휴경논에서의 수질관리 연구 (A Study on the Water Quality Management in Fallow Paddy Fields)

  • Fallow paddy areas have been increased due to the import of cheap agricultural product, and the unbalance between farming cost and rice price since 1990. The increasing fallow paddy area needs to be protected from the devastation by weed breeding for the re-cultivation. In this study, two fallow paddy fields managed with different water depth were selected for monitoring and analysing of water quality, water balance and plant body change. The managed fallow paddy fields were more effective in water quality purification and plants growth control than non-managed fallow paddy fields. And the fallow paddy field managed with some degree of water depth was the most effective field in terms of weed control.

  • Fallow paddy has been increased in disadvantageous farming condition area because of importation of foreign agricultural products, labor cost and the imbalance between farming cost and agricultural products price since 1990. The fallow paddy that has gradually increased needs to be prevented from the devastation by weed breeding for re-cultivation. In this study, two fallow paddies that manage with different water depth from the experimental field were selected for observation, and analysis of water quality, water balance and plant body change. The managed fallow paddy was more effective in water quality purification and plants growth control than non-managed fallow paddy. Natural Photodynamic Activity of 5-Aminolevulinic Acid Produced by E. coli Overexpressing ALA Synthase from Bradyrhizobium japonicum

  • The present study was conducted to determine plant growth and physiological responses of corn, barnyardgrass, and soybean to ALA (5-aminolevulinic acid). ALA effect on early seedling growth of test plants was greatly concentration dependant, suggesting that it inhibits at higher concentrations. No significant difference in herbicidal activity of two types of ALA on plant height and weight of test plants was observed. Barnyardgrass was the most sensitive to ALA and followed by corn and soybean, indicating that both crop plants were less affected by ALA concentration as well as different growth stages than barnyardgrass. Greatly reduced chlorophyll contents from leaves of three plant species were observed with increasing of ALA concentration. Compared with untreated controls, higher amounts of three tetrapyrroles were detected from three crop plants, indicating more accumulation in ALA-treated plants. The differential selectivity among plant species would be explained with the differences in tetrapyrrole accumulating capabilities, the susceptibility of various greening groups of plant species to the accumulation of various tetrapyrroles, and their metabolism in various plant tissues. The results indicate that negative biological potential of ALA exhibited differently on plant species, and that the photodynamic herbicidal activity against susceptible plants highly correlated with the extent of tetrapyrrole accumulation by the species.

수도(水稻)와 너도방동사니에서 Bensulfuron의 흡수(吸收), 이행(移行) 및 대사(代謝) (Absorption, Translocation and Metabolism of Bensulfuron in Rice and Cyperus serotinus Rottb.)

  • 수도(水稻)와 너도방동사니간의 Bensulfuron 선택성(選擇性) 기작(機作)을 밝히고자 $^{14}C$-bensulfuron을 공시(供試)하여 식물체(植物體)간 Bensulfuron의 흡수(吸收), 移行(이행) 및 대사(代謝)를 연구(硏究)하였다. 1. Bensulfuron 흡수량(吸收量)은 줄기보다 뿌리에서 월등히 많았으며 너도방동사니보다 수도(水稻)에서 현저하게 높았다. 2. 뿌리로 부터 줄기로의 Bensulfuron 이행속도(移行速度)는 수도(水稻)보다 너도방동사니에서 빨랐으며 이행량(移行量)도 많았다. 3. Bensulfuron의 대사속도(代謝速度)는 수도(水稻)에서는 현저하게 빨랐으나 너도방동사니에서는 매우 느린 경향이었다. 4. 따라서 수도(水稻)의 내성(耐性)은 빠른 대사속도(代謝速度)에 주로 기인(基因)하며 부분적으로 느린 이행속도(移行速度)와도 관련이 있으며 너도방동사니의 감수성(感受性)은 느린 대사속도(代謝速度)와 빠른 이행속도(移行速度)와 관련이 있을 것으로 사료(思料)되었다.

Evaluating Pre-silicon Treatment to Alleviate Drought Stress and Increases Antioxidative Activity in Zoysia japonica

  • This study was performed to determine the effects of silicon on zoysiagrass after the application of drought stress. The daily amount of water or scilicon solution was 150 ml per a pot. For 14 days, plants were treated with 0.1 and 1.0 mM silicon (Si) and with distilled water for control and the drought only-treatment. Afterward, the plants in Si and drought treatment were exposed to a 21-day under drought stress condition but the plants in control received water. The results indicated that the growth and the moisture and chlorophyll contents decreased in the drought only-treatment and 0.1 mM Si compared to the control. However, 1.0 mM Si showed an increase in the growth with a significant increase of water and chlorophyll contents. The MDA and $H_2O_2$ concentrations and electrolyte leakage decreased, while the radical scavenging capacity increased in 1.0 mM Si. 1.0 mM Si showed little to no differences in the growth and no differences in water and chlorophyll contents, electrolyte leakage, MDA and $H_2O_2$ concentrations and antioxidant capacity compared to the control. These results suggested that application of silicon is useful for drought tolerance improvement of zoysiagrass under drought that is occurring in turf fields.

Glufosinate-ammonium 저항성 형질전환벼의 저항성 수준과 적응성에 관한 연구 (Levels of Resistance and Fitness in Glufosinate-ammonium-Resistant Transgenic Rice Plants)

  • 본 연구의 목적은 bar 유전자를 발현한 형질전환벼에 대한 글루타민 합성효소 저해제인 glufosinate-ammonium, L-metionine sulfoximine과 광합성저해제인 paraquat에 저항성 수준과 형질전환벼와 비형질전환벼의 암모늄 축적량, 저온반응 및 수량을 비교하는데 있다. 형질전환벼 계통은 비형질전환벼에 비해 glufosinate-ammonium에 45~95배 높은 저항성을 보였다. 한편 형질전환벼 계통은 L-metionine sulfoximine을 처리했을 때도 형질전환벼 계통이 비형질전환벼에 비해 18배 이상의 저항성을 보여 교차저항성이 있음을 확인할 수 있었다. 그러나 glufosinate-ammonium과 작용기작이 다른 제초제인 paraquat에 대한 다중저항성은 없었다. Glufosinate-ammonium 처리에 의해 ammonium 축적은 비형질전환벼에서 증가하였으나 모든 형질전환벼의 계통에서는 적거나 효과가 없었다. 형질전환벼 계통 258, 411, 607 및 608을 제외한 계통은 비형질전환벼에 비해 저온 내성 및 저온 후 회복정도가 유의적으로 낮은 경향을 보였다. 형질전환벼 계통 142, 144, 258 및 608의 수량은 비형질전환벼와 유사하거나 높았다.

벼 건답직파답(乾畓直播畓)에서 사마귀풀 발생양상(發生樣相)과 방제체계(方劑體系) (Occurrence and Control System of Aneilema japonica in Dry Seeded Rice)

  • 건답직파답(乾畓直播畓)에서 중요 우점초종(優點草種)인 피를 전년도에 방제시(防除時) 다음해 잡초발생(雜草發生) 생태변화(生態變化)와 직파답(直播畓)에 발생이 증가(增加)되고 있는 사마귀풀의 효과적(效果的)인 방제연구(防除硏究)를 위해 수행(遂行)한 시험결과(試驗結果)를 요약(要約)하면 다음과 같다. 1. 전년도 출수전(出穗前) 피를 완전히 방제(防除)한 구는 무방제구에 비하여 총(總) 잡초발생량(雜草發生量)은 파종후(播種後) 30일에 47.7%, 파종후(播種後) 60일에 7.8%가 감소(減少)하였다. 초종별(草種別)로는 파종후(播種後) 60일에 피는 46.9% 감소(減少)하였으나 사마귀풀, 여뀌는 각각 231%, 11.8% 증가(增加)하였다. 2. 군락내(群落內) 발생초종의 다양성(多樣性) 정도를 나타내는 다양성(多樣性) 계수(係數)는 방제구에서 낮았으며 방제구에서는 피의 우점도(優點度)가 떨어진 반면 특히 사마귀풀의 우점도(優點度)가 높아졌다. 3. 사마귀풀은 대체로 파종후(播種後) 40일 전후부터 벼 생육(生育)에 영향을 주었고, 사마귀풀 $m^2$당 300본 및 700본 구는 무발생구(손제초구)대비 수수가 61-72% 적고 등숙비율(登熟比率)이 5-15% 떨어져 쌀 수량(收量)이 74-93% 감수(減收)되었다. 4. 수량성과 다른 잡초방제효과(雜草防除效果)를 고려한 사마귀풀의 효과적(效果的)인 방제방법(防除方法)은 Butachlor(파종후(播種後) 5일)와 Propanil/Molinate(파종후(播種後) 25일)를 체계처리(體系處理)와 파종후(播種後) 20일 Lgc 40863 + Pendimethalin의 일발처리(一發處理) 하는 것이 효과적(效果的)이라는 결과(結果)를 얻었다.

여름철 휴경조건에서 잡초의 발생과 몇 가지 두과식물의 녹비로서의 이용성에 대한 비교 (Comparison of Weed Occurrence and Growth of Some Leguminous Plants for Green Manure Cover Crop During Summer Fallow)

  • 본 실험은 강원도 영서지역에서 맥류 수확 후 가을채소 파종까지 휴경을 하게 될 경우의 여름 휴경지 관리방안으로 가을채소용 두과녹비작물의 도입에 필요한 기초 자료를 얻기 위하여 수행되었으며, 그 결과는 다음과 같았다. 1. 여름철 휴경을 할 경우 주요 잡초는 바랭이, 방동사니, 쇠비름 그리고 털비름 등 비두과 식물로, 자연적인 두과식물의 출현은 없었다. 2. 두과식물을 6월 중순 로타리 경운 후 파종할 경우 동부와 예팥은 출현율이 높았으나, 돌콩과 헤어리벳치는 출현율이 낮았으며, 동계일년생 두과녹비작물인 헤어리벳치는 하계잡초와의 경합에서 도태되는 경향이었다. 3. 만성형식물인 동부는 잡초의 생육을 가장 크게 억제하였으며, 만성 예팥이나 돌콩, 그리고 헤어리벳치보다 생육량이 많았다. 따라서 우리나라 기상조건에서 여름철 휴경을 할 경우 두과식물의 인위적인 파종이 필요하며, 동부는 여름철 휴경지의 녹비작물로서의 이용 가치가 높은 것으로 판단되었다.

Weeding Efficacy of Sulfonylurea Resistance Weed, Monochoria (Monochoria vaginalis) with Brown Leaf Blight Caused by BWC01-54

  • A summer annual weed of monochoria (Monochoria vaginalis) grows in the edges of rice paddies, ditches, and moist upland throughout Korea. It is very difficult to control with herbicide because of its sulfonylurea resistance. It is very competitive with fast growing pattern, that can cause reducing yields of rice. Brown leaf blight of monochoria (Monochoria vaginalis) occurred naturally in rice paddy, is first reported in Korea. The fungal isolate BWC01-54 was successfully isolated from the diseased leaves of monochoria. The fungus BWC 01-54 was grown well at $25-28^{\circ}C$, conidia of the greysh black brown mycelia were abundant produced on PDA at 15 days. The fungus was grown well in potato dextrose broth at $28^{\circ}C$ and fully grown within 10 days in 250 ml of flask. In host and pathogenicity test, conidia suspension of BWC01-54 was the most effective to control of monochoria compare to others isolates. Typical symptoms having pin point brown lesions were formed on stem and leaf and which severely affected the whole plants ware blighted within two weeks, respectively. Under paddies field condition, conidial suspension of the fungus BWC01-54 gave around 90% control. Therefore, we conclude that the fungus may have a potential as a biological control agent against sulfonylurea resistance weed in rice paddy.

강화약쑥 추출물이 종자발아 및 유식물 생장에 미치는 알레로파시 효과 (Allelopathic Effect of Ganghwa mugwort (Artemisia spp.) on Seed Germination and Seedling Growth of Plants)

  • This study was conducted to identify allelopathic effect of Ganghwa domestic Artemisia spp., named Sajabalssuk and Ssajuarissuk, for various receptor plants including clover (Trifolium repens L.), alfalfa (Medicago sativa L.), lawn grass (Zoysia japonica Steud.), dandelion (Taraxacum platycarpum Dahlst.), and dahurianpatrinia (Patrinia scabiosaefolia Fisch. ex Trevir). Receptor plants were treated with the aqueous and essential oil extract of Artemisia plants. In consequence, their allelopathic effects were evaluated by measuring seed germination rates, seedling growth, and dry weights of the receptor plants. The seed germination and seedling growth of the receptor plants were inhibited by all treatments of both aqueous and essential oil extracts of the Artemisia plants, and, in addition, the inhibitory effects were increased according to the higher concentration. Among the donor plants, A. $sp.^*III$ showed most effective allelopathic effect. Comparing the alleopathic effect among the receptor plants, seed germination was most inhibited in lawn grass while inhibitory effect of seedling growth was comparatively higher in dandelion. Although inhibitory effects were comparatively lower, the allelopathic effects of Artemisia plants were identified in clover and alfalfa since the seedling growth of these plants were inhibited more than 70%. Thus, in result, Ganghwa domestic Artemisia spp. could be possibly used for weed control since natural products of the plants showed inhibitory effects on seed germination and seedling growth of various receptor plants.
