  • Despite the increasing importance that companies currently place on employee wellness, few studies have explored the impact of wellness on individual and team performance in the workplace. Drawing on the broaden-and-build theory, we hypothesize that wellness intention, wellness leadership, and wellness climate influence the performance of both individuals and teams. We tested our hypotheses using data collected from 495 employees of 81 teams in 11 Korean companies. Our analysis indicates that wellness leadership and wellness climate are meaningful interventions between perceived wellness and performance. Wellness intention did not impact perceived wellness. However, the interaction between wellness intention and wellness leadership impacted perceived wellness. Wellness climate negatively moderated the relationship between perceived wellness and performance.

  • Wearable Technology is going to be the biggest buzzword and the next generation of digital revolution in the near future. Wearables have changed the focus of the healthcare industry to prevention programs in order to encourage individuals to be more active and to take the responsibility of their own health. Although, the intention of consumers to use wellness wearables has been growing rapidly, the number of individuals who refuses continued use of such devices increases day-by-day. Diffusion and innovation of new technology could be more efficiently gained by consumer's adoption. So, it is extremely important for providers and designers to understand the impact of positive and negative factors on consumers' intention to use wellness wearables. Moreover, a unified framework is required for better understanding of individuals' behavioral intention for using wellness wearables. Thus, the goal of this study is to identify the potential factors that influence consumers' willingness to use wellness wearables as well as proposing a unified framework based on Unified Theory of Acceptance and Use of Technology 2 (UTAUT2) and Value-based Adoption Model (VAM) with two extra factors, perceived trust and perceived health increase. The findings of this article improves the theoretical understanding of the engaged factors in the proposed research model of the study.

  • The purpose of this study was to examine the potential predictors of leisure behavior intention using the theory of planned behavior(TPB). A convenience sample of 369 participants was obtained from university students in Korea and America. For the purposes of this study, potential predictors of leisure behavior intention were selected from the following categories: attitude, subject norm, perceived behavior control, group conformity and face saving. In order to better understand the dynamics of the TPB process that influenced leisure behavior intention, this study used structural equation modeling(SEM) to test the TPB model. According to the results, attitude, subject norm, and perceived behavior control influenced to leisure behavior intention of both Korean and American university students and face saving influenced to leisure behavior intention of Korean university students. However, group conformity did not influence to leisure behavior intention of either Korean and American university students. For future study, more specific and decomposed factors are recommended to understand leisure behavior intention in theoretical way.

  • This study aims to analyze the premium hamburger market, which has recently become popular, the effect of the importance of the customer selection attribute of premium hamburgers on customer satisfaction, and the effect of customer satisfaction on repurchase intention. Existing research has focused on the importance of the selection attributes of premium hamburgers. Quality, convenience, experience, and presentation visuals were selected as customer selection attributes. This study analyzed 158 customers who had purchased and tasted premium hamburgers. To verify reliability and validity, a confirmatory factor analysis and discriminant validity analysis were performed, and a path analysis was carried out using structural equation modeling. The results showed that the quality, convenience, experience, and presentation visuals of premium hamburgers had a statistically significant effect on satisfaction. Moreover, satisfaction was verified to have a significant effect on repurchase intention. Customers' preference for premium burgers will continue to increase, thanks to the growth in national income, single-person families, and healthy food wellness. It was empirically proven that the selection attributes of premium burgers have a statistically significant effect on customer satisfaction and that satisfaction significantly affects repurchase intention. This study broadens the research horizon and has practical implications.

  • In order to verify the factors affecting the acceptance of Serious Games for Healthcare (SGHs), this study developed a hierarchical model of general and specific benefit and risk factors affecting the intention to use SGHs based on the valence framework. As a result based on 199 samples, it was revealed that perceived customization and perceived schedule flexibility had a positive effect on the perceived benefits, which, in turn, had a positive effect on the intention to use SGHs. However, among the specific risk factors, only privacy risk had a positive effect on perceived risk, but it did not have a effect on SGHs usage intention. The results related to the fact that the survey respondents were potential users of SGHs and the bias that may overestimate the benefits provided by SGHs called optimistic bias. Based on these findings, some implications were presented such as the spread and distribution of SGHs to the ordinary persons, improvement of negative perceptions of games, and the need for data-based services to refine customized services for SGHs.
