Porous concrete has been used recently for the purpose of decreasing the load on the earth environment. It consists solely of cement, water and coarse aggregate of uni form size. Its fundamental properties are considerably affected by the physical properties of aggregate because the aggregate is the main material for the most part in its mix proportion. Because of this reason, this study carried out an investigation of the influence of the size and type of aggregate on the fundamental properties of porous concrete. It is shown that the fundamental properties of porous concrete was seldom affected by the size of aggregate except for the case of using $2.5{\sim}5mm$ aggregate but varied significantly by the type of aggregate. In particular, the compressive strength of porous concrete using $2.5{\sim}5mm$ aggregate was much higher than that using other aggregate, and its void ratio and coefficient of permeability was lower. Moreover, the capacity to maintain the permeability of porous concrete was found to vary by the size and type of aggregate. Of particular notice was that it decreased greatly when $2.5{\sim}5mm$ aggregate was used. Unlike ordinary concrete, porous concrete exhibited very high dynamic modulus of elasticity at early age and continued to increase but slowly afterwards.

Part I of this study was devoted to the electrical accelerated chloride diffusion in mortars. In this second part, natural chloride diffusion has been investigated for four types of mortars under exposure to a 0.5 mol/L NaCl solution for a period of up to 35 days. Two different types of sand were used for the production of test samples: siliceous sand (used as a reference) and limestone sand (used in this study). The effect of water to cement ratio and exposure time on the diffusion coefficients of mortars was also investigated. In this study, the total and free chloride content and penetration depth of mortar were measured after immersion, and Fick's second law of diffusion was fitted to the experimental data to determine the diffusion coefficient. Their results show that the use of crushed limestone sand in mortar had a positive effect on the chloride resistance. The apparent diffusion coefficient in all specimens was smaller than that in siliceous sand mortar. However, the chloride penetration of these mortars was increased as exposure time progressed.
This article involves architecting prototype-fuzzy expert system for designing the nominal cover thickness by means of fuzzy inference for quantitatively representing the environment affecting factor to reinforced concrete in chloride-induced corrosion environment. In this work, nominal cover thickness to reinforcement in concrete was determined by the sum of minimum cover thickness and tolerance to that defined from skill level, constructability and the significance of member. Several variables defining the quality of concrete and environment affecting factor (EAF) including relative humidity, temperature, cyclic wet and dry, and the distance from coast were treated as fuzzy variables. To qualify EAF the environment conditions of cycle degree of wet-dry, relative humidity, distance from coast and temperature were used as input variables. To determine the nominal cover thickness a qualified EAF, concrete grade, and water-cement ratio were used. The membership functions of each fuzzy variable were generated from the engineering knowledge and intuition based on some references as well as some international codes of practice.

Creep and shrinkage have pronounced effects on the long-term deflection of prestressed concrete members. Under repeated loading, the rate of creep in prestressed concrete members is often accelerated. In this paper, an iterative computational procedure based on the well known Model B3 for creep and shrinkage was developed to predict the time-dependent deflection of partially prestressed concrete members. The developed model was validated using the experimental observed deflection behavior of a simply supported partially prestressed concrete beam under repeated loading. The validated model was then employed to make predictions of the long-term deflection of the prestressed beams under a variety of conditions (e.g., water cement ratio, relatively humidity and time at drying). The simulation results demonstrate that ignoring creep and shrinkage could lead to significant underestimation of the long-term deflection of a prestressed concrete member. The model will prove useful in reducing the long-term deflection of the prestressed concrete members via the optimal selection of a concrete mix and prestressing forces.
Conventional studies have focused on the reduction in the water-cement ratio, the use of various admixtures, etc., to ensure the durability of reinforced concrete structures against such deterioration factors as carbonation and chloride attack. However, improvement in the concrete quality alone is not considered sufficient or realistic for meeting the recent demand for a service life of over 100 years. This study intends to improve the durability of reinforced concrete structures by improvement in the reinforcing steel, which has remained untouched due to cost problems, through subtle adjustment of the steel components to keep the cost low. As a fundamental study on the performance of Cr-bearing rebars in steel reinforced concrete structures exposed to corrosive environments, The test specimens were made by installing 8 types of rebars in concretes with a chloride ion content of 0.3, 0.6, 1.2, 2.4 and $24kg/m^3$. Corrosion accelerated curing were then conducted with them. The corrosion resistance of Cr-bearing rebars was examined by measuring crack widths, half-cell potential, corrosion area and weight loss after 155 cycles of corrosion-accelerating curing. The results of the study showed that the corrosion resistance increased as the Cr content increased regardless of the content of chloride ions, and that the Cr-bearing rebars with a Cr content of 5% and 9% showed high corrosion resistance in concretes with a chloride ion content of 1.2 and $2.4kg/m^3$, respectively.

This study were evaluated the corrosion threshold reached at steel reinforcement in latex modified concrete(LMC). Accelerated testing was accomplished to the evalate the diffusion coefficient of LMC mix, and the time dependent constants of diffusion. Also, average chloride diffusion coefficient was estimated. From the average chloride ion diffusion coefficient, the time which critical chloride contents at depth of reinforcement steel was estimated. Test results indicated that the corrosion threshold reached at reinforcement in LMC are effected on the mix proportion factor including latex content, and water-cement ratio.

To reduce the size of structural members high strength concrete has recently been utilized for structrue such as ultra-high-rise buildings and prestressed concrete bridges in North America. and its compressive strength has gone up to 1300kgf/$\textrm{cm}^2$. In Japan, research on high-strength concrete has been undertaken on a large scale by the national enterprise so-called New RC Project, and this project purposed to develop the design compressive sstength of 1200kgf/$\textrm{cm}^2$. Considering these circumstance. the aim of this aim of this experimental study is to develop ultra-high-strength concrete with compressive stength over 2300kgf/$\textrm{cm}^2$ with domestic current materials. There are so many factors which influence on manufacturing of ultrahigh-strength concrete. The experimental factors selected in this study are mixing methods, curing methods, water-binder ratio, maximum size of coarse aggregate, and the replacement proportion of cement by silica fume. The results of this expermental study show that it is possible to develop the ultra-high-strength concrete with compressive strength over 2300kgf/$\textrm{cm}^2$.

To use fly ash as an additive for concrete, authors collected 15 kinds of domestic fly ashes and tested the chemical compositions and physical properties of the fly ashes. Fluidity of the fly ash paste was also investigated. The result shows that the chemical compositions of the fly ashes were in the range of regulation of Korean Industrial Standards except ignition loss and the following relationships in fly ash were studied; specific surface and residue in standard sieve, specific surface and unit weight, residue in standard sieve and ignition loss. For the given flow properties, fly ash paste required higher water-binder ratio than cement paste.

This study was carried out to investigate the engineering properties of no-fines con- crete, consisting only of coarse aggregate, cement and water. The used coarse aggregates were two, one is natural coarse aggregate grading 4.75~ lOmm, the other is synthetic lightweight coarse aggregate grading 3~8mm. The results of this study are summarized as follows; 1. The W/C ratio of each type was increased with increase of additional amount of coarse aggregate. 2. The unit weight of used ndtural coarse aggregate was shown 1.762~2.184g/cm$^3$, and synthetic lightweight coarse aggregate was shown 0.756 ~ 1 .348g/cm$^3$. 3. The ahsorption rate of used natural coarse aggregate was shown 8.4 ~ 9.4 %, and synthetic lightweight coarse aggregate was shown 17.0~42.4%. 4. The compressive, tensile and hending strength was decreased with increase of coarse aggregate, respectively. The compressive strength of natural coarse aggregate 1:3 was shown 309kg/cm$^2$. 5. The ultrasonic pulse velocity and dynamic medulus of elasticity of each type was de- creased with increase coarse aggregate, respectively. Also, the decreasing rate of the natural aggregate was larger than that of the synthetic lightweight coarse ag- gregate.
