Fluorene and carbazole-containing distyrylarylene model and polymeric fluorophores were prepared by reacting 2,7-dibromo-9-butylfluorene and 3,6-dibromo-9-butylcarbazole with styrene and divinylbenzene using the Heck reaction for the chemiluminesc ence. The UV-vis absorbance, photoluminescence (PL) as well as the chemiluminescence (CL) characteristics of the model and polymeric fluorophores were measured. Sodium salicylate-catalyzed reaction of bis(2,4,6-trichlorophenyl)oxalate (TCPO) with hydrogen peroxide produced a strong chemiluminescent blue light emission with 439-489 nm in the presence of the fluorophore. The wave-length of CL light was similar to that of photoluminescence. The chemiluminescent intensity was decayed according to the exponential equation. The glow of CL maintained more than 12 hr and was visible with naked eye.
A series of new NLO-active poly(4-nitrophenylallylamine) derivatives was synthesized by the nucleophilic substitution reaction of several substituted 4-nitrohalobenzenes and poly(allylamine hydrochloride). All polymers obtained were amorphous and their glass transition temperatures (Tg) were observed around 148-160 ℃. For each of these polymers, their specific Tg values were dependent on characteristic electronic structures. UV-visible absorption spectra showed maximum absorption intensity at 355-393 nm for π-π* transition of alkylaminonitrophenyl groups. The χ(2)value of poly(4-nitrophenylallylamine), as determined by the second harmonic generation at 1064 nm, for a thin polymer film poled at an elevated temperature, was 1.4x10-8esu. The third-order NLO properties of poly(4-nitrophenylallylamine) derivatives were evaluated through measurement of degenerate four-wave mixing technique and χ(3) coefficient in the range of 2.7~3.2x10-12 esu at 602 nm was found with 400 fs laser pulses.
Distributed Bragg reflector porous silicon of different characteristics were formed to determine their optical constants in the visible wavelength range using a periodic square wave current between low and high current densities. The surface and cross-sectional SEM images of distributed Bragg reflector porous silicon were obtained using a cold field emission scanning electron microscope. The surface image of distributed Bragg reflector porous silicon indicates that the distributions of pores are even. The cross-sectional image illustrates that the multilayer of distributed Bragg reflector porous silicon exhibits a depth of few microns and applying of square current density during the etching process results two distinct refractive indices in the contrast. Distributed Bragg reflector porous silicon exhibited a porosity depth profile that related directly to the current-time profile used in etch. Its free-standing film was obtained by applying an electro-polishing current.
Background: The intelligent tissue hypothesis holds that an organ's states (be it normal function or stressed states) are reflected in real time at its related acupuncture points (acupoints), causing physical, real-time changes in the local tissue. The experiment was devised to test this. Methods: The patient drank chilled water while the impedance at 6 stomach-related acupoints was monitored in real time (sample rate of 1 kHz). Any changes in the local tissue at the acupoints ought to be reflected in changes in the impedance. Results: The impedance at every test acupoint showed a response to the chilled water being ingested. Also, the duodenal pacesetter and the stomach's slow waves were clearly visible in the impedance pattern at all the acupoints. Conclusion: Hence, many separate details of the stomach's function were reflected at these acupoints. The duodenal features were consistent with the traditional indications for these acupoints, which are noted to be able to treat intestinal conditions. Therefore, the results were consistent with the hypothesis and also provided a possible explanation for how the use of these acupoints is able to treat intestinal conditions.
Many studies have been conducted to ensure that Visual Place Recognition is reliable in various environments, including edge cases. However, existing approaches use visible imaging sensors, RGB cameras, which are greatly influenced by illumination changes, as is widely known. Thus, in this paper, we use an invisible imaging sensor, a long wave length infrared camera (LWIR) instead of RGB, that is shown to be more reliable in low-light and highly noisy conditions. In addition, although the camera sensor used to solve this problem is an LWIR camera, but since the thermal image is converted into RGB image the proposed method is highly compatible with existing algorithms and databases. We demonstrate that the proposed method outperforms the baseline method by about 0.19 for recall performance.
The electronic band structures of Metal-doped titanium dioxide, M-doped $TiO_2$ (M=Co, Cr, Fe), have been studied by using XRD, UV-vis diffuse reflectance spectrometer and FP-LAPW (Full-Potential Linearized Augmented-Plane-Wave) method. The UV-vis of M-doped $TiO_2$ (M=Co, Cr, Fe) showed two absorption edges; the main edge due to the titanium dioxide at 387 nm and a shoulder due to the doped metals at around 560 nm. The band gap energies of Co, Cr and Fe-doped $TiO_2$ calculated by FP-LAPW method were 2.6, 2.0, and 2.5 eV, respectively. The theoretically calculated band gap energy of $TiO_2$ by using FP-LAPW method was the same as experimental results. FP-LAPW method will be useful for fabrication and development of photo catalysts working under visible light.
In nowadays, the infrared optics is frequently employed to various fields such as military, aerospace, industry and medical. To develop the infrared optics, special glasses which can transmit infrared wave are required. Ge(Germanium), Si(silicon), and fluoride glasses are typically used for material of the infrared optics. Compared with Ge and Si glasses, fluoride glasses have high transmittance in infrared wavelength range. Additionally, UV(ultraviolet) and visible light can be transmitted through fluoride glasses. There characteristics of fluoride glasses makes it possible to evaluate optical performance with generally used visible testing equipment. In this paper, we used design of experiment to find ultra precision machining characteristic of Ge and fluoride glasses and optimized machining process to obtain required form accuracy of PV(Peak to Valley) $0.2\;{\mu}m$.
