This study analyzed attitudes of primary school children about volunteer service as reported by 582 children, 267 parents and 236 teachers. It aimed to develop a program for the activation of primary school children's volunteer activities and internalization of the importance of continuous involvement in volunteer activities. Two 6th grade classes were sampled for participation in the experience-based preparatory education program. Questionnaires were distributed to subjects. Data were analyzed by SPSSWIN 10.0. Results showed that the experience-based preparatory education program elevated the level of children's motivation for volunteer activities and heightened their satisfaction with volunteer work. Recommendations were made further study.
The purpose of this study is to promote the status of environmental education and environmental awareness among employees in company levels. To achieve the study purpose we measured the infrastructure of companies (e.g., re-education programs and social contribution activities) and how these enhance environmental awareness to the employees. The survey was conducted by questioning 100 company employees. The questionnaire was composed of two parts : 1) environmental pollution and 2) nature conservation. The Chi-square test and one-way ANOVA was applied to compare groups. The results can be summarized as follows : First, the environmental education for employees in companies is insufficient; however, environmental education should be necessary and the employees provided with environmental education by their companies appeared to be highly satisfied (p<0.05) than groups without appropriate environmental education. Second, volunteer workers for participating environmental education programs and events are rare; however, employees who participated in volunteer efforts scored the highest in environmental awareness. Third, those that participated in environmental education programs and volunteer works were ranked the highest in environmental awareness (p<0.05) in 10 categories of questions. Based on the study, the environmental education and the volunteer work appeared to be effective tools in boosting environmental awareness among company workers. In conclusion, environment oriented volunteer work is an effective way to improve environmental awareness toward adults.

The purpose of this study is to provide the basic data to activate the operation of the volunteer activities. The specified subjects for this study are how different is it in the changes of the self-concept and the satisfaction and the intention of the continuance of volunteer activities according to the type of volunteer work and guiding organization for middle school students. For this study, 64 students, the homogeneous ability group, were intentionally assigned in the preliminary inspection of self-concept and 16 students were randomly allocated respectively for 4 groups. The consequences based on the result are as follow: First, it has more influence with the group activities than the individual on the changes in the self-concept. But, there isn't meaningful difference by each guiding organization. Therefore, the school has to provide with activating middle school student's activities by developing various weekly and monthly club volunteer activities. Second, for the satisfaction and the intention of continuance among the guiding organization, it has meaningful difference in the group activities only, not in the individual ones. It gives the ground for the government to provide intensified support to the leaders of the group and grant the incentives to the group of distinguished activities, in the perspective of developing sociality, promoting the group volunteer activities.
This study aimed to concretely verify the mediating effect of the level of satisfaction of youth volunteer activities where the youth volunteer activities had the effect on community spirit. The data was collected from 927 students in 2091 students who participated in 5th [Korea Children Youth Panel Study] (KCYPS) in 2014. The results from the analyzed data are as follows. First, it was found that participation time to the youth volunteer activities had the meaningful effect on the youth's community spirit. Second, it was found that participation time to the youth volunteer activities had the meaningful effect on the level of satisfaction in youth volunteer activities. Third, it was found that there was a mediating effect between the participation time and community spirit when considering the level of satisfaction of volunteer activities. Based on the results of these studies, we proposed a volunteer education program for the scheme and the youth that it is possible to improve the satisfaction of the volunteer activities of young people to participate in volunteer activities.
Volunteer fire department is a private firefighting organization which is set up in Seoul, metropolitan cities, city/eup/myeon to assist firefighting service. It actively participates in prevention and aid of various disasters as well as in fire prevention/extinguishment to protect people's lives and property and to promote regional development. In short, it is a nonpaid, voluntary, private service organization; it is composed of residents in the area who have spirit of service and sacrifice, wish to join, and work in their own occupation while assisting firefighting work. Yet, voluntary fire department of such nobility and sincerity has not been vitalized, and accordingly, studies regarding this issue have been conducted in firefighting organizations and academia. Therefore, purposes of this research are 1) to analyze issues of current situation through looking at basic training for new volunteer firefighter, unification of power to appoint and dismiss captain and crews of the volunteer fire department, volunteer fire firefighters with a few good people, and vitalization of female volunteer firefighters; and 2) to propose vitalization measures based on the findings above.
Volunteer computing is a computing paradigm in which the operations of a large-scale application are processed using idle resources of Internet-connected computers. The redundant-work distribution techniques used in the volunteer computing environment cause some problems like delay of the work completion time or inefficiency of the work execution due to continuous requests of the work redistribution because the techniques do not consider the characteristics of works and dynamic resources. To cope with such problems this paper suggests a P2P based regional matchmaking technique which can redistribute works in consideration of the characteristics of the works and the participant resources. The techniques consist of the profiles for works/resources, the module for monitoring the available resources spaces, the protocols for the matching request/reply, the module for match-ratio calculation, and so on.
This research investigated the improvement plan for Korean Volunteer Fire Department through comparative consideration of overall operation system of Japanese and U.S. Volunteer Fire Department. For this, the researcher utilized descriptive approach according to documentary survey method including relevant academic essay, advanced research report, national institution publication, fire fighting-related books, textbook for new comers of Japanese fire department, and overseas training report, etc., and suggested an improvement plan for efficient operation of Korean Volunteer Fire Department. Research results are, first, enhance the community spirit of local community and establish of the status of Volunteer Fire Department. second, enlarge the scope of the work of Volunteer Fire Department to rescue, emergency medical services. third, organize task force team which is in charge of professional field education and training for Volunteer Fire Department. fourth, improve individual reward system and establishment of Volunteer Fire Department's identity and reinforce financial support. The researcher expects the research results can be utilized as the basic materials for the development of Korean Volunteer Fire Department, henceforth.
This study was surveyed the knowledge and attitude toward the elderly in dental personnels, who play an important role in oral health of the elderly in the aging society, In order to arrange the basic data that is conducive to development in the mouth care of the elderly, the research was conducted from January 7 to February 14, 2008, targeting 270 dental personnels in Daejeon & Chungnam area, who are in charge of oral duties in the current clinic. As a result of analyzing so that questionnaire can be prepared with the self-administered questionnaire, the following results were obtained 1. The knowledge level on the elderly in dental hygienist was 13.47 marks out of 25-mark perfection. There was no difference in knowledge depending on job category and volunteer-work activity experience, And, there was no difference even depending on physical & physiological sphere, psychological sphere, and family & social sphere. 2. The attitude level toward the elderly in dental hygienist was 91.63 marks out of 150-mark perfection. Dental hygienist showed positive attitude in personality characteristic, emotional characteristic, and self-management ability by sphere, and showed statistically significant difference (p=0.011). 3. In case of having volunteer-work activity experience, the attitude level toward the elderly was 92.57 marks out of 150-mark perfection, A case of having volunteer-work activity experience showed positive tendency in emotional characteristic, self-management ability, and judgement-ability characteristic by sphere, And, the attitude toward family relation was indicated to be negative tendency, thus there was statistical significance(p=0.022). 4. As for the correlation between knowledge and attitude toward the elderly, dental hygienist was indicated to have high interest in the volunteer-work experience, the elderly education experience, and the elderly problem(r=0. 444). The knowledge and attitude toward the elderly had slightly positive correlation(r=0.155). Dental hygienists are being required gradually as the primary staff for the elderly people's dental care in the aging society. A continuous education is needed so that dental hygienists can have positive sight in understanding, knowledge, and attitude. And, the development in a mouth care program for the elderly in line with it is considered to be necessary.

The purpose of this study was to examine the factors associated with adolescents' attitude toward volunteer activities. Analyses of data provided by 450 adolescents attending secondary schools in Gyeongnam Province suggested the following results. First, adolescents' attitude toward volunteer activities differed by gender, religion, and academic grades. Adolescents who were girls, who had religions, and whose academic grades were higher showed higher levels of positive attitude toward volunteer activities than their counterparts who were boys, who did not have religion and whose academic standing was lower. Second, adolescents' attitude toward volunteer activities significantly differed by the family factor. To be specific, parental attention, parental support and family's participation in volunteer work made differences to the adolescents' attitude toward volunteer activities. Third, the adolescents took significantly different attitudes toward voluntary activities according to the school factor. Significant differences were found according to attention and support from teachers. The students whose teachers had more interest in voluntary service and whose teachers offered more aid took a more positive attitude to voluntary service. Forth, some of the personal, family, and school factors were associated with adolescents' attitude toward volunteer activities. Among the personal factors, gender, religion, academic standing, and morality were associated with dolescents' attitude toward volunteer activities. Those who were girls, who were religious, whose academic standing was higher, and who were more moral took a more positive attitude toward volunteer activities. Among family and school factors, parental attention/support and attention and support from teachers affected the voluntary service attitude of the adolescents. The students whose parents had more interest and gave more support and whose teachers showed more interest and offered more support took a more positive attitude toward volunteer activities. Therefore parental attention and support were identified as the variable to make the best prediction of the adolescents' positive attitude toward volunteer activities.

The purposes of this study were to find out the factors affecting the continuous participation of volunteer activities for disaster relief and to provide implications for the efficient management of sustainable disaster relief volunteer activities. In order to achieve these purposes, we investigated how much individual characteristics, the volunteer attitude and motivation, and institutional characteristics, respectively, affect the duration of disaster relief volunteer activities. The research was carried out targeting 261 disaster relief volunteer workers, aged over 20, who affiliated to various volunteer centers. Data were collected by survey methodology from May 7th to May 27th, 2008. A frequency analysis and a multiple regression were utilized for analyzing data. The results of this study were as follows: the continuity of volunteer activities of the subjects are likely to be high when they are older, have a job, are highly motivated, are assigned properly to the placement and task. Based on the results of this study, some practical implications were suggested. First, since placement and task assignment managed by volunteer organizations are very important for the continuity of volunteer activities, those organizations should have developed diverse volunteer activity programs considering volunteers' characteristics and interest. Second, the managers of those organizations need to sufficiently consider the characteristics of volunteers such as age and job when dispatching volunteers in disaster areas. The managers should help their volunteers to immerse in their volunteer work. Finally, it is necessary to induce social concern and support in disaster relief volunteer activities in order to make volunteers especially with jobs be constantly active in disaster relief activities.
