부산지역 교실배식 초등학교생들의 손 씻기 인식 및 이행 실태 (A Survey on the Hand Washing Awareness and Behavior in Elementary Schools Serving Food in a Classroom in Busan)

  • The principal objective of this study was to evaluate elementary students' awareness of the importance of hand washing, as well as their hand-washing behavior. The data was collected by self-reported questionnaire from 697 students in elementary schools with serving food in a classroom in Busan. Their hand-washing frequency was high, at '3~4 times per day (37.0%)'. 51.0% of the respondents did not wash their hands that often because they were 'not accustomed' to washing their hands, and 35.9% of respondents regarded washing their hands as 'annoying'. The most frequently reported hand washing agent was 'soap and water (71.4%)'. Approximately 95~98% of the respondents always washed their hands after using the bathroom, 87.9% of them washed their hands before eating food, and 86.7% of them washed their hands upon returning home. However, 27.3%, 34.1% and 65.9% of the respondents did not wash their hands after handling money, after eating, and after coughing or sneezing, respectively. Significant factors related to increased hand-washing frequency were gender (p<0.001) and the period of attendance at kindergarten (p<0.05). The mean scores of importance and performance of hand washing were significantly higher for girls than for boys. The group with higher rate (over 4.5/5.0) for the importance of sanitary hand-washing behavior showed significantly higher scores in hand-washing behavior before serving food and before eating than those of the lower rated group (below 4.0/5.0). This study shows that sanitation education is required not only for food handlers but also for students in school foodservices.

세척방법에 따른 상추중 유기인 잔류농약의 제거효과 (Removal Effects of Organic-Phosphorus Pesticide Residue in lettuce by washing methods)

  • 유기 인계 살충제 농약 (Diazinon, Dimethoate, Fenitrothion)이 부착된 상추를 대상으로 정체된 물, 흐르는 물, 중성세제, 알카리용액 및 산성용액 등으로 세척시간(10, 30, 50초)과 세척횟수(1, 2, 3회)별로 잔류농약의 제거율을 조사한 결과는 다음과 같다. 다섯가지 세척방법에 의한 농약의 제거효과는 세척시간과 횟수가 늘어날수록 증가되었으며, 50초간 세척이 가장 높은 제거율을 보였다, 정체된 물을 세척제로 사용하여 50초간 3회 세척시 잔류농약의 제거율은 Diazinon 38.4%, Dimethoate 45.7%, Fenitrothion 24.6%이었으나, 흐르는 물에서는 Diazinon 29.4%, Dimethoate 37.7%, Fenitrothion 24.5%로 정체된 물에서 효과가 높게 나타났다. 알카리용액을 세척제로 사용했을때의 잔류농약 제거율은 Diazinon 32.1%, Dimethoate 49.5%, Fenitrothion 29.9%, 산성용액에서는 Diazinon 30.4%, Dimethoate 36.4%, Fenitrothion 21.0% 이었으며, 중성세제의 경우는 Diazinon 47.1%, Dimethoate 58.0%, Fenitrothion 39.5%로 다섯가지 세척제 중에서 가장 우수한 것으로 나타났다. 본 연구결과만으로 볼 때 중성세제를 세척제로 하여 50초간 3회 세척하는 것이 가장 효과적인 세척방법으로 조사되었다.

착색단고추 세척기 개발 (Development of a Washing Machine for Paprika)

  • The amount of export of paprika has been increased rapidly in recent years. Therefore, its cultivation area has greatly increased in Korea according to current consumer's attraction. Moreover, it becomes one of the major exporting products while it recorded 53 million dollars, in 2009 resulting in 40% of the total vegetables export. Most of the products are exported to Japan, but it is necessary to prolong the quality preservation periods to export paprika to nations like U.S.A. or EU. However, to encourage an export to many countries, washing and disinfection became more important to deal with longer transportation and medical inspection. The non-chemical use is very important due to stronger regulation of safety to agricultural production. Accordingly, this study was performed to determine the optimum conditions and develop a prototype washing machine, hot water washing of paprika. The results were as follows : The working performance of the prototype was 938 kg/hr, and which was 1.5 times higher than the conventional air gun type washing machine. The operation cost of prototype was 30 won/kg, and 56% of the cost was reduced when compared with air gun type washing machine.

에탄올 세정에 의한 다환방향족탄화수소 오염토양의 정화 (Clean Up of Polycyclic Aromatic Hydrocarbon Contaminated Soil by Ethanol Washing)

  • Ethanol washing with distillation as a cleanup process of polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbon(PAH)-contaminated soil was investigated in this study. A multistage ethanol washing with distillation process was applied to three different types of soil, i.e., sandy soil, alluvial soil, and clay with the initial concentration of benzo(a)pyrene 10 mg/kg, benz(a)anthracene 250 mg/kg, and pyrene 100 mg/kg soil. Ethanol was selected as washing solvent because of its high PAH removal efficiency, low cost, and non-toxicity comparing to the other solvent such as isopropyl alcohol and sodium dodecyl sulfate. The satisfactory results (i.e. lower than benzo(a)pyrene 1 mg/kg, pyrene 10 mg/kg, benz(a)anthracene 25 mg/kg, which are the Canada or the Netherlands soil standard) for three types of soils were obtained by at most five-six times washing. It was suggested that organic content in soil decreased the removal efficiency by ethanol washing.

Effects of Number of Washes and pH Adjustment on Characteristics of Surimi-like Materials from Pork Leg Muscle

  • The effects of different washing time and pH adjustment of surimi-like materials from pork leg on quality characteristics were investigated. Surimi was made from pork leg by washing two or four times with water, as well as by pH adjustments of 3.0 or 11.0. The control surimi was made by two times washing from Alaska pollock. The content of crude protein was higher in the surimi manufactured from pork leg with pH adjustments. The highest gel strength was found in the control, and the control had greater lightness and whiteness value. The control had higher texture attributes than the other samples, whereas the surimi from pork leg made by a pH 11.0 adjustment had higher texture attributes than the pH 3.0 adjustment. The sensory color was higher in the control compared to other surimi samples, whereas aroma was lower in the control. However, there were no significant differences in overall acceptability among the surimi samples.

  • This study was aimed at examining the characteristics of women's blue denim on the basis of design elements to provide fundamental data for fashion majors and fashion designers. Seven design elements were selected from previous studies to compare them with the following characteristics of blue denim: color (washing, dyeing), ornamentation (trimming, detailing, painting, and printing), and form modification, tearing, and ripping). Data from 1,520 photographs of the 2019 S/S to the 2023-24 F/W collections were collected through overlapping checks. The data were then subjected to frequency analysis using the Statistical Package for the Social Sciences (version 26). The results are as follows: The most frequent design method used in producing the denim items in our sample was washing, followed by modification, tearing, and ripping and detailing. The greatest change in denim design occurred in 2023, and more design element changes were observed in the F/W season than in the S/S season. Washing was used four times or more frequently than dyeing, while detailing was employed approximately 2 times more often than trimming. With respect to form, the most common approach was modification, followed by tearing and ripping.

영.유아복 세탁에 관한 소비자 행동 연구 - 세탁기 유형별 비교 - (Consumer's Behaviors on the Laundering of Baby's Clothing - Comparison of Washing Machine Types -)

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate consumer's behaviors on the laundering of baby's clothing according to washing machine types. The subjects were 255 consumers with babies(0-2 years) in Korea. The data were collected with a self-administered questionnaire and analyzed by Chi-square test and multiple response analysis, and SPSS 12.0 statistics package was used. Consumers were separated into two groups according to washing machine types with general pulsator type and drum-type. Consumer's behaviors between general pulsator type group and drum-type group of washing machines were also examined. The results of this study were as follows. In the consumer satisfaction for washing machine, mostly drum-type group of consumers were satisfied with their washing machines. As the reasons of washing machine's dissatisfaction, noise, washing time and low washing efficiency were high in the pulsator type group, and washing time, noise and high price in the drum-type washing machine group. The consumers concerned about separation of clothing and laundering label while they washed laundry by washing machine. However, they didn't separate clothing because the small volume of laundry and a long washing time. The most interest and required thing of consumers was complete rinsing without any detergents used in washing as well as the removal of soils for baby's clothing regardless of two washing machine types. And they complained food soils like milk and mother's milk etc. were not completely removed by washing machine. As a whole the washing frequency of baby's laundry was once per a day and the rinsing also more than three times per a laundry. Most of the consumers used a private detergents for baby's clothing(detergents for baby's clothing only), and preferred to the high or boiled temperature washing as a desirable baby's laundering. There were significant differences between general pulsator type group and drum-type group of washing machines on the laundering of baby's clothing in this study.

납 오염 논토양의 원위치 세척을 위한 FeCl3의 Bench-scale 적용성 평가: 세척전후 토양 특성변화 (Characteristics of Agricultural Paddy Soil Contaminated by Lead after Bench-scale In-situ Washing with FeCl3)

  • In a previous study, we assessed the feasibility of ferric chloride ($FeCl_3$) as a washing agent in bench-scale in-situ soil washing to remove Pb from agricultural paddy soil. Herein is a subsequent study to evaluate variations in soil properties after $FeCl_3$ soil washing in terms of fractionation and bioavailability of Pb and chemical properties of the soil. After soil washing, the soil pH decreased from 4.8 to 2.6 and the exchangeable fractions of Pb in the soil increased from 12 mg/kg to 15 mg/kg. Variations in the Pb fractionation of the soil increased Pb bioavailability by almost three-fold; however,the base saturation decreased by 75%. The concentrations of total nitrogen and available phosphate were similar before and after soil washing. The available silicate concentration significantly increased after soil washing but was two times lower than that of soil washed with HCl, which is widely used as a washing agent. This indicates that $FeCl_3$ can be an acceptable washing agent that protects the soil clay structure. The results suggest that soil amendment, such as liming, is needed to recover soil pH, reduce mobility of Pb, and provide exchangeable bases of Ca, Mg, and K as essential elements for the healthy growth of rice plants in reused soil that has been washed.

임상실습 전 간호대학생의 손씻기에 대한 지식, 태도 및 수행도 (Knowledge, Attitude and Performance on the Hand Washing by Pre-practicum Nursing Students)

  • 본 연구는 임상실습 전 간호대학생의 손씻기 관련 특성과 손씻기 지식과 태도 및 수행도를 파악하여 올바른 손씻기 교육프로그램 개발에 관한 기초자료를 제공하고자 시행되었다. 3개 대학의 간호대학생 418명을 대상으로 2011년 9월부터 10월까지 설문지를 이용하여 자료수집을 하였다. 연구결과, 대상자의 1일 평균 손씻기 수는 7.2회, 시간은 평균 19.1초였다. 대상자의 손씻기 지식, 태도, 수행도 점수는 각각 11.34점(1~15), 3.42점(1~5), 3.6점(1~5)이었다. 손씻기에 적당한 소요시간, 손을 씻은 후의 주의사항 등에 대해서는 절반 이상의 대상자가 잘 모르고 있는 것으로 나타났으며, 손씻기 전 시계를 제거하는 것, 코를 만지거나 기침한 후, 돈을 만진 후에 손을 씻는 것 등은 수행이 잘 이루어지지 않는 것으로 조사되었다. 이상의 결과를 바탕으로 간호대학생들의 손씻기 수행도 증가를 위한 교육프로그램을 개발하여 반복교육을 실시함으로써 올바른 습관형성이 이루어지도록 해야 할 것이다.

청소년 건강행태 온라인 조사를 활용한 코로나19 팬데믹 전후 손씻기 실천율 변화 (Changes in Hand Washing Practice Rate Before and After the COVID-19 Pandemic based on the Korea Youth Risk Behavior Web-based Survey)

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study is to identify factors related to hand washing practice among adolescents before and after the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic. Methods: The study was conducted using data from the 15th~16th (2019~2020) Korea Youth Risk Behavior Web-based Survey, and the subjects of the study were 57,303 and 54,948 people who participated in the 2019 and 2020 study, respectively. The data were analyzed with frequency test, rao-scott 𝑥2 test and multiple logistic regression analysis using SPSS 27.0. Results: Changes in the hand washing practice rate were observed before and after the COVID-19 pandemic in all five behaviors; before eating in school, after using the toilet in school, before eating at home, after using the toilet at home, and after returning home. The study found that the hand washing practice rate increased by 1.21-2.43 times after the COVID-19 pandemic. In addition, as a result of logistic regression analysis, the hand washing practice rate before and after the COVID-19 pandemic was related to gender, region, school grade, school type, economic status, health status, and personal hygiene education experience. Conclusion: This study confirmed the importance of hand washing education to improve the hand washing practice rate in adolescents. It is necessary to develop and apply an effective youth hand washing education program in consideration of various variables that appeared as significant factors influencing the hand washing practice rate before and after the COVID-19 pandemic.
