  • An 3-year-old female Thoroughbred horse was referred with moderate lameness (3/5G) and mild heat on right hoof of forelimb. She was diagnosed with white line disease (WLD) that was included hoof wall separation by radiographic examination and hoof percussion. Treatment was carried out hoof wall resection at first, followed by disinfection of affected hoof and shod modified heart bar. On the re-examination after 4 months, we could find a results which had no lameness, gas pocket in the white line and clinical signs was improved. Subsequently, she was trained and raced after 8 months of diagnosis. So, we supposed that resection of wall and therapeutic shoeing was good for WLD including hoof separation.

  • We are interested in random phenomena that will vary as time goes by, being interfered with by fluctuation. These phenomena are often expressed as functionals of white noise. We therefore discuss the analysis of those functionals, where the white noise is understood as a system of idealized elementary random variables. The system is, in many cases, taken to be the innovation of the given random phenomena. The use of the innovation provides a powerful tool to investigate stochastic processes and random fields in line with white noise analysis.

  • The objective of this study was to compare the two different eggshell lines of commercial layers on egg traits and egg production rate. Hy-line W-98 (white shell line; WSL) and Hy-line Brown (brown shell line; BSL) were used as experimental stocks. The birds in each line were allocated to three floor pens each containing 25-birds. They were fed a ration containing 15.5% CP and 2,700 ㎉/kg ME, and were supplied 16 h of light per day throughout the experimental Periods. The egg traits and egg Production rate were measured from 53 to 56-wk-old and 20 to 56-wk-old, respectively. The mean egg weight and the mean percentage albumen were significantly heavier and higher (P<0.05) in the BSL than in the WSL, respectively. The mean eggshell thickness and the mean percentage shell were also significantly thicker and higher (P<0.05) in the BSL than those in the WSL, respectively. However, the mean percentage yolk and the yolk to albumen ratio showed a reverse trend as shown in the mean percentage albumen or percentage eggshell. Although the WSL birds started laying 4 d earlier than the BSL ones, the overall mean egg Production rate for BSL during 20 to 56 wk of age was significantly higher (P<0.05) by 6.6% than the WSL. It was concluded that the eggs of brown eggshell line had heavier egg weight and thicker shell, and they had more percentage of albumen, but less percentage of yolk than those of the white eggshell line. These results suggest that the brown eggshell line raised on the floor might be more beneficial than the white eggshell line not only for the preference of the table egg consumers, but also for the efficient production of the eggs.

  • In this paper, we propose the modified display color control system using white point line, boundary lines and S-shaped curves to emphasize blue and red tone colors on CIE1931 diagram. The proposed system divides RGB gamut into movable area and non-movable area by using boundary lines. The colors in movable area are moved into right side or left side along quadratic curve to change the bluish (or reddish) color to more bluish (or more reddish), while those in non-movable area are excepted from color control to prevent skin color from changing. The loci of the quadratic curves are very similar to the arc of the white-point line which connects all points that represent the chromaticities of a black body radiator at different temperatures and is also called the black body locus. The RGB gamut extension by movement of chromaticity coordinate can improve color reproducibility. Therefore in the case of application to LCD, the display shows excellent performance because the LCD's color reproducibility is comparatively lower than that of other display systems. The proposed system is also experimentally demonstrated with Xilinx Virtex FPGA XCV2000E- 6BG560 and the TV set.

  • A new Cymbidium cultivar 'White Princess' was released by the National Horticultural Research Institute (NHRI) in 2005. A cross was made in 1995 between 'Cymbidium 2113', light purple colored petal and medium plant sized variety, and 'Lucky Rainbow Randevous', a dark purple petal with red lip and large type variety. The ninety progenies were obtained after planting and acclimatization in green house. In 2000, a line (9526747) was selected and multipliticed after test of its flower color, leaf shape, flower stalk, and vigorous growing habit. After evaluation trial for two growing seasons, the selected line was named as 'White Princess'. The 'White Princess' has white petals (WN 155A) with red lip (RP59D) color and large sized leaves, and flowers (leaf length is about 88 cm and flower diameter is about 8 cm) with semi-erect flower stalks. Blooming started from December to January in optimal culture conditions. High temperature (more than $30^{\circ}C$) and low light intensity(less than 10,000Lux) should be avoided for the appropriate growth.

  • Sword bean belongs to the subgenus Canavalia in the genus Canavalia. White and reddish varieties in sword bean were tested to obtain the basic information for improving the yield, quality, and cultural environments through the quantitative growth analysis. Growing plants were sampled at intervals of 10 days from 20 days after sowing. Whole plant weight increased during the period of 11-20 days after sowing in both varieties. The weight of each organ between two varieties increased similarly except leaf area. Whole plant weight changed more close to pod weight than any other characters. The leaf areas of both varieties increased from 50 days after sowing, var. white displayed S type curved line but var. reddish displayed slow S type curved line. The SGR of whole plant weight in both varieties had 3 maxima and 2 minima, 3 maxima and first minimum were shown at the same period but the second minimum was shown at different period. Both varieties showed bimodal curved line. All SGR of each organ and leaf area were shown the 2 maxima and 1 minimum in both varieties. The changes of SLA and LAR were not remarkable between two varieties but these were united together with the maximum of whole plant weight and root weight. ULWR and ULWR were shown similar in both varieties. Reddish variety was more prosperous in early growth stage than white variety because SLA, LAR and LWR were high. In surplus weight, both varieties increased rapidly during the period of 111-120 days after sowing that was applicable to the maximum SGR of pod weight. Surplus weight of var. white increased markedly during the same period comparing those of var. reddish.

  • This study was conducted to compare the quality of Chuncheon Dakgalbi made with meat from three chicken breeds. Ross male broilers, Hy-Line Brown male chicks and White Mini male broilers were raised for 18 d, 49 d and 35 d, respectively, and slaughtered. The thigh meat from carcasses on each breed were used for this experimented. The fat content was higher in White Mini broiler meat than Ross broiler and HY-LINE BROWn chick meat (P<0.05). No differences were observed in aroma patterns of raw meat and Chuncheon Dakgalbi between all breeds. The Chuncheon Dakgalbi made with White mini broiler meat had higher color stability and lipid oxidation stability and showed higher sensory scores such as visual color and overall acceptability. Therefore, the Chuncheon Dakgalbi made with White Mini broiler meat showed the best quality among the three chicken breeds.

  • The present study was conducted to compare the carcass yields and meat characteristics of three types of commercial male chicks White mini broilers, Ross broilers and Hy-Line brown chicks under the identical feeding condition. One-hundred 1-d chicks of each type were randomly placed into four pens per group (25 chicks per pen) and fed corn-soybean meal based commercial diets for 35d, 18d or 49d, respectively. At the end of the feeding trial, the birds were sacrificed and subjected to carcass measurements. The dressing percentages of White mini broilers and Ross broilers were significantly higher (P<0.05) than that of Hy-Line brown cockerels. The rate of breast meat of Hy-Line brown cockerels was significantly lower (P<0.05) than those of White mini broilers and Ross broilers. However, Hy-Line brown cockerels showed higher (P<0.05) leg meats than the others. There were no significant differences in serum total cholesterol and the activities of glutamic-oxaloacetic transaminase and glutamic-pyruvic transaminase among the groups. The breast meats of White mini broilers presented highest lightness value. The yellowness of breast and redness of leg meats of White mini broilers and Ross broilers were significantly higher (P<0.05) than those of Hy-Line brown cockerels. There were no significant differences in the SOD-like activity and change of pH in edible meats among the groups. The meat color in White mini broilers was significantly higher than that of Hy-Line brown cockerels. No significant differences were observed in term of flavor, tenderness and overall acceptability. In conclusion, the physico-chemical properties and sensory characteristics of edible meats were not greatly affected by genotype if they were similar body weights and kept under the identical feeding condition. But the Hy-Line brown cockerels were less desirable as a meat-type strain due to lower carcass yields and inferior growth and feed conversion ratio.
