  • This paper presents an vulnerable road user (VRU) classification and tracking algorithm using vision and LiDAR sensor fusion method for urban autonomous driving. The classification and tracking for vulnerable road users such as pedestrian, bicycle, and motorcycle are essential for autonomous driving in complex urban environments. In this paper, a real-time object image detection algorithm called Yolo and object tracking algorithm from LiDAR point cloud are fused in the high level. The proposed algorithm consists of four parts. First, the object bounding boxes on the pixel coordinate, which is obtained from YOLO, are transformed into the local coordinate of subject vehicle using the homography matrix. Second, a LiDAR point cloud is clustered based on Euclidean distance and the clusters are associated using GNN. In addition, the states of clusters including position, heading angle, velocity and acceleration information are estimated using geometric model free approach (GMFA) in real-time. Finally, the each LiDAR track is matched with a vision track using angle information of transformed vision track and assigned a classification id. The proposed fusion algorithm is evaluated via real vehicle test in the urban environment.

  • In this paper, vehicle tracking algorithm using hue transformation in HIS color model is proposed. the proposed algorithm is installed on the road of the two horizontal virtual data sampling lines. The difference images are detected between the frame and the frame, respectively and also detected in the vehicle by using the hue color distribution to determine identity and lane changes. To examine the effectiveness of proposed algorithm, identification and velocity measurement for driving vehicle are evaluated. this evaluated results is shown by hue data of vehicle passing of two virtual data sample lines, and the velocity measurement for driving vehicle is less than 0.4% comparing with existing vehicle speed meter system.

  • The tracking performance of a big parabola tracking antenna system for tracking and receiving of the signal from the vehicle is impacted by many factors of the internal and the external of the system. In this paper, we analyze the tracking error due to the radio refraction in the application of the tracking and positioning of the vehicle by using radio frequency. The real measurement data are used for the analysis which had been acquired by using GPS and the tracking systems of C- and S-band frequencies in NARO Space centre. To verify the correlation between the tracking errors measured and the radio refraction, we review the error factors and the accuracies of the tracking systems, and the characteristics of the refractivity. The analysis shows that there are angular errors which are due to the radio refraction and not to be neglected, compared to the accuracies of the tracking systems, in case of low elevation angle less than 10 degrees. Also, the tracking errors depend on the target altitude as well as the elevation angle for the case of the target in the troposphere. It is recommended to correct the tracking angle considering the target altitude and elevation angle for the precise target positioning.

  • To determine a guidance law which is suitable for Target Tracking System(TTS) of an underwater vehicle, the performance (hitting probability) of TTS were calculated with four different guidance schemes, considering underwater vehicle's manoeuvrability and characteristics of seeking equipment such as sonar To evaluate the performance of TTS with each guidance law, numerous target-tracking simulations of underwater vehicle were performed under the condition of target's various motion scenario. Furthermore, the effect of sonar characteristics to the performance of guidance law in TTS was studied by changing parameters of sonar such as frequency of ping and detecting error of target. The pursuit-tail guidance law showed the best performance among four different guidance laws. Complex motion of target from straight line to turning circle and zigzag movement, low frequency of sonar ping and large detecting error of target decreased the hitting probability.

  • Path tracking of unmanned vehicle is a basis of autonomous driving and navigation. For the path tracking, it is very important to find the exact position of a vehicle. GPS is used to get the position of vehicle and a direction sensor and a velocity sensor is used to compensate the position error of GPS. To detect path lines in a road image, the bird's eye view transform is employed, which makes it easy to design a lateral control algorithm simply than from the perspective view of image. Because the driving speed of vehicle should be decreased at a curved lane and crossroads, so we suggest the speed control algorithm used GPS and image data. The control algorithm is simulated and experimented from the basis of expert driver's knowledge data. In the experiments, the results show that bird's eye view transform are good for the steering control and a speed control algorithm also shows a stability in real driving.

  • According to the Korean Road Traffic Act, continuous driving in the overtaking lane (1 lane) of the highway is judged as a violation of the designated lane. Currently, in order to crack down on the advanced situation on the highway, a citizen's report or the road police directly determine whether it is a violation and crack down. This is because a violation is judged by overtaking or not the speed of the vehicle on the highway, and it is difficult to judge whether the vehicle is continuously driving because the standard is ambiguous in CCTV. Therefore, a system that self-determines and regulates whether the first lane is continuously driving without human intervention is needed. In this paper, in order to enable multiple object tracking during object tracking and to ensure the system's real-time feasibility, an unmanned crackdown system was designed based on F-SORT (Focused-Simple Online and Realtime Tracking) based on the Simple Online and Realtime Tracking (SORT) model, and the system determines whether or not the vehicle is continuously driving in one lane by determining the moving distance of the vehicle

  • In recent years, many public safety systems in the smart city are developed. These systems are taking responsibility to make a safe and comfortable city. In this paper, we propose vehicle tracking systems include a public safety system that enables the policeman to track the stolen vehicles more efficiently by providing the vehicle information in real time. When a vehicle is stolen, the vehicle owner can send a user emergency request. Then, the public safety server which supported by a geospatial query technique will give information such as time, distance, and routes to a policeman who is closest to the location of the vehicle to catch the thief. 300 simulations were performed to evaluate the performance of the system. We found that the average of times required when vehicle owner send a user emergency message on user application until policeman obtain a vehicle tracking request on police application below 1.2 seconds.

  • Tracking system is developed to receive both telemetry data and video data which are transmitted by radio frequency for the flight test of high manuvering vehicle. Tracking method of tracking system is the phase comparative monopulse that produce tracking data by measuring the phase difference of signal which is received by four patch antennas. The performance of tracking system is verified by flight test for RC helicopter and rocket.

  • In this paper, we propose a highly precise vehicle detection method with low false alarm using billboard sweep stereo matching and multi-stage hypothesis generation. First, we capture stereo images from cameras established in front of the vehicle and obtain the disparity map in which the regions of ground plane or background are removed using billboard sweep stereo matching algorithm. And then, we perform the vehicle detection and tracking on the labeled disparity map. The vehicle detection and tracking consists of three steps. In the learning step, the SVM(support vector machine) classifier is obtained using the features extracted from the gabor filter. The second step is the vehicle detection which performs the sobel edge detection in the image of the left camera and extracts candidates of the vehicle using edge image and billboard sweep stereo disparity map. The final step is the vehicle tracking using template matching in the next frame. Removal process of the tracking regions improves the system performance in the candidate region of the vehicle on the succeeding frames.

  • Tracking systems for launch vehicle consist mainly of radar transponder (beacon), RF switch or power divider, antennas as onboard system, and single or multiple radars as ground one. In this paper, tracking systems, which are applicable to KSLV (Korea Space Launch Vehicle)-l, are introduced and the electrical performances for developed prototypes are presented. We have also performed RF link analysis for both uplink and downlink, and estimated that the maximum distance to be able to track KSLV-l stably is dependent on uplink characteristic in our system.
