I will propose the radical indeterminacy for solving the higher-order vagueness' dilemma. The radical indeterminacy means that the indeterminacy of 'a is P' implies the indeterminacy of 'a is a borderline case of P.' I will compose my argument two steps: first I will suggest conditions for overcoming the dilemma by analyzing its structure and second I will offer the radical indeterminacy that satisfies aforementioned conditions. I think the higher-order vagueness' dilemma occurs owing to the misunderstanding about the unclarity or the indeterminacy of borderline cases that is an basic intuition of vagueness. So conditions for solving the dilemma are also criteria of adequacy on the theory of vagueness. Thus I will propose II-rule that satisfies above conditions and the radical indeterminacy as a new understanding about vagueness.
In this paper, I introduce what Boundary-Shifting theories of vagueness (or Contextualism about vagueness) are and what the Context-Fixing Argument is, which is the most powerful and plausible objection to Boundary-Shifting theories. The basic idea of the Context-Fixing Argument is that vagueness still remains even if we hold the context fixed. Many objections based on this simple idea can be found in the literature on Boundary-Shifting theories. It seems that, without a convincing response to the Context-Fixing Argument, Boundary-Shifters must be in trouble. But, oddly, defenders of Boundary Shifters have said very little about this matter. In this situation, ${\AA}$kerman and Greenough try to defend Boundary-Shifting theories of vagueness by suggesting several answers. In this paper, I critically examine their suggestions and develop a new answer to the Context-Fixing Argument.
In this paper, I attempted to show that 'Sorensen's Sorites' is not a successful argument for the vagueness of 'vague'. There are a lot of debates about it, but the central issue is whether Sorensen's Sorites is just small sorites; whether the vagueness certified by Sorensen's Sorites is just the vagueness of 'small'. Deas and Hull thought it was and rejected Sorensen's proof based on his sorites. But their rejection was rebutted by Varzi. The basis of his argument is that the subject of Sorensen's sentences - 'n-small' is vague - is not used but mentioned. I tried to reply on behalf of Deas and Hull and to show that the predicate 'vague' has not any effect on determining the truth value of "'n-small' is vague." Then it can be removed from the sentence. Of course I approve 'vague' is a homological term. What I do not agree with is only Sorensen's argument.

Some problems to assess the safety of automated man-machine system are studied in many ways. The difficulty occurred in this system is the vagueness of human behavior. Fuzzy set theory is used to assess the human behavior in safety analysis. The unsafe behavior listed top 10 in accident statistics would be explained as the factors of human vagueness. Three cases are considered, which consist of man-machine system as man-man, man-machine, machine-machine types. For the design of safe task, using characteristics of work performance, each motion cycle time is required to know the rate of learning. Approach of human behavior to the standard motion means more safe motion. It is important to design the works as to minimize the time performance to the standard motion's, which utilize the control of risk potential with easy. In that process, use of fuzzy set theory is appropriate to analyze the human behavior to identify its vagueness.
Possibility theory is a kind of mathematics of uncertainty for handling incomplete information. In this paper, we discuss vagueness and randomness as some causes of uncertainty and we introduce the possibility theory as a way of dealing with uncertainty, comparing it with the probability theory.
This paper examines the moral vagueness penetrating Heart of Darkness. It views that the inarticulate moral presentation in the book is caused by the way in which the author distracts Marlow throughout his journey to Congo and ultimately to Kurtz, and puts him in a distance from what the real Cong is. Also Conrad's peculiar narrative style leads the readers' view astray Marlow describes what he sees and delivers the impression he gains in the journey but all he gets seems to be merely hazy and nebulous the readers are left with suspicion about his reliability on what he conveys to them. The effect is, because of the meagre tangibility on what Marlow experiences, he does not seem to get a clear grip on his moral rumination on what Congo can emit and what Kurtz ended up with, which allows the novel to defy a moral absoluteness. The moral awakening Marlow has gone through remains obscure. The readers are simply invited to work out what Marlow is up to.
This paper is a comparative analysis of constitutional decisions in which the Korea Consitutional Court and the United States Supreme Court applied the void for vagueness doctrine into free expression issues. Common aspects are: both courts applied the void for vagueness doctrine on the grounds that vague laws bring chilling effect on freedom of expression. Acknowledging inevitable uncertainties in lawmaking and legal jargons, however, both courts required minimum standards in the void for vagueness doctrine. In the cases where unclear legal meanings resulted in constitutional challenges, both courts adopted the "narrowing construction" by the courts or judges based on average/ordinary person's understanding. The biggest differences between the two constitutional courts are their approach to the degrees of vagueness allowed in free expression cases. The U.S. Supreme Court underscored the necessity of narrowly drawn, reasonable and definite standards. Meanwhile, the Korea Constitutional Court relaxed its standards in some cases such as the National Security Law cases, even though it admitted the possibility of curtailing the right to free expression. The Court reasoned that those laws, though vague, brought with bigger social interests and are necessary tools in dealing with changing world.
Authors have developed the method of selecting the efficient variant of designing a systems or products from a some number of competition variants in the conditions of vagueness of the initial information. Registration of information vagueness degree concerning the quantity index values is carried out of the expense of giving to the expert the possibility of using different methods of index evaluation numerical evaluations with physical scale; phrases of limited language; and points evaluation. Using of this method and software is important for marketing research, for systems of quality control of products.

A novel fuzzy learning framework that employs fuzzy inference to solve the problem of Multiple Instance Learning (MIL) is presented. The framework introduces a new class of fuzzy inference systems called Multiple Instance Mamdani Fuzzy Inference Systems (MI-Mamdani). In multiple instance problems, the training data is ambiguously labeled. Instances are grouped into bags, labels of bags are known but not those of individual instances. MIL deals with learning a classifier at the bag level. Over the years, many solutions to this problem have been proposed. However, no MIL formulation employing fuzzy inference exists in the literature. Fuzzy logic is powerful at modeling knowledge uncertainty and measurements imprecision. It is one of the best frameworks to model vagueness. However, in addition to uncertainty and imprecision, there is a third vagueness concept that fuzzy logic does not address quiet well, yet. This vagueness concept is due to the ambiguity that arises when the data have multiple forms of expression, this is the case for multiple instance problems. In this paper, we introduce multiple instance fuzzy logic that enables fuzzy reasoning with bags of instances. Accordingly, a MI-Mamdani that extends the standard Mamdani inference system to compute with multiple instances is introduced. The proposed framework is tested and validated using a synthetic dataset suitable for MIL problems. Additionally, we apply the proposed multiple instance inference to fuse the output of multiple discrimination algorithms for the purpose of landmine detection using Ground Penetrating Radar.
Sorensen proved that 'vague' is vague through a sorites paradox that he presented. I will show that his sorites paradox satisfies the conditions for a sorites paradox and does not satisfy those conditions. So we will face a new paradox which exemplifies inconsistency of conditions for a sorites paradox. But those conditions include a principle which says when two cases are close enough, there will be no change in truth value. It represents an essential feature of vagueness. Therefore the paradox I will present in this article is not only shows inconsistency of conditions for a sorites paradox but also shows inconsistency of vagueness itself.
