  • VANET offers variety of services to allow safe and comfortable driving through V2V and V2I communications in transportation systems. To use these services, safe and reliable V2V and V2I communications must be guaranteed. In this regards, many RSU-based studies have been carried out to meet certain issues such as: efficiency of frequent communication between RSU and vehicles, security of stored information in RSU, and invasion on vehicle's privacy. In this paper, a scheme is proposed to reduce the dependency on RSU and to enhance the vehicle privacy by using signature-based authentication protocol. The proposed protocol is more efficient than existing protocol with group signature, and satisfies all the requirements of VANET.

  • Vehicular-to-anything (V2X) technology is attractive for wireless vehicular ad-hoc networks (VANETs) because it allows for opportunistic choice of a vehicular protocol between vehicular-to-vehicular (V2V) and vehicular-to-infrastructure (V2I) communications. In particular, achieving seamless connectivity in a VANET with nearby network infrastructure is challenging. In this paper, we propose a density-based opportunistic broadcasting (DOB) protocol, in which opportunistic connectivity is carried out by using the nearby infrastructure and opposite vehicles for solving the problems of disconnection and long end-to-end delay times. The performance evaluation results indicate that the proposed DOB protocol outperforms the considered comparative conventional schemes, i.e., the shortest path protocol and standard mobile WiMAX, in terms of the average end-to-end delay, packet delivery ratio, handover latency, and number of lost packets.

  • VANET(Vehicular Ad-hoc Network) is a kind of ad hoc networks consist of intelligence vehicular ad nodes, and has become a hot emerging research project in many fields. It provide traffic safety, cooperative driving and etc. but has also some security problems that can be occurred in general ad hoc networks. Also, in VANET, vehiculars sho uld be able to authenticate each other to securely communicate with network-based infrastructure, and their location s and identifiers should not be exposed from the communication messages. This paper explains V2I authentication pr otocol using a hash function that preserves the user privacy. In addition, we analyze the security stability of the V2I authentication protocol using Casper in the formal verification technique. As a result, V2I authentication protocol us ing hash function prove a stability.

  • Due to the rapid evolution of vehicular ad hoc networks (VANETs), effective communication and security are now essential components in providing secure and reliable vehicle-to-vehicle (V2V) and vehicle-to-infrastructure (V2I) communication. However, due to their dynamic nature and potential threats, VANETs need to have strong security mechanisms. This paper presents a novel approach to improve VANET security by combining the Vehicular Delay-Tolerant Network (VDTN) protocol with the Deep Reinforcement Learning (DRL) technique known as the Twin Delayed Deep Deterministic Policy Gradient (TD3) algorithm. A store-carry-forward method is used by the VDTN protocol to resolve the problems caused by inconsistent connectivity and disturbances in VANETs. The TD3 algorithm is employed for capturing and detecting Worm Hole Attack (WHA) behaviors in VANETs, thereby enhancing security measures. By combining these components, it is possible to create trustworthy and effective communication channels as well as successfully detect and stop rushing attacks inside the VANET. Extensive evaluations and simulations demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed approach, enhancing both security and communication efficiency.

  • Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, remote working, e-learning, e-teaching and online collaboration have widely spread and become popular. Accordingly, the usage of IPsec VPN for security reasons has also dramatically increased. With the spread of VPN, VPN vulunerabilities are becoming an important target of attack for attackers, and many studies have been conducted on this. IKE v2 analysis is an essential process not only for developing and building IPsec VPN systems but also for security analysis. Network packet analysis tools such as Wireshark and Tcpdump are used for IKE v2 analysis. Wireshark is one of the most famous and widely-used network protocol analyzers and supports IKE v2 analysis. However Wireshark has many limitations, such as requiring system administrator privileges for IKE v2 analysis. In this paper, we describe Wireshark's limitations in detatil and propose a new analysis method. The proposed analysis method can analyze all encrypted IKE v2 messages in real time from the session key exchange In addition, the proposed analysis method is expected to be used for dynamic testing such as fuzzing as packet manipulation.

  • The national accredited certificate is a user certificate issued based on the user's personal information, which has been identified in advance, and has become a universal authentication method used for most electronic financial transactions and user authentication. And it contributed a lot to the use of e-government and domestic service. However, due to the lack of web standards on how to use, it was inconvenient to install a separate plug-in, and efforts to improve it have been continued. In this paper, we attempt to solve the problem of certificate usage environment by presenting the certificate digital signature method using the extension of the FIDO2 (Fast Identity Online v2) client to authentication protocol (CTAP) specification.

  • Due to increasing demand for improving road safety and optimizing road traffic, Vehicular Ad-Hoc Networks (VANET) have been subject to extensive attentions from all aspects of commercial industry and academic community. Security and user privacy are fundamental issues for all possible promising applications in VANET. Most of the existing security proposals for secure VANET concentrate authentication with privacy preservation in vehicle-to-vehicle (V2V) and vehicle-to-roadside infrastructure (V2I) communications and require huge storage and network capacity for management of revocation list. Motivated by the fact, we propose a new scheme with security and privacy preservation which combines V2V and V2I communication. With our proposed scheme, the communication and computational delay for authentication and overhead for management of revocation list can be significantly reduced due to mutual authentication between a vehicle and a Roadside Unit (RSU) requires only two messages, and the RSU issues the anonymous certificate for the vehicle on behalf of the Trust Authority (TA). We demonstrate that the proposed protocol cannot only guarantee the requirements of security and privacy but can also provide efficiency of authentication and management of revocation list.

  • The increase in applying IT to vehicles has given birth to smart cars or connected cars. As smarts cars become connected with external network systems, threats to communication security are on the rise. With simulation test results supporting such threats to Convergence security in vehicular communication, concerns are raised over relevant vulnerabilities, while an increasing number of studies on secure vehicular communication are published. Hacking attacks against vehicles are more dangerous than other types of hacking attempts because such attacks may threaten drivers' lives and cause social instability. This paper designed a Convergence security protocol for inter-vehicle and intra-vehicle communication using a hash function, nonce, public keys, time stamps and passwords. The proposed protocol was tested with a formal verification tool, Casper/FDR, and found secure and safe against external attacks.
