현상학적, 생태학적 비판에 기초한 영상기억의 타당성 (Validating Iconic Memory According to the Phenomenological and Ecological Criticisms)

  • 영상기억은 시각기억 처리 과정의 최초 저장 기제로서 오랫동안 이론적인 타당성을 인정받아왔다. 그러나 최근 관심이 대폭 증가한 시각단기기억과 시각장기기억에 비해 영상기억에 대한 연구자들의 관심은 상대적으로 부족했던 것이 사실이다. 이러한 관심의 부족은 영상기억 및 시각지속 현상에 대한 이론 및 방법론적 이해의 결여가 그 원인인 것으로 짐작된다. 본 연구는 영상기억 및 시각지속 현상에 대한 이론적 배경과 경험적 연구 사례를 개관해 영상기억에 대한 상세한 이해를 도모하였다. 더 나아가 영상기억의 타당성에 대한 현상학적, 생태학적 비판들의 핵심 내용들을 토대로 향후 영상기억 연구의 방향을 가늠하는데 목적을 두었다.

Analysis of Effect by Duration of Cryotherapy in the Posterior region of Neck for College Students

  • Attention is a fundamental aspect in the cognitive process of human. Cognitive system of human body requires to focus on selected information among a vast amount of information from sensory organs. It has widely studied that various environmental factors affected the level of attention; however, few researches have aimed to the effect of direct cryotherapy. In this research, level of attention was studied comparing sub-indexes of FAIR test between groups with different duration of direct cryotheapy to the back of neck. FAIR test is a evaluation tool for visual attention consisting of three sub-indexes. Selective attention, accuracy of attention, and persistence of attention can be independently analyzed by FAIR test. In the analysis of selective attention, cryotherapy for 5 to 20 minutes showed higher result than cryotherapy for 40 minutes. In the analysis of persistence of attention, cryotherapy for 5 to 15 minutes showed higher result than cryotherapy for 40 minutes. Overall, selective attention and persistence of attention turns out to be maximized between 5 to 20 minutes of cryotherapy and tends to decrease afterwards. However, accuracy of attention does not seem to be affected by the duration of cryotherapy. Correlation between selective attention and the skin temperature by cryotherapy tends to be negative supporting the findings by ANOVA and post-hoc test. Correlation between persistence of attention and the skin temperature showed similar results.

How to Keep the Sustainability of the Landscape Resources of the East Coast in South Korea

  • The purpose of this study is to present the conditions and methods for keeping the sustainability of the landscape resources of the East Coast of Gangwon province, the Republic of Korea by investigating the landscape resources management in the area and pointing out its problems. The unit of analysis in this study is four cities and two counties located along the national road route seven in Gangwon province. The classification and characteristics of the landscape resources in this area was analyzed by a literature review, and we surveyed the tourists visiting the area and statistically analyzed the data in order to examine their satisfaction with the landscape resources management and make recommendations. The problems of the landscape resources management are: 1) the disturbance of the persistence of life by reclamation, the population reduction in the ecosystem due to the overload in environmental capacity, and the severance of space between land and water. 2) the reduction of the benefits from indirect experience by interfering with the conservation of fluxes --- the manipulation of horizontal arrangement of the landscape resource, the visual disturbance by the construction of high-storied buildings, and the disharmony between the color/image and the environment. The means for keeping sustainability of the landscape resources include the regulations of development and use, the change in the recognition of the value of landscape resources and the moral system, and the improvement of resource management skills.

동영상의 원리와 19세기 시각기구의 발전과정 - 잔상이론과 동영상의 과학적 발전에 대해 - (The Principle of Moving Image and the Development of the Optical Instruments in the 19th Century - On the Theory of Afterimage Effect and the Scientific Development of Moving Image -)

  • 본 논문은 영화의 출현 이전 19세기 시각기구들의 발전과정에 주목하여 동영상의 원리와 동영매체가 발전된 과정을 탐구하고자 한다. 이를 위해 본 논문은 잔상 이론이 본격적으로 연구되기 시작한 1820년대부터 1895년 영화의 발명에 이르기까지 시각 및 동영상기구들의 발전단계를 살펴보고, 동영상의 인지 원리로 알려진 '잔상효과(殘像效果)'(afterimage effect) 이론을 검토하고자 한다. 19세기 시각기구들은 소마트로프(Thaumatrope)-페나키스티스코프(Phenakistiscope) / 스트로보스코프(Stroboscope)-조이트로프(Zoetrope) -프락시노스코프(Praxinoscope)로 발전되었고, 1892년 투영식 프락시노스코프가 처음으로 동화(動畫)(moving pictures)를 스크린 위에 '움직임의 환상'(illusion of motion)으로 보여주었다. 이러한 시각기구들은 '잔상의 지속' 내지 '잔상효과'라고 알려진 이론을 근거로 발달되었지만, 20세기 초반 연구에 의하면, 동영상의 인지는 기존의 잔상 이론만으로는 설명이 부족하다는 것이 드러났다. 동영상의 인지에 관해 가장 유력한 설명 모델로서 인정받는 것은 인지심리학자 막스 베르트하이머(Max Wertheimer 1880-1943)의 1912년 실험·연구에 근거하는 '파이 현상'(Phi-phenomenon)이다. 또한, 동영상의 인지에서는 인간 눈의 특수한 시각적 인지체계가 작용하고 있으므로, 동영상의 인지 원리는 과학 지식과 더불어 재검토될 필요가 있다.

Volumetric 3D Display System Based on Rotating Dot-Matrix LEDs

  • A volumetric three-dimensional (3D) display system was presented, which utilizes a rotating two-dimensional (2D) display panel of light emitting diodes (LEDs) to generate more than 10 million volume pixels (voxels) within a cylindrical volume of 165 mm in height and 292 mm in diameter. Due to persistence of vision, momentarily addressed voxel information is perceived and fused into a 3D image. Important cues for depth perception, such as binocular parallax, accommodation, convergence and motion parallax are satisfied automatically and naturally, thus it is suitable for individual or group viewing, without the need for any special visual aids.

  • 인간은 사물에 대해 그릇된 지각을 할 때가 있는데 이를 착각이라고 하고, 시각을 통해 느끼는 착각을 착시(錯視)라고 한다. 이러한 착시를 대상으로 하는 연구와 실험은 심리학적인 측면에서 뿐만 아니라 회화, 디자인, 애니메이션 등 많은 예술의 장르에서 다른 형태로 발표되어 왔다. 본 논문에서는 회화와 디자인에 많은 영향을 준 옵아트와 착시의 일종인 잔상의 원리를 이용한 애니메이션의 기본개요를 정리하고 색의 명도와 채도 그리고 색의 대비와 밝기에 따라 나타나는 착시를 이용한 예술작품의 원리를 분석, 학생들을 대상으로 그들의 지각의 정도를 설문조사 하였다. 착시를 이용한 예술형태의 연구는 오랜 시간동안 예술의 중심장르로 간주된 회화와는 다른 그리고 애니메이션을 포함한 영상예술에 있어서 또 다른 표현양식의 길이라고 생각한다.

영상정보의 저장 공간 관리를 위한 동적/정적 객체 분리 및 시각암호화 메커니즘 (Dynamic / Static Object Segmentation and Visual Encryption Mechanism for Storage Space Management of Image Information)

  • Video surveillance data, which is used for preemptive or post-emptive action against any event or accident, is required for monitoring the location, but is reducing the capacity of the image data by removing intervals for cost reduction and system persistence. Such a video surveillance system is fixed in a certain position and monitors the area only within a limited angle, or monitors only the fixed area without changing the angle. At this time, the video surveillance system that is monitored only within a limited angle shows that the variation object such as the floating population shows different status in the image, and the background of the image maintains a generally constant appearance. The static objects in the image do not need to be stored in all the images, unlike the dynamic objects that must be continuously shot, and occupy a storage space other than the necessary ones. In this paper, we propose a mechanism to analyze the image, store only the small size image for the fixed background, and store it as image data only for variable objects.

Applying and Evaluating Visualization Design Guidelines for a MOOC Dashboard to Facilitate Self-Regulated Learning Based on Learning Analytics

  • With the help of learning analytics, MOOCs have wider potential to succeed in learning through promoting self-regulated learning (SRL). The current study aims to apply and validate visualization design guidelines for a MOOC dashboard to enhance such SRL capabilities based on learning analytics. To achieve the research objective, a MOOC dashboard prototype, LM-Dashboard, was designed and developed, reflecting the visualization design guidelines to promote SRL. Then, both expert and learner participants evaluated LM-Dashboard through iterations to validate the visualization design guidelines and perceived SRL effectiveness. The results of expert and learner evaluations indicated that most of the visualization design guidelines on LM-Dashboard were valid and some perceived SRL aspects such as monitoring a student's learning progress and assessing their achievements with time management were beneficial. However, some features on LM-Dashboard should be improved to enhance SRL aspects related to achieving their learning goals with persistence. The findings suggest that it is necessary to offer appropriate feedback or tips as well as to visualize learner behaviors and activities in an intuitive and efficient way for the successful cycle of SRL. Consequently, this study contributes to establishing a basis for the visual design of a MOOC dashboard for optimizing each learner's SRL.

Shaker운동을 병행한 바이오피드백 훈련이 삼킴장애가 있는 뇌졸중환자의 설골상근 근활성도에 미치는 영향 (Effects of Biofeedback Training with Shaker Exercise on the Suprahyoid muscle Activity of Stroke with Swallowing Disorder)

  • PURPOSE: The aim of this study was to determine how biofeedback training with Shaker exercise effects the activation of the cervical myocardial muscle in stroke with swallowing disorder. METHODS: From June 2018 to September 2018, 30 patients who were hospitalized at C hospital and K hospital in Daegu, and K hospital in Gumi were surveyed to meet the criteria for selection. The participants were classified into three groups, and Shaker exercise was applied three times a day, five times a week, for four weeks; visuoauditory biofeedback group (VABG), visual biofeedback group (VBG), and self-exercises group (SG). In addition, the suprahyoid muscle activity was performed three times (before intervention, after intervention, and after two weeks). RESULTS: The pre and post-test comparisons, revealed a significant difference between the three groups (p<.01); VABG had the highest suprahyoid muscle activity. The post-test and follow-up test produced similar results in, the three groups (p>.05). The mean comparison showed the smallest difference in VABG, indicating that muscle persistence was the best. CONCLUSION: Shaker exercise has an effect on suprahyoid muscle activation. Biofeedback training, which provides an input of multi-sensory information in swallowing disorder treatment is recommended because it has the greatest effect when combined with visuoauditory biofeedback.
