The aim of this study was to provide the 2 and 3 dimensional statistics requisite in the sizing system and design of gloves. The 64 2-dimensional static measurements were selected to provide information about hands. Participants in the study were 824 adults, aged between 18 and 64. To summarize the information from the measurement values, a Factor Analysis and a Cluster Analysis among multivariate analyses were performed. 3-D scanner was used for visual results of hand shape of each cluster. The results were as follows. Twenty-two items were used for the factor and cluster analysis in order to classify the adult hand shape. The variable quantities that are explained by a total of 3 factors amounted to under 79.37% of the variable quantities. The definition results of the factors related to the hands are as follows: Factor 1 is the horizontal dimension, the thickness of hand factor; Factor 2 is the height of the crotch; and Factor 3 is the vertical dimension of the hand. The adults' group hand was divided into 2 clusters according to a cluster analysis using factor scores. The characteristics according to hand type were as follows: Cluster 1 referred to high horizontal dimensions and thickness, rather small vertical dimensions and crotch height; and Cluster 2 represented the rather smaller horizontal dimensions and thickness but longer hand length than Type 1. To provide specific shape data of each cluster, 3-D scanner measurement was performed. 3-dimensional data base was developed for each cluster type and visual information was provided.
Background: This study aimed to determine the impact of complex decongestive therapy applications on upper extremity function in breast cancer patients who developed adhesive capsulitis after lymphedema. Methods: Thirty patients who developed adhesive capsulitis due to lymphedema were divided into two groups as study (n = 15) and control (n = 15) groups. Both groups received 20 minutes of exercise five days a week for three weeks using a Biodex isokinetic dynamometer, as well as a hot pack and TENS (Transcutaneous Electrical Nerve Stimulation) treatment to the shoulder joint. The study group received 45 minutes of intensive decongestive therapy along with the adhesive capsulitis treatment. The visual analogue scale was used to assess pain, circumference, and volumetric measurements were used to assess edema, and the Arm, Shoulder, and Hand Problems Questionnaire (DASH: Disabilities of the Arm, Shoulder, and Hand) was used to assess upper extremity functionality. The shoulder range of motion was evaluated. Results: Both groups had improvements in pain (P < 0.001), shoulder joint range of motion (P < 0.001), and upper extremity functionality (P < 0.001) after the treatment. There was a significant decrease in circumference and volumetric measurements in the study group (P < 0.001). However, no differences were seen in measurements in the control group. Conclusions: The results showed that complex decongestive therapy was beneficial in reducing lymphedema in breast cancer patients who acquired adhesive capsulitis due to lymphedema. Consequently, the authors believe that supplementing conventional physiotherapy with complex decongestive therapy will benefit patients.

Objective : The purpose of this study was to investigate the effects of task-oriented training with functional electrical stimulation on hand function in incomplete cervical cord injury. Method : The subjects of the study were 3 adults diagnosed as incomplete cervical cord injury. The design of this study was ABA single-subject research design to compare dominant hand function of before and after intervention and detect individual effects. The experiment consisted of 30sessions, in which baseline process A1 and A2 were implemented 5 sessions each for 10sessions. Intervention B was implemented 20 sessions. The dependent variable was converted to the change of hand function every session, and Canadian Occupational Performance Measure (COPM), Jebsen-Taylor Hand Function Test(JTHFT), Wolf Motor Function Test(WMFT) were selected for outcome measurements. Result analysis was suggested through visual analysis using a graph and comparison of pre, post and follow-up intervention measurements. Results : As a result, the quality and quantity of dominant hand function increased during intervention B compared to the baseline A1 for all subjects. Baseline A2 was also maintained without training. Additionally, JTHFT, WMFT and COPM scores demonstrated improvement and maintain. The follow up JTHFT and WMFT showed increased required time on all subjects and decrease or maintain task performance and satisfaction in COPM. Conclusion : The task-oriented training with function electrical stimulation in this study has been positive effects on hand function and task performance and satisfaction.
The purpose of this study is to give the guideline to the pattern designing by supplying various images of the transformed shape of tailored collar with the location and angle of gorge line and laying measurement of the tailored collar while designing the tailored collar. The results of this study are as follows : Images of the sample at the case of 1cm of laying measurement looks 'urban', 'light', 'sharp', 'young', 'fashionable' and 'narrow' than that at the case of 7cm. When the laying measurement increases, the image of the sample looks more 'classical' and 'boorish'. The image of the sample 'light', 'sensuous' and 'young' at the case of sample of which laying measurements of the collar was 3cm. Second, at the case of sample whose laying measurements of the collar was 5cm, it was shown that the low location of gorge line made the image of the sample 'soft' and 'short'. On the other hand the image of the sample looked 'hard', 'keen' and 'long' by the high location of gorge line. Third, at the case of sample of which laying measurements of the collar was 7cm, low location of gorge line made the image of the sample look short. However, normal location of gorge line made the image of the sample looked 'fashionable'. The images of the samples of which laying measurements of the collar were 3cm, 5cm and 7cm, respectively, had changed with the angle of gorge line. First, the high angle of gorge line made the image of the sample 'rigid' and 'keen' at the case of sample of which laying measurements of the collar was 3cm. The high angle of gorge line made the image of the sample looked 'boorish' and 'singular'.

The purpose of the study is to prevent pain and malfunction of the hand by correcting the angle of holding a smartphone. Subjects comprised of 21 healthy students. This research was conducted from April 21 2014 to April 27 2014. The three groups were as follows: first group included 7 students who held the phone at an angle of 90 degrees without a sling, and second group included 7 students who held the smartphone at an angle of 90 degrees with a sling; and the third group included 7 students who held the smartphone at an angle of 120 degrees with a sling. VAS was measured through the Finkelstein Test. Also, pain rating and muscle strength were assessed four times 30 minutes before and after the experiment for one and a half hour with pinch grip, dynamometer, and visual analogue scale. Smartphone was used. In all of the measurements, period showed a significant difference (p<.05) between both sides and a significant difference was not found between the group. In the time ${\times}$ group, pain score and grip strength were significantly different in the right side only (p<.05). According to the results of this experiment, providing support to the hand helps to increase the hand function by reducing the stress.

Objective: The purpose of this study was to investigate how light touch with a finger affects balance ability when a posture is maintained in the condition of visual information blockage and to provide a fundamental material for developing balance ability in the process of rehabilitation treatment. Design: Cross-sectional study. Methods: The study subjects were 17 healthy men and women in their twenties and thirties who were studying at S University in Seoul. The system was comprised of an equilateral triangular force platform. Subjects were asked to step on the foot position of the force platform (Good Balance, Finland) barefooted for 30 seconds, with eyes closed, hands hanging down loosely, and feet comfortably apart. It was connected to a laptop by using Bluetooth technology. An experiment was conducted in the following three circumstances: 1) no-touch trial, 2) light touch to the back (T7 area), and 3) light touch to the middle finger of the left hand. Each subject was given a 10-minute break between consecutive measurements. The experimental circumstances were performed randomly. Anteroposterior sway (APSV), mediolateral sway velocity (MLSV), and velocity moment (VM) were measured. Results: The APSVs (mm/s) were $9.32{\pm}3.37$ and $5.45{\pm}2.98$; the MLSVs (mm/s), $6.39{\pm}3.35$ and $3.31{\pm}2.48$; and VM ($mm^2/s$), $17.13{\pm}11.75$ and $6.76{\pm}8.31$ in the first and second experimental circumstances, respectively. APSV, MLSV, and VM values were significantly improved with the 1) no-touch trial and 2) light touch to the back trail conditions compared with the 3) light touch to the middle finger of the left hand condition (p<0.05). Conclusions: This study revealed that the balance ability for maintaining a body posture was influenced more by light touch to the back (T7) than by light touch with the sensitive fingertip and body sway diminished after visual information was blocked.
Purpose: This study compared the different sling and resistance exercises on pelvic rotation during active straight leg raises (ASLR) and on pain in patients with chronic low back pain (CLBP). Methods: Twenty subjects were divided randomly into a sling group (SG) and a resistance exercise group (REG). Internal oblique (IO), external oblique (EO), rectus abdominis (RA), and rectus femoris (RF) muscle activity; pelvic rotation angle during ASLR; and visual analogue scale, pressure pain threshold were measured. Sling and resistance exercises were then performed for 30 minutes and the measurements taken again. Results: Both groups showed significantly lower RF muscle activity and significantly higher EO and IO muscle activity (p<0.05). The RA muscle activity decreased significantly in the SG, but increased significantly in the REG (p<0.05). The pelvic rotation angle was significantly lower in the SG (p<0.05). The pain press threshold increased significantly in both groups (p<0.05). The visual analogue scale decreased significantly in the SG (p<0.05). Conclusion: Both exercises appear to be beneficial for modifying the muscle activity and pain control in the intervention of CLBP. On the other hand, the sling was more effective in increasing the pressure threshold than resistance exercise, and the pelvic rotation angle was reduced. Therefore, both exercises can help patients with CLBP change their muscle activity and control pain. CLBP patients should use a sling for short periods of time to learn to reduce the pain and control pelvic rotation.

Various treatments can be attempted in patients with intractable epilepsy, in whom the symptoms of seizures are not controlled by various drugs. On the other hand, in patients requiring a surgical method, a preoperative examination is needed to determine the portion of seizure site to be resected. Electrodes are inserted into the cerebral cortex for accurate lesion measurements and safe operation. The electrodes inserted in the cortex not only record the electroencephalography (EEG), but also allow various tests to confirm the function of the part. One of these methods is the evoked potential test. From January 2015 to December 2018, the trends of measured waveforms in were analyzed 70 patients. The somatosensory evoked potential (SSEP) recorded on the electrode inserted in the cerebral cortex can be searched for the pathway of the central sulcus to avoid the primary motor area and primary sensory area. In addition, using the middle latency auditory evoked potentials (MLAEP) and flash visual evoked potentials (FVEP), the functional cortex in the auditory cortex and the visual cortex were compared with the seizure focus point on the EEG to help determine the location of the ablation and minimize functional impairment after surgery.
Purpose: In watching 3D stereoscopic display using the binocular disparity, effect of difference of the pupillary distance between the adults and children on the perception of depth were investigated. Methods: The average PD of children was determined from the PD measurements of children of the elementary school of 2nd and 3rd grade in Seoul. The location of crossing visual axes were derived from the relation of the binocular disparity and the PD for the adults and children. Results: The average PD of the children was measured to be 57.3 mm which was smaller than the average PD of the adults that was known to be about 65 mm. As the binocular disparity increases to the positive direction, the crossing location steeply moves farther behind the screen. On the other hand, when the binocular disparity increases to the negative direction, the crossing location gradually moves toward the viewer. For the same amount of the binocular disparity, the crossing locations were derived to be larger for the children than the adults due to the difference of the PD. Therefore, children will perceive larger depth than the adults. Conclusions: Small PD of the viewer causes the larger amount of the depth perception. In producing the stereoscopic images, the average PD of children as well as adults need to be considered.
