  • In this paper, the analysis and design of a motion simulator (based on the approach taken by interactive virtual reality (VR) entertainment systems) is conducted. The main components of the system include a bilateral control interface, simulation and a motion simulator control scheme. The space entertainment system uses a virtual environment that enables operators to feel the actual feedback sensing and distorted motion from the virtual environment, just as they would in the real environment. The space entertainment system integrates the dynamics of the motion simulator and the virtual environment and the operator maneuvers a steering wheel to interact with the system. The multiple bilateral control schemes employ a dynamical controller, which is designed by considering the velocity and acceleration that the operator imposes on the joystick, the environmental changes imposed on the motion simulator. In addition, we develop a calculated method to evaluate the Ratio of the simulation results. It is shown that the proposed control scheme can improve the performance of the visual entertainment system. Experiments are conducted on the virtual reality entertainment system to validate the theoretical developments.

  • This paper proposes a method for constructing and verifying datasets used in deep learning technology, to prevent safety accidents in automated construction machinery or autonomous vehicles. Although open datasets for developing image recognition technologies are challenging to meet requirements desired by users, this study proposes the interface of virtual simulators to facilitate the creation of training datasets desired by users. The pixel-level training image dataset was verified by creating scenarios, including various road types and objects in a virtual environment. Detecting an object from an image may interfere with the accurate path determination due to occlusion areas covered by another object. Thus, we construct a database, for developing an occlusion area detection algorithm in a virtual environment. Additionally, we present the possibility of its use as a deep learning dataset to calculate a grid map, that enables path search considering occlusion areas. Custom datasets are built using the RDBMS system.

  • In this paper, we focus on a novel Internet architecture, based on the urbanization of virtual machines. In this approach, virtual networks are built linking specific virtual elements (router, switch, firewall, box, access point, etc.). A virtual network represents a network with an independent protocol stack that shares resources from the underlying network infrastructure. Virtualization divides a real computational environment into virtual computational environments that are isolated from each other, and interact with the upper computational layer, as would be expected from a real, non-virtualized environment. Metamorphic networks enhance several concepts related to future networks, and mainly the urbanization of virtual machines. We present this new paradigm, and the methodology, based on the worldwide metamorphic network platform "M-Net". The metamorphic approach could solve many complex problems, especially related to Cloud computing services.

  • At present, the virtual prototyping technology for complex product is one of the research and application hotspots in current simulation technology. In authors viewpoint, the virtual prototype development for complex product has become a systematic engineering, which can be called the complex product virtual prototyping engineering (CPVPE). In this paper, the architecture, key technologies and its supporting environment of CPVPE are primary discussed firstly. Combined with the research project and primary practice undertaken by the authors, a typical application demonstration of the aerospace complex product virtual prototyping engineering (including mechanism, dynamics, software and control system) is also introduced based on the virtual prototype supporting environment developed by the authors. Finally, some further research works on CPVPE are also presented in this paper.

  • Immersive virtual reality provides an effective way of visualizing and analyzing various spatial data, such as wireline logs, three-dimensional seismic, and interpreted geologic boundaries, and etc. Although it is a valuable tool for oil and gas exploration, its usage has been limited to a specific area because of its high development costs. This paper describes the development of an immersive virtual reality system, known as CAVE (Cave Automatic Virtual Environment) that maximizes immersiveness with reasonable prices by using general purpose PC and projectors.

  • This study is to explain the importance and the necessity of virtual cyber-tour in a virtual reality environment, and to present a way of its realization as a mean to surmount the fundamental constraints in current tourism, arising mainly from the individual health, cost, leisure time, and the low perception on tourism culture. This virtual cyber-tour using virtual reality technology will not only provide various indirect tour experiences to the existing tour resources, but also develop a new type of tour system, leading to new worlds which have not been accessible to the Public because of various restrictions coming from the current technology, transportation means, and physical limit's of human body.

  • Acrophobia is an abnormal fear of heights. Medications or cognitive-behavior methods have been mainly used as a treatment. Lately the virtual reality technology has been applied to that kind of anxiety disorders. A virtual environment provides patient with stimuli which arouses phobia, and exposing to that environment makes him having ability to over come the fear. In this study, the elevator stimulator that composed with a position sensor, head mount display, and audio system, is suggested. To illustrate the physiological difference between a person who has a feel of phobia and without phobia, heart rate was measured during experiment. And also measured a person's HR after the virtual reality training and in a real building elevator. In this study, we demonstrated the subjective effectiveness of virtual reality psychotherapy through the clinical experiment.

  • Nowadays, one of the major technical issues in manufacturing is how to implement an virtual plant as an well-designed, integrated environment for sharing information and engineering collaboration among diverse engineering activities. The systematic approaches to make a virtual plant based on a 3-dimensional CAD, cell and line simulation, database and internet technologies are proposed in this paper. To do that, measuring and 3D CAD modeling technologies of many equipments, facilities and structures of the building are developed, effective management of information including models and related files in WWW environment is implemented, and precise simulations of unit cell and whole structured plant are performed. For the beginning of implementing a Virtual Automotive Plant, the Virtual Plant for the Body Shop of a Korean automotive company is constructed and implemented, Using this Virtual Plant ...

  • The Simple Virtual Environment (SVE) library is the application programming interface fur creating the virtual environment easily. Even though it has a lot of efficient features, applying transformation to absolutely positioned objects is difficult. In this paper, we designed a simple method with which it is possible to rotate the absolutely positioned object freely. To test the method, we designed a simple virtual environment. The environment is designed with people, street and building objects. To reduce time consumption of displaying high-detailed people models, we only used texture-based objects. The person objects are modeled as quadric-shape and textured with front-view images of people. To make more realistic environment, objects always change its orientation themselves following to the user location. The result and the testing environment will be demonstrated.
