Novel Hybrid Content Synchronization Scheme for Augmented Broadcasting Services

  • As a new hybrid broadcasting service, augmented broadcasting shows enhanced broadcasting content on a large TV screen, while augmented reality (AR) on a mobile device augments additional graphical content onto an input image from the device's own camera to provide useful and convenient information for users. A one-sided broadcasting service using AR has already been attempted in virtual advertisements during sport broadcasts. However, because its augmentation is preprocessed before the video image is transmitted, the viewer at home may have no influence on this formation; and no interaction for the user is possible unless the viewer has a direct connection to the content provider. Augmented broadcasting technology enables viewers to watch mixed broadcasting content only when they want such service and to watch original broadcasting content when they do not. To realize an augmented broadcasting service, the most important issue is to resolve the hybrid content synchronization over heterogeneous broadcast and broadband networks. This paper proposes a novel hybrid content synchronization scheme for an augmented broadcasting service and presents its implementation and results in a terrestrial DTV environment.

  • 거실 엔터테인먼트의 핵심 플랫폼인 TV는 사용자층의 다양성과 브랜드 이미지 제고의 장점을 갖고 있기 때문에 기존 인터넷 서비스 업체들이 자사의 서비스를 디지털 TV의 데이터 서비스로 구현하여 서비스 고객의 층의 확대와 서비스 브랜드의 제고를 꾀하고 있다. 그러나 대부분의 데이터 서비스들이 시청자의 한정적인 시간을 대상으로 방송 영상 콘텐츠와 경쟁하는 구도를 취하고 있어서 성공적인 효과를 거두지 못하고 있다. 본 논문은 방송 영상 콘텐츠 시청이 TV의 주된 활용 목적인 시청자의 TV 시청 행태를 고려한 데이터 서비스의 기획 가이드라인을 제시하고 PC 기반의 인터넷 미팅 서비스를 디지털 TV로 확장하고자 하는 모 기업의 데이터 서비스를 가이드라인의 사례로 소개한다.

  • Social viewing has become an increasingly common viewing pattern by combining SNS use with video-watching. Accordingly, social viewing has attracted much scholarly attention, but a more comprehensive understanding of the process and effects of social viewing is warranted. For this, this study incorporated social viewing motivations, viewer satisfaction, and the continuous use intention, taking the viewer's communicative behavior into account as a possible moderator. This study conducted an online survey (N=334). Among four motivations, enjoyment, sharing and expression were significant predictors of program and communication satisfaction. Information, however, was only associated with program satisfaction but not with communication satisfaction. The moderating effects of three communication behaviors, production, sharing, and reception, were discussed in the relationship between user motivations and viewing satisfaction and continuous use intention. Production behaviors played a significant moderating role in between enjoyment, information, sharing, and communication satisfaction. Sharing moderatied information, sharing, and program satisfaction, whereas reception was not a significant moderator.

Sound Quality Enhancement by using the Single Core Exciter in OLED Panel

  • With the development of display engineering and technology, the screen and sound quality of information devices such as TVs are improving. The screen used LEDs via LCD and PDP and a large flat panel in the early CRT to create super-high resolution. The sound is improved by directly vibrating a thin and simple panel, such as an OLED. In our previous study, the exciter speaker was attached to the rear of the OLED panel to be used as the diaphragm of the speaker, and the sound quality was as good as that of the TV using the existing dynamic speaker. This method supplied the viewer with the direct sound coming from the panel, delivering clear sound, and the sound and image came from the same location, thus giving the viewer high immersion and maximizing the effect of information transfer. OLED exciter speakers, however, have a special directivity, which tends to slightly attenuate the tone at the very center of the screen. This study improves the sound quality by improving the structure of the exciter speaker and the radiated sound of the flat panel display. A 2-in-1 Exciter is made into a single core to improve the speaker's radiation pattern.

  • 병원에서의 전반적인 의료 정보서비스는 유비쿼터스 환경으로 전환되고 있다. 유비쿼터스 환경에서의 의료정보서비스를 하기 위해서는 기본적으로 DICOM파일을 볼 수 있는 뷰어와 의료정보를 제공해주는 서버와의 네트워킹이 가능하도록 하여야 한다. 제안한 기법을 적용하기 위해, 본 논문은 우선 모바일 단말기 환경에서 서버와 클라이언트로 형태의 네트워크를 구현하였다. 둘째, 유비쿼터스 환경에 맞추어 PDA를 이용하여 무선통신이 가능하도록 PDA에 DICOM 뷰어를 구현다. 셋째, 환자 정보를 효과적으로 적용시키기 위해 MIPS는 RFID 시스템을 이용하였다. 특히, MIPS는 기존의 텍스트 기반 통신과는 달리 영상정보 기반의 통신의 가능성을 보여주었다.

  • 본 논문에서는 시점의 움직임에 대해 최적의 자연스러운 스테레오 영상을 관찰자에게 제공할 수 있는 시점추적시스템을 제안하였다. 관찰자의 위치를 추적하기 위한 시점추적시스템은 관찰자와 배경의 상대적인 거리를 측정하여 배경으로부터 관찰자를 분리할 수 있다. 시점추적을 위한 키 신호를 얻는 방법으로 TOF(Time-Of-Flight) 이론으로 만들어진 깊이 카메라(depth camera)를 사용하였다. 또한 관찰자의 위치가 제한되는 고정형 패럴랙스배리어의 단점을 보완하는 방법으로 이동형 패럴랙스배리어를 제안하였다.

과정접근적 순수미술 전시가 관람자의 관심도와 감상력에 미치는 영향에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Impact of a Process approach to Fine Art Exhibit Design on Visitor Interest and Appreciation)

  • Increasing interest and providing educational experience for the public have long been a major ARt Museum goal. This interest raises the question of how visitors respond to museum exhibits. Much researches have been done which indicate the newer and more interactive exhibits are indeed more didactic and enjoyable than conventional exhibits. This study examined the effectiveness of art exhibits which display information about the creative process of developing a work art along with the final work of art to test if they results in more viewer interest and greater appreciation of the final work of art than those which display only the final work of art. In the early part of the 1991 spring, a counterblancing AB/BA quasi-experiment was carried out in the Jhnson Museum of Art, Cornell University. Methods used to collect and measure visitory interest and appreciation were unobtrusive observation and survey questionnaire. As the indirect measurement of visitor interest, attracting power and holding power were measured by unobstrusive observation of visitor time spent, while the direct measurement of visitor interest and appreciation, visitor's interest, understanding , and degree of favorableness were measured by survey questinnaire. Data analysis reached conclusion that the process approach fine art exhibit designs significantly resulted in more viewer interest and greater appreciation of art work than the conventional fine art exhibit design.

여자 대학생의 허영유형에 따른 패션명품에 대한 태도 - 울산, 부산 및 김해 지역을 중심으로 - (Vanity type and Attitude toward Fashion Luxury Products of Female College Students - Focused in Ulsan, Pusan, and Kimhae -)

  • Female college consumers are orientated toward vanity and fashion luxury products in consumer society. The purpose of this paper was to investigate the relationship of vanity type and attitude toward fashion luxury products. The data were collected from 517 female college students in Ulsan, Pusan, and Kimhai. For data analysis, descriptive statistics, factor analysis, cluster analysis, and MCA were used. Results of cluster analysis identified the vanity type of the female college students into non-vanity group, positive viewer, and vanity group. Above two third of the total sample were the vanity group and the positive viewer. The non-vanity group, was comprised the smallest proportion of female college students. Attitude toward fashion luxury products was classified into four factors; involvement for fashion luxury, superiority of the fashion luxury, hedonic and conspicious consumption, and negative response. The attitude toward fashion luxury products was significantly different across the 3 vanity type. The results of this study provide insights into female college consumers' increasing demands toward fashion luxury brands. Consumer education should be implemented for the vanity group, and personal financial management education program is needed in liberal arts curriculum.

MQTT 기반 IoT 시스템을 위한 대시보드 저작 및 뷰어의 설계 및 구현 (Design and Implementation of Dashboard Author and Viewer for IoT Systems based on MQTT)

  • 많은 센서 장치로 연결된 IoT 시스템을 구축하면 센서들의 값을 모니터링하는 대시보드를 보통 제작하게 되며, 대시 보드 소프트웨어의 개발 및 유지에는 많은 시간과 비용이 들어간다. 본 논문은 대시보드를 빠르고 쉽게 만들 수 있는 저작 도구 YellowPeach를 설계하고 구현한 내용을 소개한다. YellowPeach를 이용하여 사용자는 센서 값을 출력하기 위해 미리 준비된 다양한 차트들로 대시보드를 꾸미며, 완성된 대시보드는 JSON 파일로 저장된다. 또한 본 연구에서는 웹브라우저에서 대시보드를 출력할 수 있는 웹 애플리케이션을 제작하였다. 대시보드 뷰어 웹 애플리케이션은 MQTT 기반의 IoT 시스템을 연결하여 센서로부터 실시간으로 값을 받아 화면에 출력한다.
