The method of recent information retrieval passes into an semantic search to provide more accurate results than keyword-based search. But in common user case, they are still accustomed to using existing keyword-based search. Hence they are hard to create a typed structured query language. In this paper, we propose to ontology knowledge-base scheme for query interpretation of these user. The proposed scheme was designed based on the OWL-DL for description logic reasoning, it can provide a richer representation of the relationship between the object by using SWRL(Semantic Web Rule Language). Finally, we are describe the experimental results of the similarity measurement for verification of a user query semantic interpretation.
Currently, developed technologies for semantic web services discovery are based on ontologies. These ontologies are DAML-S(DARPA Agent Markup Language for Services) and Process Handbook Project of MIT. These technologies have some problems for intelligent web services discovery. So, in this paper we analyzed those ontologies and proposed TM-S, Topic Maps for Services. TM-S is the presentation model for semantic web services. And TM-S includes benefits and complements weaknesses of those ontologies. And we proposed TMS-QL, TM-S Query Language. TMS-QL is query language for intelligent web services discovery. At last, we designed and implemented intelligent web service discovery system that deals TM-S ontology and TMS-QL
W3C has selected OWL as a standard for Web ontology description and a necessity of research on storage models that can store OWL ontologies effectively has been issued. Until now, relational model-based storage systems such as Jena, Sesame, and DLDB, have been developed, but there still remain several issues. Especially, they lead inefficient query processing performance. The structural problems of their low query processing performance are as follow: Jena has a simple structure which is not normalized and also stores most information in a single table. It exponentially decreases the performance because of comparison with unnecessary information for processing queries requiring join operations as well as simple search. The structures of storages(e.g., Sesame) have been completely normalized. Therefore it executes many join operations for query processing. The storages require many join operations to find simply a specific class. This paper proposes a storage model to resolve the problems that the query processing performance is decreased because of non-normalization or complete normalization of the existing storages. To achieve this goal, we analyze the problems of existing storage models as well as relations of OWL elements and query patterns. The proposed model, defined with the analysis results, provides an optimal normalized structure to minimize join operations or unnecessary information comparison. For the experiment of query processing performance, a LUBM data sets are used and query patterns are defined considering search targets and their hierarchical relations. In addition, this paper conducts experiments on correctness and completeness of query results to verify data loss of the proposed model, and the results are described. With the comparative evaluation results, our proposal showed a better performance than the existing storage models.
The semantic web is taken as next generation standards of information exchange on the internet to overcome the limitations of the current web. To utilize the information on the semantic web, tools are required the functionality of query search and reasoning for the ontology. However, most of semantic web management tools cannot efficiently support the search for the complex query because they apply Triple-based storage structure about RDF metadata. We design the storage structure of the ontology in corresponding with the structure of ontology data and develop the search system(SMART-DLTriple) to support complex query search efficiently in this research. The performance of the system using new storage structure is evaluated to compare with the popular semantic web management systems. The proposed method and system make a contribution to enhancement of a practical ontology reasoning systems due to improved performance of the ontology search.
The semantic web environment promise semantic search of heterogeneous data from distributed web page. Semantic search would resuit in an overwhelming number of results for users is increased, therefore elevating the need for appropriate personalized ranking schemes. Culture Finder helps semantic web agents obtain personalized culture information. It extracts meta data for each web page(culture news, culture performance, culture exhibition), perform semantic search and compute result ranking point to base user profile. In order to work efficient, Culture Finder uses five major technique: Machine learning technique for generating user profile from user search behavior and meta data repository, an efficient semantic search system for semantic web agent, query analysis for representing query and query result, personalized ranking method to provide suitable search result to user, upper ontology for generating meta data. In this paper, we also present the structure used in the Culture Finder to support personalized search service.

In the last few years, The Semantic Web has increased the interest in ontologies. Ontology is an essential component of the semantic web. Ontologies continue to change and evolve. We consider the management of versions in ontology. We study a set of changes based on domain changes, changes in conceptualization, metadata changes, and temporal dimension. In many cases, we want to be able to search in historical versions, query changes in versions, retrieve versions on the temporal dimension. In order to support an ontology query language that supports temporal operations, we consider temporal dimension includes transaction time and valid time. Ontology versioning brings about massive amount of versions to be stored and maintained. We present the storage policies that are storing all the versions, all the sequence of changed element, all the change sets, the aggregation of change sets periodically, and the aggregation of change sets using a criterion. We conduct a set of experiments to compare the performance of each storage policies. We present the experimental results for evaluating the performance of different storage policies from scheme 1 to scheme 5.
Recently, caching for the database-backed web applications has received much attention. The results of frequent queries could be cached for repeated reuse or for efficient processing of the relevant queries. Since the emergence of XML as a standard for data exchange on the web, today's web applications are to retrieve information from the remote XML sources across the network, and thus it is desirable to maintain the XML query results in the cache for the web applications. In this paper, we describe implementation of an XML query processing system that supports cache-answerability of XML queries, and evaluate its performance. XML path expression, which is one of the core features of XML query languages including XQuery, XPath, and XQL was considered as the XML query. Their result is maintained as an XML materialized view in the XML cache. The algorithms to rewrite the given XML path expression using its relevant materialized view proposed in [13] were implemented with RDBMS as XML store. The major issues of implementation are described in detail. The results of performance experiments conducted with the implemented system showed effectiveness of cache-answerability of XML queries. Comparison with previous research in terms of performance is also Provided.

The purpose of this study is to explore the potential contribution of citation metrics to improving the search performance of citation index databases. To this end, the study generated ten queries in the field of library and information science and conducted experiments based on the relevance assessment using 3,467 documents retrieved from the Web of Science and 60,734 documents published in 85 SSCI journals in the field of library and information science from 2000 to 2021. The experiments included re-ranking of the top 100 search results using citation metrics and search methods, query expansion experiments using vector space model retrieval systems, and the construction of a citation-based re-ranking system. The results are as follows: 1) Re-ranking using citation metrics differed from Web of Science's performance, acting as independent metrics. 2) Combining query term frequencies and citation counts positively affected performance. 3) Query expansion generally improved performance compared to the vector space model baseline. 4) User-based query expansion outperformed system-based. 5) Combining citation counts with suitability documents affected ranking within top suitability documents.

Ranking thousands of web documents so that they are matched in response to a user query is really a challenging task. For this purpose, search engines use different ranking mechanisms on apparently related resultant web documents to decide the order in which documents should be displayed. Existing ranking mechanisms decide on the order of a web page based on the amount and popularity of the links pointed to and emerging from it. Sometime search engines result in placing less relevant documents in the top positions in response to a user query. There is a strong need to improve the ranking strategy. In this paper, a novel ranking mechanism is being proposed to rank the web documents that consider both the HTML structure of a page and the contextual senses of keywords that are present within it and its back-links. The approach has been tested on data sets of URLs and on their back-links in relation to different topics. The experimental result shows that the overall search results, in response to user queries, are improved. The ordering of the links that have been obtained is compared with the ordering that has been done by using the page rank score. The results obtained thereafter shows that the proposed mechanism contextually puts more related web pages in the top order, as compared to the page rank score.

The actual utilization of Semantic Web technology which aims to provide more intelligent and automated service for information retrieval over the Web becomes gradually reality. RDF is widely used as the one of standard formats to present and manage the voluminous data on the Web. Efficient query processing on RDF data, therefore, is one of the ongoing research topics. Retrieving resources having a specific association from a given resource is the typical query processing type and several researches for this have done. However the most of previous researches have not fully considered discovering the complex relationship among resources such as returning the association between resources as the query processing result. This paper introduces the indexing and query processing for ${\rho}$-intersect operation which is one of the semantic association retrieval types. It includes an indexing scheme using suffix array and optimal processing approaches for handling ${\rho}$-intersect operation. The experimental evaluations shows that the average execution times for the proposed approach is 3~7 times faster than the previous approach.
