Sinomegoura citricola (van der Goot, 1917) is recognized on Citrus unshiu Markovich (Rutaceae), Photinia glabra (Thunb.) Maxim (Rosaceae), and Cinnamomum lourelirii Nees (Lauraceae) from Jeju-do, Korea. Apterous viviparous female, alate viviparous female, and an intermediate morph between the apterous female and alate female are described. This is the first record of the genus Sinomegoura in Korea.

Golden-rule like formulas have been used without theoretical basis to calculate the resonance lifetimes and final state distributions in the predissociation of van der Waals molecules. Here we present their theoretical basis by extending Fano's configuration interaction theory. Such extensions were independently done by Farnonux [Phys. Rev. 1985, 25, 287] but his work, unfortunately, was not well known outside some small group of people in the field of Auger spectroscopy. Since my extension is easier to understand than his, it is presented here. Theoretical basis of Golden rule like formulas used in the predissociation of van der Waals molecules was obtained by using such extensions. Factors responsible for several aspects of predissociation dynamics, such as variations of dynamics as functions of resonance lifetimes, or variations in shapes of final quantum state distributions of photofragments around resonances, were identified. Parameters, or dynamical information that could be obtained from the measurement of partial cross section spectra were accordingly determined. The theory was applied to the vibrational predissociation of triatomic van der Waals molecules and its result was compared with those calculated by close-coupling method. An example where Golden-rule like expression fails and branching ratios vary greatly around a resonance was considered.

In a micro-scale contact, capillary force and van der Waals interaction significantly influence the contact between asperities of rough surfaces. Little is, however, known about the variation of these surface forces as a function of chemical property of the surface (wet angle), relative humidity and deformation of asperities in the real area of contact. A better understanding of these surface forces is of great necessity in order to find a solution for reducing friction and adhesion of micro surfaces. The objective of this study is to investigate the surface forces in micro-scale rough surface contact. We proposed an effective method to analyze capillary and van der Waals forces in micro-scale contact. In this method, Winkler spring model was employed to analyze the contact of rough surfaces that were obtained from atomic force microscopy (AFM) height images. Self-mated contact of DLC(diamond like carbon) coatings was analyzed, as an example, by the proposed model. It was shown that the capillary force was significantly influenced by relative humidity and wet angle of the DLC surface. The deformation of asperities to a critical magnitude by external loading led to a considerable increase of both capillary and van der Waals forces.

Dutch artist, Theo van Doesburg had shown short but strong experimental aesthetics in his works through De Stijl movement. He played a leading role for editing De Stijl magazine and performed various formative works such as painting, sculpture, and architecture. In 1923 he opened the first De Stijl exhibition cooperated with Cornelis van Eesteren. In this architecture exhibition he showed rich formal spirits of counter-construction in his major design works, that is Maison Particuliere and Maison D'artiste among three houses projects. Formal characteristics of counter-construction can be summed up under two categories, time and space. Analytical results are as follows; First, the characteristics of counter-construction related to time category include two types of two mode. One is linear aspect of time based on the viewer's movement. The other aspect is simultaneity caused by synoptical effect. These could be proved by the analysis of arrangement of color planes. Secondly, the spatial aspects of counter-construction are produced through two different ways of formal strategies. Van Doesburg arranged cubes in very irregular pattern. This treatment induces ambiguous void and creates feeling of subject's space. And, through deleting, shifting, and extending he could make dynamic spatial effect by interpenetration between in and out. This fluid space thus introduces movements of one's gaze and circulation. He denied traditional classical values which had ruled the western aesthetical discipline for centuries and believed that mankind can reach the realm of universal equilibrium by contrast and tension created by counter-construction. In this vein Theo van Doesburg was an avant-garde artist of Hegelian thoughts who adopted the dialectical method without following the formal characteristics from ancestors.

Otitis externa (OE) is a frequent disease in the ear canals of dogs. To identify the pathogens causing OE in dogs and to determine their antimicrobial resistances, specimens were collected from animal hospitals in Daejeon. The isolates were examined by morphological and biochemical tests, 16S rRNA analysis and antimicrobial susceptibility tests. We analyzed correlation between the isolated pathogens and external factors of dogs such as breed, age, gender, ear mite, hair in ears and experience with antibiotic therapy. Thirty three strains of bacteria were isolated from 26 of the 68 heads of dogs with OE. The most isolated bacteria were Enterococcus faecalis (E. faecalis) followed by Staphylococcus aureus (Sta. aureus), Sta. pseudointermedius, E. faecium, E. avium and Streptococcus canis (Strep. canis) in order of frequency of occurrence. Isolation frequency of Enterococcus spp. and Staphylococcus spp. were 51.5% and 45.5%, respectively. E. faecalis and E. faecium isolates showed VanB phenotype, which is resistant to vancomycin but sensitive to teicoplanin were 58% and 25%, respectively. Nine isolates among total twelve isolates of E. faecalis were isolated from the dogs treated with antibiotics. There was no methicillin-resistant Sta. aureus (MRSA), but were MR-Sta. pseudointermedius (MRSP) (57.1%) and vancomycin-resistant (VR)-Sta. pseudointermedius (14.3%) (VRSP) showing VanB phenotype. However, vanA, vanB and vanC genes were not detected in VR isolates from the dogs. Taken together, VR-Enterococcus spp. (VRE) is one of the major pathogens in domestic animals, as well as community-and hospital-acquired infection.

The effects of periodic and chaotic behaviour in the Bonhoeffer-Van der Pol (BVP) oscillation of the nerve membrane driven by a periodic stimulating current A1 coswtare investigated through hardware implementation.For hardware implementation of the BVP model. real element values were escaled with computer simulation results to determine the parameter real value.As the parameter A1 varied in the range 0 to 1.3, the BVP model showed an ordinary and reversed period-doubling cascade and a chaotic state. At the low driving amplitude ofa1 the period-doubling showed and at the high driving amplitude of A1 the chaotic state occured. To analyse the BVP model for chaotic behaviour Phase Plane, Time series are used to verify that properties.

Die vorligende Arbeit behandelt die Probleme der $Koh\"{a}renz$ und Interpretation von van de Velde unter einigen Gesichtspunkten, welche mit der Frage $zusammenh\"{a}ngen$: Wie wird Sprachverstehen $erm\"{o}glicht$? Nach van de Velde besteht der wissen­schaftliche Zugang zu den Sprachverstehensprozessen und Interpretationsstrategien darin, dass man Erkenntnisse $\"{u}ber$ ihre bedingenden Faktoren gewinnt Seine Arbeit versucht diese bedingenden Faktoren in folgenden Gegebenheiten aufzufinden: 1) in den innersprachlichen Gegebenheiten, 2) in den $Referenzzusammenh\"{a}ngen$, auf die sich innersprachliche Gegebenheiten beziehen, 3) in den Handlungskontexten, in denen die verwendeten Sprachgegebenheiten ihre Funktionen haben, 4) in den zwischenmenschlichen $Kormnunikationsrahmenverh\"{a}lnissen$, 5) in den kognitiven Prozessen des Sprachrezipienten, in der neuro(psycho)logischen Ausstattung des Sprachbenutzers. Genau gesagt, bleiben die folgenden Fragen trotzdem immer nur offen: 1) Kann jede Ebene $f\"{u}r$ die $Koh\"{a}renz$ bei van de Velde in der Wirklichkeit schon da sein? 2) Sind die Wertigkeiten jeder Ebenen gleich? 3) Muss die $Koh\"{a}renz$ zwischen Inferenz und Verstehen sein? 4) Gibt es irgendeine Einheitstheorie, solche $interdisziplin\"{a}re$ Faktoren zu beherrschen?

A word 'is' in "A parallelogram is trapezoid." is ambiguous and very rich when it comes to its meaning. In this paper, 'is' as in everyday language will be identified as semantic primes that can be interpreted in different ways depending on context and situation, and meanings of 'is' in mathematics will be discussed separately. Focusing on 'identity', 'is' will be reinterpreted in the view of equivalence relation and van Hieles' work. 'Is', as a mathematical sign, is thought to have a significant importance in producing mathematical ideas meaningfully.

Walter Van Beirendonck expresses a fairy tale world of perverted sexual desire of sadism and masochism, violence, and aggressiveness that breaks from a transient one-time concept as is an essential element of fashion. This study classifies the aesthetic characteristic shown on the design of Walter Van Beirendonck and analyzes the intent of his symbolism and meaning. The attempt has a meaning in exploring a new directionality of fashion by conveying a critical message to this end, contemporary fashion breaks down boundaries with artistic genre and connects a problematic consciousness that exists in life with fashion. The results of study on the aesthetic characteristics of Walter Van Beirendonck are as follows. First, Beirendonck emphasized an interpersonal image about body by giving a question through the deconstruction of image on a perfect body into race, age, and body based on body modification. Second, fetishism appeared as a consciousness that human identity and character can be changed by connecting a fetish element of sexual identity, and sadism and masochism with fashion's imagination. Third, infantilism as an amusement expression of the form metaphorically satirized life of modern people. Fourth, makeup shown on performance or festival of an African tribe was used in the way of mixture or reuse for ethnography to obtain inspiration from ethnography. Fifth, pop art combined a popular culture code as amusement through mass production and mass media. Aesthetics of Beirendonck do not have norm and are bold in using form, color, pattern, print, and styling because Beirendonck reinterpreted critical attitudes about essential problems that human life entails into a motif of his symbolic meaning in amusement. In regards to his design aesthetics, Beirendonck expanded fashion to the scope of Gesamtkunstwerk in a consistent and continued theme combined with philosophical creativity and differentiated from other fashion designers.

This study examined the incidence rates of cancer cases (averages for 2006-2010) and relationships with environmental radioactivity levels. Soil and water samples were collected from provincial and district centers of Van city and the outdoor gamma doses were determined using a portable gamma scintillation detector. Gross alpha and beta, (226)Ra, (232)Th, and (40)K activities were measured in both tap water and soil samples. Although high rates of stomach and esophagus cancers have been reported previously in Van the underlying reasons have not hitherto been defined. Incidences of cancers were highest in the Gurpmar (326.0) and Ozalp (377.1) counties (p<0.001). As to the results of the gross alpha and gross beta radioactivity measurements in the drinking water, these two counties also had high beta radionuclide levels: Gurpmar ($140mBq/dm^3$) and Ozalp ($206mBq/dm^3$). Even if within the normal range, a relation between the higher rate of the incidence of stomach and esophagus cancers with that of the higher rate of beta radionuclide activity was clear. On Spearman correlation analysis, the relation between higher beta radionuclide levels and cancer incidence was found to be statistically significant (p<0.01). According to the results of the analysis, Van residents receive an average 1.86 mSv/y annual dose from outdoor gamma radiation, ingestion of radionuclides in the drinking water, and indoor $^{222}Rn$ activity. Moreover, gross alpha and beta activities were found to be extremely high in all of the lakes around the city of Van, Turkey. Further investigations with long-term detailed environmental radiation measurements are needed regarding the relationship between cancer cases and environmental radioactivity in the city of Van.
