As a result of this study, vitality of natural monuments (large trees) looks relatively good but they require continuous management. Also, the management for condition recovery and condition maintenance, and minimum measures are needed at least to avoid natural calamity. Major points induced are as follows : The first, although most of natural monument large trees showed favorable growth environment, most of them are aged and have dense twigs with requirement for weed trimming to remove complicated and unnecessary branches. In addition, as most of large trees grow alone in a large space with potential natural calamity, thus, minimum measures are required at least. Secondly, change in electric resistance in surveyed large trees was relatively favorable, however, large trees with soil covering showed high electric resistance and were found to have low vitality. As shown, this study was conducted to find out the measurement techniques of natural monuments, Basic foundation is suggested through the measurement of electric resistance, and the vitality of natural monuments; more accurate investigation will be remained for further discussion.
The study was conducted to test the effectiveness of thermotherapy for high school girls who suffered from disruption in school activities through dysmenorrhea, and to study the extent of its availability in school infirmaries as one of the nursing methods. The test for the study was designed to make a contrast between half of the subjects (20) who did not receive the thermotherapy, and the rest (20) who did during the period from February 15th to April 14th, 2001. Measurements were taken of the subjects who complained of painful menstruation by a set of variables. The variables that were established and complemented by Hur, Mung-heang (1985) consist of 29 items that assess the dysmenorrhea and vitality through the symptoms of primary menstruation visually. Spsswin was used to analyze the data. The Cronbach-${\alpha}$ method was used for statistic confidence, and the test effect of both the subjects and the contrary ones was analyzed by way of T-test. The conclusions are as follow. (1) The hypothesis 1 states that the subjects with themotherapy have a lower degree of dysmenorrhea rather than the contrary ones without it. By the above assessment, there was a quantitative difference between the subjects at 39.40, and the contrary ones at 22.0. After the themotherapy, the degree of dysmenorrhea in the subjects was low indicating that there is a still 5% chance of statistic meaningful difference (t= 2.651. P= .012). As a result, the first hypothesis was accepted. (2) The hypothesis 2 states that the subjects with themotherapy have a different primary menstruation than those without. Data indicate that there was a difference of -5.95 and -4.80. The subjects showed low degrees. Since it was statistically insignificant (t=-1.398, P=.170), the second hypothesis was rejected. (3) The hypothesis 3 states that the subjects with themotherapy have a different vitality. The vitality was measured in three aspects. (1) pulse rate (/min) The hypothesis 3' states that the subjects with themotherapy have the different pulse rate from those without. Data indicate that there was no statistically meaningful difference between the two groups (t=.237, P=. 814). Therefore, the third 1st hypothesis was rejected. (2) Respiration rate The hypothesis 3' states that the subjects with themotherapy have a different respiration rate between pre-thermotherapy and post-thermotherapy. in contrast with the ones without it. The data show that there was no statistically meaningful difference (t=.133. P=.895). A little respiration rate difference was shown between pre-and post-. Likewise. the third 2nd hypothesis was rejected. (3) Blood pressure In the 3rd sub-hypothesis that there would be a difference between experimental and controlled groups was also rejected. because there was no statistically significant difference between the contracting blood pressure and the relaxing blood pressure. In terms of vitality. the pulse rate, respiration rate and blood pressure have no statistical meaning but the first two ones show the decreasing in the rate. In short, though exclusive studies focused on thermo therapy have not been conducted and the comparison can not be made, this study shows not only that the thermotherapy is very effective to dysmenorrhea, but also that it can be available in school infirmaries as one of the nursing methods.
The purpose of this study was to analyze the effect wool in patients with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease. The study was conducted experimentally on 53 patients with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease attending the chest diseases polyclinic of a hospital located in Erzurum. A randomized selection method was used to categorize patients into two groups; a treatment (n = 27), and a control group (n = 26). Patients in the treatment group (pre-test measurements were taken) wore wool vests for a period of three months, while patients in the control group wore cotton vests (placebo) for the same duration; post-test measurements were taken for both groups at the end of the three-month period. The Medical Outcomes Study Short Form 36, the St. George's Respiratory Questionnaire, and pulmonary function tests were used to collect data. Results concluded that there was a significant decrease (p < 0.05) in the overall score of the St. George's Respiratory Questionnaire, and the symptom, effect, and activity mean scores, while there was a significant increase (p < 0.05) in the SF-36 physical functioning, general health, bodily pain, role physical, vitality, role emotional, social functioning, mental health, physical and mental component summary mean scores of patients in the treatment group. Results of the study concluded that the symptoms, activity, disease effectiveness, and quality of life improved in patients that wore wool vests.

Background: To introduce a novel technique for advancement genioplasty helping surgeons to avoid soft tissue difficulties especially in short-faced patients with deep mentolabial fold and everted lower lip. Case presentation: In a trapezius-shaped, osteotomy was performed in the chin region. The mobilized segment was advanced, and the existing gap was grafted using interpositional allograft materials. Each side had been fixated by three-hole plates and two screws. The outcomes revealed no change in lower anterior teeth vitality. The patients did not report any changes of sensation in lower lip and chin either. The measurements indicated no increase in depth of mentolabial fold in patients undergoing this surgical technique. The postoperative evaluation showed a successful esthetic outcome for the patient and the surgeon concurrently. Conclusion: Based on our experience, the authors concluded that the Balcony technique is a simple and reliable procedure for patients with a deep mentolabial fold.
This study aims to compare and analyze a willow tree (Salix Koreensis andersson) extract's antioxidant and anti-inflammatory activity by investigating its: total polyphenol, flavonoid content, SOD-like activity, DPPH vitality. the willow tree was induced with LPS to determine its active anti-inflammatory effects. as a result, the willow methanol extract showed a higher total polyphenol and flavonoid content than those of willow distilled water extract, but the willow distilled water extract showed a higher SOD than that of willow methanol extract. in its DPPH scavenging ability, the willow methanol extract's antioxidant activity was higher than that of the willow distilled water extract. the willow extract's measurements such as the production of NO, inflammatory cytokine ($TNF-{\alpha}$, IL-6 measurement) were significantly reduced as its concentration level went down. according to the research outcomes, when induced, he will extract's macrophage produces mediator-like substances such as NO and inflammatory cytokine that can be used to alleviate the inflammatory response. therefore, the willow tree proved to be a useful raw plant material for the products designed to combat inflammatory activities due to its natural antioxidant and anti-inflammatory response substances such as NO and cytokine.
Ecklonia cava which is a kind of phaeophyta and belongs to Laminariales Alariaceae is a perennial seaweed distributed over Jeju and Dokdo islands. The purpose of this study evaluate antioxidant activities of Ecklonia cava crackers. Crackers were prepared with different measurements (0, 2, 4, 6, 8 g) of Ecklonia cava; indicated as S1, S2, S3, S4 and S5, and are used to examine and compare antioxidant activities, and quality characteristics. Ecklonia cava powder was used, after being extracted with 70% ethanol in hot water and done in freeze dehydration. To examine antioxidant activities of Ecklonia cava and cracker, DPPH radical scavenging activity, total phenolic and reducing power were tested. Total phenolic content was 36.86 mg GAE/g. DPPH radical scavenging activity and reducing power showed good vitality as amounts of Ecklonia cava powder increased (p<0.001). pH level decreased as amounts of power increased. L (lightness) values and b (yellowness) values decreased with an increased concentration of Ecklonia cava powder (p<0.001), whereas (redness) values didn't show tendency. S5 indicated the lowest spreadness. According to sensory evaluation, S4 (6 g) was preferred the most in terms of color, flavor, taste, appearance, texture, and overall palatability. Results suggest that Ecklonia cava powder has antioxidant effect and is useful as a functional food resource.

The vigor condition of trees is an important indicator for the management of urban forested area. But difficulties in how to assess the tree vigor condition still remain. Previous efforts were limited in the 1) measurement of single indicator rather than using multiple indices, 2) purpose-oriented measurement such as for air-pollution effect or specific pathological symptom, and 3) ordinal-scale evaluations by field crews 4) despite human errors based on his/her experiences or prior knowledge. Therefore, this study attempted to develop a quantitative and objective methodology for assessing tree vigor condition, by measuring multiple modules and building the profile inventory. Furthermore, the possibility and limitations were discussed in terms of schematic frames describing tree vigor condition. The vigor condition of 56 flowering cherry plants in urban park were assessed by in-situ measurements of following eight items; growth of crown(Gc), growth of shoots, individual tree volume(Vol), plant area index, woody area index, leaf area index, leaf chlorophyll content(Lc) and leaf water content(Lw). For validation, these measurements were compared with the ranks of holistic tree vigor condition, which were visually assessed using a 4-point grading scale based on the expert's knowledge. As a result, the measures of each evaluation item successfully highlighted a variety of aspects in tree vigor condition, including the states of both photosynthetic and non-photosynthetic parts. The variation in the results depending on evaluated parts was shown within an individual tree, even though the broad agreement among the results was found. The result of correlation analysis between the tested measurements and 4-point visual assessment, demonstrated that the state of water-stressed foliage of the season (Lw) or the development of plant materials since sapling phase (Vol) could be better viewed from the outer appearance of trees than other symptoms. But only based on the visual assessment, it may be difficult to detect the quality of photosynthesis (Lc) or the recent trend in growth of trees (Gc). To make this methodology simplified for the broad-scale application, the tested eight measurements could be integrated into two components by principal component analysis, which was labelled with 'the amount of plant materials' and 'vigor trend', respectively. In addition, the use of these quantitative and multi-scale indicators underlies the importance of assessing various aspects of tree vigor condition, taking into account the response(s) on different time and spatial scale of pressure(s) shown in each evaluated module. Future study should be advanced for various species at diverse developing stages and environment, and the application to wide areas at a periodic manner.
The present study was to evaluate the accuracy of the frequency dependent type apex locator, Root-ZX. The subjects included 505 root canals of 238 teeth treated by the Department of Conservative Dentistry, and 22 human premolars which were schduled to be extracted for the orthodontic reasons. The results were as follows ; 1. The working lengths determined by Root-ZX were compared with radiographic readings. Of the total 505 root canals, 66 % showed coincidence within ${\pm}0.5mm$ and the average readings of Root-ZX were $0.13mm{\pm}1.05$ longer than those of radiographic readings. 2. The length difference between the file tip determined by Root-ZX and the apical constriction in extracted teeth were measured. Of the total 24 root canals, 70.8 % showed coincidence within ${\pm}0.5mm$ and the average readings of Root-ZX were $0.12mm{\pm}0.50$beyond the apical constriction. 3. The vitality of the teeth did not show any statistical difference(p>0.05) in the accuracy of the Root-ZX readings. The presence of the periapical lesions, however, significantly lowered the percentage of ${\pm}0.5mm$ accuracy in Root-ZX measurements.(p<0.05). In the presence of periapical lesions, the percentage within ${\pm}0.5mm$ was significantly lower.

Purpose: This study presents radiographic and laboratory analysis and comparison of bone resorption rate of grafted endochondral bone and intramembranous bone on the aspect of height and volumetric change. Patients and Methods: 18 partially edentulous patients who needed alveolar ridge augmentation for implant placement during the years 2002 to 2004 were selected for this study. Group A consisted of 5 males & 3 females who were treated with intraoral(intramembranous) bone and Group B consisted of 8 males & 2 females who were treated with iliac(endochondral) bone. Non-standard periapical X-ray was taken at day 1, 2 month, 4 months, 8 months after the surgery. Resorption rate of grafted bone were measured on these X-rays and compared. Also we calculated volume of grafted bone with models which was fabricated at 1.5 months, 6 months. Results: There was bone resorption in both groups. Group B showed more bone resorption than Group A. In Group A, the resorption rate according to the radiographic measurements was 9.81 %, and resorption rate according to volumetric measurement was 16.5 %. In group B, the resorption rate according to the radiographic measurements was 15.9 %, and resorption rate according to volumetric measurement was 30.6 %. Significant difference is on radiographic resorption of post-op 2, 4, 8 months on two groups (P < 0.05). Also significant difference is on volume resorption on two groups (P < 0.05). Conclusion: We found that more bone resorption occurred with iliac(endochondral) bone and when we use intraoral bone, that bone can maintain their vitality for alveolar ridge augmentation.
The purpose of the experiment was to clarify morphologically normal growth pattern of the ductus deference in accordance with the sex maturity of meat-type cockerels. 1. Diameter of lumens in u, pp.r, mid and lower parts of ductus deferens, the most conspicuous enlargement of lumen was observed in the lower part. Heights of epithelial layers of ductus deferens showed abrupt growth at 12 weeks of age with subsequent gradual growth in all the part of u, pp.r, mid and lower, and heights of those at 30 weeks were a, pp.oximately 4 times as large in the u, pp.r and mid parts and 5 times as large in the lower part in contrast to those at 4 weeks of age. Thickness of muscular layer of ductus showed gradual growth in contrast with the diameter of lumen and height of epithelial layer, showing 1.3 times as large in the u, pp.r part, 1.6 times in the mid part and 1.9 times in the lower part at 30 weeks of age in contrast to the thickness at 4 weeks of age. 2. Within 10 weeks after hatching, lining cells of ductus deferens were mainly composed of round cells and columnar cells in simple columnar epithelium. During 10th to 20th week, the lining cells were mainly composed of high columnar cells and round cells in pseudostratified epithelium. From 22nd week, the lining cells were composed of pseudostratified columnar cells. Whereas round cells disa, pp.ared gradually. Enlargement of lumen and pooling of sperms in ductus deferens coincided with the maturation of seminiferous tubules. 3. In simple correlation between the values of testis weight and the values from various measurements in the ductus deferens, there was significant correlation coefficient with each other. 4. In the India ink absorption test, India ink granules were not absorbed on the epithelium of the ductus deferens, but the granules reactive to acid phosphatase a, pp.ared in a line on the free border of each parts of the ductus deferens. The granules reactive to alkaline phosphatase were noted on the luminal border of ductus deferens mainly, but weak reaction showed than acid phophatase were a, pp.ared. The granules reactive to PAS were a, pp.ared mostly near on the free border of hte epithelial cells of ductus deferens. 5. Number of sperm, Indes of sperm vitality and MRT in the different parts of ductus deferens were tended to be somewhat dominant in the mid and lower parts than in u, pp.r part, even though not significant in the statistical analysis. Ratio of sperm abnormality was tended to be relatively high in the u, pp.r part too, and in the sperm of abnormality blunted head was less in number significantly in the mid and lower part than in the u, pp.r part.
