Exhaust emissions were characterized for a fleet of 10 alternative-fuel vehicles (AFVx) including 5 compressed natural gas (CNG) vehicles. 3 liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) vehicles and 2 85% methanol/15% California Phase 2 gasoline (M85) vehicles. In addition to the standard regulated emissions and detailed speciation of organic gas compounds, Fourier Transform Infrared Spectroscopy (FTIR) was used to measure ammonia (NH$_3$) and nitrous oxide ($N_2$O) emissions. NH$_3$, emissions averaged 0.124 g/mi for the vehicle fleet with a range from <0.004 to 0.540 g/mi. $N_2$O emissions averaged 0.022 g/mi over the vehicle fleet with range from <0.002 to 0.077 g/mi. Modal emissions showed that both NH$_3$, and $N_2$O emissions began during catalyst light-off and continued as the catalyst reached its operating temperature. $N_2$O emissions primarily were formed during the initial stages of catalyst light-off. Detailed speciation measurements showed that the principal component of the fuel was also the primary organic gas species found in the exhaust. In particular, methane, propane and methanol composed on average 93%, 79%, and 75% of the organic gas emissions, respectively, for the CNG, LPG. and M85 vehicles.
Three way catalyst has been used extensively for the exhaust gas treatment for the internal combustion gasoline engine. While, numerous research efforts have been directed to develop various technologies for the abatement of exhaust gas from diesel engine. Diesel engine operating under lean condition produces large amount of NOx and the corresponding catalytic technology employing vanadium supported titania using ammonia has been commercialized for heavy duty vehicle. Recently, the Cu catalyst supported on zeolite has been investigated for NOx abatement using ammonia because of its critical importance for ultra low emission vehicle. The current review shows the recent trend in research and development for zeolite based copper catalysts, which are mainly used as catalysts for selective catalytic reduction using ammonia, are one of the aftertreatment technologies for effectively removing nitrogen oxides from diesel exhaust.

Despite of recently strengthened vehicle emission regulations, NOx emissions are not decreased in urban areas because of discrepancies between certification emission test modes and real driving conditions. Thus, researches on RDE-LDV (Real-driving Emission-Light-duty Vehicle) have been conducted actively using PEMS (Portable Emissions Measurement Systems). In the present study, NOx emissions were measured for 5 Korean light duty vehicles for real driving conditions including city, combined, highway, and up-downhill test route. Emission characteristics were analyzed for averaged NOx emissions per unit driving distance of each driving test routes. Furthermore, MAW (Moving Average Window) method based on $CO_2$ emissions from WLTC, which will be supported for EU regulations, was utilized. It was revealed that DRs (deviation ratios) for diesel vehicles (i.e., 5.1 ~ 8.4) were greater than gasoline vehicles (less than 0.15). Especially DR of diesel vehicle for up-downhill test route was 8.4, which indicates severe NOx emissions.

An automobile is composed of a combination of a lot of parts, and it is difficult to maintain the same performance from a new car until it's scrapped. Greenhouse gases included in automobile emissions are typically carbon dioxide and methane. It is expected that this greenhouse gas will change depending on the aging (cumulative mileage) of the automobile However, the greenhouse gas characteristics by cumulative mileage lack of actual data due to time and economic difficulties. Therefore, in this paper, we selected automobile with high sales by displacement in korea and carbon dioxide and methane were measured by using method of the related law. The cumulative mileage is as follows; within 160 km (Statutory mileage by 2010), 6500 km (current statutory mileage), 15000 km (approximately 1-year average mileage of Non-business passenger vehicle). As a result of the test, the emission of carbon dioxide and methane was the smallest at 6,500 km, and increased in order of 15000 km, within 160 km. Also, it was confirmed that the $CO_2$ emission change of a large displacement automobile is more smaller at each mileage. Although the greenhouse gas tends to increase as the mileage of the vehicle, it is thought that additional confirmation is required of since 15,000 km as well, because it can occur deviations due to taming process or mechanical friction of the automobile.

Concerns about an air pollution are gradually increasing at home and abroad. The automotive and fuel researchers are trying to reduce emissions and greenhouse gases of vehicles through a research on new engine designs and innovative after-treatment systems using clean fuels (eco-alternative fuel) and fuel quality improvements. In this paper, we stduy the emission characteristics of greenhouse gases on seven vehicles using gasoline, diesel, and LPG by legal test mode in domestic and abroad.(Urban mode, Highway mode, rapidly acceleration and deceleration, using air conditioner, low temperature condition) Regardless of fuels, most of the greenhouse gases tend to show the worst results in cold FTP-75 mode. In the case of A vehicles (2.0 MPI) and B vehicles (2.4 GDI) using a gasoline fuel, the factors that increase greenhouse gases are in order of a rapidly acceleration and deceleration, using air conditioner, low temperature condition. But G vehicles(LPLi) have different emission characteristics from another vehicles. In the case of A vehicles (2.0 w/o DPF) and B vehicles (2.2 with DPF) using a diesel fuel, the factors that increase greenhouse gases are in order of a rapidly acceleration and deceleration, using air conditioner, low temperature condition. However, the factor of F vehicles are in order of low temperature condition, using air conditioner, rapidly acceleration and deceleration. In conclusion, it will be an effective method to apply different technologies of emission reduction for each fuel.

As the interest on the air-pollution is gradually rising up at home and abroad, automotiv e and fuel researchers have been working on the exhaust emission reduction from vehicles through a lot of approaches, which consist of new engine design, innovative after-treatment systems, using clean (eco-friendly alternative) fuels and fuel quality improvement. This research has brought forward three main issues : evaporative, performance, air pollution. In addition, researcher studied the environment problems of the bio-ethanol, bio-butanol, bio-ETBE (Ethyl Tertiary Butyl Ether), MTBE (Methyl Tert iary Butyl Ether) fuel contained in the fuel as octane number improver. The researchers have many dat a about the health effects of ingestion of octane number improver. However, the data support the con clusion that octane number improver is a potential human carcinogen at high doses. Based on the bio-fuel and octane number improver types (bio-ethanol, bio-butanol, bio-ETBE, MTBE), this paper dis cussed the influence of gasoline fuel properties on the evaporative emission characteristics. Also, this p aper assessed the acceleration and power performance of gasoline vehicle for the bio-fuel property. As a result of the experiment, it was found that all the test fuels meet the domestic exhaust gas standards, and as a result of measurement of the vapor pressure of the test fuels, the bio - ethanol : 15 kPa and the biobutanol : 1.6 kPa. thus when manufacturing E3 fuel, Increasing the biobutanol content reduces evaporation gas and vapor pressure. In addition, Similar accelerating and powering performance was shown for the type of biofuel and when bio-butanol and bio-ethanol were compared accelerated perf ormance was improved by about 3.9% and vehicle power by 0.8%.
As the interest on the air pollution is gradually rising up at home and abroad, automotive and fuel researchers have been working on the exhaust emission reduction from vehicles through a lot of approaches, which consist of new engine design, innovative after-treatment systems, using clean (eco-friendly alternative) fuels and fuel quality improvement. This research has brought forward various main issues : whether PM emissions should be regulated for diesel and gasoline vehicles and whether gasoline and LPG powered vehicles can be further neglected from PM emission inventories. Finally, the greenhouse gas regulation has been discussed including automotive emission regulation. The greenhouse gas and emissions of automotive had many problem that cause of ambient pollution, health effects. Based on various test modes and ambient conditions, this paper discusses the characteristics of LPG on exhaust emissions and greenhouse gases. Also, this paper assessed emission characteristics due to the test temperature. These test temperature were performed by dividing the temperature of the test mode and the lowest local temperature in winter. Through this study, the correlation of vehicle test mode and ambient condition, exhaust emission, greenhouse gas emission was analyzed.
In the present paper, the dynamic force-moment equilibrium equations, driving power and energy equations are analyzed to formulate the equation for fuel economy(km/liter) equivalent to the driving distance (km) divided by the fuel volume (liter) of the vehicle, a selected model of gasoline powered KIA K3 (1.6v). In addition, the effects of the dynamic parameters such as speed of vehicle (V), vehicle total weight(M), rolling resistance ($C_r$) between tires and road surface, inclined angle of road (${\theta}$), as well as the aerodynamic parameters such as drag coefficient ($C_d$) of vehicle, air density(${\rho}$), cross-sectional area (A) of vehicle, wind speed ($V_w$) have been analyzed. And the possibility of alternative materials such as lightweight metal alloys, fiber reinforced plastic composite materials to replace the conventional steel and casting iron materials and to reduce the weight of the vehicle has been investigated by Ashby's material index method. Through studies, the following results were obtained. The most influencing parameters on the fuel economy at high speed zone (100 km/h) were V, the aerodynamic parameters such as $C_d$, A, ${\rho}$, and $C_r$ and M. While at low speed zone (60 km/h), they are, in magnitude order, dynamic parameters such as V, M, $C_r$ and aerodynamic ones such as $C_d$, A, and ${\rho}$, respectively.
Liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) and compressed natural gas (CNG) are often used as fuel for vehicles because they are clean alternative gas fuels. CNG, as a low-carbon fuel, can contribute to the reduction of greenhouse gas emissions. LPG is often used as fuel for taxis because the performance is almost the same as that of gasoline but the price is lower. In the present study, the exhaust gas and the particle number (PN) of particulate matter, which is a recent environmental issue, were compared between LPG and CNG for the same vehicle. A chassis dynamometer was used to conduct the test according to the Federal Test Procedure (FTP)-75 and Worldwide harmonized Light-duty vehicle Test Procedure (WLTC) modes. The PN values of discharged particles having sizes of 5 nm or larger and 23 nm or larger were measured using two condensation particle counters (CPC). The ratio of carbon dioxide was high in the exhaust gas from the LPG vehicle; the ratio of methane was high in the exhaust gas from the CNG vehicle. The PN values of the emitted particles from the two fuels were similar. The PN values of particles having sizes of 23 nm or smaller were high in the high-speed WLTC mode.

Existing car-sharing systems have difficulty meeting the demands of one-way trips and connecting to other sharing systems. Therefore, in this study, a multi-mobility sharing service management system that was able to meet the demands of the one-way and round-way trips and shared diverse transportation modes such as cars (electric car/gasoline car), electric motorcycles and bicycles was developed, and a field study was conducted in Kashiwa-no-ha, Kashiwa City and Nagareyama City, Chiba Prefecture, Japan. As a result of the field test, it was confirmed that this system supplied the one-way demands for 54.9% of total car trips and 43.9% of the user used multiple transportation modes by the common interface. In addition, this system contributed to reduce carbon dioxide emissions by sharing vehicles and using eco-friendly vehicles. The developed sharing system is expected to improve mobility by meeting more various types of traffic demand than existing car sharing systems.
