A Study on the Safe Maneuvering of a G/T 100,000 Ton LNG Vessel by Using Her Control Surface through a Narrow Channel

  • Nawadays LNG has been beginning to take the place of petroleum as fuel all over the world and VLCC tankers of LNG will take the same sea routes that had been used by VLCC tankers of petroleum in the last pat of he 20th century. The transportation of LNG by a VLCC include more dangerous nature of sea peril than that of petroleum. We already know the dimensions of a disaster a LNG tanker could bring about in the case of the LNG tanker, Yuyo-Maru No. 10 in the Tokyo Bay of Japan in 1974. From the point of safety when we construct a LNG base or LNG pier in the base, the appropriate government authority and constructing company had better take sea pilots or some ships handling experts to participate in a prior consultation of the design of the project. A G/T 100,000 ton LNG base and pier were completed in November of 1996 in Inchon harbour in Korea and LNG VLCC tankers of G/T 100,000 ton class have been entering into the base ever since. This study was started and completed to comply with the requisition of the Sea Pilot Association of Inchon harbour in advance of the opening of the LNG base. As the entrance and exit channels leading to Inchon harbour were constructed in the years of 1930s, it was one of the most pressing works for Inchon sear pilots in 1996 to certify the method of safe passing maneuvering of a G/T 100,000 ton LNG tanker through the Pudo narrow channel prior to commercing actual piloting of the LNG VLCC tanker. The author made some mathematical models computing maneuvering of a vessel changing her course with her control surface through a narrow channel and computed maneuvering of a G/T 100,000 ton LNG tanker and also made maneuvering simulations of the vessel by a desk-top simulator. The results of computations and simulations are well coincided with each other in qualitative aspects to assure safe passing of the LNG VLCC.

  • VTS(Vessel Traffic Service)는 해양사고의 감소와 항만 시설의 효율적인 이용 측면에서 해상교통의 효율성을 증대한다. 이는 항만 및 수로는 각 수용능력이 있으며, VTS의 적절한 교통 관리를 통해 안전하게 그 수용능력에 맞출 수 있다는 것을 의미한다. 적절한 교통 관리는 선박의 수로 및 항만 내 불필요한 대기를 줄일 수 있으며, 이는 곧 선사나 항만터미널의 경제적 이익으로 이어질 수 있다. 한편, 우리나라 항만이나 수로는 안전을 위한 최고속력의 제한이 있으나 최저속력에 대한 규제는 없다. 그러나 항만 및 수로에서 저속으로 운항하는 선박은 운항 가능한 항로를 장시간 점용할 수 있는 가능성이 있어 효율적인 항만 운영에 방해의 요소가 될 수도 있다. 그러므로 본 연구는 효율적인 항만 및 수로 이용을 위해 선박의 최저속력을 제안하는 것을 목적으로 한다. 이를 위해 현행 법률 및 제도를 검토하고 대기행렬 이론을 이용해 항로 내 적정 최저속력을 제안했다.

  • All passenger ships aboard more than 36 passengers are to be able to easily find escape routes when the escape way by fire with flame spread were onboard vessel (incl. Ferry, Passenger, Ro-pax, Inland Ferry) It should be impossible by ordinary emergency lights. The international Maritime Organization (IMO) gives special requirement for luminescent evaluation onboard test procedure and applicable location of low location lighting. In order to maintain the residual light source for a certain time in the low location lighting with a strip-shaped light source, the light source material must be sufficiently exposed to the light due to the proper placement of the escape route. The lighting arrangement influence how maintain low location lighting strip luminescent which measured onboard in connection with what elements are mainly sustain luminescent.

  • Transportation routes by land like a human being blood vessel should exist for economic and trade exchange in Northeast Asia. Thinking from this point of view. I believe that TSR(Trans Siberian Railroad) and TCR(Trans Chinese Railroad). which will be connected with I would like to talk about .not only the effects of various international railroads and their connections but also economic activation TKR(Trans Korean Railroad). can play important roles. In this study, and effects in Northeast Asia which will be resulted from various international railroads construction. I tried to figure out comparative superiority and comparative advantage of the trade structure and industries in South and North Korea to find out the possibility of economic unification in East Asia. especial1y in Northeast Asia. This study also includes the effort to find out how trade exchange between South and North Korea can be expanded as a result of being a member of East Asia economic zone.

Lipo-PGE1의 투여경로가 흰쥐의 횡복직근피판의 생존률에 미치는 효과 (The Effect of Lipo-PGE1 According to the Routes of Administration on the Survival of Transverse Rectus Abdominis Musculocutaneous Flap in Rats)

  • The Transverse rectus abdominis musculocutaneous (TRAM) flap has been commonly used for autologous breast reconstruction. Despite these clinical usefulness, the TRAM flap is prone to partial flap or fat necrosis in especially pedicled flap. To improve flap survival, the surgical delay procedures and pharmacological treatments have been developed. In many studies for the pharmacological treatment, Lipo-$PGE_1$ has demonstrated a marked ability to improve flap survival and it's effect has been proved similar to surgical delay procedure. The purpose of this study is to determine the most effective route of Lipo-$PGE_1$ administration as a pharmacological treatment in TRAM flap of the rat. Fifty male Sprague-Dawley rats weighing 300-350 gm were divided into five groups, One week before flap elevation, Lipo-$PGE_1$($2{\mu}g/kg$) was injected three times in a week and than the left inferior epigastric vessel based TRAM flap ($5.0{\times}3.0cm$) elevated; group I: no procedure before flap elevation; group II: intraperitoneal injection; group III: intravenous injection; group IV: subcutaneous injection; group V: topical application. A flap was assessed at postoperative 7 days by comparison of flap survival rate, vessel counts(H-E stain), and vascular endothelial growth factor(VEGF) protein expressed by Western blot. The results demonstrated that the mean percentages of the flap survival area in group III were significantly higher than that of any other group(p<0.05). The vessel counts of all experimental groups were statistically higher than that of control group(p<0.05). Only in group III, the VEGF protein expression was increased significantly than control group and there are no difference in other experimental groups. In conclusion, the intravenous administration of the Lipo-$PGE_1$ is the most effective on flap survival, and the VEGF induced by Lipo-$PGE_1$ has some positive effects on new vessel formation and flap survival.

해상교통류 시뮬레이션을 이용한 통항분리제도의 정량적 효과평가 (An Assessment of the Quantitative Effect of TSS by Vessel Traffic Flow Simulation)

  • 해상교통관리는 통항방식의 설정, 교통량의 총량 규제, 교통류의 정류, 항행속력의 규제, 교통신호에 의한 관제. 항행지원정보의 제공 등 선박교통의 안전을 위해 실시되는 관리적 기술 수단이라고 정의할 수 있다 이러한 해상교통관리 수단 중에서 통항분리제도가 널리 이용되고 있지만, 통항분리를 통한 선박간의 마주침 감소 또는 소멸로 인한 선박조종자의 조선곤란성 완화효과에 대하여 검토한 연구는 거의 없다. 이 연구에서는 중앙선 표시가 없는 왕복수로에서 (1)수로중앙에 부표(buoy)를 설치하는 경우, (2)통항분리대를 설정하는 경우, (3)일방통항수로로 바꾸는 경우 등과 같은 교통관리 방안을 도입하는 경우, 수로를 항행하는 선박조종자에 부가되는 부하의 정도(조선곤란성)를 환경스트레스(Environmental Stress:ES)치라는 지표를 사용하여 그 효과를 정량적으로 평가하였다. 이 연구의 주요 결과는 다음과 같다. (1) 교통량이 동일한 조건에서 수로 중앙에 부표를 설치하면 선박조종자의 부하 값(허용 불가능한 값)이 약 23%. 통항분리대를 설정하면 약 32%, 일방 통항수로로 바꾸면 약 50%가 완화되었다. (2) 수로 폭이 동일한 경우 교통량이 적은 경우보다 교통량이 많은 경우가 부표 설치와 통항분리대 설정에 의한 통항분리 효과가 크게 나타났으며, 대형선일수록 각 교통관리 방안의 도입에 따른 조선곤란성의 완화 효과가 크게 나타났다. 또한 교통량이 동일한 경우 수로 폭이 넓은 경우보다 수로 폭이 좁은 경우에 대형선의 조선곤란성 완화 효과가 크게 나타났다. (3) 통항분리방식의 도입에 따른 효과는 수로 폭이 좁고 교통량이 많은 경우에 가장 크게 나타났다.

  • 최근 불규칙한 해양기상변화로 인하여 항해하는 선박들은 해양 기상환경에 대한 대비책이 절실한 상황이다. 해양 기상 모니터링시스템은 이러한 해양 기상환경에 대한 정보를 수집하여 주변 연안을 항행하는 선박에게 실시간 제공하므로서 해양교통 안전을 확보하기 위한 시스템이다. 오래전부터 해양 선진국에서는 항로표지시설 등에 해양기상관측센서를 설치하여 해양 기상모니터링 시스템을 구축 운용 하고 있으며, 선박의 안전항해에 많은 도움을 주고 있다. 더욱 발전된 해양기상모니터링 시스템을 위하여 국내외 현황을 분석하고 연구하므로서 선박의 안전항행과 해양사고를 예방하고, 최적의 해양기상모니터링 시스템을 위한 향후 발전방안에 대해서 논의하고자 한다.

  • The process of berthing/deberthing operations for entering/leaving vessels in Busan northern harbor was analyzed and evaluated by using an integrated VTS(vessel traffic service) system installed in the ship training center of Pukyong National University, Busan, Korea. The integrated VTS system used in this study was consisted of ARPA radar, ECDIS(electronic chart display and information system), backup(recording) system, CCTV(closed-circuit television) camera system, gyro-compass, differential GPS receiver, anemometer, AIS(automatic identification system), VHF(very high frequency) communication system, etc. The network of these systems was designed to communicate with each other automatically and to exchange the critical information about the course, speed, position and intended routes of other traffic vessels in the navigational channel and Busan northern harbor. To evaluate quantitatively the overall dynamic situation such as maneuvering motions for target vessel and its tugboats while in transit to and from the berth structure inside a harbor, all traffic information in Busan northern harbor was automatically acquired, displayed, evaluated and recorded. The results obtained in this study suggest that the real-time tracking information of traffic vessels acquired by using an integrated VTS system can be used as a useful reference data in evaluating and analyzing exactly the dynamic situation such as the collision between ship and berth structure, in the process of berthing/deberthing operations for entering/leaving vessels in the confined waters and harbor.

Ultimate strength performance of Northern sea going non-ice class commercial ships

  • In the early design stage of ships, the two most important structural analyses are performed to identify the structural capacity and safety. The first step is called global strength analysis (longitudinal strength analysis or hull girder strength analysis) and the second step is local buckling analysis (stiffened panel strength analysis). This paper deals with the ultimate strength performance of Arctic Sea Route-going commercial ships considering the effect of low temperature. In this study, two types of structural analyses are performed in Arctic sea conditions. Three types of ship namely oil tanker, bulk carrier and container ship with four different sizes (in total 12 vessels) are tested in four low temperatures (-20, -40, -60 and $-800^{\circ}C$), which are based on the Arctic environment and room temperature ($20^{\circ}C$). The ultimate strength performance is analysed with ALPS/HULL progressive hull collapse analysis code for ship hulls, then ALPS/ULSAP supersize finite element method for stiffened panels. The obtained results are summarised in terms of temperature, vessel type, vessel size, loading type and other effects. The important insights and outcomes are documented.

  • 최근 파나마 운하 확장이 국민투표로 결정됨에 따라 2014년부터는 12,000TEU급의 선박의 통행이 가능해진다. 파나마운하의 규모적 한계 때문에 포스트 파나막스급이상의 선박들은 파나마 운하대신 아메리칸 랜드브릿지 및 다른 운송루트를 이용해야 했다. 그러나 파나마 운하확장이 확정됨에 따라 향후 극동-북미 간 운송루트의 변화가 불가피할 것으로 예상된다. 따라서 본 연구는 극동-북미 간을 운행하는 선박의 규모별 루트별 총운송비용을 분석하여 두 구간의 경쟁력을 검토한다.
