Therefore, wedding behavior, selection criteria for wedding dresses, and favored image by segmented groups targeting 20's to 30's Chinese women were studied to help the Korean wedding dress industry to establish their business in China. The survey was conducted in Shanghai city and three neighboring cities-Wuxi, Zhengziang, and Hangzhou-, and the primary data were analyzed using the SPSS program. As results, Chinese women thought that the wedding ceremony should be elegant and dignified, and they wanted to choose their favorite style rather than a recommended style. The criteria of selection were classified into four factors. Overall image and well fitting with their face and body were the most important factors in the selection of wedding dress. The most favored image was unique/novel image. Several favored images for their wedding dress were significantly different by occasion (ceremony day and photo shoot day) and education level. People of higher education level preferred more luxurious and classic image during the ceremony, and a classic and gorgeous image on the photo shoot day. A white dress and a colored dress for weddings were favored more than the Chinese traditional dress on both occasions. There was also a significant difference between general consumers and the wedding business employees in the quantity of wanted wedding dress.

  • Most of the wedding shops in the domestic market are more focusing on simply copying the designs of foreign wedding dress designers than making their own designs. Beyond the purpose of how to improve the wedding dress designs which is what other previous studies were aiming, this study goes deeper than that, concentrating on separate designing of dress for a wedding celebration and a rehearsal with photo shoots. Add to this, the study also differentiates itself from others in the past, investigating how to make a gown that hides a bride's physical shortcomings. For this study, the researcher studied the literature in terms of theoretical review, and conducted the empirical research through the photo analysis of 2,725 wedding dresses which brides really wore according to domestic brides' body shapes, their images, and situations. The researcher designed 8 wedding dresses for wedding ceremony and rehearsal shooting for brides with thick arms or wide shoulder under the concept of 'Romantic Story in Your Heart'. The wedding dress's image types for photo analysis were limited to the romantic type, the elegance type, the modern type, and the classic type. The researcher applied the empire-silhouette, the one-shoulder neckline, the raglan sleeves, the cap sleeves, and the shoulder accessories to the wedding dress designs judged as effectively making up defects in body shape and making nice images as well as other design factors seen from the analysis result.

  • The purpose of this study was to compare the appearance similarity between a 3D virtual wedding dress, and a model wearing real dress, and production efficiency, and the possibility of achieving similar results with 3D digital technology. Five wedding dresses for small weddings under the theme of 'Dream Series', were designed and produced in virtual and real dresses to quantitatively compare and analyze the appearance similarity and production efficiency. Experts compared the appearance similarity on the silhouettes, colors, materials, and details, and production efficiency was compared with time and cost. Based on our results, 3D virtual images of four out of the five dresses were similar to the real images. Our efficiency evaluation results showed that the manufacturing time was 45.4% shorter, and the manufacturing cost was 46.1% less than the existing method. This indicated that the wedding dress manufacturing process using 3D virtual software was time and cost saving competitive. Our results also confirmed that 3D virtual software technology has the potential to increase the efficiency of designing and production, and therefore an increase in competitiveness and sales of wedding dresses. Furthermore, 3D technology allows consumers to select and order wedding dresses online through 3D virtual software. This is a great advantage, and it highlights the significance of this research study.

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate the effect of generation on consciousness toward wedding ritual and to compare the difference in their consciousness between the young and the old. Data were obtained from 489 individuals living in Seoul. OLS regression analysis was used to identify the effect of generation on consciousness toward wedding ritual. The effect of generation was significant in the consciousness of wedding procedures, while it was not significant in the consciousness of wedding expenditures, holding other factors constant. [t was also found that procedure-important style was associated with more expenditures on wedding. The findings of this study suggested that the materialism had an important effect on the consciousness of wedding procedures for both generations. Understanding these factors is useful for family resource management professionals and educators who develop educational programs to build desirable wedding culture in Korea.
