  • In this paper, it is proposed the implementation of face authentication system based on real-time image processing. We described the process implementing the two steps for real-time face authentication system. At first face detection steps, we describe the face detection by using feature of wavelet transform, LoG operator and hausdorff distance matching. In the second step we describe the new dual-line principal component analysis(PCA) for real-time face recognition. It is combines horizontal line to vertical line so as to accept local changes of PCA. The proposed system is affected a little by the video size and resolution. And then simulation results confirm the effectiveness of out system and demonstrate its superiority to other conventional algorithm. Finally, the possibility of performance evaluation and real-time processing was confirmed through the implementation of face authentication system.

  • The purpose of this study was to compare and analyze the difference of the ankle joint movements during landing. Seven adult males voluntarily participated in the study and the average foot size of the subjects was 269.8 mm. Image analysis equipment and the ground reaction force plate (landing type) was used to measure th kinetic variables. As a result of this study, it was confirmed that the vertical ground reaction force peak point appeared once in the barefoot with forefoot, while two peak points appeared in the barefoot and functional shoe foot with rear foot landing. About ankle angle, fore foot landing ankle angle, the average with bare foot landing was $-10.302^{\circ}$ and the average with functional shoe foot landing was $-2.919^{\circ}$. Also about rear foot landing, ankle angle was $11.648^{\circ}$ with bare foot landing and $15.994^{\circ}$ with functional shoe landing. The fore foot landing, ankle joint force analysis produced 1423.966N with barefoot and 1493.264N with functional shoes. But, the rear foot landing, ankle joint force analysis produced 1680.154N with barefoot and 1657.286N with functional shoes. This study suggest that the angle of ankle depends on the landing type and bare foot running/functionalized shod running, and ankle joint forces also depends on landing type.

  • Most of the medium-size ships are powered by large-bore, long-stroke, slow-speed and two-stroke diesel engines in order to improve the fuel efficiency. Such a propulsion plant develops low-frequency excitation forces/moments of significant magnitude. A RO/RO car/truck carrier is also one of the cases. In this paper, the rational methods for analysis of vertical and coupled horizontal-torsional vibrations are presented. Taking account of unusual characteristics of the hull form and structural systems, the emphasis is put on modelling methods based on beam analogy, calculation of system parameters such as added mass and its center, polar added-mass moment of inertia, shear coefficient of hull sections and coupling degree in antisymmetric modes, and modal analysis of forced vibrations.

  • Both shear and torsional moments apply shear stresses on cross-section of a member, which need to be considered in the design. But in the current Korean Building Code, the design equations for shear and torsional moments are expressed in terms of the sectional strength with different units, causing figures to be drawn separately in two axes. If the design equations are expressed in terms of stresses, then the stresses of shear and torsional moments can be added, allowing figures to be drawn in one axis for easy recognition of the design procedure and the final design results. Moreover, the current code's design equations for shear and torsional moments are considered separately with the intention of summing the area of stirrups with respect to unit length for shear moment ($A_{\upsilon}/s$) and torsional moment ($2A_t/s$). Since the size or type of vertical stirrups are predetermined in the design process, the design equations are expressed in terms of the spacing of stirrups rather than the $A_{\upsilon}/s$ and $2A_t/s$ terms, clarifying various design steps and a design process.

  • Recently, for the reconstruction of bony defect and cosmetic improvement, many graft materials and implants have been widely used in the various surgical situations. The alloplastic materials have many advantages such as simplicity of operation, no additional need of surgery, and easy manipulation. The $Medpor^{TM}$(porous high-density polyethylene, Porex Co., USA) was initially studied in 1972 for surgical implant and introduced as an implant material for oral and maxillofacial region by Sauer and King in 1988. This material permits full ingrowth of bone into the implants, substantially increasing the implant's incorporation into the recipient site. It can be shaved during the surgery, which results in an improvement and prefabricated various size and shapes to fit into the surgical defect. The $Medpor^{TM}$ was used in 32 patients from 1995 to 1997 at the maxillofacial region. It was used for paranasal augmentation in 24 cases, for malar augmentation in 2 cases, for infraorbital augmentation in 2 cases, for mandibular angle augmentation in 2 cases, for mandibular body augmentation in 2 cases, for chin vertical augmentation in 1 case. It was mainly fixed with miniplate or screw. There were few complications except one infection and one exposure of the implant.

  • A series of shaking table model tests were performed to verify the validity of similitude law, which is suggested by lai (1989) to simulate the dynamic behavior of soil-fluid-structure system for is shaking table tests. In the tests, the similitude law suggested by lai was applied to determine the length and the time scaling factors. Also, the steady state concept was used in determining the density of model backfill soil, which is a key factor in simulating the development of excess pore pressure during shaking. The similitude law was verified by checking whether three different sizes of quay walls show the identical behavior or not. The similar responses of acceleration, excess pore pressure and horizontal displacement of walls were obtained far the small and large models. However, the medium model showed larger responses than those of the small and large models because of the resonance between the frequency of input acceleration and the natural frequency of the wall system. In addition, the vertical displacement and rotational angle of the walls became larger with the increase of model size.

  • A probe card is one of the most important pan of test systems as testing IC(integrated circuit) chips. This work was related to bump-type silicon vertical probe card which enabled simultaneous tests for multiple semiconductor chips. The probe consists of silicon cantilever with bump tip. In order to obtain optimum size of the cantilever, the dimensions were determined by FEM(finite element method) analysis. The probe was fabricated by RIE(reactive ion etching), isotropic etching, and bulk-micromachining using SDB(silicon direct bonding) wafer. The optimum height of the bump of the probe detemimed by FEM simulation was 30um. The optimum thickness, width, and length of the cantilever were 20 $\mum$, 100 $\mum$,and 400 $\mum$,respectively. Contact resistance of the fabricated probe card measured at contact resistance testing was less than $2\Omega$. It was also confirmed that its life time was more than 20,000 contacts because there was no change of contact resistance after 20,000 contacts.

  • In this paper, we propose a fast and accurate method of extracting lens array lattice in integral imaging by using an appropriate calibration pattern image and fast median filtering. In order to extract the lattice of a lens array, vertical and horizontal edge images are required. To extract edge images, the well-known previous method used separable median filters. However, this method is slow and difficult to determine the median filter size. In order to overcome this problem, we try to improve speed by calculating median value through binary counting method. In addition, we propose a calibration pattern image that detects edges well and improves the accuracy. Experimental results indicate that the proposed method is superior to the existing method in extracting the lattice of a lens array in integral imaging.

  • The transient nature and complex flow geometries of two-phase gas-liquid flows cause fundamental difficulties when measuring flow velocity using an electromagnetic flowmeter. Recently, a current-sensing flowmeter was introduced to obtain measurements with high temporal resolution (Ahn et $al.^{(1)}$). In this study, current-sensing flowmeter theory was applied to measure the fast velocity transients in slug flows. To do this, the velocity fields of axisymmetric gas-liquid slug flow in a vertical pipe were obtained using Volume-of-Fluid (VOF) method and the virtual potential distributions for the electrodes of finite size were also computed using the finite volume method for the simulated slug flow. The output signal prediction for slug flow was carried out from the velocity and virtual potential (or weight function) fields. The flowmeter was numerically calibrated to obtain the cross-sectional liquid mean velocity at an electrode plane from the predicted output signal. Two calibration parameters are required for this procedure: a flow pattern coefficient and a localization parameter. The flow pattern coefficient was defined by the ratio of the liquid resistance between the electrodes for two-phase flow with respect to that for single-phase flow, and the localization parameter was introduced to avoid errors in the flowmeter readings caused by liquid acceleration or deceleration around the electrodes. These parameters were also calculated from the computed velocity and virtual potential fields. The results can be used to obtain the liquid mean velocity from the slug flow signal measured by a current-sensing flowmeter.

  • The use of short implants has been accepted risky from biomechanical point of view. However, short implants appear to be a long term viable solution according to recent clinical reports. The purpose of this study was to investigate the effect of different diameter and length of implant size to the different type of bone on the load distribution pattern. Stress analysis was performed using 3-dimensional finite element analysis(3D-FEA). A three-dimensional linear elastic model was generated. All implants modeled were of the various diameter(${\phi}4.0$, 4.5, 5.0 and 6.0 mm) and varied in length, at 7.0, 8.5 and 10.0 mm. Each implant was modeled with a titanium abutment screw and abutment. The implants were seated in a supporting D2 and D4 bone structure consisting of cortical and cancellous bone. An amount of 100 N occlusal load of vertical and $30^{\circ}$ angle to axis of implant and to buccolingual plane were applied. As a result, the maximum equivalent stress of D2 and D4 bones has been concentrated upper region of cortical bone. As the width of implant is increased, the equivalent stress is decreased in cancellous bone and stress was more homogeneously distributed along the implants in all types of bone. The short implant of diameter 5.0mm, 6.0mm showed effective stress distribution in D2 and D4 bone. The oblique force of 100N generated more concentrated stress on the D2 cortical bone. Within the limitations of this study, the use of short implant may offer a predictable treatment method in the vertically restricted sites.
