  • This study examines the influence of women's appearance decoration on professional image, preference evaluation, and inferences about age and job. For the purpose of this study, women's appearance decoration was limited to eyeglasses, earrings, hair length, and clothing color. A quasi-experimental method was used for this study. The experimental design was a $3{\times}2{\times}2{\times}4$ (eyeglasses${\times}$earrings${\times}$hair length${\times}$clothing color) factorial design. The model of stimulus photographs was a woman in her late twenties. She wore a tailored collared jacket with a white dress shirt. The subjects were 362 female college students residing in Seoul. The results of the research were as follows. First, the woman wearing glasses and earrings was perceived as more professional than the woman without glasses and earrings. The woman with short hair was evaluated to be more professional than the woman with long hair. Light grey and dark grey jackets enhanced a professional image in the woman than red and dark red jackets. The woman without glasses was preferred more than the woman wearing glasses, and the woman wearing earrings was preferred more than the woman without earrings. Second, the woman wearing wire-rimmed glasses, earrings, and grey jacket with short hair was perceived to have the highest level of professionalism. Third, the subjects perceived the woman wearing wire-rimmed glasses as looking the oldest and the woman without glasses as looking young. The subjects perceived the woman with short hair as looking younger by 3 to 4 years than the woman with long hair. Fourth, the subjects frequently considered the woman wearing the wire-rimmed glasses, the woman with short hair, and the woman wearing the grey jacket as having a professional job.

  • This study suggests basic data on optimum thermal insulation for spring wear through an investigation of subjective thermal sensation, self-health image and actual wearing conditions. A survey of university students using a self-administered questionnaire was conducted to collect data on subjective thermal sensation, self-health image, wearing conditions, demographics and physical characteristics. The variable of wearing conditions was measured as the response to the clothing they were wearing. Garment items (26 types for males and 41 types for females) were suggested and the items worn by the students were converted into the thermal insulation values for clothing. The main results are as follows. As for the body type perception, males perceived themselves as not fat while females perceived themselves as not thin. As for the health perception, males perceived themselves healthier than females. As for the climate adaptability perception, females were more sensitive to cold than males. The average thermal insulation of clothing was 0.97clo (0.34-1.95clo) with higher insulation for males than females. Students were more sensitive to the cold when their BMI was lower, their body surface area per body weight was larger, and the more they perceived themselves as not healthy. There was a significant correlation between the self-health image of sensitiveness to cold and the thermal insulation of clothing. The results were synthetically discussed in terms of environmental physiology.

  • The purpose of this study was to provide for the useful fundamental data to enterprise which produces the natural-dyed clothing products by investigating with the holding conditions and pursuit of wearing images. The subjects were females aged 20 to 59, a questionnaire was developed by the researcher and distributed to 237 females. A sample of 223 females responded to the questionnaire. Data analyses were processed by SPSS WIN 10.0 Program; Frequency count and percentage, $X^2-test$, ANOVA and Duncan's multiple range test were used for statistical analysis. The results of this study were as follows: First, there were significant differences in holding items, period and private ownership according to age, any academic background and a monthly income. Second, the result by classification of the pursuit of wearing images could be identified four factors: factor 1) sexual and feminine image, factor 2) simple and common image, factor 3) comfortable and natural image and factor 4) dynamic image.

  • Due to COVID-19, Correct method of wearing mask is important to prevent COVID-19 and the other respiratory tract infections. And the deep learning technology in the image processing has been developed. The purpose of this study is to create the type of mask wearing dataset for deep learning models and select the deep learning model to detect the wearing mask correctly. The Image dataset is the 2,296 images acquired using a web crawler. Deep learning classification models provided by tensorflow are used to validate the dataset. And Object detection deep learning model YOLOs are used to select the detection deep learning model to detect the wearing mask correctly. In this process, this paper proposes to validate the type of mask wearing datasets and YOLOv5 is the effective model to detect the type of mask wearing. The experimental results show that reliable dataset is acquired and the YOLOv5 model effectively recognize type of mask wearing.

  • This study conducted in-depth interviews with twelve men in their twenties and employed the Zaltman Metaphor Elicitation Technique (ZMET) to identify the ideal self-image and fantasy of men wearing makeup. The results are as follows. First, the ideal self-images of men wearing makeup can be divided into 7 images (well-managed, dissimilar from real identity, masculine, neat, stylish, standing out, and formal). Men who wear makeup pursued an alternative decent image that is different from their reality. They want to be manly, attractive, decorous, and eye-catching through a better looking face. Second, men who wear makeup have insecurities about their looks and personalities that creates dissatisfaction with reality and a desire for a different idealistic self. Makeup was the tool to create the other entity. Makeup facilitated a fantasy of becoming another to gain increased confidence in social relationships. However, without makeup, they showed a lack of confidence and became intimidated that made them even further dependent on makeup. Third, the process helped participants complete a consensus map that represented the emotional and reasoning structures of men wearing makeup. This study showed 7 ideal self-images of men wearing makeup with a fantasy to create a desired ideal self by wearing makeup. The study can be applied to marketing strategy for men's cosmetics and plates' designs.

  • This study classifies black fashion-mania by each type based on their motivation for wearing black fashion as well as verifies how they express their style. To achieve the objectives of this study, the research questions are as follows. First, the images of black fashion-manias are classified. Second, each type of black fashion enthusiasts' motivations for wearing black fashion are verified. Last, black fashion-mania style are analyzed according to image types. In order to answer the research questions, a literature review and in-depth interviews (total 30 respondents (male 15, female 15) were executed. As a result, black fashion-manias use black fashion for self protection, their self-images such as charismatic professional image, modern sophisticated image, body-conscious sexy image, avant garde image which is an anti-fashion norm and unique image. The strong reason why black fashion-manias insist on black fashion is to 'look cooler'. The expressions could be articulated from sophisticated styling techniques that appear to be undecorated rather than an overt decorated styling. It is helpful information to plan black fashion products and to establish a design direction that requires an understanding of why black fashion is pursued, while promoting an understanding of groups of black fashion-mania.

  • Image synthesis has been remarkably developed in the computer vision domain and various researches have been proposed to generate realistic and high-resolution images. In particular, image-based virtual try-on is an application in fashion domain to simulate wearing clothes. Specifically, using input images of a fashion model and products, an realistic image of the model wearing the provided garments is synthesized. In this paper, we present a comprehensive review of technical trends in image-based virtual try-on technology. We first introduce relevant datasets and discuss their characteristics. Then, we categorize existing image synthesis methods into three main streams: warping-based methods, encoding-decoding-based methods, and diffusion-based methods. Finally, we explore other important research issues in the field of virtual try-on and analyze related researches aimed to tackling those challenges.
