  • Najang was the central Seori, affiliated to the Ministry of War during the Joseon dynasty. The objective of this study is to research the existing authentic Najang costumes from the late-Joseon dynasty by examining factors, such as the composition of the costume, size, and method of creation, and attempt to replicate it. The Leipzig Grassi Museum in Germany possesses an official uniform of Najang from the late-Joseon dynasty, and we visited the museum in May of 2013 to examine it for the study. Written records, or Uigwe, and other pictorial data from the Joseon Dynastry describe the Najang wearing black or navy clothing with white decoration and pointy hats. The most notable characteristic of the Najang uniform is that it has the cotton cords pattern. The hat has a brass ball attached, which was worn with the ball facing the front in the early Joseon Dynasty, and was worn facing the back in the later years. They usually wore black head cloths (Heuk-geon), but would attach feathers on the black hats (Heuk-rip) for special occasions. The Najang uniform preserved in the Leipsiz Grassi Muesim does not exist in Korea. It is made of cotton. The cotton cord pattern of the uniform of Najang was made using single-ply cords and double-ply cords. The hat worn by Najang is in a form of a cone that becomes narrower towards the top or is in a form with wide and open end. It was made of oiled paper covered with hemp, and two circular metal disks were attatched at the rear.

  • This paper presents a method for the simultaneous optimal design of structural and control systems. Sensitivities of performance index with respect to structural design variables are analyzed. The structural design variables are optimized to minimize the performance index by use of conjugate gradient method. The method is applied to a half model of an active vehicle suspension system with elastic body moving on a randomly profiled road. The suspension control force of an optimally controlled system in the presence of measurement errors are calculated by use of linear quadratic Gaussian control theory and Kalman filter theory. The performance index contains ride comfort, road holding and working space of suspension. The structural design variables taken are stiffness, daming properties and the position of the suspension system. The random road profile considered as colored noise is shaped from white noise by use of shaping filter. The performance of an optimal simultaneous structure/control system is compared with that of an optimal controlled system.

  • To approximate the threshold of the fault detection and diagnosis (FDD) system, validation of the measurements is mandatory. Naturally, the system shows uncertainties due to measuring sensors - mostly thermocouples or RTDs - and due to repeatability. The uncertainty of a thermocouple comes from natural variation or a drift of the thermocouple measurement. Considering the natural variation behaves like zero-mean white noise, its natural variation can be characterized closely by the steady-state standard deviation. However, residuals between measurements and no-fault references in FDD systems show a statistical distribution with various uncertainties. In this paper, steady-state variations of measurement residuals were investigated by utilizing built-in temperature sensors in a heat pump for the model development and the final application.

  • Rotation period is one of the most important derived management goals in steering the production in even aged stands. This paper describes specially the determination of the optimal rotation period using the normal forest model, which is usually derived from optimization studies. In order to draw more near the real forest situation the target forest model was introduced. The target forest model by including production risks is more realistic in forest production than the normal forest model. The optimal rotation period was determined using the target forest model. And the optimal rotation period derived with the normal forest model and the target forest model were compared each other. These model calculations were carried out with data, which was investigated in korean pine stands in experiment forest of College of Forestry in Kangweon National University.

  • OLED has good efficiency of power consumption by having no power consumption from black color as different with LCD. when it has white color, all RGB pixel should be glowing with high power consumption and that can make it has short life time. This paper suggest the way of low power consumption for OLED panel using adaptive luminance enhancement with color compensation and implement it as hardware. This way which is based on luminance information of input image makes converted luminance value from each pixel in real time. There is with using the basic idea of chromaticity reduction algorithm, showing new algorithm of color correction. And performance of proposed method was confirmed by comparing the conventional method in experiments about 48.43% current reduction. The proposed method was designed by Verilog HDL and was verified by using OpenCV and Windows Program.

  • Recently, new technologies based on wireless LAN is being studied because utilization on smart phone using Wi-Fi is increased. 802.11 b/g/a is universalized wireless LAN technologies based on ISM, the standard developed in 11's working group of IEEE 802. standardization about IEEE 802.11ac that overcame limitation on Blue-ray of IEEE 802.11n or uncompressed video transmission and IEEE 802.af's technologies using TVWS is being actively studied. In this paper, ability of transmission considering the security on AP operated by these technologies have measured and done a comparative analysis with existing wireless LAN environment ability of transmission measured when appling security is more stable than existing ability of transmission in an environment with obstacles and shorten of transmission time is confirmed as a result of analysis.

  • In this paper, we propose the regions segmentation method of the white matter and the gray matter for brain MR image by using the ant colony optimization algorithm. Ant Colony Optimization (ACO) is a new meta heuristics algorithm to solve hard combinatorial optimization problem. This algorithm finds the expected pixel for image as the real ant finds the food from nest to food source. Then ants deposit pheromone on the pixels, and the pheromone will affect the motion of next ants. At each iteration step, ants will change their positions in the image according to the transition rule. Finally, we can obtain the segmentation results through analyzing the pheromone distribution in the image. We compared the proposed method with other threshold methods, viz. the Otsu' method, the genetic algorithm, the fuzzy method, and the original ant colony optimization algorithm. From comparison results, the proposed method is more exact than other threshold methods for the segmentation of specific region structures in MR brain image.

  • In this paper, we derived a closed-form equation of a Best Linear Unbiased Estimator (BLUE) estimator for the 3 dimensional estimation of the position of the emitter based on the Time Difference of Arrival (TDOA) technique. The BLUE derived for the case of estimating 3 dimensional position of the emitter with 4 base stations or sensors, and for this purpose, we used an approximated equation of the TDOA hyperbola equation obtained from the first order Taylor-series after setting the reference points of the position. The derived equation can be used for any kind of noises which are uncorrelated in each other in the TOA measurement noises and for a white Gaussian noise also.

  • Since the country's opening to the world, China's rapid economic growth has resulted in strong demand for a wide variety of mineral commodities. During the same period, China's mineral production increased sharply. China's increased mineral production and demand affected the worldwide availability of minerals and metals, the market prices, and trade. Ministry of Land and Resources of China (MLR) planned to build as many as 10 strategic mineral reserve, including reserves of aluminium, copper, manganese, uranium, and other mineral that the country urgently needed. In white paper of China's mineral resources, China is planning the mineral resources conservation and its reasonable utilization, domestic supply increase of resources, activation of cooperative development with foreign partners, balance in resources development and environment conservation, and sustainable resources management as the mineral resources policies for the China's economic development.
