Recent building structures are superior in its ability but they are light and fiexible, and so have problems of vibration. In general, the serviceability of RC slabs was known to be good against vibration because of its hardness. However recent high-rise apartment slabs are mostly light and long, the serviceability about vibration problems of RC slabs was performed. Basic information and its influence on vibrations of RC slabs were revealed. Also, its serviceability against vibration was examined. Many tests were conducted on existing building located in Chung-Nam area. As a results, damping ratio, natural frequency, acceleration amplitude and displacement amplitude which were used to examine serviceability of the RC slabs were obtained. These results on the test building proved that its serviceability conditions were satified to meet the code against vibration.
Generally, countermeasures for the train-induced vibration are divided into the measures at the source, propagation path and receiving object. Among these measures the countermeasure at the source location is the most active and effective one in the field of railroad. In this study, the effectiveness of each anti-vibration measures at the track(source location) such as elastic rail fastener, ballast mat were evaluated through the comparison of acceleration level, insertion loss at the installed locations of each measures. As result of field measurement of vibration at the railroad track supporting structures and on the ground nearby the structures, elastic rail fastener showed vibration reduction effect of 4.5 ∼7.3㏈ on the concrete slab, 1.6∼3.7㏈ on the ground with the train operation speed of 80km/hr. In the case of ballast mat, the vibration reduction effect at the concrete slab and on the ground were 11.9∼13.3㏈ and 6.1∼7.6㏈, respectively.
It was estimated that the anti-vibration measures at the source location of railroad are the most active and effective ones. Among CWR(Continuously Welded Rail), elastic rail fastener, floating slab, ballast mat, under sleeper pad, etc. like these various kinds of measures in the source, under sleeper pad as an anti-vibration measure was constructed at the railroad track supporting structures in the Jeon-la Line. In this study, through the field measurement of vibration at the railroad track supporting structures and nearby the ground, the vibration reduction effect of under sleeper pad were evaluated by insertion loss. As a result, vibration reduction effects were 5.0∼12.5㏈ on the concrete slab of the bridge, 3.9∼7.5㏈ on the ground nearby the bridge respectively.

Finite element method was applied to the vibration analysis of concrete slab system in apartment building. To save the time and cost the 2 dimensional finite element model was proposed. At first, experimental results show that sound peak components to influence the overall level and the rating of floor impact sound insulation were coincident with natural frequencies of the reinforced concrete slab. Second, there is linear relationship between the impact sound pressure level and vibration acceleration level. Third, 2 dimensional finite element model was enough to analyze the vibration analysis of floor structure system.

The floor impact noise arising between upper and lower households in residential houses has been known as one of major causes worsening residential environment and still led to serious social troubles in a residential community. It is known that the heavy weight floor impact noise is induced by flexural vibration modes in the relatively lower frequency ranges. In this study, a procedure is examined to evaluate the relations between the vibration modes and the corresponding noise of the slab. In the process, for simplicity of the numerical analysis, it is assumed that the slab is simply supported plate-like structure and the acoustic mode formed in the lower room by acoustic boundary conditions is ignored.

Composite slab structures consisted with steel deck plate and concrete material show generally anisotropic structural behavior because of different stiffness between the major direction and sub-direction of deck plate, and also the structures can be regarded as the laminated slab structures. It is necessary for the composite deck slab structures to carry out the exact vibration analysis to evaluate the serviceability. Also, it is needed to evaluate the exact structural behavior of composite deck slab with a layered orthotropic materials. In this paper, the thickness of topping concrete and deck plate are used to calculate the material coefficient stiffness of a sub-direction, and an equivalent depth calculated from sectional stiffness of concrete and deck plate is applied to get the stiffness of a major direction. The stiffness of two layered composite plates with different depth is determined by laminated theory. It is concluded that the presented method can efficiently analyze the structural behavior of composite deck slab consisted with steel deck plate and concrete material in the practical engineering field.

In these days the floor vibration is beginning to make its appearance of the environmental dispute in apartment building. Standard floor system are suggested for the settlement of this issue by government. The sound of floor impact sound is needed to secure comfortable quality in housing. Also, it is required an accurate analysis and a proper evaluation for floor vibration. Refine model is necessary for the floor system of housing to analyze accurately the floor vibration. But this refine model is not efficient because it is required so much running time for vibration analysis and it is difficult of modeling of standard floor slab. In this paper, new modeling methods of standard floor slab are proposed for the accurate rigidity evaluation. By using the new modeling method, the accurate vibration response can be obtained and can accurately evaluate the rigidity of standard floor system with resilient materials. Therefore the proposed modeling method is of practical use for vibration analysis of floor system of apartment building.

Noise complaints among neighbors in apartment building are mainly caused by floor impact noise that is structure born noise due to occupant induced floor vibration. To control this noise problems many researchers have investigated floor systems and finishing materials. Light-weight impact noise affects by finishing materials, but heavy-weight impact noise induced by heel impacts during normal walking or jumping of children is concerned with structural system and floor vibration. To figure out the characteristics of floor impact noise and transmission of floor vibration due to human activities, vibration tests were conducted in apartment buildings. Impact hammer, heel drop and walking activities were loaded at center of upstairs living room, and accelerations of slabs for both upstairs and downstairs and sound pressure levels for downstairs were measured. The acceleration ratio of transmitted floor vibration to downstairs and human induced vibration in upstairs was between 0.5 and 1.0 according to slab size, wall, and load type. And floor impact noise occurred in the range of natural frequency of slab.

Railway has been pointed to the efficiency of transportation, rapid transit, and comfortable train ride. the construction of railway near the downtown area and station building are increasing for maximization of utilization and convenience. but the heavy of transportation and rapid transit lead to increase noise and vibration. The noise and vibration of railway may cause the civil appeal, decline in the serviceability and insufficiency of environmental standard. In this study, floating slab vibration and repeated connection of devices to support joints and fatigue stress analysis of punching shear performance review was conducted to evaluate the safety.
