  • As the virtual reality technology, which has been attracting attention recently in the era of the fourth industrial revolution, is spreading and spreading throughout the society, expectation about virtual reality is gradually increasing. The major big companies such as Samsung and LG in Korea are concentrating on R &D and early ecosystem composition of virtual reality field as well as large global corporations such as Google and Facebook. But in Korea, the environment is not well equipped to compete with the global market and although there are many SMEs and start-up companies related to virtual reality, there are few successful companies. In this study, we analyze the domestic and foreign virtual reality market and industry and present ways of activation on virtual reality industry. We analysis by PEST analysis, SWAT and competitive structure analysis.Based on the analyzed results, ways to revitalize the virtual reality industry are suggested in this paper.

  • This paper proposes a method for reusing kinematic design data for virtual facilities, Making a virtual model of a facility involves two major activities: geometric design (virtual model visualization) and kinematic design that should be remodeled frequently whenever design changes occur, Conventionally, a virtual model of an automated facility focuses on the design level, which mainly deals with design verification, alternative comparison, and geometric model diagnosis, Although a design level model can be designed with the information of past models from PLM system, a simulation level model is not sufficient utilized to be reused for kinematic design purpose, We propose a method for reusing kinematic information of a past simulation model to cope with this problem, We use the concept or the 'center of mass', which is a point representing the mean position of the matter in a body or system. And we also use comparison method of a boundary box to identity which 3D objects have to be involved from the design model to a link structure that is contained in the simulation model. Because a proposed method only use not a historical approach but a geometrical approach, it is more effective to apply to the field.

  • A virtual arthroscopy is a simulation of optical arthroscopy that reconstructs anatomical structures from tomographic images in joint region such as a knee, a shoulder and a wrist. In this paper, we propose a virtual arthroscopy based on isosurface raycasting, which is a kind of volume rendering methods for generating 3D images within a short time. Our method exploits a spatial data structure called min-max map to produce high-quality images in near real-time. Also we devise a physically-based camera control model using potential field. So a virtual camera can fly through in articular cavity without restriction. Using the high-speed rendering method and realistic camera control model, we developed a virtual arthroscopy system.

  • Persona means the mask of personality where the internal ego exposes itself to the outside. The complicated structure and diversity of contemporary society has provided men with a more variegated and diversified persona; in addition, advancements in internet and information communications creates the possibility for the emergence of more variegated and new persona. This study probes the persona of virtual space expressed in fashion designs; subsequently, this study reviews the concept and various characteristics of persona and examines the type of persona in the virtual space from the perspective of the manifestation of identity. The type of persona in the virtual space canbe categorized into flexible identity and falsified identity; subsequently, the characteristics and meanings of virtual space persona in fashion designs are analyzed. Flexible identity-oriented personas expressed in fashion designs are revealed through the images of animals or dolls. This is a childlike persona expression that expresses ego through other substances in an effort to express infantile substances such as dreams and fantasy cherished in childhood. Falsified identity-oriented personas are expanded as a realm of expression of the body and the realities are camouflaged as transformed persona. Negating existence itself by covering the eyes or face as well as the concealment of the body with masks or veils is an expression of a self-denying persona.

  • A virtual studio is a new video production environment using interactive computer graphics and imaging media technology. The traditional chroma-keying with two-dimensional background is replaced by an advanced keying method with a dynamic computer-generated, three-dimensional background. We have developed a virtual studio system that is practical to use in the real production environment. It has not only essential features that are common among various commercial virtual studio systems, but also unique feature that help the producer to construct virtual studio sets and scenarios efficiently such as span graph, robust backup controller, and 3 dimensional character generator supporting all languages. Our virtual studio system was used in live broadcasting and proved that the system was practical enough. In this paper, we will introduce the structure and the major features of our system, called VdreamSet, and application examples to broadcasting.

  • Internet chat programs and instant messaging services are becoming increasingly popular among Internet users. One of the crucial issues with Internet chat is how to manage the corresponding pairs of questions and answers in a sequence of conversations. Although many novel methodologies have been introduced to cope with this problem, most are poor in managing interruptions, organizing turn-taking, and conveying comprehension. The Internet environment is recently evolving into a 3D environment, but the problems with managing chat dialogues with the standard 2D text-based chat have remained. Therefore, we propose a more realistic communication model for chat agents in 3D virtual space in this paper. First, we propose a new method to measure the capacity of communication between chat agents and a novel visualization method to depict the hierarchical structure of chat dialogues. In addition, we are concerned with communication networks for virtual people (avatars) living in virtual worlds. In this paper we consider a microscopic aspect of a social network in a relatively short period of time. Our experiments show that our model is highly effective in a virtual chat environment, and the communication network based on our model greatly facilitates investigation of a very large and complicated communication network.

  • Isolation between virtual machines in a cloud computing environment is an important security factor. The violation of isolation between virtual machines leads to interferences of shared resources and the implementation of covert channels. In this paper, the structure of Hyper-V hypervisor is analyzed to implement covert channels between virtual machines. Hyper-V uses a mutex technique for mutual exclusion between virtual machines. It indicates that isolation of virtual machines is violated and covert channels can be implemented due to mutex. We implemented several covert channels by designing a method for searching mutex resources applicable to Hyper-V with complex architectures. The mutex-based covert channel is not hardware dependent. If the covert channel is detected or defended, the defensive technique can be avoided by using the other covert channel among several covert channels.

  • The construction of virtual indoor spaces is crucial for the development of metaverses, virtual production, and other 3D content domains. Traditional methods for creating these spaces are often cost-prohibitive and labor-intensive. To address these challenges, we present a pipeline for generating digital twins of real indoor environments from RGB-D camera-scanned data. Our pipeline synergizes space structure estimation, 3D object detection, and the inpainting of missing areas, utilizing deep learning technologies to automate the creation process. Specifically, we apply deep learning models for object recognition and area inpainting, significantly enhancing the accuracy and efficiency of virtual space construction. Our approach minimizes manual labor and reduces costs, paving the way for the creation of metaverse spaces that closely mimic real-world environments. Experimental results demonstrate the effectiveness of our deep learning applications in overcoming traditional obstacles in digital twin creation, offering high-fidelity digital replicas of indoor spaces. This advancement opens for immersive and realistic virtual content creation, showcasing the potential of deep learning in the field of virtual space construction.

  • This research studies real time interaction and dynamic data shared through 3D scenes in virtual network environments. In a distributed virtual environment of client-server structure, consistency is maintained by the static information exchange; as jerks occur by packet delay when updating messages of dynamic data exchanges are broadcasted disorderly, the network bottleneck is reduced by predicting the movement path by using the Dead-reckoning algorithm. In Dead-reckoning path prediction, the error between the estimated and the actual static values which is over the threshold based on the shared object location requires interpolation and multicasting of the previous location by the ESPDU of DIS. The shared dynamic data of the 3D virtual environment is implementation using the VRML.

  • Advanced digital computer technology enables the computer-based controllers to replace the traditional analog controllers used in factory automations. This replacement, however, brings up the side effects caused by the quantization error and non-real-time execution of control software. This paper describes the structure of real-time simulator and controller that can be used for design and verification of real-time digital controllers. The virtual machine concept adopted by the proposed real-time simulator makes the proposed simulator be independent from the specific hardware platforms. The proposed system can also be used in the loosely coupled distributed environments connected through local area network using real-time message passing algorithm and virtual data table based on the shared memory mechanism.
