Requirements Analysis and Design of an HTML5 Based e-book Viewer System Supporting User Interaction (사용자 인터랙션을 지원하는 HTML5 기반 e-book 뷰어 시스템의 요구사항 분석 및 설계)

  • E-books have been popular and common in everyday life during past a decade, and the market is expected to grow much more because of the popularity of tablet computing devices such as iPad. With the helps from the devices, people want to read or experience more interactive, fun, and informative e-book contents. In order to meet those needs, we introduce requirements of an e-book viewer system that supports user interaction, 3D modeling view, and augmented reality. We also introduce some design issues of the system and its concept proof prototype system. We determine to adopt HTML5 for e-book content format because it already supports content rendering, multimedia, and user interaction. Furthermore, it is easy to implement e-book viewer because there is already Webkit component for HTML5. We also discuss design issues for integrating an Augmented Reality viewer with Webkit-based e-book viewer. This paper will give e-book viewer developers and contents developers some guidelines for new e-book systems.

Interactive Virtual Studio & Immersive Viewer Environment (인터렉티브 가상 스튜디오와 몰입형 시청자 환경)

  • In this paper, we introduce a novel virtual studio environment where a broadcaster in the virtual set interacts with tele-viewers as if they are sharing the same environment as participants. A tele-viewer participates physically in the virtual studio environment by a dummy-head equipped with video "eyes" and microphone "ears" physically located in the studio. The dummy head as a surrogate of the tole-viewer follows the tele-viewer's head movements and views and hears through the dummy head like a tele-operated robot. By introducing the tele-presence technology in the virtual studio setting, the broadcaster can not only interact with the virtual set elements like the regular virtual studio environment but also share the physical studio with the surrogates of the tele-viewers as participants. The tele-viewer may see the real broadcaster in the virtual set environment and other participants as avatars in place of their respective dummy heads. With an immersive display like HMD, the tele-viewer may look around the studio and interact with other avatars. The new interactive virtual studio with the immersive viewer environment may be applied to immersive tele-conferencing, tele-teaching, and interactive TV program productions.program productions.

  • 오늘날 디지털 컨텐츠 시장의 급성장, 그리고 전자책이 갖는 장점들로 인하여 전세계적으로 전자책에 많은 관심을 집중시키고 있으며, 이에 전세계적으로 각국에서는 전자책 문서의 표준화를 위한 컨소시엄이 활동 중에 있다. 또한 전자책을 보기 위한 도구인 E-Book Viewer에 대한 여러 연구 및 서비스가 제공되고 있다. 이 중에서 주석 기능은 정보 공유 및 검색과 같은 다양한 활용을 위하여 반드시 필요한 기능이라 하겠다. 이에 본 연구에서는 주석을 지원하는 PDA용 E-Book Viewer의 설계를 위하여 Windows 환경에서 QT Labrary를 이용하였으며, 폰트의 크기와 스킨의 색상, 주석의 표현 여부 등을 설정할 수 있고, 특정 단어를 검색하는 기능을 지원한다.

  • A study on e-book viewer terminal in the native language of the platform-dependent studies are based, This is inefficient in memory usage and screen rendering speed, and there are frequent system updates, e-book viewer, the nature of mobile terminal platform application compatibility issues may occur. In this paper, using the mobile app framework in order to design e-book e-book viewer, analyzed the structure of ePub file parser and file more structured modules were designed and MVC. Designed and implemented to test the functionality of the memory information that is currently running to provide the ability to show the relationship of DDMS and layout components were used to show Hierarchy Viewer. As a result, rendering the screen 150%, 84% in the heap memory usage, improved performance was confirmed.

  • This paper proposes an algorithm for creating stereoscopic video from a monoscopic video. A viewer uses depth perception clues called a vanishing point which is the farthest from a viewer's viewpoint in order to perceive depth information from objects and surroundings thereof to the viewer. The viewer estimates the vanishing point with geometrical features in monoscopic images, and can perceive the depth information with the relationship between the position of the vanishing point and the viewer's viewpoint. In this paper, we propose a method to estimate a vanishing point with edge direction histogram in a general monoscopic image and to create a depth map depending on the position of the vanishing point. With the conversion method proposed through the experiment results, it is seen that stable stereoscopic conversion of a given monoscopic video is achieved.

  • Among the several types of 3D display methods the autostereoscopic method has an advantage that we can enjoy a 3D image without any additional device but the method has a disadvantage of a narrow viewing zone so that the moving viewer coannot see the 3D image continuously. This disadvantage can be overcome with the detectioni of viewer's positional movement by head tracking. In this paper we suggest a method of detecting the position of the moving viewer's two eyes by using images obtained through a color CCD camera, The suggested method consists of the preprocessing process and the eye-detection process. Through the experiment of applying the suggested method we were able to find the accurate two-eyes position for 78 images among 80 sample input images of 8 different men with the processing speed of 0.39 second/frame using a personal computer.

  • VLSI 칩 설계는 매우 복잡한 공정이기 때문에 여러 단계, 즉 크게 분류하여 구조 설계, 논리 설계, 물리 설계 등의 과정을 거쳐 완성하게 된다. 그리고 각 단계에서는 그 단계에서 사용될 수 있는 소프트웨어의 도움을 받게 되며, 이런 소프트웨어의 도움 없이는 오늘날의 고밀도 칩 설계는 불가능하다. 각 단계에서 사용되는 소프트웨어의 주요한 기능 중 하나가 시뮬레이션 등을 통한 설계의 적합성을 테스트하는 것이라면 또 다른 주요한 기능은 설계자로 하여금 눈으로 확인하며, 변형된 설계의 일부를 눈으로 볼 수 있도록 보여주는 기능이라고 볼 수 있다. 논 본문에서는 칩 설계에서 가장 복잡한 단계라고 볼 수 있는 물리 설계 과정에 사용될 수 있는 Viewer를 설계하고 구현하여 제안한 Viewer를 통하여 회로의 정보를 보여 주며, 또한 상이한 레이아웃을 비교할 수 있도록 도와 준다. 설계된 Viewer 는 비록 초기버전이지만 물리 설계 단계에서 매우 중요한 정보, 예를 들어 critical net, 상이한 배치 등을 눈으로 확인하게 도와줌으로써 물리 설계에 관계된 다른 소프트웨어의 성능 개선을 유도할 수 있으며 또 실제 칩 설계 현장에서 바로 사용될 수 있기 때문에 실용성이 매우 높다.

A Study on the Effectiveness of Viewer-Media Center

  • Recently, new media such as YouTube and AR/VR have emerged, and media content has become more complex and diversified. To respond to the new media environment, the Korean government wanted to increase people's access to media and to enhance their ability to utilize it through the establishment of viewer-media center. In this paper, based on the score of media literacy, education programs of the viewer-media center were verified to provide their effectiveness. This paper also suggests and comments on the programs that the viewer-media center should focus on by comparing and analyzing the efficacy among educational programs.

  • Changed TV, that has multi-channel and interactive attribute, requires viewer's activity. Also, broadcasting environment and TV user interface require same things equally. But, the viewer feels uncomfortable in current situation because they recognize the TV as passive media. especially, TV interface can't overcome limitation of TV media. And such interface is provided as it is. This problem brings viewer's confusion and dissatisfaction more and more. This study raises a question about viewer's activity and satisfaction, analyzes the relation and effect between activity and satisfaction.

  • Under the Chapter 1, Article 3(Protection of Rights and Interests of Viewers) of the Broadcasting Act, the viewers should be able to participate in decision-making with regard to planning, programming, or production of broadcast programs. For this, the public service broadcasting, KBS is operating two kinds of system such as 'viewer-evaluation program' and 'viewer-participation program' that televises the broadcasting programs directly produced by viewers. This study presented several improvement measures by analyzing the contents of viewer-participation programs televised through the of KBS, so KBS could work as an open public platform in which the people could freely express their own thinking, ideology, opinions, and ideas.
