Induction motors' faults detection is almost a popular topic among researchers. Monitoring the output of motors is a key factor in detecting these faults. (Short-time) Fourier, (continuous, discrete) wavelet, and extended Park vector transformations are among the methods for fault detection. One major deficiency of these methods is not being able to detect the severity of faults that carry low energy information, e.g. in ball bearing system failure, there is absolutely no way to detect the severity of fault using Fourier or wavelet transformations. In this paper, the authors have applied the Discrete Wavelet Transform (DWT) frequency-domain analysis to detect bearing faults in an induction motor. In other words, in discrete transform which the output signal is decomposed in several steps and frequency resolution increases considerably, the frequency-band analysis is performed and it will be verified that first of all, fault sidebands become more recognizable for detection in higher levels of decomposition, and secondly, the inner race bearing faults turn out easier in these levels; and all these matter because of eliminating the not-required high energy components in lower levels of decomposing.
This paper proposed signal decomposition and multiresolution representation through wavelet transform using wavelet orthonormal basis. And it suggested most appropriate filter for scaling function in multiresoltion representation and compared two compression method, arithmetic coding and Huffman coding. Results are as follows 1. Daub18 coefficient is most appropriate in computing time, energy compaction, image quality. 2. In case of image browsing that should be small in size and good for recognition, it is reasonable to decompose to 3 scale using pyramidal algorithm. 3. For the case of progressive transmittion where requires most grateful image reconstruction from least number of sampls or reconstruction at any target rate, I embedded the data in order of significance after scaling to 5 step. 4. Medical images such as information loss is fatal have to be compressed by lossless method. As a result from compressing 5 scaled data through arithmetic coding and Huffman coding, I obtained that arithmetic coding is better than huffman coding in processing time and compression ratio. And in case of arithmetic coding I could compress to 38% to original image data.

The proposed algorithm in this paper is based on the wavelet decomposition and the energy computation of composed blocks so the amount of calculation and complexity is minimized by adaptively replacing the DWT coefficients and managing the resources effectively. We are now living in the world of a lot. of multimedia applications for many digital electric appliances and mobile devices. Among so many multimedia applications, the digital image compression is very important technology for digital cameras to store and transmit digital images to other sites and JPEG2000 is one of the cutting edge technology to compress still images efficiently. The digital cm technology is mainly using the digital image compression features so that those images could be efficiently saved locally and transferred to other sites without any losses. JPEG2000 standard is applicable for processing the digital images usefully to keep, send and receive through wired and/or wireless networks. The discrete wavelet transform (DWT) is one of the main differences to the previous digital image compression standard such as JPEG, performing the DWT to the entire image rather than splitting into many blocks. Several digital images m tested with this method and restored to compare to the results of conventional DWT which shows that the proposed algorithm get the better result without any significant degradation in terms of MSE & PSNR and the number of zero coefficients when the energy based adaptive DWT is applied.
Medical imaging techniques such as Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI), Computed Tomography (CT) and Ultrasound (US) produce a large amount of digital medical images. Hence, compression of digital images becomes essential and is very much desired in medical applications to solve both storage and transmission problems. But at the same time, an efficient image compression scheme that reduces the size of medical images without sacrificing diagnostic information is required. This paper proposes a novel threshold-based medical image compression algorithm to reduce the size of the medical image without degradation in the diagnostic information. This algorithm discusses a novel type of thresholding to maximize Compression Ratio (CR) without sacrificing diagnostic information. The compression algorithm is designed to get image with high optimum compression efficiency and also with high fidelity, especially for Peak Signal to Noise Ratio (PSNR) greater than or equal to 36 dB. This value of PSNR is chosen because it has been suggested by previous researchers that medical images, if have PSNR from 30 dB to 50 dB, will retain diagnostic information. The compression algorithm utilizes one-level wavelet decomposition with threshold-based coefficient selection.

A motor is the workhorse of our industry. The issues of preventive and condition-based maintenance, online monitoring, system fault detection, diagnosis, and prognosis are of increasing importance. Different internal motor faults (e.g., inter-turn short circuits, broken bearings, broken rotor bars) along with external motor faults (e.g., phase failure, mechanical overload, blocked rotor) are expected to happen sooner or later. This paper introduces the fault detection technique of induction motors based upon the stator current. The fault motors have rotor bar broken or rotor unbalance defect, respectively. The stator currents are measured by the current meters and stored by the time domain. The time domain is not suitable to represent the current signals, so the frequency domain is applied to display the signals. The Fourier Transformer is used for the conversion of the signal. After the conversion of the signals, the features of the signals have to be extracted by the signal processing methods like a wavelet analysis, a spectrum analysis, etc. The discovered features are entered to the pattern classification model such as a neural network model, a polynomial neural network, a fuzzy inference model, etc. This paper describes the fault detection results that use wavelet decomposition. The wavelet analysis is very useful method for the time and frequency domain each. Also it is powerful method to detect the features in the signals.

The BAMS filter is a kind of wavelet shrinkage filter based on the Bayes estimators with no simulation, therefore it can be used for a real time filter. The denoising efficiency of BAMS filter is seriously affected by the estimated noise variance in each wavelet band. To remove noise in signals in existing BAMS filter, the noise variance is estimated by using the quartile of the finest level of details in the wavelet decomposition, and with this variance, the noise of the level is removed. In this paper, to remove the image noise includingodified quartile of the level of detail is proposed. And by these techniques, the image noises of mid and high frequency bands are removed, and the results showed that the increased PSNR of ab the midband noise, the noise variance estimation method using the monotonic transform and the mout 2[dB] and the effectiveness in denosing of low noise deviation images.
In this paper, a wavelet packet transform method is proposed for improving the altitude control performance of quadrotor UAV using an ultrasonic rangefinder. A ground tests are conducted using an ultrasonic rangefinder that is much used for vertical takeoff and landing. An ultrasonic rangefinder suffers from signal's spike due to specular reflectance and acoustic noise. The occurred spikes in short time span need to be analyzed at both sides time and frequency domain. The analyzed spikes of the ultrasonic rangefinder using a wavelet packet transform. Compared with the discrete wavelet transform, the wavelet packet decomposition can obtain more abundant time-frequency localization information, so it is more suitable for analyzing and processing ultrasonic signals spike. Experimental results show that it can effectively remove the spikes of the ultrasonic rangefinder.

In this paper, we propose a Fresnel transform method using various wavelet functions to efficiently decompose digital holograms. After implementing the proposed wavelet function-based Fresnelet transforms, we apply it to the digital hologram and analyze the energy characteristics of the coefficients. The implemented wavelet transform-based Fresnelet transform is well suited for reconstructing and processing holograms which are optically obtained or generated by computer-generated hologram technique. After analyzing the characteristics of the spline function, we discuss wavelet multiresolution analysis method based on it. Through this process, we proposed a transform tool that can effectively decompose fringe patterns generated by optical interference phenomena. We implement Fresnelet transform based on wavelet function with various decomposition properties and show the results of decomposing fringe pattern using it. The results show that the energy distribution of the coefficients is significantly different depending on whether the random phase is included or not.

An effective statistical feature extraction approach of data sampling of fault in the combined transmission system is presented in this paper. The proposed algorithm leads to high accuracy at minimum cost to predict fault location and fault type classification. This algorithm requires impedance measurement data from one end of the transmission line. Modal decomposition is used to extract positive sequence impedance. Then, the fault signal is decomposed by using discrete wavelet transform. Statistical sampling is used to extract appropriate fault features as benchmark of decomposed signal to train classifier. Support Vector Machine (SVM) is used to illustrate the performance of statistical sampling performance. The overall time of sampling is not exceeding 1 1/4 cycles, taking into account the interval time. The proposed method takes two steps of sampling. The first step takes 3/4 cycle of during-fault and the second step takes 1/4 cycle of post fault impedance. The interval time between the two steps is assumed to be 1/4 cycle. Extensive studies using MATLAB software show accurate fault location estimation and fault type classification of the proposed method. The classifier result is presented and compared with well-established travelling wave methods and the performance of the algorithms are analyzed and discussed.
This paper deals with the multiresolution analysis of wavelet transform for partial discharge(PD).PD is an electrical discharge that only partically bridges the insulation performance of electrical equipment in high voltage. PD signal is very sensitive and difficult to suppress strong noises such as narrow-band radio frequency noise and random noise. In recently, wavelet transform has become a powerful tool to analysis and process signals in various science and technology fields. In this paper, daubechies family is adopted for the research of the characteristics of PD signals. The results show that the kurtosis is increased with discharge process and skewness is decreased with discharge process, but when PD occured positive range then skewness is increased. Segment 7, 8, 9, 10, 11 values is increased with discharge process, so phase distribution is characterized by 210$\sim$330 ranges.
