6a A content-based search method is required for video which has an unformatted and huge size of data. The index technique is necessary for the content-based search of the video data. The first step of the video indexing is a cut detection. We propose a dynamic threshold method which changes a threshold value during the cut detection process. We demonstrate that the proposed method is more efficient than the existing methods.

  • With the increase of mass contents data, a method of a scene change detection is required for analysis, indexing and editing. Although many researchers are studying a variety of scene change detection method, it is too difficult to accurately detect various movements of the cameras and scene changes. Also, earlier scene change detection methods take too much time to apply to UHD video contents. That is because the UHD video contents with 4K (3820x2160) resolution or higher have greater amount of data. Therefore a method for detecting a scene change by using the next-generation codec, HEVC, is required. In this paper, we propose four scene change detection methods using the coding additional information of HEVC, and a new pixel-based scene change detection system. Furthermore, through the experimental results, we check the possibility of detecting the scene changes of UHD videos encoded in HEVC format.

  • With the development of video editing technology, there are growing uses of overlay text inserted into video contents to provide viewers with better visual understanding. Since the content of the scene or the editor's intention can be well represented by using inserted text, it is useful for video information retrieval and indexing. Most of the previous approaches are based on low-level features, such as edge, color, and texture information. However, existing methods experience difficulties in handling texts with various contrasts or inserted in a complex background. In this paper, we propose a novel framework to localize the overlay text in a video scene. Based on our observation that there exist transient colors between inserted text and its adjacent background a transition map is generated. Then candidate regions are extracted by using the transition map and overlay text is finally determined based on the density of state in each candidate. The proposed method is robust to color, size, position, style, and contrast of overlay text. It is also language free. Text region update between frames is also exploited to reduce the processing time. Experiments are performed on diverse videos to confirm the efficiency of the proposed method.

  • Digital image and video libraries require new algorithms for the automated extraction and indexing of salient image features. Eigen values of an image provide one important cue for the discrimination of image content. In this paper we propose a new approach for automated content extraction that allows efficient database searching using eigen values. The algorithm automatically extracts eigen values from the image matrix represented by the covariance matrix for the image. We demonstrate that the eigen values representing shape information and the skewness of its distribution representing complexity provide good performance in image query response time while providing effective discriminability. We present the eigen value extraction and indexing techniques. We test the proposed algorithm of searching by eigen value and its skewness on a database of 100 images.

  • The basic features in the indexing and retrieval of the image is used color, shape, and texture in traditional image retrieval method. We do not use these features and offers a new way. For content-based video indexing and retrieval, visual features used to measure the similarity of the geometric method is presented. This method is called the Radon transform. Without separation, this method is calculated based on the geometric distribution of image. In the experiment has a very good search results.

  • A digital video is usually very long temporally. requiring large storage capacity. Therefore, users want to watch pre-summarized video before they watch a large long video. Especially in the field of sports video, they want to watch a highlight video. Consequently, highlight video is used that the viewers decide whether it is valuable for them to watch the video or not. This paper proposes how to create soccer video highlight using the structural features of the caption such as temporal and spatial features. Caption frame intervals and caption key frames are extracted by using those structural features. And then, highlight video is created by using scene relocation, logical indexing and highlight creation rule. Finally. retrieval and browsing of highlight and video segment is performed by selection of item on browser.

  • This study examines the design and utilization of video storyboard surrogates in the digital video libraries. To do this, first we constructed the arrangement model of key-frames for storyboard based on the FRBR model, image communication and PRECIS Indexing theories and evaluated the model using 6 sample videos and 26 participants. The study results show that the video storyboard surrogates based on the arrangement model has a higher accuracy value in terms of summary extraction than that of the sequential video storyboard. Moreover, watching both types of video storyboard one after another, especially browsing the sequential video storyboard first and then the arrangement model-based one, produces a remarkable increase in accuracy value of summary extraction. The study proposes two methods of utilizing the video storyboard surrogates in the digital video libraries: Designing a video browsing interface where users can use the sequential storyboard as a default and then the arrangement model-based one for re-watching; and utilizing the arrangement model-based storyboard as structured match sources of image-based queries.

  • A digital video is a very long data that requires large-capacity storage space. As such, prior to watching a long original video, video watchers want to watch a summarized version of the video. In the field of sports, in particular, highlights videos are frequently watched. In short, a highlights video allows a video watcher to determine whether the highlights video is well worth watching. This paper proposes a scheme for creating soccer video highlights using the structural features of captions in terms of time and space. Such structural features are used to extract caption frame intervals and caption keyframes. A highlights video is created through resetting shots for caption keyframes, by means of logical indexing, and through the use of the rule for creating highlights. Finally, highlights videos and video segments can be searched and browsed in a way that allows the video watcher to select his/her desired items from the browser.

  • When retrieving voluminous capacity of video image data, it is necessary to provide synopsized frame lists of video image data for indexing and replaying at the exact point where the user want to retrieve. We apply Mean Squared Error method to extract certain pixel value from diagonal direction of a frame. The RGB value of a pixel extracted from each frame is saved in a matrix form, and this frame is retrievedas a scene change point if the compared value of two points met the certain condition. Also implement the algorithm and provide a way to seize entire structure of video image and the point of scene changes. finally, we analyze and prove that our method has better performance compared with the others.

  • Human faces are commonly found in a video such as a drama and provide useful information for video content analysis. Therefore, face detection plays an important role in applications such as face recognition, and face image database management. In this paper, we propose a face detection algorithm based on pre-processing of scene change detection for indexing and cast searching in video. The proposed algorithm consists of three stages: scene change detection stage, face region detection stage, and eyes and mouth detection stage. Experimental results show that the proposed algorithm can detect faces successfully over a wide range of facial variations in scale, rotation, pose, and position, and the performance is improved by $24\%$with profile images comparing with conventional methods using color components.
