construction cost. In general, the FB becomes fixed or its width broadened because the movement of the FB comes to be large and its the wave control function lower for the long period incident waves. This study discusses the wave control function of two-rowed Fixed Floating Breakwater (FFBs) that have narrower width than that of the one-rowed FFB by using numerical approach. Boundary Element Method (BEM) based on the Green formula and Eigenfunction Expansion Method (EEM) are applied to evaluate the three-dimensional wave transformation near the wave fields of two-rowed FFBs. The validity of the present study is confirmed by comparing it with the results of Ijima et al. (1974) and Yoshida et al. (1992) for the one-rowed Fixed Floating Structure. It is revealed that the wave control function of two-rowed FFBs is more effective than that of the one-rowed FFB.

  • The basin instantaneous unit hydrograph was derived by considering the network geometry and hillslope. The network geometry is quantified in a function, termed the width function, that reflects the distribution of runoff with flow distance from the outlet. The model using the derivation of the basin IUH consists of two components: the routing component of the initial distribution through the network by means of a simplified diffusion approximation and the hillslope component by means of a exponential distribution that is the probability density function of the travel time in the hillslope. The application of this method was tested on four observed flood data of Bocheong stream and Wi stream. The results show that the proposed method can be used for the analysis of the basin IUH.

  • In GMAW processes, bead geometry is a criterion to estimate welding quality. Bead geometry is affected by welding current, arc voltage, welding speed, shielding gas and so on. Thus the welding condition has to be selected carefully. In this paper, an experimental method for the selection of optimal welding condition was proposed in the root pass welding which was done along the GMA V-grooved butt weld joint. This method uses the response surface analysis in which the width and height of back bead were chosen as the quality variables of the weld. The overall desirability function, which is the combined desirability function for the two quality variables, was used as the objective function for getting the optimal welding condition. Through the experiments, the target values of the back bead width and the height were chosen as 4mm and 1mm respectively for the V-grooved butt weld joint. From a series of welding test, it was revealed that a uniform weld bead can be obtained by adopting the optimal welding condition which was determined according to the method proposed.

  • Interrupted creep tests were carried out on the Mod.9Cr-1Mo steel in order to investigate the structural degradation during creep. The ranges of creep stress and temperature were from 71 to 167MPa and 873 to 923k, respectively. The change of hardness and tempered martensitic lath width were measured in the grip and gauge parts of interrupted specimens. The lath structure was thermally stable in static conditions, but was not stable during creep, and the structural evolution was enhanced by creep strain. The relation between the change in lath width and strain was described in the from, $\delta$W= a ($W_s-W_o$)$cdot;varepsilon$, where $\varepsilon$ is the strain, $W_o$is the initial lath width, $W_s$ is the final lath width depending solely on stress, and a is the constant of the magnitude of 0.67 $\mu$m /strain. The change in Victors hardness was expressed by a one-valued function of creep life consumption ratio. Based on the empirical relation between strain and lath width, a model was proposed to explain the relation between change in hardness and creep life consumption ratio. The model revealed that about 65$%$ of dislocations in lath structures were eliminated by the migration of subboundaries.

  • Geochemical studies on gold-bearing quartz veins and granitic wallrocks from the Mugeug mine were carried out in order to investigate primary dispersion patterns of elements and to quantify primary dispersion widths of elements with distance from the gold-bearing quartz veins. The best fitting model of dispersion pattern in altered wallrock around the gold-bearing quartz veins is an exponential function for Au, As, Sb, $Na_2O$ and Sr, and a quadratic function for CaO, $K_2O$, MnO, Ba, Rb and Cs. The primary dispersion widths are 15~343 cm in the hanging wall, and 33~173 cm in the footwall. The width of primary dispersion in the hanging wall is twice as thick as that in the footwall mainly due to the thermal effect and volatile components. The primary dispersion width is increased as the increase of gold-bearing quartz vein width and contents of As and Sb in gold-bearing quartz veins, but is not related to Au content in gold-bearing quartz veins.
