토양세척을 위한 계면활성제의 효과적 선정 (Efficient Screening of Surfactant for Soil Washing)

  • Soil washing process being operated in ex-situ mode using surfactants could be appropriate one of the most effective one for remediation. The choice of surfactants has been considered most significantly to accomplish tile reduction of expenditure and the increase of efficiency. This study was carried out screening test and solubility, washing experiment, and surfactant sorption experiments for 18 kinds of surfactant obtained. Results from each surfactant's PSR obtained by the slope indicated that nonionic surfactants have much higher solubility for HOCs than anion surfactants for that. The washing experiment to find out a removal efficiency of each surfactant's TPH, LE1017 and LE1019 showed high removal efficiency. Through on the result of estimating the extent of adsorption of surfactants for soils, nonion surfactants showed higher adsorption to soils than anion surfactants.

세탁 및 옷감 신장에 따른 천마스크 제품의 여과효율 변화 (Changes of Particle Filtration Efficiency of Cloth Masks by Machine Washing and Cloth Expansion)

  • Objectives: This study was designed to evaluate the changes in the particle filtration efficiencies of five cloth masks (4 plate types, 1 cup type) with an increasing number of machine washings and the degree of cloth expansion. Methods: NaCl aerosols were generated using an atomizer and passed through cloth masks in a dynamic aerosol chamber. Particle concentrations were measured both before and after for the cloth masks using an optical particle counter (OPC) in the size range of $0.3{\sim}10{\mu}m$. Results: In the original condition, the filtration efficiencies of the five cloth masks were A: 20.1%, B:30.9%, C: 25.0%, D: 26.5%, and E: 40.9%. As the number of washings increased in the order of one, two, and four times, the filtration efficiencies of cloth mask C increased. The filtration efficiency of A, D, and E increased after the first washing. With the exception of B, the filtration efficiency of cloth masks increased after the second washing and those of all cloth masks increased after the fourth washing. This might be caused by the fibers untangling from the yarn and being freed at one end. In this status, the packing density of the textile will not change, but the distances between fibers will increase, which might bring about an increase in filtration efficiency. When the cloth masks were extended by 10% and 20% in one direction, the filtration efficiencies of cloth masks B, D, and E decreased at 10% extension, and those of all cloth masks decreased at 20% extension. When the cloth masks were expanded by 10% and 20% in two directions, the filtration efficiencies of all cloth masks decreased by at least 34.7% at 10% extension, and by at least 60.9% at 20% extension Conclusions: The filtration efficiency of cloth masks could decrease after one to two machine washings, but will increase after four washings in comparison with their original performances. The filtration efficiency of cloth masks will decrease when they are expanded, such as when stretching over the nose during wearing status.

토양세척공법의 현장 적용을 통한 유류오염토양정화

  • Soil washing was applied as a supplementary step of soil remediation at a petroleum oil contaminated site. A soil washing system was designed, assembled, and operated at the site. A field screening method with PetroFlagTM was adopted at the site to find the exact boundary of contaminated area as soil excavation progressed and to verify the concentration of treated soil. The system operation showed the cleanup efficiency of 90% at the compatible cost compared to other methods.

  • Several chemical washing procedures were applied to Parathion and Diazinon contaminated soil. Batch and column tests were performed to determine the insecticides extraction efficiency as a function of pH. Washing efficiency of methanol is more higher than that of water and HCl when washed parathion and diazinon are. Those are completely miscible with most organic solvents. For parathion, release trend is increased as pH is increased because it is hydrolyzed easily at the condition of alkali. But diazinon shows reverse because diazinon is decomposed rapidly at the condition of acidic So, diazinon is more released than parathion is because this experiment is peformed in acidic and weak acidic conditions. Generally, parathion and diazinon are classified as having low mobility, so they can be easily controlled if the proper washing process are applied.

에탄올 세정에 의한 다환방향족탄화수소 오염토양의 정화 (Clean Up of Polycyclic Aromatic Hydrocarbon Contaminated Soil by Ethanol Washing)

  • Ethanol washing with distillation as a cleanup process of polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbon(PAH)-contaminated soil was investigated in this study. A multistage ethanol washing with distillation process was applied to three different types of soil, i.e., sandy soil, alluvial soil, and clay with the initial concentration of benzo(a)pyrene 10 mg/kg, benz(a)anthracene 250 mg/kg, and pyrene 100 mg/kg soil. Ethanol was selected as washing solvent because of its high PAH removal efficiency, low cost, and non-toxicity comparing to the other solvent such as isopropyl alcohol and sodium dodecyl sulfate. The satisfactory results (i.e. lower than benzo(a)pyrene 1 mg/kg, pyrene 10 mg/kg, benz(a)anthracene 25 mg/kg, which are the Canada or the Netherlands soil standard) for three types of soils were obtained by at most five-six times washing. It was suggested that organic content in soil decreased the removal efficiency by ethanol washing.

Ammonia and Hydrogen Sulfide Removal from Swine House Exhaust Air Using a Dip Injection Wet Scrubber

  • This study was conducted to evaluate the odor reduction efficacy of the dip injection wet scrubber (DIWS) using tap water as washing fluid. The $NH_3$ and $H_2S$ removal efficiency of 7 day batch operated DIWS was evaluated twice over a total of 14 days of experiment. The $NH_3$ removal efficiency ranged from 26 to 37%. The $H_2S$ removal efficiency was between 22 and 30%. The pH of the washing fluid maintained below 8 and the $NH_4{^+}$ concentration tended to keep constant around 350 ppm after 5 days of washing-fluid replacement. Therefore, the 5-day washing fluid replacement interval is more preferable than the 7-day interval. The $NH_4{^+}$ concentration and the electrical conductivity (EC) showed a high correlation. The EC measurement can be used as an alternative to conventional $NH_4{^+}$ concentration measurement method for real time monitoring of washing fluid condition.

나노버블을 이용한 지하철용 전기집진기 포집먼지에 대한 세척효율 평가 (Evaluation of Washing Efficiency of Collective PM by Electrostatic Precipitator in Subway Station Using Nano Bubble)

  • 지하역사 내 대기오염물질은 외부에서 유입되거나 또는 지하철 내부의 승객 승·하차 시 발생하는 등 여러 가지 요인에 의해 복합적으로 발생한다. 최근 연구 결과에 따르면, 지하역사 내 터널 및 지하철역에서 발생하는 대부분의 대기오염물질은 열차풍에 의해 발생되는 것과 같이 내부적 요인에 많은 영향을 많이 받는 것으로 알려져 있다. 이러한 대기오염물질을 제어하기 위해서는 지하철역사 내에 전기집진장치와 같은 집진시설이 필요하며, 집진장치에 의해 제거된 미세먼지를 보다 효율적으로 관리하기 위해서는 집진장치 내부에 지속적인 세척이 필수적이다. 따라서 본 연구에서는 지하역사에 설치할 전기집진장치 내부 집진판에 쌓인 미세먼지를 세척하기 위한 나노버블세척 장치를 개발하였고 나노버블수의 먼지세척효율을 평가하고자 하였다. 실험 결과, 분사압 증가에 따라 세척 효율이 일정하게 증가하였고 나노버블수로 세척할 경우 수돗물로 세척한 경우보다 부착먼지 제거효율이 130.8% 더 증가하였다. 세척횟수 증가에 따라 최대 제거효율은 수돗물에 비해 143.1% 높았지만 적합한 세척횟수는 3회 미만인 것으로 나타났다. 또한 나노버블수 체류시간 변화에 따른 세척효율 실험결과, 나노버블수의 최대 체류시간은 5분 이내로 유지됨을 확인하였다.

불구속 동력전달 세탁기의 성능 평가 (Performance Evaluation of a Washing Machine of Unconstrained Transmission)

  • Washing machines designed to clean laundry have been more widely used at home as they reduce household labor and boost the quality of life. Technological advances and better standards of life increase demand for laundry washing performance. Energy efficiency regulations and consumer demand for the larger trend, washing machine makers should be done in performance studies to reduce power, and water consumption and the load on power transmission devices. In this study, performance of a fully automatic washing machine with unconstrained transmission is analyzed through experiment and CFD simulation. It is found that the interaction between laundry and transmission change the washing behavior and affect washing performance with regard to the degree of freedom. The results obtained in this study can be used in developing new washing machine transmissions and make them more robust.

시판세제의 세정성에 관한 연구 (Studies on the Detergency of Commercial Detergents.)

  • Washing efficiency of detergents were investigated by measuring of surface reflectance after cotton fabrics soiled in bath which consist of carbon black, palmitic acid, liquid paraffin and carbon tetrachloride were treated in Laundry-tester. Detergents used were soaps and synthetic detergents being on the marketing. Results of this study indicate that soaps were superior to synthetic detergents. Washing continued three times repeatedly in the same bath and washing in the bath which is kept for 24 hours after one washing, both of the washing efficiencies are found no appreciable change.

토양 세척 시 초음파 적용에 따른 유기 오염물 제거 특성 평가 (Removal Characteristics of Organic Contaminants by Ultrasonic Soil Washing)

  • Cavitation generated by ultrasonic irradiation can enhance the diffusional transport of organic contaminants from soil surfaces or pores. Therefore, ultrasound soil washing can be an alternative of traditional soil washing process. In this study, soil was artificially contaminated with n-tetradecane, n-hexadecane and phenanthrene. A plate type ultrasonic reactor at 25 kHz frequency and 1000W power was used for laboratory soil washing experiments. Ultrasonic soil washing efficiency was compared with those of traditional soil washing using mechanical mixing. Various operational parameter such as soil/liquid ratio, irradiation time, particle size, and soil organic matter content was tested to find out the optimum condition. It was found that ultrasonic soil washing demonstrates better performance than mechanical soil washing. Optimum soil:liquid ratio for ultrasonic soil washing was 1 : 5. Desorption of organic contaminants from soils by ultrasonic irradiation was relatively fast and reached equilibrium within 10 minute. However, decrease in the soil particle sizes by ultrasonic irradiation results in re-adsorption of contaminants to soil phase. It was also observed that soil particle size distribution and soil organic matter content have significant effects on the efficiency of ultrasonic soil washing.
