Inspection of Automotive Oil-Seals Using Artificial Neural Network and Vision System (인공신경망과 비전 시스템을 이용한 자동차용 오일씰의 검사)

  • The Classification of defected oil-seals using a vision system with the artificial neural network is presented. The artificial neural network fur classification consists of 27 input nodes, 10 hidden nodes, and one output node. The selection of the number of the input nodes is based on an observation that the difference among the defected, non-defected, and smeared oil-seals is greatly pronounced in the 26 step gray-scale level thresholding. The number of the hidden nodes is chosen as a result of a trade-off between accuracy and computing time. The back-propagation algorithm is used for teaching the network. The proposed network is capable of successfully classifying the defected from the smeared oil-seals which tend to be classified as the defected ones using the binary thresholding. It is envisaged that the proposed method improves the reliability and productivity of the automotive vision inspection system.

  • The research of combining virtual reality technology with the design elements of children's picture book education is a relatively new topic in virtual reality technology in recent years. Based on the combination of picture book design elements with virtual reality technology and the development of a children's picture book teaching game, this article analyzes the effectiveness of the application of virtual reality technology in children's teaching, and explores the usability of picture book design elements in teaching [1]. Through literature research methods, practical research methods and investigation research methods, this paper lucubrates the application of virtual reality technology in the design elements of children's picture book education so as to provide adequate theoretical and practical support for the research theme. The spatial positioning, vision, sound, and functional requirements of children's picture book games play a leading role in teaching. Practical statistics have proved that it is easier to promote children's mastery of teaching knowledge in a virtual environment. Moreover, use VR's game management function and setting function to solve the boringness of traditional education methods and the limitations of the teaching environment. The feasibility of game operation provides a virtual teaching platform system for children's education, and the teaching effect is remarkable.

How Many Korean Middle-school Students Find the Same Scientific Problem as Kepler Found in Optics and Physiology?

  • The aims of this study are to investigate how Kepler found a scientific problem for the retinal image theory and to investigate how Korean middle-school students respond when the same situation is applied to them. Kepler found the scientific problem in the eye vision through the critical analysis of contemporary theories of vision, based on his relevant knowledge of optics. When the same situation was applied to the Korean middle-school students, only a few students found the same scientific problem as Kepler. From the results, it is suggested that in developing creativity teaching materials, situations like Kepler's problem finding need to be included in programs.

  • This study analyzed on web services status of World Class College(WCC)'s Teaching and Learning Center. WCC refers to colleges equipped with educational environment which can accommodate the needs of industry and growth potential and vision. Web services of WCC's Teaching and Learning Center consist of center introduction, teaching support, learning support, service, and specialized menu. This study analyzed on menu and specialized web services from 9 colleges out of total 21 colleges. This study is to propose a way of Teaching and Learning Center's web services which college's Teaching and Learning Center aims at by analyzing on web services of World Class College's teaching and learning center.

  • A master-slave system is proposed as a teaching device for a dual arm robot. The slave robots are remotely controlled by two delta-type master arms. In order to help the operator to observe the target object from the desired position and desired direction, cameras are mounted on a specialized manipulator, Movements of two slave arms are coordinated with that of the cameras. Due to this coordinated movements, the operator needs not to care the geometrical relation between the cameras and the slave robots.

  • In this paper, we present a new approach for the automation of deburring process. An algorithm for teaching skills of a human expert to a robot manipulator is developed. This approach makes use of TSK fuzzy model that can express a highly nonlinear functional relation with small number of rules. Burr features such as height, width, area, cutting area are extracted from image processing by use of the vision system. Cutting depth, repeative number and normal cutting force are chosen as control signals representing actions of the human expert. It is verified that our processed fuzzy model can accurately express the skills of human experts for the deburring process.

  • The story treats each individual's vision as well as social reality that the author intends to describe. The purpose of this article is to search for the conflict between vision and reality, especially in feminist problem that critics have treated on the works of women writers. Though some articles have studied on the issue similar to this article, I try to analyze the narratives in the text that the author herself confesses to us. I think that we can find out clear messages from the individuals who construct the human relationship and build up their personal history through their dialogue or monologue. We can also catch their main problems in the community. I discuss the topic by mentioning the detailed discourses referred to the heroine and other characters in the text. The passages mentioned by the characters in the story may be a confession for the present and future generation that the author tries to confess. From the excerpts of some discourse, I can conclude that though Dorothea has a vision for her ideal, she is a failed feminist, for society is too strong for her as Miller (1990) argues.

  • The reform movements of current mathematics education have based on several major ideas, in order to provide a new vision of the teaching and loaming of mathematics. Of the ideas, the motto of communication of mathematics appears to be a significant factor to change teaching practices in mathematics classroom. Through Vygotsky's sociocultural theory, the psychological background is presented for both supporting the motto and extracting important suggestions of the reform of mathematics education. The development of higher mental functions is explained by internalization, semiotic mediation, and the zone of proximal development. Above all, emphasis is put on the concepts of scaffolding and inter subjectivity related to the zone of proximal development. Seven implications are proposed by Vygotsky's sociocultural theory for the new forms of the teaching and learning of mathematics.

  • In mathematics, the concept of convolution is widely used. The convolution operation is required for understanding computer vision and deep learning in artificial intelligence. Therefore, it is vital for this concept to be explained in college mathematics education. In this paper, we present our new teaching and learning materials on convolution available for engineering mathematics. We provide the knowledge and applications on convolution with Python-based code, and introduce Convolutional Neural Network (CNN) used for image classification as an example. These materials can be utilized in class for the teaching of convolution and help students have a good understanding of the related knowledge in artificial intelligence.
