Structural integrity of either a passenger car or a light truck is one of the basic requirements for a full vehicle engineering and development program. The results of the vehicle product performance are measured in terms of durability, noise/vibration/harshness (NVH), crashworthiness and passenger safety. The level of performance of a vehicle directly affects the marketability, profitability and, most importantly, the future of the automobile manufacturer. In this study, we used the Virtual Proving Ground (VPG) approach for obtaining the dynamic stress or strain history and distribution. The VPG uses a nonlinear, dynamic, finite element code (LS-DYNA) which expands the application boundary outside classic linear, static assumptions. The VPG approach also uses realistic boundary conditions of tire/road surface interactions. To verify the predicted dynamic stress and fatigue critical region, a single bump run test, road load simulation, and field test have been performed. The prediction results were compared with experimental results, and the feasibility of the integrated life prediction methodology was verified.

In this study, we used the virtual proving ground(VPG) approach for obtaining the dynamic characteristics. The prediction results were compared with the experimental test results, and the feasibility of the integrated CAE analysis methodology was verified.
This article deals with the flexural analysis of anti-symmetric cross-ply laminated plates under nonlinear thermal loading using a refined plate theory with four variables. In this theory, the undetermined integral terms are used and the number of variables is reduced to four, instead of five or more in other higher-order theories. The boundary conditions on the top and the bottom surfaces of the plate are satisfied; hence the use of the transverse shear correction factors is avoided. The principle of virtual work is used to obtain governing equations and boundary conditions. Navier solution for simply supported plates is used to derive analytical solutions. For the validation of the present theory, numerical results for displacements and stresses are compared with those of classical, first-order, higher-order and trigonometric shear theories reported in the literature.
The uncertainty in WindCube LIDAR measurements, which are specific to wind profiling at less than 200m above ground levelin wind resource assessments, was analyzed focusing on the error caused by its volume sampling principle. A two-month SODAR measurement campaign conducted in an urban environment was adopted as the reference wind profile assuming that various atmospheric boundary layer shapes had been captured. The measurement error of LIDAR at a height z was defined as the difference in the wind speeds between the SODAR reference data, which was assumed to be a virtually true value, and the numerically averaged wind speed for a sampling volume height interval of $z{\pm}12.5m$. The pattern of uncertainty in the measurement was found to have a maximum in the lower part of the atmospheric boundary layer and decreased with increasing height. It was also found that the relative standard deviations of the wind speed error ratios were 6.98, 2.70 and 1.12% at the heights of 50, 100 and 150m above ground level, respectively.
In this paper, a refined shear deformation plate theory which eliminates the use of a shear correction factor was presented for FG sandwich plates composed of FG face sheets and an isotropic homogeneous core. The theory accounts for parabolic distribution of the transverse shear strains and satisfies the zero traction boundary conditions on the surfaces of the plate. The mechanical properties of the plate are assumed to vary continuously in the thickness direction by a simple power-law distribution in terms of the volume fractions of the constituents. Based on the present refined shear deformation plate theory, the governing equations of equilibrium are derived from the principle of virtual displacements. Numerical illustrations concern buckling behavior of FG sandwiches plates with Metal-Ceramic composition. Parametric studies are performed for varying ceramic volume fraction, volume fraction profiles, Boundary condition, and length to thickness ratios. The accuracy of the present solutions is verified by comparing the obtained results with the existing solutions.
A finite strip formulation was developed for buckling and free vibration analysis of laminated composite plates based on different shear deformation plate theories. The different shear deformation theories such as Zigzag higher order, Refined Plate Theory (RPT) and other higher order plate theories by variation of transverse shear strains through plate thickness in the parabolic form, sine and exponential were adopted here. The two loaded opposite edges of the plate were assumed to be simply supported and remaining edges were assumed to have arbitrary boundary conditions. The polynomial shape functions are applied to assess the in-plane and out-of-plane deflection and rotation of the normal cross-section of plates in the transverse direction. The finite strip procedure based on the virtual work principle was applied to derive the stiffness, geometric and mass matrices. Numerical results were obtained based on various shear deformation plate theories to verify the proposed formulation. The effects of length to thickness ratios, modulus ratios, boundary conditions, the number of layers and fiber orientation of cross-ply and angle-ply laminates were determined. The additional results on the same effects in the interaction of biaxial in-plane loadings on the critical buckling load were determined as well.
In the present paper, a simple analytical model is developed based on a new refined parabolic shear deformation theory (RPSDT) for free vibration and buckling analysis of orthotropic rectangular plates with simply supported boundary conditions. The displacement field is simpler than those of other higher-order theories since it is modeled with only two unknowns and accounts for a parabolic distribution of the transverse shear stress through the plate thickness. The governing differential equations related to the present theory are obtained from the principle of virtual work, while the solution of the eigenvalue problem is achieved by assuming a Navier technique in the form of a double trigonometric series that satisfy the edge boundary conditions of the plate. Numerical results are presented and compared with previously published results for orthotropic rectangular plates in order to verify the precision of the proposed analytical model and to assess the impacts of several parameters such as the modulus ratio, the side-to-thickness ratio and the geometric ratio on natural frequencies and critical buckling loads. From these results, it can be concluded that the present computations are in excellent agreement with the other higher-order theories.

This manuscript presents a real-time solution for 3D human body reconstruction with multiple RGB-D cameras. The proposed system uses four consumer RGB/Depth (RGB-D) cameras, each located at approximately $90^{\circ}$ from the next camera around a freely moving human body. A single mesh is constructed from the captured point clouds by iteratively removing the estimated overlapping regions from the boundary. A cell-based mesh construction algorithm is developed, recovering the 3D shape from various conditions, considering the direction of the camera and the mesh boundary. The proposed algorithm also allows problematic holes and/or occluded regions to be recovered from another view. Finally, calibrated RGB data is merged with the constructed mesh so it can be viewed from an arbitrary direction. The proposed algorithm is implemented with general-purpose computation on graphics processing unit (GPGPU) for real-time processing owing to its suitability for parallel processing.

The present paper addresses a refined plate theoryin order to describe the response of anti-symmetric cross-ply laminated plates subjected to a uniformlydistributed nonlinear thermo-mechanical loading. In the present theory, the undetermined integral terms are used and the variables number is reduced to four instead of five or more in other higher-order theories. The boundary conditions on the top and the bottom surfaces of the plate are satisfied; hence the use of the transverse shear correction factors isavoided.
